15661  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: cryptoexchange looking for partener/relocation on: April 23, 2018, 07:32:12 AM
Could you post an email for me to contact you? Or send me one (address in profile).

I might be able to offer some assistance in two countries I'm resident of, one crypto friendly, the other extremely neutral towards it, but extremely friendly to foreign-owned businesses, both with significant tax reductions on foreign businesses.

You'd just have to be prepared to do everything by the book, as that's the only way I'd consider assisting.
15662  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: "I have 15 Crypto addresses" on: April 23, 2018, 06:51:55 AM
Guess I'm not the only one here who actually thinks having a coded notepad file is good enough to manage hundreds of addresses over scores of coins. It does take me a little while to look through it, but it's pretty organised in my mind already and have never yet made a mistake or got confused. It does help to regularly sweep and clear out old addresses, of course.

The trouble for me is wallet maintenance, really, which is why I no longer manage so many coins. Just the few I actually like. For computer space if not for anything else!
15663  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: April 22, 2018, 08:43:48 PM
Napoli dominated the game by pressing down on Juventus players so they could not develop the game. Seeing conditions like this in the first half there is the possibility of Napoli can steal 3 points at the Allianz Stadium. But, it is not easy because the championship mentality of Juventus is very strong and their defense is very solid to resist attacks from Hamsik and Insigne. The worthy score for this match is 1-0 for Juventus victory.

Not easy, but I was REALLY surprised that Juventus didn't attack at home, was it not even a single shot on target? They have nothing else to play for, a win for them would really have put the final nail into the coffin for Napoli's resistance.

But Napoli, what can I say? Over 10 shots, faitful to their 4-3-3 and even substituting Martens when he seemed to tire, with more attacking power? 1-0 and the title is all for their taking again. Lovely football. Got my splendid bet won (lost the over 2 goals but still much more in profit), so my weekend's done and dusted!
15664  Economy / Economics / Re: The HODL strategy is not actual on: April 22, 2018, 08:31:19 PM
Well to speak frankly, hodl strategy isn't the literal holding of whatever coins you really have in your wallet quite a time. What I believe hodling strategy is closing the pipe of your sells while opening the pipes of the purchases coins and letting it be warm in a while when the dip happened. While holding can still be seen just to be not selling your coins, buying while hodling could prove you more returns when the market recover or bounces back.

Hold's just a fancy thing most people use without really doing. The real holders probably don't say much as they're really not even paying attention to the price until it reaches their time limit or price limit. The batch of people who sold off almost everything they had when Bitcoin actually breached 10k and those who waited a bit more and let go around 15k (I recall at least a couple of posts of such people who announced it during the time), those were the holders from years go.

Fresh ones like myself (if I can presume to be a holder) arrived "late" and only accumulate so much coins at a time, that we do what you just described, getting as much more as we can in the dips. Our price targets, by virtue of our belated entry, are much higher. My target's a date, sometime not earlier than 2020, and most likely a decade on if price still isn't my ideal range, save the inheritance I hope to pass on.
15665  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Approaches 9k! on: April 22, 2018, 08:15:41 PM
Just like Bitcoin to overturn my predictions - whether I'm optimist or pessimist. Grumbling that it happened a week after I had to sell quite a bit, and will probably dip again when I get paid more coins in about 10 days.

The 9k area is a tough nut to crack imo. If we should break it next significant resistance would be not 10k, but 11300-11500 imo.
Right now we are in a rising wedge (12hr chart), almost at the end of it. Bitcoin tends to break these chart pattern upwards although it is a bearish pattern. If we drop I think we will try to find support at ~8400 again. Will be interesting to watch how it is going to play out the next couple of days!

I'm with you here on this one. 10k's always been the psychological mark but we already hovered above and below that, and coming out of this long slump, to break past 8k and 9k, would bring momentum all the way past 10. It'll depend on how long it can stay above 9k though. Right now at 8900 and looking a bit less steady than what it looked like when it smoothed past 8k.
15666  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Institutional Demand for Bitcoin and Crypto Resurges on: April 22, 2018, 07:02:52 PM
I'm not sure there's really a surge in demand from institutional investors. We're hearing about them all now, for sure, but read deeper and you realise that they already entered the market a while ago - last year most likely, through their hedge fund managers and associated funds. They're probably the ones who largely made Bitcoin the crazy "investment asset" that it was end of last year. They probably also shorted it all to lock in profits, causing the recent slump. And they're probably making public their "new" investments to time their dip buys nicely for more profit.

Think about it. These are guys who pay other guys to tell them what's on the horizon. They'd have heard of Bitcoin long before its 4k mark, and they're not the kind to buy now when everyone else has had their fill.
It's not as straightforward though. What you describe may be true for family offices, for example, but isn't true for institutional investors like say pension funds. They have very strict mandates on what they are allowed to invest in, and opening up a new asset class with questionable custody solutions is definitely not an easy sell.

I do get that it's a sweeping statement, which is always unfair to the exception. But take a look at the extremely guarded private equity (PE) funds that also have very select clients, and usually very conservative ones, all who require signing off on investments. Some big PE firms were actually dipping into crypto even in 2016 and by early 2017 were even launching their own ICOs already - not only opening up new asset classes in their portfolio but actually expanding to grab more of the market beyond the recognsed coins of Bitcoin and the top 5. Of course, there will always be those who cannot ever be sold the idea, but with almost every recession-free asset slipping... and Bitcoin moving up every year, hard for people to ignore maths.
15667  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: April 22, 2018, 05:08:20 PM
I guess we all are only interested in the one match that happens tonight. Been waiting for this for weeks and while Napoli have slipped up so much over the past 3 weeks, so have Juventus. They have to win this one to close the gap to 1 point, and then play for their lives for the remainder of the season hoping someone else does them a favour and upset the Old Lady.

All bets are therefore on Money Line Napoli @3.56. Over 2 goals is also interesting @1.76 so that's my two bets for tonight. If Napoli don't win, farewell to another underdog, I'm afraid.
15668  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: April 22, 2018, 08:27:37 AM
I am expecting City to play for the supporters today. Meaning all out attack football to celebrate winning the league in from of their home supporters. This should end with lots of goals and I will play 5+ or something like that for this one.

I'm expecting them to play a few reserves, maybe cut the teeth for some of the academy kids, while still giving room for Bruyne and Ageuro to try break more records (and give the kids leadership). Should still have enough quality for the win.

Arsenal had better just win all their remaining games. It's the least they can do for their manager.

My bets will be a parlay for today's Arsenal @1.48 and tomorrow's Newcastle @3.54 for total @5.24
15669  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: April 21, 2018, 08:03:55 PM
West Brom got 4 out 6 points against Man Utd (0-1) and Liverpool (2-2) in less than a week...amazing results for a team that's on their way to the Championship. About liverpool, Danny Ings scored his first goal after 2 and a half years, good for him. Salah, beast. Moreno (and Gomez), shite. Overall, I think the draw is more than fair.

Looking forward to the FA Cup match later today.

Yeah, fair result, can't deny they deserved at least a point after the way they kept on going. Really looked like Premier League quality the way they attacked, to be honest. Liverpool have no excuse, Klavan's a decent defender if he represents his country. Moreno had to prove himself. Ings got a goal good for him but I wonder where his future lies.

Drab draw even with four goals, in the end. Silver lining is Salah's goal towards the 47 goal record of Rushie.
15670  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dealing with Bitcoin or Crypto haters. on: April 21, 2018, 05:35:34 PM
How about, just letting people do their own thing while you do yours? This is the beauty of open source, of decentralization. No one is ever forced to accept what Bitcoin proposes to do, no one is ever forced to accept Bitcoin. You're completely free to embrace it, equally free to reject it. Live and let live, why don't you?

4. Deal with it, not everyone is going to like/understand crypto

You don't have to convince everyone to invest in bitcoin or cryptocurrencies in general. They don't like it? Leave them be. Also, NEVER EVER tell people to invest because the price will "moon". Price increases are NEVER 100% guaranteed.

This is probably the most important piece of advice if you value relationships. Understand that there's no guarantee with Bitcoin, much less other cryptocurrencies. I've never advised people to go in, in fact, I always caution them not to rush into it headlong. I have my beliefs, but I recognise the risks. Make sure your friends also recognise the same.

15672  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Indian crypto currency exchange takes Central Bank to court against recent ban on: April 21, 2018, 03:04:52 PM
Despite what is in the public eye on their legal system - and I'm not saying it's great, there's a lot of horrendous shit going on with human rights there - India's really been progressive with the way citizens have been able to use the law for greater transparency. Europe still lags behind and has picked up on India's Right to Informations Act successfully brought to pass more than 10 years ago. They might yet pave the way for more legal precedent with blockchain in the coming years, and this might be seen as the first step towards that.

Good one on them, even if this still only benefits the upper middle class.
15673  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fees and payments on: April 21, 2018, 12:34:55 PM
about bitcoin fee, i think it was cheap before bitcoin price spiked. but for now,
bitcoin transaction fee i think the most expensive in cryptocurrency.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. Think I've been paying 1 satoshi per byte or less on my transactions for weeks now and still getting the majority of them confirmed within the next block, longest I had to wait was 3 blocks (that comes down to about 120 satoshi per transaction, by the way). At today's price, which has been the highest in a long time, that's something like 0.85 cents. Pretty sure there are several cryptos out there with more expensive fees.

Lowest recommended gas price on Ethereum now for next block confirmation is at 1.2 cents.
15674  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcointalk English Premier League pool betting Discussion Thread on: April 21, 2018, 11:52:38 AM
New predictions are in but only for 5 games; the Monday game is missing. Don't forget to fill in your prediction for the Everton - Newcastle game later Wink Happy Saturday everyone  Cheesy

The same thing happened with the last round. It'll just be included with next weeks games. Just make sure to check in on Monday after it's updated.

I'm not expecting to get many points from this round. West Brom game could be interesting especially coming back from a win at Old Trafford and if they can win this there may be a chance they could save themselves from relegation but Liverpool are still going to be a tough team to beat.

Yeah, I couldn't get online in time to put in my usual 3-0 prediction for Liverpool. Only online now and Ings scored his first in a really, really long time. Not sure why BBC can't just put in all the games and remove them if cancelled. Not that I've missed many this way, but I can imagine it hurts those fighting for top spots.

Who else thinks City will take their feet off the gas for the remainder of the season? Nothing else to play for but records and player awards, but I'd expect more run outs for fringe players, maybe good bets for draws?
15675  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IMF and Bitcoins amazing isn't it? on: April 21, 2018, 10:36:52 AM
Big banks, IMF and the like. I always have my reservations. IMF clearly praises the technology of blockchain, but they still steer clear from the immediate appeals and ideals of Bitcoin, which hope to one day make organisations like IMF redundant.

Harvard professor and renowned economist Kenneth Rogoff, who’s in the past argued for a reduction in the amount of physical cash, has recently stated that bitcoin is likelier to hit $100 than $100,000 a decade from now.

Speaking at CNBC’s “Squawk Box,” the former chief economist at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) argued that if the cryptocurrency stops being used to launder money and evade taxes, its “actual uses as a transaction vehicle are very small.”

He said:

“I think bitcoin will be worth a tiny fraction of what it is now if we’re headed out 10 years from now … I would see $100 as being a lot more likely than $100,000 ten years from now.”

Bitcoin has indeed been associated with illicit activities such as money laundering and tax evasion. Expert estimates on the cryptocurrency’s use in these activities vary. As reported by CCN, a 2016 Europol report found no evidence of terrorists using bitcoin.

Moreover, a report from the European Commission to the European Parliament and Council found that terrorists and criminals are barely using bitcoin or ethereum. The report labeled the risk of digital currencies being used to finance terrorism as “moderately significant.”

Nevertheless, according to Rogoff, government regulations would be a trigger for bitcoin’s demise. The economist stressed that developing a global framework of regulations would take time

He might be right. I'm from the camp that feels $100 is just as likely as $1 million, although Bitcoin, if you've been paying attention all these years, hasn't been one to follow the likely outcomes. That incredible ATH we recently saw, and then the plumbing of depths at $6k, those were the less likely outcomes, yet they happened anyway. If I were a betting person (and I guess owning Bitcoin puts me in that category), I'd back Bitcoin to keep going against the grain and do the unlikely.
15676  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How to cancel investment plan on yobit investbox? on: April 20, 2018, 09:23:02 PM
I don't like to be the ladder that falls on the guy who fell off it, but... what on earth were you doing depositing $10k worth of crypto onto an exchange? And one like Yobit even..?

I actually have used the platform before, back when I actually played around with tokens and stuff. You really must be more careful with your funds. If you have a little more, deposit enough so you can chat in the chatbox (think it used to be 0.001 BTC) and get hold of one of the mods there. Offer to pay some kind of fee for having to deal with the trouble maybe (since it will be a hassle for their obviously already overworked support). If you get it back, don't look back. Pay your fees and bills. Don't play with money you can't afford to lose.

15677  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Football Transfers Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: April 20, 2018, 07:01:43 PM
Right, then. Do bookies still pay out if no one is sacked and season ends for those who backed Arsenal to be next manager to leave? I've said it time and again, that the team/players really let down a great footballing mind. The worst thing is that whoever takes over will probably get some of the best out of the team - new manager syndrome - and then they'll say "told you so". Media's all talking about his tarnished career but Wenger's still one of the very best out there for me. Good luck to him, perhaps at PSG. Maybe the French will welcome him back to their fold.
15678  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: SO DISAPOINTED ABOUT HUOBI EXCHANGE on: April 20, 2018, 04:05:44 PM
Consider this a $20 price you paid to learn your lesson. It's actually a really cheap price to pay, considering you will now learn to double and triple check when spending crypto. Bitcoin and its progeny were designed specifically so that YOU, the user and owner, are in full control of your funds. This means you are also the only one responsible for mistakes.

The fact that exchanges have to deal with so many issues of all the exact same nature means that you have not learnt to use this control properly. I do feel sorry in some way, but I remember when I was starting out. Seeing as I consider myself the extreme average user, I don't see why others shouldn't take the time to learn and be more careful with the most basic use of currency.
15679  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [2018-04-20]Kraken Is Not Going To Provide Information About Exchange To Regulat on: April 20, 2018, 02:23:24 PM
Great news. They are showing the government the finger and I like it.
The best thing about it is that they actually can. They are no longer located in NY, so they don't have to obey their local laws. I only wish that more exchanges will find a way to elude and defy the government. Unfortunately, worst case scenario we can expect more bitlicenses to pop up in other states or other parts of the world.

Not sure what to make of this. The last time Coinbase claimed a "partial victory" when fighting the IRS in court, they still ended up having to give in their customer details anyway. We also saw how exchanges in Japan post Mt Gox decide to fall in line, while in India and Chile they are coming up against the government in court too. All it takes is for one of them to win and set legal precedent, otherwise I don't see if anything can be achieved should they stand on their own - would take some corporate might to win one for the exchanges. Kraken's not the only one moving bases to escape a showdown. We've seen Binance move to Malta, we're also seeing plenty of blockchain firms move from Europe to Asia.

How about we all just go to DEXs and then all these centralised exchanges have nothing to attract the govt's attention, eh?

15680  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Exodus + Shapeshift...never again on: April 20, 2018, 10:56:42 AM
I lost about $200 using shapeshift and Exodus Team only made excuses they refused to admit anything went wrong or refund my money so USE SHAPESHIFT AT YOUR OWN PERIL!!! I used it once before and I bought $500 worth of Bicoin Cash using Bitcoin and that wentt as expected and I lost about $20 for the tranfer fees which was about what I expected but a month later prices were down and I tried to buy back bitcoin using the BITCOIN CASH which was now worth $400 and some change and I already had $1100 in Bitcoin so after tranfer I expected about $1500 in Bitcoin but all I got was $1300 and lost $200 in the transfer!!! I also had another time when I tried to buy Ethereum with 3 litecoin and the shapeshift failed. Afterwards I was missing 2 of the 3 LITECOIN!!! I complained about this and the other transfers and they also made excuses and did nothing but three days later the LITECOIN Mysteriously REAPPEARED in my wallet thank god... But they never admitted anything and they refused to re-imburse me for the $200 I lost during that shapeshift from Cash back to Coin. I'm seriously thinking of starting a class action against Exodus I wonder how many others like me are missing money from SHAPESHIFT???

Pretty certain you don't have a case here.

First of all, Exodus is not at fault. Shapeshift is the provider of the exchange, they have hundreds of sites and services plugged into Shapeshift via API. Secondly, you should have a clear picture of how much you get in units of BTC, not fiat. Perhaps you did receive what was worth closer to $400 but that value's changed as BTC price changes.
Thirdly, every time you use Shapeshift, you get a published exchange rate before you confirm. Shapeshift on Exodus has terrible rates, so I'm not surprised you lost a lot changing there. Next time you want a better rate, head over to an exchange and trade it manually.

P.S. Shouldn't have hijacked this almost too old to look at thread. Open a complaint, and provide details with evidence. Ranting like this won't help you.
