I think the 400 Kh/s on my Ubuntu isn't real

If I get "Accepted ......... Dif 0/0 GPU 0  that means you didn't turn anything in right?  I mean it's 0/0???  I can't remember what it used to look like in litecoin, LOL
1582  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | Anonymous (alpha) | KGW | No Premine | ASIC Resistant on: February 15, 2014, 04:24:15 AM
DarkCoin will die the same way as Bitcoin died when ASIC miners for btc were released.

I don't understand this comment.  The developer designed Darkcoin to follow the same path as Bitcoin.  he knew it was only a matter of time before a GPU came out.  An ASIC on the other hand will take years, unless this coin becomes amazingly popular, maybe only a couple of years?

But anyway, Bitcoin is far from dead, I don't know what you mean?

And this coin's uniqueness comes from the obfuscation of the transactions, so nobody can look into  your checking account like they can with Bitcoin and most  other coins, and this is done right from the wallet.

OMG, please no, I watched MAX launch and it was a fiasco.  I guess nobody cares, they're all zombie followers over there???

Error -11: Building Program <clBuildPorgram>
Error compiling program for search.
Frontend phase failed compilation.
Error: Creating kernel search failed!

Failed to init GPU thread 0, disabling device 0

Never seen this one before?Huh? I have the latest drivers / sdk, other versions of sg miner, cg miner, and even gui miner work fine for me.

edit: compiled myself and used the one shared in the forum (windows 7) same error

Seems specific to your setup, can you post the output of "sgminer.exe -n"?

Also a Radeon HD  serie......  Embarrassed

Yes, is that the problem?  My Ubuntu is running well on a 7570, about 320 kh/s  I mean, not much better than the CPU there, but it doubles the work on the one machine Smiley

Ah sorry I assumed you were running ATI/AMD GPU

Catalyst Control Center version (13.12 for me) and AMD APP SDK (2.9)..

not sure if the SDK is necessary but I have it anyway from doing my own builds

Ah, LOL, it's 13. something, it won't start right now.  Actually, my computer is acting like the GPU is busy because I'm getting lag.  if I restart the computer, though, I'll loose a bunch of instances that will take forever to load, so I don't want to do that, lol

Phm gave us his GPU miner code, and I merged in his changes into my project at https://github.com/evan82/darkcoin-sgminer

I got it to compile and it seems to work for me, although I have a terrible GPU so I'm not positive.

Try to compile it and let me know if it works so I can pay the man.

Thanks!

Well I guess it's time to buy a new rig then...

This coin is cpu ONLY just as the title said, could anybody mine with GPU only ? If this is true ,it is unfair, isn't it? Huh

I originally thought it was GPU resistant where it would take a lot longer to implement, but where there is a will....

So it looks like tonight we got a semi working version.  It's working on my Linux but  not my windows....
1588  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | Anonymous (pre-alpha) | CPU only | KGW | Mandatory Update! on: February 15, 2014, 03:35:55 AM
c:
cd \Users\Me\Desktop\Miner\sgminer

windows
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
cgminer.exe -o ltc.give-me-coins.com:3333 -O Me.MySlave:MyDeepDarkSecret
Huh

Yah, I fixed that, but I'm still getting Error -11: Building Program (clBuildprogram) and Eroror compiling program for search then Frontend phase failed compilation then Creating kernel search failed

failed to init GPU thread 0 disabling device 0
restarting the GPU from the menu will not fix this

sgminer.exe --kernel darkcoin -o stratumq+tcp://drk.lotterymining.com:4444 -u U.W -p P

Gosh, I cleaned this up, don't know what I copied, LOL.  but I still have the same problem as below

+1 for a bat, but we may be having hardware specific issues here Tante. What GPU, cat and SDK version you have?

I'd post my bat but I'm just as broken as you lol

What is cat pls?
and do we need the sdk on windows?  With a pre-compiled exe?

same error here.  Can anyone post their start.bat file please?

can I see a sample .bat file from somebody please?

I second this request, thank you !!!
1593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | Anonymous (pre-alpha) | CPU only | KGW | Mandatory Update! on: February 15, 2014, 02:56:17 AM
I downloaded the zlib1.dll file, where do I need to put it?

Make sure it's the sgminer one, and just put it in the top level of the sgminer folder
1594  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | Anonymous (pre-alpha) | CPU only | KGW | Mandatory Update! on: February 15, 2014, 02:38:37 AM
When trying to start sgminer, I get this:

[18:34:56] Started sgminer 4.0.0
[18:34:56] Started sgminer 4.0.0
[18:34:57] WARNING: GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT is not specified!
[18:34:57] WARNING: GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS is not specified!

Or else, if I do this in the beginning of the start command, it says command not found:

sudo export GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100; export GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1; ./sgminer -o -u -p etc...

Can anyone direct me in the right direction please?  Thanks so much!!

There is no windows delivery yet?
For the new version of minerd

I can do this on Linux but haven't a clue for windows. I'm reading up on it, and if by some miracle I compile something that can be shared...I'll certainly post it, but don't hold your breath!  LOL  Sorry!
1596  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | Anonymous (pre-alpha) | CPU only | KGW | Mandatory Update! on: February 15, 2014, 02:01:04 AM
play it safe....create 6 completely unique imaginary people.

Warning: VPS crypto mining may be dangerous for your mental health. (This is a joke Smiley)

I am mining on the lotterymining pool right now and I suppose there is something off with it. The block finding rate is very unstable even though the hashrate doesn't change that much. It differs from several blocks per hour to a couple blocks a day. I think there might be a problem with pool software or network connection.

As far as I understand very long time between blocks doesn't lead to larger rewards but only to wasted hashpower.

Yep, that's why I moved out of there temporarily.

i will restart the server tomorrow when im in harbour, i dont dare to do so now, since i dont know when i have internet, and when i dont, so i might end up restarting it, but unable to start up stratum when its done rebooting..

Seems to be working fine for me right now.  I think it's just that we're small, and we can go through dry spells.  Also, the website being a little laggy doesn't equate to less coin per hour??

#Read the README, compiles with march=native, only on CPUs supporting AES-NI instructions (it includes AVX)

Test it, and let me know Smiley

From 166 kh/s to 184 kh/s.
So, it is about 11 ~ 12% improvement.

I guess you have generic kernel, right?

With the i5-2400 that I tried, the boost was about 21%

What cpu? And do u compiled with -march=native? Just to know so we can make a statistic. Because, for sure, improvement depends by AVX and AES performances of the processor.

For now this version boost just the echo algo, if I'll have time I want to try to boost some other from the 11 algos Smiley.

Wow, that would be VERY awesome!

New CPU Miner!!

I have created a new cpu-miner 64bit and I achieved about 22% more khs/sec .

This version is based on cpu-miner-1.2c by ig0tik3d, and plus uses AES-NI/AVX instructions from an other library, so it's usable with this list of Intel Processors:

http://ark.intel.com/search/advanced/?AESTech=true

and with these series by AMD:
    AMD Bulldozer-based processors
    AMD Piledriver-based processors.
    AMD Jaguar-based processors.
    AMD Kaveri-based processors.

I'll release it today, but it's in alpha stage and needs testing because I tried it just with a Sandy Bridge i5-2400 from a friend.

I have not cpus to mine, so bounties for my time will are very appreciated.

Let me know if you are interested.

Awesome, but I can't find instructions on how to put in march=native?  Where do I do that?  It's not in the readme?  Thanks, and I will donate if I get it running!

Gosh, I am getting old, was reading the install file  Lips sealed

Well, looks like it's running a little bit better Smiley  from 19kh/s  to 23 kh/s  Still, accepteds very few and far between, wish I knew why Sad  Tip on it's way (sorry, I'm not a big holder, but hope it helps Smiley )

From 19 to 23 it's a 21% improvement Smiley . What cpu do you use?

Thanks for the tip, it's appreciated Smiley

I'm sending a little more, I have one instance that went down to 15 kh/s  Must be the way they put the cpu's together??  I'm using Amazon, per the instructions on page one. I think I'm going to open a few more, it's inexpensive and I think worth it??  Just for the weekend Smiley

I am assuming the XCO address is your darkcoin address?  Better be, I sent twice, LOL!!!  Makes me wonder, if you send to a non-existent account, will it reject and come back?

We're happy to announce the DarkSend closed alpha is ready, we're just putting some finishing touches on it and we'll launch sometime this weekend. We're really excited to show this off to everyone!
Outstanding.  Thank you for your hard work eduffield.  I look forward to this.

I think we may be even more excited!

btw, I'm trying out that amazon setup you all posted on the front page, and my yay!!!'s are very few and far between.  Is this because they have intel cpu's?  Is there anyway to incorporate CUDA into our miner?  OH shoot, wait... that's NVidia GPU, Ugh.....
