We don't need to cover the Earth with Darkcoins, but if the shadow economy is 20% of the world's GDP, if ONLY 1% of all the people in the world value their privacy, we'd have 72,722,000 people potentially interested in Darkcoin. And if ONLY 10% of the 1% of all the people who value their privacy, we'd still have 7,272,200 people that might wish to use Darkcoin. I tell you what, shit be going on with other crypto coins and devs at the moment.  I don't often peek out of this thread but its looking pretty ugly out there.

I'd raise a red flag with them. My balances were wrong. All of them. (I was in margin) Numbers were, how to put it, skewed, in their favor, of course. I wrote to everyone, with a precise calculation describing where the "error" lies.

Never got a reply. I decided to take a hit, sell with (stated, erroneous) loss and withdrew everything. If an account's balances could be fraudulent...

This hardly represents a majority to which "broke" should easily apply. For these Top 1000 holders, an average holding is 3,291 DRK i.e. $5,594.70 in average, per today's price. In this fucked up, pillaged economy, a normal, "broke" person does not have $5.5K to plunge into such an innovative, high-risk investment.

And, these people were buying as the coin's price was sinking...

Noone forces you. It's like saying that normal person does not have $$ to buy 1kg of gold at current price. And the 'normal' person will then come again when the price is up 2 times, and troll again the same 'it's too expensive' talk.

Even in the official channel we have long-term investors talking about waiting on buying till price retreats to .003... if that's the case and everyone is waiting for cheaper and cheaper, how do you actually expect price to move up?

At the moment of weakness I sold 50% of my Darkcoins - the part I was able to sell with a tiny profit - but today I bought all of them, and more, back. So, now I have more Darkcoins than ever before but on the rich list I've fallen for several hundred places.

This tells me the people were buying during this last month as the price kept falling. Why the price is falling is still a mystery to me, though...

Not a single number in my "experimental account" on Bitfinex makes any sense. Thus far they are not helpful but I just started a discussion on the topic.

"Base Price" shows an aggregate number that above any BTC price when purchased;
"Margin Balance" does not compute right (BTC amount x last price gives a totally different number, much lower than it should have been) and thusly,
"Net Balance" is not correct.

Has anyone else had similar problem?

Look I appreciate your enthusiasm but honestly this is really starting to piss me off. Crypto is just sliding into the abyss. People still don't see the need for it, I'm talking your average person on the street. I'm starting to lose hope. It's been a year of decline so far, I've lost thousands of dollars. I feel like a sack of shit. I could have sold DRK at $10 but I held like a fucking moron now I basically have nothing left. The question I'm asking myself is: "How could you be so fucking stupid?"

Literally when I wake up, I ask myself this, and before I go to bed, the same. Aren't you mistaking philosophy with promotion? I think since the start darkcoins philosophy has been lightyears ahead of all the other coins.

You are correct. I did mistake the philosophy - that was clearly stated from Evan's original withe paper - with the promotion of it. Nothing wrong with the messy message during the adoption process but still...

Again, my bad for not being crystal clear. "Development in crypto world," was not a reference to Bitcoin development version but to the developments in adoption of the BTC as money / financial asset / store of value, you name it; I was referring to Bitcoin acceptance rate. Over 30,000 businesses are accepting BTC. I mean even PayPal, as seen in their payment hub, has integrated Bitcoin much faster that anyone has expected.

So, perhaps I should have said the speed of developments around Bitcoin is mind-boggling.

It is imperative the Darkcoin's official core image directives represent its phisolophy and it's origins and objectives. A very serious protocol to empower the individual. The individuals of the world need a simple and cross-cultured presentation of what Darkcoin is and what is proposes.

It emphasizes what I wrote several days ago: The only problem I see with the Darkcoin at this moment in time is a lack of direction in its philosophy. Is it going to be a subversive element, a part of the shadow economy (20% of the world's economy is the shadow economy) or a tool for us to start building a new society free of oppression and tyranny or is it going to strive to become a mainstream coin in the vein of Bitcoin? Options are many but our plans, our direction, our philosophy are not. Thusly, we do not generate enough enthusiasm in the wider community of crypto enthusiasts; what is left seems to be only a bunch of nerds getting it and having some fun doing it, but no many others.

I still believe that #getintothedark & The Darkcoin Chameleon were (are) a nonsense that hurt because it had been perceived as not serious, while semi-official representative of the Darkcoin community, and as such is a spitting image of the key problem, outlined above in the red.

I don't believe we can wait for three years as that last article suggests, given the speed of development crypto world is witnessing. I wrote several suggestions on Darkcoin talk that I hope would not hurt to be repeated, in order to help this discusssion:

Visibility is everything, so say:

    - TanteStefana and / or David (a new writer) start from the start (articles about Darkcoin origins, DarkSend, "How to... " buy / trade / invest;
    - fernando or someone good with this creates a simple animation video, explaining the same in a more visual way;
    - another video, more sophisticated may be in place as well;

    - SYNDICATE all content (Twitter, FB, blog) and use all RSS feeds. Point in case, Review Outlaw has a video on mining Darkcoin here:

WEEKLY Q&A with Evan (and Ape and some other developer) - perhaps as a LIVE CHAT was the best idea thus far - sorry, but for a life in me at the moment I can't recall whose idea it was - so that could be an hour or so live transmissions with the community, investors, journalists, bloggers etc, participating (or just a host, one of the guys here, or from the Foundation) that would boost both the visibility and interest.

Bottom line. Spread the word as much as you can. And try to also focus on "influencers" like Max, David, Reggie...
