Some action!!

looks like I can order something and get a credit applied

if I get the s17 it is  1332-133 =1199-1139 = 60 plus 100 to ship = 160
15462  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: multiple CPU mining. on: December 05, 2019, 12:39:05 PM
The issue with CPU mining is the high cost of build out, the PSU, mobo, ram, CPU and cooler per each build. You could try to buy old servers that have somewhat decent CPU in them and go for that.

not as bad as you think a lot of boards will do the

  ryzen 5 3600x
  ryzen 7 3700x
  ryzen 7 3800x
  ryzen 9 3900x

A lot depends if you were like me when I built gpu rigs I used better boards..

my   x370  all bios up grade to ryzen 3000    mobo cost = 0
my psus were all atx                                    psu cost = 0
I used 2 sticks of 8gb ram                            ram cost = 0

cooler  the  cooler master 240 aio = 70 bucks
cpu    250 to 500

pretty afford able upgrade  if you do the 3800x on sale = 369

https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Ryzen-3800X-16-Thread-Processor/dp/B07SXMZLPJ/ref=sr_1_2?

cooler master = 75
https://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-MasterLiquid-Chamber-MLA-D24M-A18PC-R1/dp/B07CRGC899/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?

or ryzen 3700x 309

https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Ryzen-3700X-16-Thread-Processor/dp/B07SXMZLPK/ref=sr_1_3?

so for 369+75 =444  and sell my 1800x for cheap (100)  I get  solid up grade for only 344
If you already have am4 boards, psu, ram then it's not much of an issue but I think we both know what the majority of motherboards used for gpu mining were. They were those crap little 1150 with g1580s in them and ddr3 ram.I doubt many bought am4 to throw an Apu or a pricey CPU in while never thinking of CPU mining.

i feel lucky to have
 three 3900x
one threadripper all running

and three more boards ready to upgrade .

no psu cost
no ram cost
only one mobo purchased.

i will have seven running for under 2000. roi will be 150-200 days.

pretty quiet and will warm the basement for winter.

ROI 150 - 200 days? No way, never, noooo. Which calculator you are using?  Roll Eyes
I'm not sure what the thread ripper makes but currently a 3900x (without electricity being taken into consideration) is making around $36-40 a month let's say 7 months is 200 days (it isn't) he's at $840 revenue for the three and then the thread ripper will be probably making this closer to $1000, so maybe a 400 day roi for $2,000 but remember he's already gotten tons of use out of these boards and CPU as gpu mining host and they will carry use and value for years.

they are quiet and reduce my heating bill from 240 to 100 a month.  so 140 x 4 = 560 extra..

The boards  are not free they  are paid off and I have a hand full of cards that are paid off  they add to the profit.

Yeah 150 200 is too good  it is more like 350 days.

My power bill for this gear is low enough that I can hold all the coin I make .  Since it is all nicehash  It is btc and simply sits in place.

Yesterday I grabbed a ryzen 7 3700x   for 97 bucks. I had a credit on amazon.

People have to realize as long as xmr/monero  changes al-gore-rhythms   every six months  chasing with other hash  is a fail.

Down the road I can consider getting this

https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813157902?Item=N82E16813157902&Description=trx40&cm_re=trx40-_-13-157-902-_-Product

and this

I have all the other parts.   so the 1499 + 459 = 1958  is all I would spend.

Based on past history   the threadripper 3960x will be under 1000 by summer.

the 1920x is now 200-279 it came out over 500
the 1950x is now  500-700 it came out over 1000

the 2950x is now 679 at newegg

https://www.newegg.com/amd-ryzen-threadripper-2950x/p/N82E16819113542?Description=threadripper%202950x&cm_re=threadripper_2950x-_-19-113-542-_-Product

the 2970x is 1250 at newegg

it dropped  from over 2000
15463  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Mining Business Bank Account? on: December 05, 2019, 03:46:38 AM
What seems to be the problem here? I don't see any direct relation on a mining business having problems having their own bank accounts? If you open up a normal account for your business and your transactions are only from liquidating your crypto to fiat then I don't think they will flag this for any kind of restriction especially if it's just an inflow of USD. Or if you just want to have a peace of mind I think what the previous members have suggested are good banks as well, at least you have that option.

wells fargo questioned me about depositing money from coinbase.

but that was years ago.
15464  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: AMD Ryzen 9 🖥️ 3900x RandomX mining benchmarks on: December 05, 2019, 03:40:35 AM
Mining a CN/R coin like Lethean gives no trouble at all.
It was mining it until now. But I want my 4300 H/s monero hashrate from it.

Supposedly you need to turn off  Opcache in bios

Does that go for another name? Can't see that option.

It's a Gigabyte B450M DS3H.

Common options Then AMD CBS/CPU

So i belive its in the M.I.T section.
Then go to Advanced CPU core section
Then Opcache control, Then just disable

i wonder how it is in the taichi x399 board.

i think i did it correctly but i am not at 6000 or 7000 with. my thread ripper 1920x. i am doing 4900-5100

which is better then the 600 i was doing. i used a different option something like cbs/cpu

But I am persistent. I also have 8000 in paypal in orders with them.

If I have to I will put in a claim with paypal on the orders for 1139 which is what they say they owe me.

This is their own doing.  Tell me I am owed 1139 then don't pay me a refund or give me a credit. Is the stupidest business method I have ever seen.

I wrote another email:

Okay I thought about this. You did not give me the 1139 usd adjustment on my order which you told me to put in to get the credit. At the moment I have six orders on paypal credit with you.

I will have to say I don't understand why you do not fix my problem. I will send and attachment showing the paypal orders I have current with you. It is a simple thing to reduce a paypal order with a refund of the 1139 usd.

I am going to have request a refund of 1139 on my paypal order placed on October 16,2019 you have told me I am due 1139 usd. You can credit me a refund to my paypal order.

I will wait for a reply and then contact paypal for a refund if you do not refund me the 1139 usd to my btc address.
These delays are terrible on your part. I simply do not understand why you are doing this to us. I have ordered more then 100,000 usd from you since 2015. My 2019 orders since August are over 15,000. I sent my clients to you and they ordered 10 s17 pros from you in October of this year. My other client ordered 6,000 in gear from you this year. this is more then 35,000 since September. I am a good customer and you are causing me grief over a 1139 credit. Fix it!

Best regards Philip Axxxxxx

aka philipma1957 of bitcontalk.org

If I have to claim  with paypal I will claim for 1139.00  I owe 8000 in orders on paypal to them.  The idea to not refund me is so dumb it is pretty much unreal.  All those orders are eligible for paypal protection. So They could end up with a lot of paypal claims against them  far more then the 1139 they owe me.

I will stay on top of it as they have now admitted they owe me 1139 credit.  Plus they did not adjust  a btc order or a bank order  when they asked me to put them in.
15467  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain to release S17E 64TH on: December 04, 2019, 07:46:09 PM
the s17 responds extremely well to underclocking/volting in testing, so far

yeah i can get good numbers with mine.

i purchased a s17/s17pro controller as a spare .

it can flash to either one so i made it a s17 pro controller.

put in place of the s17 and tested the mod.

very happy with low setting.

all this is in prep for 1/2 ing if needed i can go more efficient.

the s17 pro controller will work on my s17. it will show the gear as a s17 pro.

it will do the lowest setting flawlessly.

it needs an occasional reboot on middle speed.

it does not do well on turbo runs very hot and shuts down.

but the low setting it is very good.

i only played around with one s17 as i only have 1 s17.

Hi guys.. I have a problem here and I hope you guys can give some advice. I just installed my M20s 4 days ago... it was running fine at first but after around 14 hours to 16 hours... it fluctuates and the hashrate keeps dropping and on and off by itself a few hours and then it runs again... it has been like this for these few days already. Sometimes it shut down and I reboot it to start again. Anyone facing this problem before? Or am I unlucky to get a faulty miner Sad

hard to say.

do you check fan speeds and temps?

if fans are doing over 6000 rpm and the gear is  over 75c   the room could be too warm.

these are power hungry units.

do you use  proper cables?

is your power 210 volts or 220 volts or 230 volts or 240 volts.  or worse yet do you sag to 195-200 volts?

Your company has face lawsuits in the state of California So I ask why are you not fixing this issue for us.

The thread is 8 pages long and has 10,000 plus views. Just give the refunds and the credits .

The email you sent asked for me to make an order I did you did not give the credit. So give me the refund!

the t17e is not much. one speed and pulls 3356 watts

gear like this is poorly designed and serves not much purpose.

as 3356/53th = not too good.

it runs hot in a very well vented room.

i do not recomend buying the t17e or the s17e.

the s17 and s17 pro are better since they have multiple speeds.

yeah i know run gear hard and fast seems good way to earn coins.

well the gear breaks and overheating happens.

if you can cool or vent gear ⚙️ properly it is okay. but lots of us don’t ac we only vent .

in the summer turning gear down is good option.  and the 17e gear does not have it.

After careful review I think it will allow me to send  bitmain a transfer of money.

It would be a lot easier then opening a bank account  just to send them money.

I will experiment with it on a cheaper order.

Also, delaying the refunds until next year may make their books look better for their next IPO attempt...

My 3 S17 pros bought on credit were delivered yesterday, now just waiting for my host to get them up.

For anyone who wants to order by bank transfer, check out https://transferwise.com

They have by far the cheapest international wire transfers, and you can cash out from many exchanges directly to them with no fee using ACH.

The cost for my last wire transfer to Bitmain was $4.60 vs. $45 from my bank directly.

You sir are a trooper and a real help I just went to this thread to ask exactly what you posted. Grin

I will try this next. I will report back.

Thx, been debating this or a 1920x or a 3600 for a htpc that will background hash. So Ryzen lineup is heavily bandwidth dependent? I'm aware that ryzen performance curve peaks at ~3600 ram spd so is that we are seeing with randomx as well?

my 1920x got around 7kh/s. overall the build was $500-700. Amazon has a deal going for $200 for the 1920x. I probably went overboard with the amount of ram. I thought it needed 2 gb per thread... no, its 2gb per numa node. and 1920x is just 1 node. So you could get away with 8gb to 16 gb prolly.

Some help on setup my rig is under preforming big time. i have a threadripper
