15701  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What works in technical analysis? on: February 17, 2016, 12:14:51 AM
Objectively proving Technical analysis effectiveness is hard a fool's errand. Personally I believe certain technical analysis works while others do not. I believe momentum, volume, oscillators, Bollinger bands, moving averages and trends can all be good technical indicators. I find elliot wave theory, head and shoulders and other pattern indicators to be subjective and fairly useless. I am curious what your views are on TA and which methods you guys use and believe are effective?
Fixed that for you.

Technical analysis is a bunch of woo, to use JREF-speak.  You'll notice that people like Warren Buffett and all those other zillionaires who've made their zillions in the stock market are not technical analysts.  If TA worked, this would not be the case.  It's just guesswork.  Sometimes trends are apparent, I won't argue this but the rest of it is a steaming pile of horsezit.
15702  Other / Meta / Re: Can we sell user id's? on: February 16, 2016, 10:56:48 PM
Ugh.  It's definitely done in this forum but in certain circles it is definitely frowned upon, and some users will give a negative trust to the sold account if the fact of the sale is discovered.  So it's risky.  If an account with green trust is sold, that's even worse.  Those are the ones I worry about, because it's easy to leverage that trust to scam people.  I think Master-P did this.
15703  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to get a loan with out a license on: February 16, 2016, 04:54:02 PM
OP, how did you find bitcointalk if I may ask?  Did someone suggest it as a place where you could get a loan?

There is definitely a lending section here, but you would need some sort of collateral, like altcoins or something digital that has value.  120% of the loan amount is the general rule.  But it's not easy here.  People definitely do not like parting with hard-earned bitcoin.  Good luck.
15704  Economy / Economics / Re: What percentage of people on Earth will own Bitcoin by 2020 on: February 16, 2016, 04:30:20 PM
Those who voted 20-30% are being wildly optimistic, I think.  There would have to be major reasons for owning bitcoin, e.g., currency collapse or some such, and I do hope that doesn't happen.  Also it's going to have to be accepted at far more outlets than it is and it's going to have to become easier to understand and/or use.

I voted 2-5%.
15705  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: If you could rename Bitcoin what would it be? on: February 16, 2016, 04:25:52 PM
Actually "coin" was not really a very good choice (as Andreas M. Antonopolous has pointed out many times) as "coins" are a very bad metaphor for how Bitcoin actually works.

The problem with new technology is that "old words" just don't fit very well - so I'm guessing the name was chosen to basically make it clear that it is a type of "money".

So if it were to be renamed the "coin" part would be what I'd drop - maybe "Bitmoney" might have been better.

if we have to rename it anyway...

Bitium or Bithium. best I can think of considering that it is mined and dividable (like precious metals).
both names are taken by some companies though. and apparently -ium is supposed to be used to denote a metallic name.

or if the "bit" part also have to be removed, Inthium or BTCinthium... sounds weird?
OP, this is a good thread idea I have to say.  I honestly never liked the name Bitcoin, but it is what it is.  However, my level of acceptance of most things is generally high and I've never considered an alternative.

Encrypted, I like your ideas here--those are good names.  It's really too bad that btc won't get renamed.  Even Ethereum is a better name I think.  LOL
15706  Economy / Reputation / Re: Trust Abuse by User Luptin & Mexxer-2 on: February 16, 2016, 04:22:05 PM
We are on the same boat, i have posted a hyip i got from other forum(MMG) since its an all BTC hyip, i got neg rep from posting that. but i have ask them nicely, and they said after 1 month Smiley , you can ask them for a 2nd chance, theyre human beings too and they will understand
And that does get you a negative rep around here, like it or not.  Ponzi schemes are scams and being tied to one makes you a scammer in most folks' eyes.

OP, I checked your trust and it looks like it was given correctly.  It appears you tried to cheat that Twitter campaign and got booted off.  So what can I say?  You may not like the trust feedback and you may love bitcoin (me too), but you're going to have to deal with it.
15707  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for a 0.14 loan on: February 16, 2016, 01:37:39 PM
This is way too risky since you already made it clear you want to sell that account.   There's nothing guaranteeing you won't just run away.
15708  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Flubromazepam 4mg - 2000 Pellets - Legal Research Chemical on: February 16, 2016, 01:28:37 PM
Legal or not, benzos are far more addictive than most people think and are dangerous when combined with opiates and/or alcohol.   And the effects of this one are not as well-known as others,  so potential buyers be careful.
15709  Economy / Speculation / Re: What caused the recent price increase ? on: February 16, 2016, 01:19:47 PM
It's either just random fluctuations or it went up because I sold some.  Lol

Probably noise or speculators pumping it due to the halving.
15710  Other / Meta / Re: My proposal to reduce signature campaign spamming on: February 16, 2016, 01:09:42 PM
Much spam comes from 20 posts per day.. or more.. Just quit this practice paying per day and per post.
Best is paying per week or per month.
Number of posts must not be over 5 paid posts per day.

All is on managers and Admins..

That is absolute nonsense and ironic coming from a Yobit campaigner.  You can certainly make 20 constructive posts and more per day if--and this is a big if--you take your time and think about what you're writing.   But a lot of posters obviously don't.   But that doesn't mean it can't be done, it just means some folks are lazy and like to do the absolute minimum ( or less).
15711  Economy / Lending / Re: [URGENT] Need 0.2 BTC Loan... [Filled] on: February 16, 2016, 12:51:20 PM
You are not being criticized for no reason, and in fact there is very good reason to criticize you. All you've given so far are excuses why you can't repay your loan and attempts to deflect this criticism by playing the victim. You're not a victim. You're late is what you are.
15712  Economy / Reputation / Re: Reputation System and The Corresponding Abuse on: February 16, 2016, 04:52:25 AM
Lutpin, take it from me.  If I meant it the way you think I meant it, I would not be afraid to tell you.  I am not playing mind games with you.  I was making a general statement about what I see as a shift in tone in some of the threads that senior members participate in, with this thread being just one of them.  I was not talking about you in particular by any means.  And if you're on DT I have no problem with that, nor Mexxer.
15713  Economy / Economics / Re: Today & Tonight, Gold is Getting KILLED on: February 16, 2016, 04:47:46 AM
Sir!  I'd say gold is holding its own pretty well, and silver is not faring poorly either.

I'm thinking about buying some sort of gold coin with some spare bitcoin, probably through Provident.  Like a Mexican gold 5 pesos or some such.  Gold dipped a little, but I think it's just that, a dip.  I don't think it's getting killed.
15714  Economy / Reputation / Re: Reputation System and The Corresponding Abuse on: February 16, 2016, 04:42:32 AM
Is it just me or has the mood around bitcointalk darkened since these adjustments to the DT list happened?
Is it mexxer or me you don't like being on DT?
<snip>
No, I didn't mean it that way.  I have no problem with Mexxer at all, and in fact I think he does a great job around here.  I'm not as familiar with you, but I don't have a problem with you.  What I wrote was just a straight observation and I'm wondering if others see it the same.  I guess it was the SebastianJu thing where he seemed to be getting attacked from all sides in a tone that I don't often see used with trusted members like him.  And there were other threads too.  But as I said, I could be totally wrong.
15715  Economy / Reputation / Re: Removal of escrow.ms? Update: Recommend users for DT 2, as escrow.ms is removed on: February 16, 2016, 04:37:16 AM
Why all of the QS hate? He did 1 bad move, but before that 100s of good ones. Should he ever escrow again...? Obviously not. Has he helped the community...yes.
Blazed, I realize this thread is not about QS but I'm just going to say this:  I realize QS has done good for the community.  I've seen that.  But after watching him try to defend his self-escrow thing, it's quite obvious he does not realize exactly what's wrong with what he did.  And therefore I don't trust the guy.  This is a forum about money, right?  It doesn't matter if QS can spot scammers and call them out--a scammer can very easily recognize a scammer, and he will point them out to potential scamees in order to gain trust.  QS has proven that he can't be trusted in a deal that involves money.  He took two out of three sides of a deal whilst allowing the outside party to believe the other two sides were independent of each other.  And they were not.  That is fraud, and his rationalizations after he got caught were breathtakingly dishonest.  And he hasn't learned from that.
15716  Other / Meta / Re: My account SebastianJu banned for 14 days now? on: February 16, 2016, 04:27:11 AM
What's there not to understand?  Like me, he posts on this forum because he wants to.  Like me he wants to get paid for that, because why wouldn't you?  It's a way of supporting the bitcoin economy and it is a feature that I've never seen on any other forum, that is, renting out signature space.  I don't know how sig campaigns came into existence, but it seems a little unfair that people who make quality posts get criticized for participating in them.  They are, either explicitly or implicitly, endorsed by Theymos.

I have no problem whatsoever with signature campaigns.  As I've said in other threads, it's a neat concept and seems to be unique to bct.  It's the people who shitpost that ruin it for everyone else
15717  Economy / Reputation / Re: Reputation System and The Corresponding Abuse on: February 16, 2016, 04:21:23 AM
Is it just me or has the mood around bitcointalk darkened since these adjustments to the DT list happened?  I see a lot of sniping--more so than usual, and I realize I'm not one to talk, as I can rip new anuses with the best of them.  I don't know, I could be wrong.  Seems like some of the senior members who usually adopt a neutral tone have gone on the attack.

I think OP realizes his mistake of giving out a rep loan and hopefully he won't do this again.  The question is at what point can these things be forgiven?
15718  Other / Meta / Re: My account SebastianJu banned for 14 days now? on: February 16, 2016, 12:28:06 AM
it's all about the sig. ad (nothing else).
Yep, oh the freedom us non-camapigners have...  Grin<snip>
OK, this is very good to know and I'm quite surprised that SebastianJu got temp banned.  Guess I shouldn't be, right?  Then again, a lot of other users do much the same thing, Spoetnik and Gleb Gamow in particular come to mind.  Yes this is off topic, but that Cryptsy thread was spam city between the two of them.  Anyhow hope you can cope with this, SJ.  Learn from it.
15719  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hahahaha, what a plonker on: February 16, 2016, 12:17:37 AM
Well I don't even know what a plonker is but it sounds about right.  Martin Shkreli is about as low as you can get on the scale of shitty human beings.  He probably spits on children and steals old ladies' handbags too.  Just a reprehensible reprobate this man is.
15720  Economy / Reputation / Re: Issue with Vod on: February 16, 2016, 12:15:33 AM
he should neg rep 50+ accounts if he believes his rating on me is legit and not abuse but he doesnt so he obviously should be removed if he doesnt stands by his own word/principles.
This is some sort of logical fallacy right here, not sure which.  Just because he arbitrarily negged you and not 50 other accounts does not invalidate his neg on you.  What can I say?  Lot of people complaining about Vod lately but the man is more right than wrong and he does give people a chance to mend their ways.  Lottery got his negative trust removed and now he's in the green.
