1561  Economy / Economics / Re: Forget a return to office: We’re living in the age of side hustles on: December 15, 2022, 06:46:09 PM
It's a very difficult economic situation right now. Those who are working for the big companies, are constantly under pressure to ensure that they aren't fired. Still they do not know whether they are going to have their job in the coming month or not. So the situation is very different and the outlook is grim.

So side hustle is a requirement nowadays especially for people who are the sole bread earner for their family.  Probably this is what going to gain prominence as the loyalty and trust  is decreasing in the job field. It's all about making money in an honest and legal way. Time will soon become a premium.

I think the economic situation isn’t all that bright all over the world at the moment and there is little or no job security coupled with raging inflation in some countries. A side hustle is slowly becoming a necessity in our society as income gotten from the regular job is never enough for life expenses.

Low income earners have been long engaging in side hustles to foot their bills and survive in this harsh capitalist world we’re living in and it seems middle income earners has now joined the mix in looking for side hustles to survive. In these times, side hustles has become somewhat of a necessity. For an individual to comfortably live in any given society, your income must be far greater than your expenses.

Until the final whistle, the game is still on. The Moroccans could still pull a fast one and score two goals to push it into extra time and perhaps penalties. The match could very well end with 2 goals to 1 in favor of France. France met a tough opponent in Morocco as they’ve been playing a really energetic. They came with really high hopes and really tried their best.

It’s now 5 minutes into the extra time and France has all but won the game. Both teams have played well but France was the better team and really shown that they were the defending champions.

I bet the appearance of the French president have bolstered the morale and strength of the French team and made them go ahead to win the game. Mbappe is no doubt a skillful player and contributed a lot to the success of the team.
1563  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: December 14, 2022, 07:55:13 PM
It’s half time now and the scores of the match between France vs Morocco stands at 1 goal to nil in favor of France. The game has just been starting to heat up just before the half time. If the game had been allowed to go on, Morocco may just have scored a goal to tie the game just before half time.

I think France is playing fine to have scored the only goal of the game for the time being. But the Moroccans are playing superbly as well. In my opinion, If the Moroccans could continue with the momentum they had been playing just before half time, they will definitely score a goal to draw the match and perhaps go ahead to win the game. Anyways, it’s great to see the only African country left in the World Cup play fine and give France a tough time on the pitch as well.
1564  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Was Bitcoin project a failure after all ? on: December 14, 2022, 07:15:29 PM
You are right so far, bitcoin has not failed and it will continue to grow over time but none of us are scrambling to buy it, you can buy bitcoins anytime, anywhere, as long as you have an internet connection.

12 years have passed, and from a worthless coin now worth $18k, there is no reason to say bitcoin is failing, even if bitcoin won't be able to rise any further and stabilize at $18k, bitcoin is still a higher value asset than any other asset class. The people calling bitcoin dying or failing are the dumbest people we've ever seen.

I may have exaggerated a bit when I mentioned that people are scrambling to buy bitcoin. Yes, you could very well buy bitcoin anytime, anywhere with an internet connection enabled device.

I think with time, bitcoin would get more valuable as it gets scarce cause people won’t be willing to let go of theirs. So I think people are really buying and holding bitcoin whenever they can. They may not be scrambling yet lol, but they’re buying.

Skeptics and naysayers have been calling for the failure and death of bitcoin over the years and bitcoin keeps growing and getting stronger defeating their predictions and hopes over and over. So yeah, I think they can be  pretty dumb.
1565  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A class about Bitcoin is being taught at the university.I am an teacher on there on: December 14, 2022, 05:09:12 PM
You’re giving a lecture on bitcoin to a class at the university. If that were true, then it’s great. But at this moment, I’m inclined to doubt your story. Don’t get me wrong, It would be great news seeing lectures about bitcoin being taught in universities.
Perhaps you’re a lecturer or a professor at a university? Or you’re a student yourself?
Lately, there has been threads on here about teaching nephews, friends, pastor friends, and now a class at the university. It’s always good to see people advocating for the growth and adoption of bitcoin though lately, it seems we’re also looking for some sort of praise or acknowledgment from forum members for doing so.
1566  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: For them it's always about the money on: December 14, 2022, 04:31:53 PM
A bunch of YouTube influencers aggressively promoting the same stuff and at the same period of time. It should stink to high heavens that they’re being motivated to promote the same content on their platforms.
While the obvious thought is that, they’re being paid, some influencers actively promote some content cause they believe in it and want it to grow.

Everyone(including the so called influencers) has a personal and most times hidden objective and would directly and indirectly promote those objectives and that’s why we shouldn’t let anyone(influencers and others) think and influence our decisions.
1567  Economy / Economics / Re: Where should I invest? on: December 14, 2022, 06:19:52 AM
There is no doubt that at this time we must invest to improve the future, do not focus on active income because when we cannot work then we will regret, investment does not need to wait for us to be rich or have a lot of money, we can start with a small value for example $ 100 Then we add according to our abilities.

And good investment today is Cryptocurrencies because of the opportunity to continue to increase.
My investments have been put on hold because there are no funds left. All I want now is to find a job with a steady income. Now investing without losing money is equivalent to making money.

My advice to you is that you should invest in nothing until you get your income levels in check. You shouldn’t even be bothered about investments out you haven’t got a steady source of income(preferably several sources of income). Before investing, you should always come to terms with the fact that you could get zero on your returns on investment as there are always risks.
Never use money meant for other things to invest in some “special project” hoping to get some huge profit. I’m most cases, these special projects tend to end up being worthless. It’s always safe to have several sources of income so if your investments ever go down the drain, it wouldn’t be the end of the world for you.
1568  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: December 13, 2022, 11:19:37 PM
and now we will all have to wait and see who will take the other ticket in France vs Morocco.
can't wait for this match to see France slaughter Morocco for more than 1 goal like Argentina did against Croatia earlier, I think many people make predictions for the final later Argentina vs France because France is seeded in the semifinal match later even though there could be a surprise Argentina vs Morocco in the final also not bad, looks like it will, but i hope morocco loses against france because i bet on france

I wouldn’t exactly use the word slaughter but yes, I also can’t wait to watch the match between France and Morocco. It would be a very tough game as the Moroccans aren’t a walk over as we’ve seen with their recent games. Though, France is a more better team on paper. France is seen as the likely candidate to win and they’ve got the players as well as the techniques to pull off a win. France is favored to win the World Cup again but would face a worthy contender for the cup, Argentina.
I know I as well as millions of people and fans out there would like to see France vs Argentina clash at the finals of the World Cup. It would be a final to remember!
1569  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Why every casino got bad habits? on: December 13, 2022, 10:50:38 PM
As with almost every business, there would always be disgruntled employees and in this case, unsatisfied players. These players, when not satisfied with the services promised as advertised, would obviously lay complaints. It’s only natural to do so.
Keep in mind that not all these complaints are legit complaints. Some people just love cutting corners and when caught, would try to spin the tale all in order to suit his own narrative. Admittedly, there are various casinos that would try and withhold customer winnings for whatever reasons, I think the vast majority of casinos are in for the business and would not like a bad reputation hanging on its name.
1570  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Was Bitcoin project a failure after all ? on: December 13, 2022, 10:35:42 PM
Since I started being introduced to Bitcoin last 2017, nothing changed. Bitcoin is always a Bitcoin no matter what. I think why people noticed Bitcoin being a failure or why they are telling it, it for sure because of the price fo Bitcoin or even because they lost some money investing in Bitcoin.
They don't appreciate what Bitcoin is.

Nothing has changed as bitcoin is and would always still be bitcoin. Bitcoin has seen a considerable growth, in the slow but gradual adoption globally, to the increase in its worth and price over the years. I personally don’t think the price of bitcoin at any time(high or low) makes it a failure. The price of bitcoin, in my opinion can’t be considered a failure as the price has considerably risen over the years.
Bitcoin hasn’t failed as it’s still thriving and only getting better as more people adopt and utilize its functions.
1571  Economy / Economics / Re: From grace to grass:Reasons why a Well to do investor turned a nobody. on: December 13, 2022, 10:23:29 PM
The biggest mistake that most people do is this :

They scale up their living conditions and assets with the increase in their income. So to explain this....

When you earned say $10 000 per month, you bought a small car and your payment was small and you also bought a small house and your bond payments matched your income.  Wink

Now, you get a good increase and you buy a more expensive car and a bigger house. So a more expensive car, come with higher insurance and a bigger house have more maintenance and before you know it.... you are maxed out again.

Then the economy take a knock (Like Covid & War) and governments increase interest rates to protect themselves.... and your car payment increase and also your bond payments. So, before you know it, you cannot afford the car anymore and the bond payments on the house is to big.... so you have to sell it.  Roll Eyes

Tip : Do not compete with the Jones's ..... buy a good second hand car and a smaller house .... and stay healthy.  Grin

Yeah, living way beyond your means also would in most cases cause a decline in wealth and would very well cause literally anyone to go flat broke in a short amount of time.
An increase in the standard and style of living is always welcomed. But for some, cutting back on spending when income levels is dwindling is not acceptable as they’ve adapted much too quickly to the life of affluence. The saying,”cut your coat according to your cloth” has never been more right in this situation.
1572  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Exchange will go out of business if every Bitcoin is hold in private wallet on: December 13, 2022, 10:12:27 PM
You're really blame centralized exchange when the main problem why many people lost their funds are because their own fault/stupidity? there's no centralized exchange ever suggest their customers to leave their coins on their account! Just use the exchange like marketplace where you buy or sell the coin, then send it back to your non custodial wallet.

Although I always advice to everyone to stay away from centralized exchange, but for most people who don't care with privacy, I wouldn't blame them since it's their own choice and it help Bitcoin adoption.

Yeah, I think the main problems are the individuals who despite all the warnings and glaring signals, still choose to leave their funds on centralized exchanges and not the exchanges themselves. The centralized system xchamges are like you said, a market place where you could buy and sell your coins.

Recently, there is a scare making the rounds about binance going under. The scare is right now causing folks to take their funds off there. I wouldn’t call the scare a welcome development but it helps serves a purpose to remind people that centralized and exchanges are never to be trusted with your coins.
1573  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIFA 2022 world cup on: December 12, 2022, 10:06:25 PM
Argentina is better than Croatia but the world cup is too hard to predict.  The world cup is full of surprises,  I don't Croatia as a weak team, despite Argentina is a strong team they can make a mistake that will give Croatia to win.
The world cup is really difficult to predict, weak countries are really surprising us by winning the strong once, Argentina is having higher chances of winning the match, but Croatia have being surprising everyone in the world cup, any little mistake Argentina make, they might lose the match, Croatia players are really dedicated and they will try their possible best to win Argentina, it will be a tough game for the two countries, but I think Argentina should win the match.

This World Cup is particularly difficult to predict as the so called teams that have been considered weak and the underdogs have gone ahead to surprise their opponents. I was particularly wowed when top tier teams, Brazil and Portugal were eliminated out of the competition. This is football where literally anything could happen and we’ve been seeing it in this World Cup.
The Croatians know fully well they’re up against one of the top teams of the tournament and would obviously prepare to meet them. I think Argentina would probably come out the victor but I’ve been wrong on my predictions before  Grin

Year 2009, bitcoin was released and implemented as an open source software thus beginning the slow and gradual global adoption and use of bitcoin. Then, the number of bitcoin holders and users were but a handful and people really didn’t know what bitcoin was.

Year 2022; bitcoin is thriving as Earthlings have now been enlightened. People are scrambling to acquire and hold knowing it’s like a flower waiting to blossom. Negative predictions have been predicted and propaganda spread over the years all the while hoping for bitcoin demise. “Experts” have predicted the death of bitcoin over and over but bitcoin keeps getting stronger.

So, no. Bitcoin has not failed after all. Like all good things, it only takes time.
1575  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My first sponsored Bitcoin seminar on: December 12, 2022, 02:21:44 PM
Get paid with Bitcoin and pay with Bitcoin. Focus into that and you will be fine. If you instead go for "get rich quick" rhetoric, it won't do. Unfortunately it is the latter that attracts more.

The fact that you can actually preserve wealth with it should be seen as a bonus, but its not the main purpose.

Yes, it’s the notion that you could get rich overnight that mostly attracts people to the cryptocurrency space and sadly, some folks with nefarious and criminal intent are just waiting to eat all those ignorant and mostly greedy folks up. Get paid and pay with bitcoin sounds more better and is a more better approach to teaching newbies about bitcoin.
It’s not possible to get rich overnight with bitcoin and I dislike the fact that some folks see bitcoin as a get rich scheme and not as an alternative and somewhat better means of payment.

Wherever you are, you could check your stock market and I’m sure you would get about 5 good investments to invest in and none of them are cryptocurrencies. Cryptocurrencies aren’t stable and are very volatile and like most investments, would definitely not give you any return on investment any time soon.
You would only start to see some profits in the long run. That aside, there are lots of investments opportunities that carry less risk and volatility but the higher the risk, the higher the gain right?

Quote
Exchanges may have hard their bad influence on the cryptocurrency industry most especially the centralized exchange who has been nothing but tools in the hands of regulators and CEOs who act unilateral against the customer's will and have 100% control over the balance on the exchange.
Governments do their jobs by keep most of things in their control but I disagree to say centralized exchanges are tools of regulators and governments. Before stricter regulations on cryptocurrency market, we don't have enough evidence to make this conclusion.

I also disagree with the idea that exchanges have a bad influence on the crypto industry. We cannot deny that centralized exchanges have made a great contribution to helping users to access the market easily, they provide us with a lot of necessary services in the market. I firmly believe that most of the new investors entering the market come through centralized exchanges which are an easy place to start for newbies if they want to get bitcoins quickly and securely.

Maybe bitcoin holders don't need an exchange, but the crypto market certainly does, and exchanges are an important part of the market.

Exchanges like every other business is there for the business and also to make profits. They’re not necessarily a bad influence in the cryptocurrency industry. They have also got their uses in helping users buy and sell crypto assets. Some individuals today first heard, accessed and bought bitcoin through an exchange.
Although it has been reiterated countless times about how dangerous it is to leave your coins on the exchanges after purchase, people still feel somewhat comfortable leaving their coins there which is not too good.
Overall, I think exchanges have got a role to play in the adoption and growth of bitcoin and can’t be thrown aside.

It was a really dramatic ending for Ronaldo I'm afraid. He just burst into tears after Portugal were eliminated by Morocco. His final tournament with his national team really shouldn't have ended like this. They had such a potential for even the final round in fact. They were a very productive team in offense which was giving confidence to their fans also. But they were just desperate against Morocco defense. They shared the same fate with Spain as a result. I was really hoping to see an Argentina - Portugal finale.  Cry

Now it is time for Messi to do his best for Argentina. This could be his last tournament with his national team just as Ronaldo. At least Messi should be able to make it to the finale at least. But considering Croatia's tough defense I'm really worried about Argentina's fate.

Very dramatic, I must say. Ronaldo was very bitter as he shed some tears at losing out of the tournament after playing so well from the start. In football, the better team usually wins and the Moroccans were the better team of the game hence why they won. It was a tough game for Ronaldo and the loss might take a toll on him. He has now lost out of winning the World Cup with Portugal and also lost out on staying with Manchester United. I’m alarmist moved to feel sorry for him.

I’m cautiously optimistic about Argentina winning the game against Croatia. I do not want to have my hopes all the way up for Argentina only to have Croatia smash them. We’ll see how that goes.
1579  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: December 11, 2022, 08:54:51 PM
Indeed, they are back in a good direction before the break but it's still uncertain now and the chances I don't think have changed that they can still fight for the Champions League or Europa League Zone although indeed in this case some problems arose such as when Ronaldo left and rumors of a club sale which was busy recently.
We have to see the achievements made by Erik Ten Hag at the start of this season, he has shown a good improvement in Manchester United performance at the start of his coaching season, I believe Erik Ten Hag will be able to make Manchester United finish in the top 4 this season. manchester united has just built their squad to be stronger in the coming seasons. we just need to give erik ten hag a bigger chance in bringing manchester united into title contenders in the season to come. I don't think Ronaldo departure will have a bad impact on Manchester United performance in the second half of this season.

I highly doubt Ronaldo’s exit from Manchester United would have any negative impact on the general performance of the team. In my opinion, Manchester United is presently undergoing a transition. A transition into the good old glory days. And they could and are getting there well without the help of Ronaldo. Manchester United’s coach, Erik Ten Hag, is beginning to understand the dynamics of the team and utilizing what he knows to make the squad better and stronger. Manchester United has got the potential as well as the players to finish top 4 in the premier league and Erik might just make that happen.
1580  Economy / Economics / Re: Central Bank of Nigeria to limit cash withdrawals on: December 11, 2022, 08:33:46 PM
I did threw my weight behind this policy as adopted by the central bank of Nigeria from when I first got the news. Like it's what every good meaning Nigerian should applaud the CBN for having taken such a bold step to making sure the naira recede from dwindling in value against other currencies of the world. This money policy has a way of bringing out the Nigeria economy from the base it's currently in at least to an extent. It will definitely reduce financial fraud and misappropriation in the public offices and make room for some level of transparency based on the restrictions that be.

The regulations may seem to bring untold hardship for Nigerians in terms of how to go about with the new policy but with time Nigerians will get used to it and adapt as things go normal. The only area am much concerned about this new policy by the CBN is in the area of continuity should a new administration come into power after the March 2023 general elections.

I’m curious as to how exactly would this new policy that’s being rolled out help reduce financial fraud and most especially, help reduce the misappropriation of funds in the public sector. And how exactly does more transparency from the side of the government come into this?
In my opinion, this move is to curb inflation in the society by the reduction of the amount of cash currently in circulation and to help encourage the cashless policy.

In a country where corruption thrives, a policy like this would do little or nothing to curb financial fraud or misappropriation of public funds from corrupt public office holders.
