1569  Economy / Auctions / 24 hours ***extremely rare oligoclase 1.68cts*** collectible dream Tanazania on: January 10, 2012, 08:02:33 PM
This is an extraordinarily rare gemstone that collectors will appreciate.  Oligoclase is so rare here in the colored gemstone center of Thailand that I have only ever seen it offered one time in the last eight years.  I have an extremely small amount of it for sale- most of the pieces are already sold and they went very quickly to some of my best clients in Europe, Japan, and the U.S.

This beautiful light mint bluish-Green gemstone weighs 1.68 carats and the dimensions are 8.99 x 7.03 x 5.52mm deep.  It is a superb example of oligoclase with VVS clarity (very very slightly included- only tiny and few inclusions) and superb cutting for a ton of sparkle.  At over 1 1/2 carats, this is a large oligoclase.  With very few quality crystals over a gram in rough weight, the material just does not cut large stones.  This gemstone was mined as a rough crystal in Tanzania.  It has not been treated in any way other than to be cut and polished.  This is a 100% natural rare gemstone.

We are conditioned to believe that if you have enough money, you can have anything.  In the world of rare gemstones that most certainly is not true.  Some money is needed, yes- but perhaps not as much as you might think.  Much more important is your source.  You need someone who understands the appeal of gemstone collecting, understands that beauty, rarity, and price need to come together to find a rare stone a new home.  You also need someone who has a lot of knowledge and experience in wholesale gem markets and who has made the efforts to meet the right people.

My wife, Melanie, and I have been very fortunate to meet an eclectic mix of rough and cut gemstone traders here in Thailand and because we are interested in rare stones ourselves it is much easier to serve clients who appreciate this niche in the gemstone trade.  While we source in Bangkok, the traders with whom we deal come from India, Sri Lanka, Guinea, Tanzania, and many other mining centers all around the world.

Because we are an extremely lean operation (not including me- I'm rather fat) we can offer prices that are virtually unheard of on rare gemstones.  Our apartment in Bangkok is only ten minutes by skytrain to the Silom gemstone district, so we don't rent an office.  Because we buy consistently we have the purchasing power to get considerable discounts from our suppliers.  We want to be your supplier for all colored gemstones.  If you are concerned first and foremost with quality, we would be a good fit for each other.  There are certainly dealers that sell the same gemstones that we do for less.  But they do not, and will not EVER sell the quality that we sell for less.  It can't be done.

This auction starts at 20BTC and the bid increment is 1BTC.

24 hour auctions move quickly- please bid now if you want to own this amazing example of an extremely rare gemstone.

1571  Economy / Auctions / Re: 24 hours ***rare 1.23ct chrysoberyl trillian*** alexandrite w/o color change on: January 10, 2012, 07:08:53 PM
Thanks Turbor!  I really like this stone.  Trillian is my favorite cut overall because it is so brilliant.  So much of the light that goes in through the crown comes back out to your eye.  This makes it sparkle like you wouldn't believe!
1572  Economy / Auctions / 24 hours ***14.62 cts Malachite from Zaire*** incredible greens! on: January 10, 2012, 07:07:35 PM
This is a most enchanting oval cabochon of malachite from Zaire, Africa.  The alternating bands of various greens are striking and really beautiful.  This stone is colored by copper- the same element that gives Paraiba tourmaline its world-renowned color.  The dimensions are: 18.01 x 13.16 x 5.22mm deep.  It is 14.62 carats in weight.

Shipping is included in the price of this auction and you will get a tracking number to keep tabs on your package.  Registered air mail is very reliable to most of the world.

Please let me know if you have any questions about this gemstone.  I am a Graduate Gemologist from GIA and gemstones are my life and my passion.  Since childhood I have been enthralled with stones and I am blessed to be living my dream in the colored stone wholesale center of Thailand.  Send me an e-mail at , I would love to hear from you!

This auction starts at 4BTC and the bid increment is .5BTC.  This auction will end in 24 hours so bid now to improve your chances of winning this very pretty malachite from Zaire!

1574  Economy / Auctions / 24 hours ***rose quartz 12.93 carats*** special cutting on: January 10, 2012, 06:45:36 PM
This is a great mix with a checkerboard top and a portegeuse cut pavilion.  The effect is wonderful in this gorgeous pink stone.  At 12.93 carats this is a big one, and the soft pink glow of rose quartz is always a winner for those looking for something a little bit different.  This is a fun stone to roll around in your fingers when you are tired of the small stuff!!!  The dimensions are 16.03 x 9.87mm deep.

This is a natural gemstone mined in Brazil.  It is untreated.  While some rose quartz on the market is dyed, we guarantee that this stone has had no treatments- no fissure filling, no heat, no radiation, no dye.  It is a natural stone just as it came from the earth, except for cutting and polishing.

This will ship via registered air mail from Bangkok, Thailand and should arrive in 15-25 days.  You will get a tracking number.  We always ship as soon as is humanly possible after you pay- we want to get this stone in your hands as quickly as possible.

Bid with confidence because you always have 31 days to return a stone that you are not delighted with.  Turn your digital currency into something with tangible value.  Gemstone collecting is a very rewarding hobby for people who are curious and naturally love to learn.  Gemology involves many aspects of global politics, physics and nature, economics, color, and beauty.  What a combination!

The starting price on this auction is 6BTC.  The increment is 1BTC.  Shipping is included in the price!  When we were selling on eBay years back, we managed to accumulate almost 700 positive feedbacks without a single negative.

Melanie and I work very hard to select all gemstones by hand and we only offer quality products.  The quality of your experience with Tip Top Gem is critical to our success and we realize this!  If you have any questions about this gemstone or just about gems in general, please do not hesitate for even a second to email me at dave@tiptopgem.com.  Gemstones are my passion and I would be thrilled to talk with you about them!
1575  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Tradehill or tradehell? on: January 10, 2012, 06:21:22 PM
Jered is working with me now so hopefully this will all get resolved with little more fanfare.  I was not impressed with MtGox, but exchangebitcoins.com was superb.  I was sorry to see them go.  Still, Tradehill has the potential to be the go-to exchange if they work out the kinks.

This thing with the banks is irritating as hell.  We all know that in business you have to "do what you say, and say what you do"- but when people upstream are not honoring their commitments it makes it hard.  Hopefully Jered will find a bank with integrity.

1578  Economy / Auctions / Re: 24 hours ***rare 1.23ct chrysoberyl trillian*** alexandrite w/o color change on: January 10, 2012, 11:51:10 AM

1579  Economy / Auctions / 24 hours ***rare 1.23ct chrysoberyl trillian*** alexandrite w/o color change on: January 10, 2012, 11:48:23 AM
This is a rarity in the marketplace that collectors clamor for- chrysoberyl.  When chrysoberyl changes color (emerald by day/ruby by night) we call it alexandrite, and it is extraordinarily expensive.  More affordable but still highly desirable and very beautiful, chrysoberyl is highly prized in this straw yellow hue.  This 1.23 carat gemstone also has extraordinary brilliance and is very clean- VVS clarity.  The dimensions are 6.80 x 6.95 x 4.16mm deep.

Chrysoberyl is probably so popular with gemstone collectors because all this beauty is natural- chrysoberyl is generally untreated.  This stone is untreated and we guarantee this.  This stone came from the earth in Sri Lanka and was only cut and polished- no heat, no radiation, to filling, no treatment.

If you are interested in building a collection of rare and valuable gemstones that are also incredibly beautiful this fine stone makes a great focal point.  Even people accustomed to gemstones and jewelry will be stunned by how brilliant and sparkling this stone is.

This auction starts at 20BTC and the bid increment is 1BTC.  The 24 hour auctions really fly by, so bid now if you are interested!
