Truecrypt is still great software was long as you have the version before it was made not functional.
1562  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Circle is giving away $5/~0.021 BTC for new users on: May 29, 2015, 04:00:57 AM
Pretty sure this is already expired now.
1563  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: What Tax Do you pay when exchanging Bitcoin ? on: May 29, 2015, 03:58:50 AM
The tax laws are pretty confusing, but I believe if you purchase something with bitcoin, you are supposed to count the value of the item purchased as if you had sold bitcoin for the worth of said item.
1564  Other / Off-topic / Re: Trumpet noises explained. on: May 29, 2015, 03:54:17 AM
Interesting. I hadn't seen this video or videos like this before, but it does make sense that this could be caused by the transformers. Though I haven't personally heard them make this noise.

It would be awesome if there was some way to add a Quality setting to the site or something where you can choose between High/Low Quality graphics/animations. The Low setting would offer a less CPU intensive version of the site than the High setting. Perhaps this can be accomplished by just slowing the frame rate or refresh rate of the animations?
1566  Other / Off-topic / Re: 6 Years, not too bad for murder right? on: May 29, 2015, 03:48:30 AM
Wow that is pretty crazy and does seem like a light sentence for this. Guess it all depends whether there was actually intent or not.
1567  Other / Off-topic / Re: making a PDF on: May 28, 2015, 05:02:12 PM
There are many different applications that can create a PDF from documents or from an image file. Many scanners also support scanning directly to PDF format if you are scanning a physical document. There are also some applications for mobile devices that will take an image with your camera and turn it into a PDF file.
1568  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Just-Dice.com : now with added CLAMs : Play or Invest on: May 26, 2015, 09:37:42 PM
It is great to see profit for the site up but still hoping that Tiger can recover if he chooses to play the streak out.
1569  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Does martingale really works? on: May 26, 2015, 09:36:18 PM
Ouch, that is indeed a long losing streak. When martingale fails, it fails hard as this graph shows. Looks like there was a couple other pretty big losing streaks as the dips show crossing into negative territory a few times earlier.
1570  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CLAM] CLAMs, Proof-Of-Chain, Proof-Of-Working-Stake on: May 26, 2015, 06:39:43 PM
I guess buyers would have to trust you with their savings if they intend to fund the coins.

Yep, the buyer would need to trust the coin seller with all their funds as the seller would have access to the keys. Seems way too dangerous unless the address/key is generated using a partial private key similar to what vanitygen allows. This would also mean that coins need to be made to-order though, but would greatly increase the security.
1571  Other / Off-topic / Re: Tracking Jpegs on: May 26, 2015, 06:32:15 PM
All the info is in the image metadata. You can turn it off in your camera or phone settings. And don't some image hosts like imugr strip images of all this stuff when you upload them? Maybe try that for extra security. And who was this member? Maybe it's related to the hack?

Yeah, I believe that imgur and sites like facebook etc all strip EXIF data for security. Posting raw images is dangerous unless you first strip the EXIF data that contains the metadata.
1572  Other / Off-topic / Re: are you want to keep hold Bitcoin for 100year ? on: May 26, 2015, 06:29:58 PM
I don't think I will hold bitcoins past my lifetime. If BTC replaces fiat, then of course so, but otherwise, probably not.
1573  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ross Ulbricht Jailtime Poll on: May 26, 2015, 01:11:43 PM
I think 20 years should be all that he will get. However, it is possible that the judge will sentence for a longer time but I can't see the benefit in that.
1574  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Will 21 Inc chips bring in faster hash rate than existing ASICs ? on: May 26, 2015, 01:08:31 PM
Yeah, I believe that more mining power can only be good for the bitcoin network. It will be interesting to see what becomes of these chips.
1575  Other / Off-topic / Re: First Pictures From Inside Hatton Garden Heist on: May 26, 2015, 12:30:51 AM
Wow. They sure drilled a large hole through that concrete wall. Pretty amazing how long they were able to stay there.
1576  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which Browser you like most? on: May 26, 2015, 12:20:26 AM
Both Firefox and Chrome but I prefer Firefox. I am just hoping they finish the per-tab processes sooner than later.
1577  Economy / Gambling / Re: ➫ ➬ ➫ ➬ LUCKYB.IT ★ +1.3M bets ★ +60k BTC wagered on: May 25, 2015, 10:35:06 PM
Looks like it just got fixed. I am connected now. Thanks for fixing!

Thanks for the info and hope you are able to figure out exactly how it happened.

1580  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Disaster recovery discussion. on: May 20, 2015, 03:36:43 PM
Use a client that you can recover from a seed. If your comp dies or your wallets become corrupted or whatever you can still get your coins back. Of course you should also make several copies of your wallet.dat. As others have suggested you could print or write your private keys down but be careful that nobody has access to them or you write them down properly.

Yeah that is true. A client like this, called a Deterministic wallet ( https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Deterministic_wallet ) could be quite useful in this sort of situation.  Electrum is one of the more popular bitcoin clients like this.
