1561  Economy / Economics / Re: Replacement? on: March 23, 2023, 08:37:35 PM
It is far too early to make any real guesstimates at this point as to how things will play out.  In my opinion is it only inevitable that physical fiat money will be replaced. Whether that's with bitcoin or some other type of digital currency.  I think the worlds governments will first try and create their own centralized cryptocurrencies (much like some are already trying, such as China).  But if this does happen, its still going to take time and the bitcoin blockchain  needs to continue progressing.
1562  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: who Want To Bet On 2024 USA elections? on: March 23, 2023, 08:34:58 PM
As someone who lives in the United States, I'm not sure I'll be placing any bets on the election this year as I have no idea how things are going to pan out.  First off we still have to find out who's going to be the Republican nomination, which I think is assuredly between Trump and DeSantis.  Then on the Democratic said, I'm not so sure that Joe Biden will be running again.  I don't think the party wants him to run, not to mention both him and Trump are too damn old.  Neither are fit for office.
1563  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 23, 2023, 08:32:04 PM
So who do you guys think is the best team in the NBA right now? Much like college basketball and the current tournament going on, I feel like there is a great deal of parity inside the NBA.  I honestly can't say who I think has the best chance at winning it all this year, and normally it's pretty easy to at least make a couple guesses.  I guess the Phoenix Suns are one of those teams, perhaps the Milwaukee Bucks are another.  Then you've got the Celtics and teams like the 76'rs.

Really odd time in the NBA right now to be honest.  I love it though.
1564  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are Casino Sites Cheating Us? on: March 23, 2023, 08:28:47 PM
The truth is none of us really know.  I know there are some sites/games that they say are provably fair, but I'm still not so sure that is the case.  It's the same thing when you go to visit casinos in person whether that's at some place like Las Vegas or Lake Tahoe.  I just don't think there's truly any way for us to know if the games we're playing are actually not cheating us.  I would lean toward the latter, that they are..but I of course have no proof of this.
1565  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if a change in people's views? on: March 22, 2023, 10:10:35 PM
If everyone turned their fiat currency in to bitcoin then the world would be turned upside down.  This is something that's going to be a slow and gradual process. Remember the blockchain still has its limitations.  We've seen the repercussions of the blockchain being overloaded before and that would almost assuredly happen again.

As the saying goes , Rome wasn't built in a day. Things take time and this will take time as well.

At this point, we shall see!
1566  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How many BTC needed for retirement in 10 years? on: March 22, 2023, 10:07:00 PM
Please only listen to people who are actually licensed and trained to give this kind of information, and I can tell you that 90% of the people replying in this thread have absolutely NO CLUE what they are talking about.

As a financial advisor I would be happy to discuss this with you personally if you truly care and want to truly learn.  There are so many factors at play here and absolutely no one knows if bitcoin and ethereum with be worth 1 dollar or a million dollars down the road.

Always remember, ones portfolio must be diverse.  You must have traditional assets as the backbone of your portfolio first, then you bring in more risky assets , such as bitcoin.

People should stop trying to give advice that are not qualified to do so.  SMH
1567  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: March 22, 2023, 10:03:14 PM
I still do not understand this childish request of AD not wanting to play the Center position. In todays game there are only a few nba bigs that could be better than him at center position, embiid and jokic comes to mind but aside from them AD could go against anyone and could be better than them as well.

We are getting smaller and most teams have players that are smaller than AD and he still doesn't want to play that position. He doesn't need to be a traditional big men, look at Jokic, dude passes more than he shoots sometimes, or he doesn't have to be just inside, look at Brook Lopez, dude waits for threes on offense, he can be any type of Center he likes.

Well to be fair Anthony Davis is not center material.  He's the definition of a modern day power forward. I think perhaps it puts him in a position of having to get banged up too much.  I could be wrong, as I don't follow the Lakers that closely, but with AD's health issues over the years, the last thing they need to do is put him in any sort of potential compromising position health wise.

Can you only imagine how good his career would/could have been if he wasn't made of straight glass.
1568  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NCAA March Madness Tournament on: March 22, 2023, 10:00:19 PM
Day 2 of the madness had one of the biggest upsets in history of the tournament with 25 point underdog Fairleigh Dickinson beating Purdue 63:58 .

Entering Friday, 16-seeds were 1-150 in the opening round.

I mean on day 1 Arizona was already heavy as they obviously had the game under control and still lost.

But Purdue (ranked 3rd in the nation) losing to Fairleigh Dickinson is definitely another level of crazy..

On my bracket I had Purdue to win the whole thing, hahaha.

Well it's called march madness for a reason.

Lol you're right, there's a reason it's called March "madness".  Man my bracket completely busted by midway day 2.  I also had Purdue as the champion (as I've stated before he's the former coach of my alma mater Southern Illinois University.

As Yahoo had stated early on, this should be one of the best tournaments in a long time since so many teams are equally competitive .

I am in dead last place in my work league. Kind of embarrassing being that I actually know sports quite well, much more so than most of my co-workers who are doing much better than I am lol.  Ahh well, such is March Madness.
1569  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: March 22, 2023, 09:56:36 PM
@Hueristic. I very much agree. However, is Damien Harris a big running back improvement for the Bills if we compare him to Singletary? Why did Bill Belichick not let him play in his former role after full recovery from his injuries? The Patriots RB1 became Rhamondre Stevenson on the last few weeks of the regular season.

In any case, other trades are Jimmy Garopollo was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders, this might be a good improvement from Derek Carr. Another quarterback trade is Baker Mayfield to the Buccaneers, from the goat to Mayfield hehhehee.

Everyone can have Mike Evans on our next draft heeheheh.

@Hueristic.. well certainly, but he's also getting older and has taken a lot of beatings over the past few years.  That's why teams are scared to spend a lot to acquire him.

@BBC... Yes, Harris is a MASSIVE upgrade at the running back position for the Bills.  Harris is a very strong back with runs with authority and is exactly what that team has been missing.  Singletary sucks in my opinion.  If he didn't play on the Bills, his number would be far worse.  This was simply a fantastic pickup for Buffalo.  I'm very excited to see how things play out with him in that lineup.

That cheap bastard only sent my loot with a 1 sat per byte fee, I''l never get my lambo! Cheesy

DAMN, Henry on buffalo would be devastating!

I've been saying for a long time that the Bills need to do everything in their power to sign Damien Harris.  I have been dealing with some personal family crap for the past few days and had been out of the loop, to my surprise I saw that they just signed him.  What a pick up.  I'm a big fan of Damien, he's a hard runner and he's still quite young.  They had to get a star back like this in order to have a chance to advance past Cincy and KC...now they have that chance.   Going to be fund to watch!
1572  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: March 22, 2023, 02:08:33 AM
I'm a little late to posting this but I put down a few satoshis on the Bulls game last night just because I was feeling it for some reason, as well as the fact that they've been playing quite well of late, and was very happy to take home some money after being given points in the bet.  The Philly Sixers are a damn good team, and I think this shows how good the Bulls can be but I just don't understand why their inconsistency hasn't been there.  Drives me nuts.

Lets see how they do going forward I guess.
1573  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is a treasure. on: March 22, 2023, 02:06:12 AM
First off, bitcoin is NOT an investment, inherently.  I have tried explaining this I can't say how many times over the years.  Satoshi created bitcoin as a digital asset, something to replace and aging and dying banking system.  Bitcoin IS absolutely "property".  Why isn't it is my answer to you.  If you have a handful of $100 dollar bills, would you not consider that to be your property? It's the same principle here.
1574  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Buying cheap is best formula on: March 22, 2023, 02:03:06 AM
This is the number one rule of investing that I talk to all of my clients about.  Often when the stock market tanks I get calls from them panicking, and I simply explain how you dont actually lose anything until you sell.  I phrase it this way..when is the best time to go to an electronics store and buy a TV or computer or whatever...during a holiday sale right.  Same thing with the stock markets or bitcoin markets..when things are down, it's simply a sale in the market..ie time to buy!

Regardless..my brackets are bust , that was prob my quickest exit ever lol.
We may all lose our champ in rd 2. Duke is about to lose to Tennessee making 2 more people disappointed. Only leaves Kansas, Alabama, and my Huskies. We all lose in this round, it's still a game man.

So apparently we’ve got two randoms in this league.. two people joined but never told me ..who would do that lol. Not sure who you are yahoo.  One of those teams I thought was phishhead from the forum but he said he forgot. So..once I know who your team is we can get the real standings. My bad..didn’t know someone would weirdly do that ..certainly a first

Now, when is Heritage going to open up sales ..would be huge.
1579  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: 🏀 2023 NCAA March Madness Tournament Pool 🏀 on: March 18, 2023, 04:16:10 PM
Looks like 2 of you just took huge hits. Purdue beat by a #16 seed. BRUTAL!!! It's such a crazy year though, none of the teams are dominant. Still anyone's game at this point as points should go up each round. It's all going to depend on who gets the most teams in the Final Four IMO.

Yeap thats me 🙋‍♂️ Purdue was considered the best team most of this year I think weren’t they?  This is what you get when you make picks based on your heart not your head..I think Matt Painter coached for 2 years when I was at SIU, awesome coach. What in the f was this. Wasn’t this the second time or maybe 3rd that a 1 lost to a 16? SMH. You’re right the field is very even which is awesome, bud a 1 losing to a 16 shouldn’t happen. Fack.

@OG…I’ll run this again next year and remind you to get in. And yes, for ESPN there’s now 0 perfect brackets out of 20 million.

2nd time in history.  16 seeds were 1-150 in history and Virginia a couple years ago lost to a 16 seed for the first time.  Purdue lost last year to st Peter's  who was a 15 seed.  Weak sauce.  Funny thing is they had the tallest guy in college at 7'4" and  FD had the smallest team in the country.  Their biggest guy was 6'6" and edey (7 foot dude) got 1 shot attempt in the last 12 minutes.  Painter is getting fired...no doubt.

So just learned Painter actually played PG for Purdue for 4 seasons, while Bruce Webber was an assistant to Keady. They both came to SIU and absolutely killed it. Painter was an assistant under Bruce till he left for IL, his one year as my schools coach he was MVC coach of the year, and had us ranked #15 in the nation, which is huge of course for a mid major. Wheelz you prob remember those Saluki teams, we were stacked back then and the MVC had creighton (& Kyle korver) and Wichita state, so was a really good conference . When he left it all fell apart. The guy can coach and recruit, he’s 413-197 career at Purdue, last two seasons being his best w 29 wins. He’s likely not going anywhere anytime soon IMO…but yeah today was his worst loss ever that’s for sure.

Yep that conference was stacked as a mid major.  Nobody wanted to book them as part of theor non conference schedule in the beginning of the year.  Parity was good back them.  Probably right but it hasn't been a good look.  2021 they lost to a 13 seed, last year to a 15 seed and this year to a 16 seed.  They've had good seasons but theor tourny runs have been horrible.

We couldn’t get anyone to play us..even Webber, who was at SIU for quite a while, refused to schedule his own protégée /former team..despite knowing how much even just playing us would mean to the program. I remember reading an article in our school newspaper discussing it and being pissed off lol. We almost played IL in the tourney but they lost and we advanced..IL was my team growing up , so of course wanted to see them play each other.

Anyways I hear ya, his tournament losses have been a big black eye. Just feel like being an alumni player, coming off two big seasons and the fact that Gene Keady was there for an eternity, they may give him some more time.

Regardless..my brackets are bust , that was prob my quickest exit ever lol.

There is absolutely 0% chance the FBI or whatever other regulatory body this may fall under, goes after sig wearers. ZERO chance. If anyone is actually worried, don’t be. I wouldn’t lose a half second of sleep.
