Bump. Does anybody know or is everyone in this site as uniformed and dumb as me?
I cant find any information about the real history behind the first darknet drug market, the Silk Road. It doesnt have the detailed things I am looking for like what started it first, was it because of BTC or something else?
If it was there before BTC, what was the currency used before it?

Yeah Im as confused as you. First there was Segwit then there was BU fighting against it. Now theres BIP 148 which the users themselves attempt the soft fork and theres also a BIP 149 and Segwit 2x?
Whats going on now?

There are some restaurants in Europe which accept bitcoin as payment.
Yeah but how many people actually pay in BTC? I would say maybe theres one in every 1000 people, maybe less than that. There isnt that many Bitcoiners around the world for BTC acceptance for restaurants to make sense. Besides, cash works better. It's fast and cheap to use.

The so called black market of Bitcoin aka the tor marketplaces are actually a few of the first pioneers that embraced Bitcoin and if you take into consideration the huge amounts of coins that where spent there in the early years you can imagine their current liquidity. I'd say they make around 30% of the Bitcoin economy.
With fiat it's totally different, though I don't know exact numbers even if you have billions of dollars circulating in the black market, inflation shrinks the percentage every single day.
Im curious to know whether the darknet market places were there first before BTC or was BTC first and then they built the darknet market place second? If the darknet market places were there first then what was the currency used before BTC?

You people are too paranoid. Gmail is fine for most of you. Theres no need to become a haxor all of a sudden just because we are using BTC. Using a password manager and change your password regularly is more important. Security comes with the effort you put in it.

what % of entire market of btc is black market compared to % of fiat market vs black
sounds if confusing but trying to do graphical analysis of different variables and their effect on market prices
I don't think this question makes a lot of sense, can you clarify what you mean? Do you mean what percentage of bitcoin transactions are used to make illegal "black market" purchases? If so, the answer is probably very low. The vast majority of transactions are probably done by people just trading bitcoin and/or alt coins. If the black market includes the darknet then its the majority of all BTC transactions, excluding trading. No one really uses BTC for buying regular store items like coffee. It would be a waste of the currency.

Most of those sites listed in 99bitcoins.com arent really offline stores. Lets be in reality here, almost no one will use their BTC to spend in a store where cash or credit cards are accepted unless the buyer really needs to buy something and there was no other choice for payment. Heres a list of shops where BTC is always accepted. https://www.deepdotweb.com/2013/10/28/updated-llist-of-hidden-marketplaces-tor-i2p/

Lot's of people use JustGiving.com and even Kickstarter.com for charitable causes. As others have said, it might be better to use this as a portal to raise within your local community, because random strangers are unlikely to have any bond with the recipient.
Not only that, it opens the idea for scammers to start doing the same thing. This is BTC, there are lots of sociopaths out there who will take advantage of the goodness of others for their gain.

Hi, I was checking if there is still any way to make any bitcoin using your twitter account. I saw there use to be this service https://birds.bitcoin.com/ but somehow when i try to login it remains blank so am thinking probably not available anymore. So does any of you guys use any method to make bitcoins with twitter? Would appreciate if you could share some ideas Thank you, rrege That websites seems fishy to me. There's lots of way to make bitcoin using twitter on this forum. You could join social media campaign and sometimes there's twitter giveaway. Have a look at this https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1771802.0Fishy? You really have no idea do you? That service is owned by Roger Ver. But its fishy in the way it was used by anti BTC Core propaganda and some reported it to an admin because it was breaking Twitter's TOS. The high fees is just an excuse.

That law would give incentive to start buying and holding anonymous cryptocurrencies like XMR. Soon enough the government will start mapping the transactions in the blockchain and would start grouping the wallets together and then tracing a person's BTC activities.

Its good that your friend got his money back. I guess those hardcore libertarians who are bordering as anarchists should realize that some government intervention is needed in BTC. The minute we are scammed we have really no choice but to go to the authorities. Tax money at work.

Try ordering at Trezor if you dont mind what kind of hardware wallet it is. They had some minor delays several months ago but theyre shipping schedule is now back to normal. Check them out.
It's funny how almost every country is available for shipping the Trezor wallet while my country is not, no standard and no DHL either. I don't like it anyway, the design looks weird to me and I know that they are not as secure as Ledger nano S and of course the price is higher. Where did you get the idea that its not as secure? I dont think thats accurate unless there was a security flaw that was exposed that I missed.

If theres really a Flippening, then why did the ETH traders run with their tails between their legs when the BTC whales started to dump? Shouldnt they be holding their ground and keep pumping ETH?
ETH traders will claim that BTC holders got jittery when ETH started going down. Correlation is one thing, trying to prove causation is very difficult. If there are people who should be jittery right now, its the ETH holders. All of those ICOs will fail because of the inability of ETH to scale and support all those ICOs.

Thats true, but it could get messy. Who knows what the little fella will do. He could be talking with the other miners to join him right now.
other miners should be less blinded by their controlling desires and realise if they decide to try and impose their will on users they ain't gonna have anything to mine. But theyre already imposing their will in the state where BTC is on right now. Why do you think its in this situation? The miners will go wherever it takes them to make more money.

Frankly it's about time. I think any rational look at recent price growth shows that speculators have once again pushed the price into unwarranted levels. My gut (which means little) is whispering a valuation around $1800 - $2200. We'll see.
Im with you but I cant stop myself from looking at the price right now and its still going down fast. Should we be worried? Theres possibly more selling pressure on August 1 too, just in case you forgot.
