Here is a link to the only broker on that page that I could find that supposedly supports trading BTC

I tried to create an account but they are currently not accepting users from the U.S.

1542  Bitcoin / Press / 2013-05-25 ForexMinute.com Now Listing Top Bitcoin Exchanges and Offering Forex on: May 25, 2013, 11:31:20 PM
Received this in my google alerts today, it looks like the original story was from the 21st though.

Quote
ForexMinute.com, the world’s leading forex news and resources portal, has now listed the top bitcoin exchanges to ensure traders with an effective and reliable bitcoin trading plan.

A spokesperson from ForexMinute.com further promotes the services by stating, “Like the stock market, buying a bitcoin is not difficult. At ForexMinute, we provide you with the top exchanges (which trade in multiple currencies), by which you can trade Bitcoins easily.”

ForexMinute strongly aims at recommending the most appropriate bitcoin exchanges to novices and intermediates that generally have little idea of the global financial markets. The portal hence believes in expanding their trading skills by providing enough resources to help traders make a profitable venture at bitcoin trading.

“To ensure you a profitable bitcoin trading experience, we provide you with minute-to-minute bitcoin news, articles, live feeds, charts, moving averages, etc.,” ensures the ForexMinute spokesperson. “This surely helps you understand the trends of the market effectively. It also helps you make worthwhile decisions trading Bitcoins and earning higher ROI.

ForexMinute is already a renowned name in Finance. Having been provided the most resourceful knowledge, the portal brings its visitors with a great platform to learn quickly about various forms of trading such as with forex, indices, commodities and stocks. With their new Bitcoin section, the portal similarly aims to introduce and expand the knowledge about this new virtual currency among potential traders.

1544  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GLDCOIN @ Cryptsy! YAY on: May 25, 2013, 09:29:48 PM
lol thanks guys, I heard that somewhere.  The question is, are you attempting to defraud people or have you just drunk the koolaid so facts don't matter?

I can personally say emphatically that I am not out defraud anyone.

Do you hope to profit from your involvement in GDLcoin?  If the coin is destined to fail because it does not pass the bar to become a mainstream coin, or have any special advantages to make it a niche coin, by what other mechanism besides finding someone else willing to pay you more than your cost.

Yes and why are stating that it is destined to fail?
Are you invested in bitcoin or any alt-coins at all?
Do you expect a return on investment if so?
Did you/are you going to ask the same questions to the bitcoin and litecoin community?
Do you ask these questions to your stockbroker?

When you introduce a new cryptocurrency, it has to be *better* than the status quo, because otherwise there is no reason for anyone not involved with speculative initial phase to ever buy or use it.  Sure, right now you guys are one big happy family all agreeing to not sell your coins because that will rise the overall value, but it's that collussion that perpetuates the fraud.  If the policy was "Ok everybody do what you want and lets see where this goes" it would be fine, and the market would reflect reality - But because many of the major players appear to have agreed to limit the supply available to the market, it means you're waiting to sell until you've profited.

So in order for you to profit, you have to sell to someone willing to pay more to you than it was worth to you in cost, which is a very low number since its a brand new alt that is just not getting a little harder to mine.  Lacking any advantages, any differences, really anything besides a 'marketable name" that means you're looking for suckers who will ignore the fundamentals (it's not any better than anything else, so it has almost no chance of being adopted because it offers no advantage to incentivize such adoption) and pay you a higher price not because it fixes any problems or has a chance of adoption, but instead because they think they too will be able to find a sucker willing to buy it from them for more than they paid for it.

You're acting like that's not how a scam works, but actually - it is.   If you hope to profit from this coin, you can only do so by getting other people to value it despite the fact there is no reason to.

I'm not saying GLDcoin is the only one, just that it by all appearances is one.  I haven't had time to look into other coins, trying to be through in developing my opinion about GLDcoin.  You guys might be well intentioned, but it's very short-sighted to say "I hope to profit" and still act like having a gentlemans agreement amongst major holders isn't collussion to keep the price artificially high.  This of course causes the greater "profitability" of the coin vs. alternatives, which encourages more people to mine it, etc.   Again, I get why you first generation miners or people who got pre-mined coins for free want to be involved - Money for nothing!   But the logic fails at that point.

I very much have these questions about every other coin, it's just that Bitcoin and Litecoin (recently) have gotten stuck in a positive feedback loop that makes these concerns fall away as legitimate utility takes the place.   it's not that GLDcoin doesn't have that same utility, it's just that mirroring it is not enough to justify using GLDcoin vs. any of the more establish alternatives.

This is a BS answer and you didn't answer my questions, do you have any crypto coins at all?
1545  Bitcoin / Project Development / [IDEA] Recurring Payments on: May 25, 2013, 08:15:06 PM
I am bouncing a few ideas around and wanted to get some market feedback from the community.

Please let me know if you would be interested in a service that allows you to create a recurring payment to or be requested from another user.

The idea is from my view pretty straight forward.

You have a service that people subscribe to and want to be paid in bitcoin or other alt-coin on a weekly, monthly or yearly basis.

1548  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: 10 BTC Bounty to Convince me not to Invest $20,000 in P2P Bank/Exchange Idea on: May 25, 2013, 08:00:54 PM
In this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=215488.0  I am discussing a plan for a distributed peer-to-peer bank / exchange that actually pays interest on all deposits (gold, silver, USD, etc) and IS NOT based upon any IOU or counter-party risks.  It allows you to withdraw funds and all of this occurs at prices cheaper than depositing / withdrawing funds from Mt. Gox or even your local ATM.

The idea behind it is difficult to grasp at first and is easily dismissed but once understood is amazingly simple and elegant.  Because I want feedback and want to know what I am missing and what I haven't explained well enough to generate the interest and enthusiasm I feel it deserves, I am offering a 10BTC bounty to motivate people to tear my idea to shreds and save me $20,000.

So here is the deal, I am putting my money where my mouth is and making a wager that I can convince you to be as excited about my solution as I am.  If I am right then the time spent attempting to understand my idea would allow you to be an early adopter to a system that could replace bitcoin, if I am wrong and you are right then you will earn 10BTC for your time and we will have had a good debate regarding economics and technical details.

Overall I am seeking to bring out bright and intelligent debate around my idea.  I need to learn how to explain it in terms that is far easier for everyone to understand.    I am willing to Skype or talk on the phone if it would aid communication.

Have you ever brought an idea from paper to the real world? i.e. have you ever been a start-up founder or worked at a start-up before?

Do you have the sales chops, connections, gravitas, family/friend support to bring this idea into reality?

It all sounds rosy on paper but when you have a family to support + a new business to run and get off the ground, taxes, employees, healthcare, PTO, sick pay, unemployment insurance, why people are late, water, electricity, government licenses to get and maintain etc, etc, etc, etc, it can be very tough.

What skills are you bringing to the company?

If technical only, Who will be your CTO, CFO, CSO(security) CEO.

How well do you know your founders? Do you have any? If not when will you get them, from where will you choose them from?

What security mechanisms are you going to embrace and why? After all you are considering creating the first Crypto Bank, this better be secure or you are going to get sued to the end of days.

Have you thought about what it will take to get your MSB license?

What is your exit strategy, what is your fund raising capabilities and connections?

Do you live near Silicon Valley or New York or any other established start-up area?

Edit: grammer

I appreciate the attempts to answer this, and have follow-up questions.

<snipped />

Great questions, I will try and be as eloquent as you in my answers

Can you elaborate on this difference?  You say it seems very fast, why is that?
Quote from: btciec
1) I do not have direct evidence of this, I shall have to do some tests and return to you with a straight answer.

Why should you have a say in what happens?  What do you bring to the table with this power?   Whose interest are you acting on behalf of?
Quote from: btciec
1) Perhaps I shouldn't, but I am going to put my 2 cents in where I think it matters and have something meaningful to add to the conversation.
2) Great question, I will have to ponder on this for a while.
3) My own and the communities.

Why do you like the name?  Does it have anything to do with reality, or do you think it is a good marketing choice that will make unsophisticated users more likely to trust it because they believe gold has value where feathers do not?
Quote from: btciec
1) esoteric question doesn't really matter, that is like asking why do you like the color blue, something about it tickles your fancy and you just do.
2) Yes I think it was an excellent marketing choice. Unsophisticated? to be fair this entire thing is an unregulated underground financial system. You pose an excellent question, this line of questioning needs to be thought through for when this does become mainstream.

How much did you spend to buy 30,000 GLDcoins, how long did you mine for 6,000 GLDcoins, why did you give some away - Altruism or because you want people to associate value with it, since they now own some and stand to profit form its further adoption?
Quote from: btciec
1) ~.50 bitcoin on it so far, I anticipate allocating up to 10 in total.
2) Mining 6000 gldcoins took me about 2 weeks or so off and on.
3) I gave them away because I think that they will be worth allot more in the future, let's not kid ourselves here, most of us on this board on not spending 10's (perhaps 100's now) of millions of dollars because we like to give our money away, we expect a return on our investment and a grand one at that (at least I do). In addition to the previous statement, I would also like to add that it feels really cool to be a part of a growing community, be it the BTC eco-system in general or GLD specifically, the Winkelvoss twins didn't put away 1MM bitcoins because they are going to give them away for free, they expect a huge return on their speculation as do most of us here.

Besides being easy to mine, what is the advantage of mining GLDcoins?
Quote from: btciec
1) It hasn't been raped yet by the guys with 10 servers running quad 7990's
2) very fast payout's on the first pool http://next.afraid.org, bad name I know, but it's growing on me...

How do you participate in GLDcoin?  Is there a forum? Do you vote on things?  What things have you directly impacted, and why did you think it was important enough to initiate change on?  Are there any things you feel should be changed about GLDcoin, what are they, why, and why hasn't it already happened?
Quote from: btciec
1) I participate by mining, offering help where I can to newcomers and offering sponsorships and giveaways.
2) Forum: http://www.gldcointalk.org/
3) We do not vote on items yet, but thanks that is a great idea
4) Impacts: I have added a node to the system with my dedicated server. MajorMax came to me asking that I add his node to my client, I researched the implications of such a request, decided he and his request was a good one and followed through with it, I then researched for myself how to do it on my own server and did so.
5) Changes: yes, I believe that we need to organize ourselves better, why? At this point it feels like working at a startup, everybody is doing everything that they can to get this thing off the ground

Hey GLD people  Grin

If you have the time, you can vote at the link below, to have GLD traded on Vircurex:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=215284.new#new

Just let me know by PM that you voted for GLD, and I will pay you 10 GLD 20 GLD.
(up to 100 voters, so I am pledging to pay out 1000 GLD on this one to 100 people who vote)
(GLD has 11 votes, at the time I wrote this. Need more)
UPDATE:  May 25, 2013. btceic  has added 1000 GLD to be given out to people who vote, and now you get paid 20 GLDcoin when you vote GLD
I have not been keeping your GLDcoin addresses that I was paying you GLD with, but I will be trying to make sure the previous voters all get the additional GLD that btceic is paying you. Smiley

Don't worry, I will pay, but I might be away from the computer at times, so please be patient.

Anyone else want to add to the offer? (for every 1000 you pledge, I will increase the payout to the voters by 10 more GLD )

UPDATE:  btceic  has added 1000 GLD to be given out to people who vote, and now you get paid 20 GLDcoin when you vote GLD

(Voting closes: May 31, 2013, 01:38:02 PM)  Try to get all your friends to vote GLD

You may also want to contact:
akumaburn is also offering GLD to people who vote GLD

BitshireHashaway is also offering GLD to people who vote for GLD

Buying votes, not only is that cheating, which I guess I should expect from GLD, it's pathetic. People should voting for the best coin, and if GLD was the best coin, you wouldn't need to buy peoples votes.  Roll Eyes

Also, Profitability on Coinchoose, is only accurate, if there is enough volume in Buy orders, at the price. If you can't sell off the ammount of coins you mine in 1 day, than coinchoose, means shit

Hydroponica,
Why the fuck are you posting in a GLD thread, why do you care so much about GLD?
Shouldn't you be doing something FOR the WLD eco-system?
Why do you feel the need to bash GLD, do you feel threatened by it?

It's ok dude, if you want to come onto our side, we will hold no ill will, just don't do the same shit for GLD as you are doing to WLD.

In all honesty, I mined WLD for a while and when I saw how you were bashing other alt-coins I dropped it.

Keep that in mind the next time you feel like typing crap about other peoples endeavors.
