1562  Other / Off-topic / Re: If you had 1000000 Bitcoins? on: October 18, 2014, 06:15:18 AM
I'm jealous of all those people that were in since the beginning.

Trust me, even if you were in since '09, you wouldn't be rich today unless you held your Bitcoins. I bought Runescape membership for 0.1 BTC in a time where it sold for less than $3. Regretting the shit out of those transactions

Where did that coal thing come from? Seems rather, spontaneous.

1565  Other / Off-topic / Re: Am I the only girl on here? : ( on: October 18, 2014, 06:11:25 AM
There are no females on the internet.

Haha why does everyone keep saying that? Is it a meme? Have I missed something?

Just for your reference: http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/there-are-no-girls-on-the-internet

 Grin

Surprisingly not a bad article, thanks. In briefly describing the history of girls (or rather of "no girls") on the Internet, it almost exactly parallels what we see today on Bitcointalk (and it's a good read for you young folk who've never heard of MUDs, MOOs, etc.)

Unfortunately it looks like Bitcointalk has only reached the 4chan phase, a.k.a. the "TITS or GTFO" phase. Hopefully, as (and if) Bitcoin gains popularity, this forum will be able to drag itself into the new millennium (easier said than done, since scammers will always be here with us...)

I'd say Bitcointalk is a business forum, I've yet to run across people trying to scrounge a date on here

Ah you would be surprised. I personally got a lot of msgs.

But again, you're probably the first female that is open about it.

You never know who could be a girl on here.
1566  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BitCoin Scamming Business is Booming! on: October 18, 2014, 06:10:05 AM
Scammers are everywhere, you can't trust any person in this world, real and virtual.

True. And I'm afraid that includes you after I got the following PM out of the blue:

Hey man, i really need fast response, i need to sell my bitcoins without any verification process.

If possible instant withdraw to paypal, skrill ect.

Localbitcoins is too slow for me, please share some website that you have used and its reliable (its a lot of btc for me).

I searched all possible exchanges and i couldn't find anything without verification.

Appreciate any help.

All the best,
futureazy

Now kindly go f* yourself.

This is ironic yet amusingly hilarious
1567  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Christian BS on: October 18, 2014, 06:08:55 AM
I've always wondered how Christians come to terms with books or sections lost, censored, and/or banned by early Catholics. The Bible's known to be incomplete, so how can someone take a leadership role of moral authority if the moral authority comes from an incomplete ruleset?

Look up the Gnostic texts, it's a whole new series that the Christians had tried to get rid of

It's hard enough keeping the Word pure when translating into different languages. We are blessed that God guided a lot of honest scholars to keep all that "junk" from being added to the Scriptures.

Smiley

The best part is when they "translate" things so it looks like "Oh, gay people don't get stoned under Biblical law. The Hebrew word was 'fondled'"

If a black guy is shot, the media will always portray him as a thug

1570  Bitcoin / Armory / Re: Armory synchronizing with network since last year on: October 18, 2014, 06:05:16 AM
There is something wrong with your set up. You haven't really given enough information for anyone to figure it out.

I just yesterday synced Armory 0.92.3 from scratch on a clean install of Ubuntu 14.04.1. It took less than 20 hours start to finish.

This was on an ancient (5+ years old) laptop with a Core2Duo running at 1.8Ghz and 3Gb of RAM. I did, however, replace the HDD with a cheap SSD.

Guess it's not designed to run on low end laptops, like mine:

Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3317U CPU @ 1.70GHz
4 GB RAM

I should upgrade for armory

Again, are you running an up-to-date version?  You said this problem has been going on for a year  Huh

I am, I've been following updates

Hello, I've been trying to synchronize on Ubuntu, every time it just says "Oh too slow using torrent blahblahblah" then snaps back to 0%, Then I restart it. Cycles been going on for a year now.

I have recieved 0.0475BTC of my 0.05BTC investment in 5 weeks, I hope to recieve the last bit.

This is not good, you leave your investors in the dark.
You promise 80% return in the first week OR
24% each week, well I got something in the middle.
How does that work?

I won't be investing into drawbtc in the future.

Wow I'm sorry to hear that mate.

I hope DrawBTC has answers

Hello, I think I have found some counterfeit Bitcoin on my DOS machine.

Where can I turn them in to the authorities before my device is confiscated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation?

You are a noob and an idiot. Go die.

Reported for suggesting suicide.
1579  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin wallet to synchronize by 2020 on: October 16, 2014, 04:43:30 AM
I thought that the OP worried about the block size by 2020, it will indeed become huge amount of data downloading by 2020, like several TB  Cheesy

That is a valid cause of concern
