15541  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am 90% sure that "EhVedadooAnonimato" is Satoshi on: May 17, 2015, 12:34:51 PM
Wait, he also has a few posts in French.

Here is one of them:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=36147.msg480053#msg480053

So, what does that mean if he could also converse in French? There could be a blood of French, Portuguese, and British in his identity. That is not uncommon to happen.
15542  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Electronics for bitcoins? Feedback :) on: May 17, 2015, 12:30:34 PM
Quick question: how can we confirm the legitimacy of your service? Nowadays, I could probably set up a site wherein I'll offer my peers this things for this cheap. Also, being a new service, it is pretty shady if you'll only do bitcoin transactions because apparently, most of the time you could run away with the money with the minimal risk of having sued by your customers because bitcoin isn't accompanied (at least on my knowledge) to some theft laws. There are no laws existing for customer protection when it is payed in bitcoin.

Last one, will you be selling pc parts?
15543  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am 90% sure that "EhVedadooAnonimato" is Satoshi on: May 17, 2015, 12:19:13 PM
I still can't see how the rising numbers of threads like these are useful for discussing around... As many said before, Satoshi wants to remain anonymous for a reason. Let's just leave him in the shadows. Besides, EhVedadooAnonimato doesn't even seem to be Satoshi, at least for me. Back in the days, not only Satoshi was knowledgeable about Bitcoin...

I get the point that "This is Satoshi" threads are quite annoying, but if you look at some of the posts of EhVedadoOAnonimato, you might even think that the user is in fact Satoshi. If you look into the user's post history, some of the posts are very striking and remarkable and sometimes, remind me of how Satoshi writes his replies. Idk if this is just a feat of the user to resemble Satoshi's style of writing or this is the same man behind Satoshi. Whatever the case is, let it be. Satoshi doesn't want to be bothered in the first place, that's why he tried so hard to keep his anonymity.
15544  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I am 90% sure that "EhVedadooAnonimato" is Satoshi on: May 17, 2015, 11:06:46 AM
It made me think twice and read more of his posts, and it seems that this certain user is very knowledgeable on different subject areas. He also seems to know some core developers personally that it's giving me a hint that certain devs are within his inner circle. However, the Satoshi that we know isn't engaging in some flaming discussion that might end him "insulting" the other one who's stressing a wrong point. Take a look at this one:

Heh. So if I say DPR was an anarcho capitalist and also not a nice guy (two things that are very likely to be true), that's an insult, but calling me an authoritarian is not an insult?

Of course it's an insult. I actually said "authoritarian asshole" IIRC. So, yeah, I wanted to insult you, after you broadly compared ancaps like me with potential murderers. I believed I've manage to control my temper better than you did, though.

EDIT: Once more justusrainver put it better than me, so I'll just quote him:
Now I'll add on "disingenuous" to "authoritarian". Instead of owning up to what you said, you're now trying to obscure the issue by subtly rewriting history to change your quote into something other than what it was.

You didn't say "DPR was A and B", you said "Because DPR was A and B, we shouldn't be surprised of C".

Let's replace B with a different adjective, just to make the bigotry blindingly obvious for all the spectators:

"By the way - I'm amazed at how many people are surprised that a drug dealer with extreme black tendencies turned out to be not a swell guy! Imagine that!"

You'd never dare say something like that in public, because that group isn't an socially acceptable target for bigotry any more, but you're more than willing to smear anarcho-capitalists the same way because you think no one will call you out on it.

Briefly: Ulbricht subscribed to a philosophy that boiled down to "the state is inherently bad and must be overthrown". He explicitly said that was his belief several times in public. Why do you think people tolerate or support the state, as a political institution? It's because we know what the world looks like when the state becomes weak or disappears. It looks like Mexico or Somalia. Not some peaceful, non-violent utopia but a place dominated by men like Ulbricht - people who are quite willing to assassinate anyone who gets in the way of their business empire.

Sigh... I won't derail this rapidly growing topic. But you're just ignorant and should read a bit more on ethics and economics.

The user is interesting, tbh, because he almost got the same writing style and knowledge (Huh) as Satoshi (well, the Satoshi we know). His knowledge in economics and certain fields are almost on par with that of Satoshi's. Idk but it could be possible. Who cares anyways? Let Satoshi be Satoshi forever.
15545  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you have a favorite city or country to spend time and Bitcoins? on: May 17, 2015, 09:42:29 AM
Well the really cool thing about it is that you can virtually be anywhere and buy anything through the magic of VPN.  Thanks to the internet and virtual currency we can truly be world citizens in a nearly borderless virtual world.  No Passport required!

Yes this is really a true benefit of the internet. You can go shopping anywhere in the world anytime you like without any passport or such. But sometimes, it is better to experience the shopping experience physically rather than virtually. If there is a dedicated shopping district solely for bitcoin, I would definitely go there if I have the time.
15546  Economy / Economics / Re: Let's Be Honest. We Are Waiting for $100/BTC to buy on: May 16, 2015, 04:41:36 PM
Seeing price fluctuations every now and then, I've lowered my buying on btc to something that I can bear losing and wouldn't mind at all. Yes, in case btc falls down within the $100 range, I'll surely buy a ton because I know almost everyone would be doing the same, which would result to some nice profits for me. But it is highly improbable to happen, because there are still a lot of buying happening within our sight. Also, the traders who are spending their days on trading wouldn't simply let that happen.
15547  Economy / Economics / Re: Tax & Hoarded / Hodl Coins on: May 16, 2015, 04:36:50 PM
It depends mainly on the laws regarding taxes in different countries. In my case, bitcoin isn't taxed by the government even if you got something from it. The government here in my country don't care about your gains unless it reached the million peso barrier. That would definitely ring a bell in their ears.
15548  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How did you do to Earn your coins on: May 16, 2015, 04:30:08 PM
When the first time I knew about Bitcoin, I earn it by playing some faucets. And I just earn maybe 0.0001, and it's when Bitcoin price still in $500. And then I moved to the solo mining, I mined some doge and earn $5 maybe for 2 weeks. But then I couldn't do it again, so I moved again to the faucets. After maybe 2 months later, I found an amazing topic that lead me to here. So now, I could earn $6/weeks by myself Smiley

faucets need to be played in mass to be profitable if you open only one tab you can't earn anything, but with 10-20 tab and a rotator in everyone it's a different story, maybe a bit stressful but if you are young you can surely do it

Yes its true that you need more than one tab and the payout is good enough but you must need so much time to clicking the captcha and its boring enough and its just wasting your energy to clicking the captcha one by one? Better if you got bot to do it, it will be much easier but to find bot nowadays is rarely so better for me to get out from that faucet things

I don't think a bot could actually accomplish things such as captcha entering because captchas are invented to battle bots in the first place. You need to do it manually if you want to get paid. You can't complain because after all, money needs to be earned with a lot of hard work, and even entering captchas and clicking buttons are considered one.

But someone will buy that auto captcha to accomplish it so he just open their pc or laptop for 24/7 then his bitcoin will flow like a water. I dont know how much is the price for that auto click. If you use like imacros or something like that. I ever found thread about someone post their script to earn from faucet but I can't recall it for now since I didnt use any faucets now

Captchas aren't limited to clicking. You need to enter some text that are presented to you and it is randomized in every instance. How could a bot possibly do that? Even an automated script couldn't possibly be created to guess what would be the next combination of texts and numbers to be inputted in the text box.
15549  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did you mine it or buy it? on: May 16, 2015, 04:27:23 PM
I bought worth $5 BTC and invested it. After days goes by I already have now $100 but it's hard to earn it.
would you care to share what did you invest your $5 worth of bitcoin in and also how long did it take you to reach $100 ?

most likely altcoin "investments". these can explode in price from time to time. if not, then i also want to know how you made $100 with only 5 bucks.
although i doubt if he meant days literary but it is not possible to make 5 bucks into 100 in days by trading, unless you have a crystal ball to tell you the future.
with gambling, though it is possible! but rare

It is possible for you to grow your investment in the altcoin scene by a thousand % in a span of a month, and that is only achievable if you picked the "right" coins and the right time on entering the scene. I highly doubt that he made those within days, but it is possible. There are coins that shoot up hundreds of percentage rise in a course of 30 minutes, and if you're lucky and clever, you could make a good profit from it.

Hi Girls,

awesome exchange which you have!

But why is our withdrawal minimum at 4 BTC? .....

Wait, what? Minimum withdrawal of 4 btc is a requirement now? Huh

to dothebeats:
of course not. We didn't raise any withdrawal limits.
This limitation issue is related to promo gift certificates only.
And in CoinAwesome's case it will be fixed soon.

Just visited the site. It seems that it's some bug on CoinAwesome's case. Btw I have some question, are the fees on the debit card going to change? Because I find it too much for me to handle. I want to get one, but the fees are stopping me from doing so. Sad
15551  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nick Szabo, Wei Dai... Who are their employers? on: May 16, 2015, 04:11:44 PM
....
If Nick Szabo is 85 years of age at the time of this writing, then probably it wouldn't be him in that photo. Even if that photo is taken years or even a decade ago, still it wouldn't make any sense that it is in fact Nick Szabo. The man on the picture looks like around 30-40 years of age.

nick szabo is not 85...

Yes, who has said that he is 85 years old?  Only due this post:

Was employed at Lockheed, Link-Singer, and KLA (KLA was named after its founders, Ken Levy and Bob Anderson)

And Nick Szabo is 85 years old

His age and former employers are not included in the Wikipedia article.  And there is no verified photo of him.

With any reference link?

Have you clicked the link below the post? There is a pdf file there wherein you could read the claims posted here by TippingPost.
15552  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nick Szabo, Wei Dai... Who are their employers? on: May 16, 2015, 04:07:52 PM
nick szabo is not 85...

This is where I saw the claims that Nick Szabo is already 85 years of age:

Who are their employers?

Nick Szabo the one born in 1930, graduate of UC Berkeley, resident of Silicon Valley (Cupertino), employed at Lockheed, Link-Singer, and KLA,

Also, how can you say that Nick Szabo is not 85 when there are so many uncertainties regarding his identity? There are even no known picture of him in the internet.
15553  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Satoshi expect Bitcoin to last this long? on: May 16, 2015, 04:05:06 PM
Just wondering what you guys think was this just a project that he made whilst being drunk in univeristy and decided to release it and it caught on fast or did he know that it was going to get this big?

He designed Bitcoin in a way that the supply would keep being filled with new coins until year 2140... so yes, he expected it to change finances forever and to last more than we'll ever live and beyond.

He also probably designed it to consume more and more power over time and cause much larger problems other than solving the problems in the economic and finance sector. The PoW method, over time, will consume a large portion of power of the world if bitcoin continues to go mainstream. If PoW remains to be the method of acquiring bitcoins, then we'll probably need another project to at least use those wasted power into something other than mining digital gold.
15554  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nick Szabo, Wei Dai... Who are their employers? on: May 16, 2015, 04:00:26 PM
Nick Szabo is Satoshi. For real.
That's my opinion as well. But I doubt he is 85 years old. And I doubt Nick Szabo is his real name any more than Satoshi Nakamoto. Interesting the lack of any photos (I think I once saw a photo claimed to be of him, showing a mid-aged Caucasian male).

His website mentions giving at least one public address about ten years ago. It would be interesting if anyone can claim to have met him from his speaking events and could shed any light. My recollection is that his name does not match up with any Washington univ. faculty.

I have found this image of "Nick Szabo":

That is Mark Kareles right? Or is my mind playing tricks on me today? I am not sure anymore..!

Mark karpeles? Yes he seems him, but the one in the image is not karpeles but someone else who is named "Nick Szabo" but I also think that it is only a pseudonym like "Satoshi Nakamoto".

15555  Other / Off-topic / Re: Pussy coin ? :p i dont really find the whole money thing makes any sens... on: May 16, 2015, 03:49:35 PM
i think your post makes less sense actually

but we really need those stuff you mentioned for survive, those stuff are mandatory they should give us for free, so we can use money for something else, something that will bring us happiness

If the necessities of life are provided for free, then money would be less significant because there are only "wants" that we can buy. I hope that the necessities in life be given for free, but I think that would be too far fetched. Money changed everything since it was used by our ancestors. Why? Because ever since money was used, the concept of evil began to take form. For you to get by every damn day, you will need to have some money on your pocket just to eat and pay for utilities and whatnot.
15556  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Satoshi expect Bitcoin to last this long? on: May 16, 2015, 03:33:19 PM
I think he was expecting for years that the BTC will be a successful and useful to the economy.

I think so too. Maybe even decades.
Or he is one of us, pretending to be someone else. Maybe a big exchange admin...impossible to say

no it isn't, he was talking precisely about big farms in the future, so he was expecting something, he was expecting that bitcoin would last many years, this mean a partial success at the very least

also he was talking about the 10 min confirmation, what that thing could have caused, and he say that it would not be a problem, because of node propagation ecc..

every word he wrote makes you immediately think how he foreseen everything about bitcoin in the future

Funny how almost everything he wrote on the whitepaper and on forums actually came true. I wonder how he did it, but I honestly believe that a single person couldn't achieve such a feat alone. It is possible that bitcoin's concept and code is made by a group and not only an individual.
15557  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Satoshi expect Bitcoin to last this long? on: May 16, 2015, 03:24:15 PM
Just wondering what you guys think was this just a project that he made whilst being drunk in university and decided to release it and it caught on fast or did he know that it was going to get this big?

Satoshi was a scientist at a major power company looking for ways to artificially increase the world's power demand. The POW (POwer Waste) technology he invented earned him an early retirement along with numerous bonuses and stock options.

This statement got me. The Proof Of Work method of minting new coins is actually a bit of a stretch to the world's ever increasing power consumption. As difficulty goes up, more and more machines need to solve complex mathematical equations so as to mint new coins, which I think isn't feasible in terms of power consumption. It will require more and more power, and that means we could easily deplete our resources faster than ever. I don't know but as I view it, the demands for power to produce new bitcoins is kinda alarming.

15559  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTC in your country on: May 16, 2015, 10:34:31 AM

With the above methods of identification you've just stated, we're lucky that banks here don't implement those. Only a scan of 2 valid IDs and proof of billing among others are the only requirement for you to start a transaction with the banks. Some banks on other countries are just too damn invasive. I can't live with that, honestly.

Yup. It's madness. At one point a few people reported that Bitstamp were asking to see peoples' tax records.

All I need to do in the UK to buy or sell a few billion in shares is prove where I live and sometimes photo ID.

Same thing here in the Philippines. You only need a scanned valid ID and recent pictures of yours and you probably can do a million dollars worth of spending or buying stocks etc. However, as easy as the methods are in the beginning, it will begin to creep you out because apparently, a million dollar purchase here in our country rings a bell to our tax department. Sad Tax tax tax.
15560  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gaming on the Blockchain on: May 16, 2015, 10:21:27 AM
The idea of gaming on the blockchain has been suggested several times throughout the board. The main problem yet is that the block time is still relatively high. To create games based on the blockchain you need block generation times of less than 10 seconds.

If the block chain is only being used as a method of transferring in-game assets and purchases, then block time is probably fine. However, if the mechanics of the game per se is on par and follows the real-time block time, the block time would probably affect the game.
