I quite liked the trust machine book.
You liked it so much you necropumped this thread right out of the grave with a one-liner that no one gives a shit about.  Admittedly the thread wasn't ice cold yet but still.

That must've been a bookstore because I've never seen those magazines at the normal places that sell magazines nowadays, pharmacies and supermarkets.  Still, I guess it does show what OP posits, which is that bitcoin is starting to become a mainstream thing.
15622  Economy / Speculation / Re: um.. why is the price going up? on: February 18, 2016, 08:54:28 PM
The Chinese market fell, and then closed down, oil is keeping to fall, it's very close to the 30 USD mark. I could imagine the European market fall today aswell. I don't know which markets are going up, but then again, this was just some quick news headlines i saw on my way to school.
All of those things happened I'm sure, but you're making the same mistake that financial news journalists around the globe make, which is relating price movement in X to events in Y.  Sometimes it might be true, but you basically listed all the things you read as headlines without thinking about why any of them would affect bitcoin.
15623  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could you share Your first time BTC Experience? on: February 18, 2016, 08:51:38 PM
Known about bitcoin for about 4 years now, since 2013 when it was really making the news because of the bubble it was in at the time.  Maybe before, time is a blur for me.  Didn't buy my first bitcoin until last year around March and I didn't join this forum until then either though I lurked for a long while.

The only time I spent bitcoin was to buy some silver coins from Provident and I could have done it much more quickly and easily with fiat, and next time I won't use bitcoin.  Bitcoin is good for little transactions on forums like this and for storing value without taking up space.  I don't like it as a currency.
15624  Other / Meta / Re: Theymos gonna have a look here ! on: February 18, 2016, 08:47:34 PM
Hate to say it, but that's what you get for buying an account--whatever your reason was for actually doing that.  You take huge risks.  It's a shady thing to do but I don't think you necessarily deserve negative trust if you didn't hack the account but that's now on you to prove.  Don't feel shame if you didn't do anything wrong.  If you do, that's also on you but you're not getting much sympathy here.
15625  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How much BTC have you gambled? on: February 18, 2016, 04:44:59 PM
Almost exactly 0.12 which I did just recently buying and selling a small amount of ETH.  Never do that again.
15626  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does the b standard for in "b-money"? on: February 18, 2016, 04:42:24 PM
Blood?  Broadcast?  Binternet?  Belectonic?  Bitcoin?
15627  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin halving on mythical date: June 21, 2016 (midsummer!) on: February 18, 2016, 04:38:17 PM
Not a big deal except I'll be looking forward to much warmer weather where I'm at.  The bitcoin market is much more efficient than you and a lot of others give it credit for.
15628  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Hello Yobit-Spammers or why our Society is so poor on: February 18, 2016, 04:19:44 PM
Other way of looking at it would be thanking yobit for allowing new accounts.
How many people stick around and become more invested in bitcoin and the forum due to this aspect? I know it brings a lot of crap posts but they are the first stop for many, increasing the number.
Bringing people into the fold should be priority for all of us and this sig alone achieves that.
Yes but an even greater number don't stick around because they get banned for shitposting, copy-pasting posts and tons of other offenses.  And rightfully so.
15629  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Master-P's scammed funds summary. Post your case here if you were scammed. on: February 18, 2016, 04:12:47 PM
I was joking.  It's too juvenile given how much he scammed.
15630  Economy / Goods / Re: Scammed? Want to get that scammer back with retaliation? on: February 18, 2016, 04:40:56 AM
OP scammed me out of $18 and has refused to respond for weeks. Everyone should avoid!
Proof or GTFO.

Master-P's dox was dumped.  I'm not suggesting someone dump a dump on his doorstep but.
15631  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: new to bitcoins. need help on: February 18, 2016, 04:34:44 AM
Yeah what you have is 0.20000000 bitcoin, or 1/5 of a whole bitcoin.
15632  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Possibly Hacked on: February 18, 2016, 03:35:59 AM
Were you drinking on the nights of the alleged hacks?  Do you have periods of time where you can't recall things?   The problem might not be computer-related.   Shocked
15633  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin risky? It actually feels very, very safe to own Bitcoin right now :) on: February 18, 2016, 03:21:26 AM
Safe my pimply white ass.  The volatility is just incredible.  It's breathtaking.  If you want out of the stock market and are fleeing to safe investments, shit like precious metals is the way to go but even those can be volatile.  But I think gold & silver have been beaten down so much that it's probably a good buying opportunity right now.

I definitely don't think bitcoin is a "safe" investment.  I think it's pretty risky.
15634  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: make money by the price difference between exchange center on: February 18, 2016, 02:58:33 AM
People were trying to do this with Mr. Gox way back and got burned big time.  It's called arbitrage and lots of people do it, and the more it happens the less opportunity there is to do it.  You can try it, but I think the exchanges are pretty evenly priced.  Not entirely sure however.  Then there's the issue of withdrawal delays and confirmation times and so forth.  That sort of stuff can make arbitrage difficult.
15635  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: I buy and sell BTC, LTC, PM, Skrill, Neteller, Okpay, Paypal, STP, WU, MG, etc on: February 18, 2016, 02:46:38 AM
Timelord, let's say I want to do this type of deal with you, which I might.  What's the best way to ship silver to you?  I pack things very well when I sell on Ebay, so I got that part but do people usually send you stuff Priority mail or just 1st class with tracking or other?  I'm not sure I want to sell any silver right now but I might.  I have some Peace Dollars and Eagles and a 1 Oz round and some other coins.  Thanks my man.
15636  Other / Meta / Re: Negative user in default trust 1 on: February 18, 2016, 01:57:56 AM
I removed everyone from my trust list including DT.  Not going to add anyone to it but I'll still leave feedback for people I do deals with or scammers and so forth.

I tend to think that that's the right way to start out.  Who knows, maybe you'll find someone who's feedback you trust and add them.  In anycase, the centralization of trust around the default trust list has let to mountains of scams around here.  The best thing that people can do to alleviate that is to remove default trust and build their own lists and teach others to do the same.
Well I have done a few small deals with people, but I don't feel the need to see green or red under their avatar--all of that I can check manually.  There are definitely people on DT that I trust the feedback of, but I've come to believe that the trust system here as it exists at present is pretty damn broken.  All the negative trust I've gotten is from people I've never done deals with--they just didn't like some of my comments and there are no reference links or anything.  The fact that this is possible is just shitty.  And yes, I know untrusted feedback doesn't change your score.  Positive trusted feedback doesn't change your score either, at least that other people can see.

You should / could add the accounts whose feedback you value to your trust list and still go to check feedback manually before making a deal. This gives you the benefit of having some quick indication if someone is trusted or not. The critical thing is to understand that the feedback is just a tool to help you determine if someone can be trusted or not.

People who go blindly on a trust score are just waiting to get scammed (in general, not just on this forum) because they're too naive to check who they're dealing with.
I do understand this, thank you for the suggestions though.  As I said, this is a little experiment.  Nothing in my doings on bitcointalk is set in stone.
15637  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum price falls 22% in 1 day on: February 18, 2016, 01:06:48 AM
I think that it has nothing to do with Ethereum itself. The growth stopped, and the price got stuck a few days. Then Bitcoin's price increased, and people moved their money...
Yeah I mean bitcoin itself is volatile and it's quite possible that ETH will spike higher than it has.  And certainly a correction is normal in markets that rise way too fast, which this one did.  Strap on your diapers, you ethereum bitches because it's probably going to be a pants-shitting ride from here on out.
15638  Economy / Speculation / Re: Stupid Cunts Required! No Experience (Preferred) Necessary. on: February 18, 2016, 12:43:26 AM
Hi, where do I send my resume to?  And I don't see any applications either.
15639  Economy / Lending / Re: Loan with collateral on: February 18, 2016, 12:32:00 AM
OMG, this is a new one here on the lending section--I've never seen a house put up as collateral.  I know you're not serious, but one would be a rational lender to take your house once you default.  But as the man above me said, lock the thread 'cause you ain't getting jack shit.
15640  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH price soaring. Are you going to move some BTC into ETH? on: February 18, 2016, 12:28:30 AM
Jesus, I'm glad I got in and out at like 0.0138.  Did not profit but I'm glad I didn't lose money--I'm definitely not as risk-averse as some of the gambler-traders around here.  I don't know how you guys do it, especially short sellers.  That takes balls of a different metal composition than I possess.
