I think Krugercoin, Valuecoin and CryptogenicBullion are good candidates too, low blockreward. Smiley
But hashrate / diff is still a little low. Should wait for that.

RedCoin, XenCoin, GameCoin could be nice for the LTC market.

The LTC market is a graveyard, so be it. Please add all coins to BTC market first! Then if hashrate and volume are low, MOVE the coin to the  LTC market. Starting a coin in the LTC market is not fair to the coin. Many supposed crap coins that started in the BTC market have blossomed. It just takes some time. Starting a coin in the LTC market gives them no chance to develop a following!

Starting every coin in the BTC market removes any bias against any particular coin and levels the playing field. reducing complaints and criticism. For example IFC gets added to the BTC market and FLO goes to the LTC market. A lot of people thought it should have been the other way around. But hey putting IFC in the BTC market didn't work out so into the LTC market it goes. Why wasn't FLO given an equal chance???

Also why would you take the advise of any particular person regarding the merits of any particular coin? For example maybe the previous poster is a dev for a competing coin and wants to see his competition in the graveyard market. The claim is that people want to trade in LTC but the trade volume on coins in the LTC market is very low. It is a graveyard and some people want some coins buried for their own reasons.

Come on, make it all fair!! Start all coins in the BTC market!!

Yea I cant quite fathom why some coins start off in the LTC market while others start off in BTC? Makes no sense when you look at the merits of some of the coins that end up (or start off in) either market.

I research and rank the coins they make it for all kinds of reasons. BigVern makes the call "gets the itch" and adds them based on the information in the list. Some that went straight to LTC are do to our LTC traders wanting a good coin Florin was best of the bunch so it went to LTC. Mastercoin was discussed with the dev and it went to LTC. Doubloons was requested to go straight on LTC market. Many factors are involved in where they go.

Litecoin supporters I am sure would not agree that every coin should hit BTC first.

I think part of the negative view of the ltc market is it being named "secondary". Should just use "btc market" and "ltc market". Secondary automatically makes people think as lesser. Just my opinion.

So when are we going to start seeing some action with this 'coin'?  I have a whack of it now and I want to gamble/spend it.  And what's with the seemingly ONE miner that pops in every few hours just to push the difficulty up?

Edits have been made to the code to improve the currency and push it to the next level. I will be creating an announcement thread as time allows this weekend, so keep a look out.

I have no answer to your mining question, but I would expect the difficulty to continue to sky rocket so enjoy it while low. It was .05 a few days ago and surged 1400% to .7 yesterday, now floating in the .35 range. All over the map, but as the announcement comes out, I think you will see a rise and stabilization (or continued rise). Stay tuned my friend and thank you for your mining and support!
1569  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / CGB looking good! on: July 12, 2013, 08:31:01 PM
~ 22.5k blocks mined so far (22.5% of the 100k block cap - only 1 million CGB will be created)
~ 27.5k blocks to go till subsidy halves
Difficulty is up 1400% from a couple of days ago
Update announcements coming soon
New giveaways and bounties announced soon
Exchange soon???  Huh

Thank you all for the support!

So, can I already install it and create a wallet or is it better to wait for the update?

Thanks!

You can go ahead and install. Works fine, just has a checkpoint warning. I am using mine without issue in the interim until I can get max's help.

The old Mac client works but doesn't have the update. I will ask Maxpower to create the edited version as he is the expert.

Seems to be a non-issue.  The old checkpoint.  The client is still connected to the network and recieving payouts from pool. :}

Message has been corrected in the code, just need to build and release new binaries. Stay tuned

Thanks for staying on top of this, those messages are really annoying.  DGC wallet says it's synced but permanently looks like it is in the middle of downloading 100k blocks.  That kind of crap will make general users feel like they are using shoddy or broken software, and doesn't instill confidence. FWIW.

Please download to correct the "Checkpoint too old warning":

Let me know if anyone has issues with this. Will be making a unique thread to announce this soon with another promotional giveaway shortly...

1577  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Cryptogenic Bullion - News on the horizon on: July 08, 2013, 10:35:13 AM
Good morning all,
The last few days, I have been laying low so to speak not making many waves with CGB. The purpose was to free up some time for creating improvements to the currency thru coding and also scripting the second wave of promotional campaigns. Currently, just under 160,000 CGB have been mined (~16%) of the total. Mining difficulty is the lowest it has been since launch at .05 so there is a lot of easy mining to be done. If you are taking the time to read the fine print here, point some of your hashes at CGB, you will not regret it. I would like to take a moment to outline some of the news on the horizon for Cryptogenic Bullion:

1) New binaries will be released for download and use in the coming days via an official re-release notification. The edits to CGB will be to the block reward payout structure. Currently and thru the first 50k blocks (500,000 CGB) the block reward is 10 CGB per block. After half the CGB are mined, this block reward will halve to 5 CGB per block. This halving mechanism will continue to occur forever after each 50,000 blocks are mined. (i.e. Reduction to 5 CGB per block after 500,000 CGB are mined, then a reduction to 2.5 CGB after the next 50k blocks, etc.). This will continue until a baseline subsidy reward of 0.01 is hit where it will remain for eternity (0.5% yearly inflation). Obviously this will lead to a self imposed rate of diminishing returns pushing the scarcity concept while keeping the mining work active. Again, I strongly suggested mining now while the block reward is high and the difficulty is low.

2) An official CGB website will be created and launched. I have noticed the genius of this activity recently with MegaCoin and will be borrowing this from their playbook. (Note: if you are interested in being a part of this project, bounties will be offered for contributor roles - scaled based on level of contribution). Once the website is finished and launched, a Chinese version will follow very shortly.

3) Look for some promising news very soon on being added to a major exchange...

That is all for now. Thank you all for your support!
