Hey everybody. I seem to have a problem with my wallet. I upgraded to the latest version (1.Cool and when I opened it, I saw that I zero coins. I have 350k mintcoins and I don't know what happened to them. Anyone know the solution to this? Thank you very much.
Which version did you upgrade from, 1.6 or 1.7? First backup your wallet.dat just in case.

Please open debug console (Help -> Debug Window -> Console), and run "checkwallet" to see what it returns. It may be related to that if your previous wallet was on a wrong fork. If it reports missing/extra coins, you can run "repairwallet" there and it will resync your wallet with the downloaded blockchain.

I upgraded from 1.5 to 1.8. I'm back to 1.5 again because i was hoping that I'd get my coins back if I returned to the old version. I ran "checkwallet" and got this response: {
"wallet check passed" : true
}. Kinda sucks that I lost all my coins for some unknown reason >.<

1.5 and 1.6 are following a wrong chain. 1.7 update was mandatory.

Now, you have a few options;

If you received your coins while on 1.5 ; the transaction should be confirmed on both chains. So your coins should still be available. To be sure you can check your address with the block explorer. But; if the person that sent you the coins was also on the wrong chain, and his transaction contained invalid coins, then that transaction was not included in the main chain, because the main chain would reject it as it is invalid in the first place. You should contact your payer, and request he updates his client, and pays you again. Because the coins were not sent in the first place (Even if he's using old client that follows a wrong chain; when he switches to the new version, he will see that the transaction was not accepted and his coins are still in his wallet)

If your received coins are there, but your minted coins are lost : This is normal as your client announced the transactions to the wrong chain. But your coinage is not lost in this case (because your stake was just denied, nothing changes in your accounts). Just wait until it creates coinstake again, and you will receive the same amount.

Welp. I don't have any of my coins anymore. Even at 1.5 I don't have the same address as before. I lost all my transaction history too. I have 0 coins now  Sad I only got my coins from mintpal and poloniex. I don't know if they'll give me coins again. Sigh. Such misfortune.

Do they show up at your address(es) on the blockchain? http://mint.blockx.info/get/chain/MintCoin

I vote for Mintcoin because it is actually making efforts to have an impact in the real-world: http://mintcoinfund.org/
The community is strong and full of people who are in it for more than making a quick buck.
Also, Mintcoin might be the first to have a fully functional (and secure) PoS android wallet. Which will be open source and benefit all PoS coins.

I think Fluttercoin (PoW/PoS/PoT hybrid) should be added to the list, I doubt it will get the votes it deserves because it seems like few people know about or appreciate it but it deserves a lot more recognition considering it is one of the first truly innovative coins since PoS was invented. I mean, it invented an entirely new reward system (Proof-of-Transaction) that helps incentivize spending/using of the coin- this is the perfect counterpart for PoS systems since PoS incentivizes saving/holding.

How can the android wallet work for PoS, with a blockchain that's already so big?

I'm no technical expert you would have to ask paspi, he is the person working on it. He probably won't disclose everything until it is done, and he shouldn't, since he has been putting a lot of work into it and would like to be the first to release such a wallet.

Come on guys.  Cheesy

But they are clearly SO hungry! I wonder why they suddenly felt the need to come back here?

New FLT mining pool... http://flt.majorminers.com/

Join the party  Grin

Thank you for not using a huge logo and announcement that clutters up the thread.  I scroll past those but took notice of yours (I don't have mining gear so I can't join but wanted to acknowledge your courteous and low key announcement Smiley ).

My pleasure Mike. I feel the same way about the huge pics  Grin

But, but... if we don't have an endless supply of announcements with needlessly large and colorful text, silly memes, promotional pictures with the fluttercoin icon on it, trolls FUDing, fanboys anti-FUDing, market updates, speculators speculating, newbies asking the same questions over and over again, and supporters saying the same things other and other again, how will we ever get this thread to have as many pages of useless information as other coins!?  Roll Eyes

it can't go below zero, but it can go TO zero. and who is doing that is going to make it go to zero before they are able to sell a significant amount of their stash.

They are better off if they dump at market price and get that 12 or BTC in buy orders.

No one is going to buy at 12 if a 10 BTC sell order is hanging over their head at 13, not to mention almost 200 BTC in sell orders above that. That would be suicide.

I think it may be too late for this coin.

I love how this thread discusses BC so much.  Maybe it's because you guys still think you're in the same league.

It's always the same people posting about how great Mintcoin is and then pat each other on the back for 10-15 posts.  There are a lot of coins out there where the dev is still highly active and open in the community whereas Mintcoin...

As for the people selling their mint, the large bag holders are out of money, there isn't enough buy depth to unload all their mint, but the smaller players still have an out.  You can take your money out and put it into another coin which is better then watching it slowly fall to 5 satoshis...

It's too bad those sell walls aren't fake, they look to be the real deal, buy into them and see if they disappear.  You can hope for another pump but so much sell walls to break and that's not including all the people looking to unload.

And I've said it before and I'll say it again, what's the point of minting 20% a year when the price falls 10% every other week.  I guess your small circle ran out of pockets to prop the price up.

Nobody was talking about BC until mr_random and you showed up. Please go troll somewhere else. We were discussing the release of http://mintcoinfund.org/ and the upcoming android wallet.. and, no surprise, such developments triggered an onslaught of trolling. If BC thinks it is so "out of Mint's league", then why do BC shills still use their precious time to come over here and rain on Mint's parade? As soon as some good news is released, on cue the BC trolls are back again.

How about we stop focusing on the current price, and instead focus on the fact that this coin is actually working to do something beneficial for the world (http://mintcoinfund.org/) and beneficial for all PoS cryptocurrencies (android wallet). People are so shortsighted in cryptos... long term goals take time...

I would actually prefer it dropped down to a couple satoshi temporarily just to flush out all these sell orders, redistribute and then continue to grow for the true investors/believers.

I was about to say the same thing, I think it would be best if the people who are holding the market down just hurried up and got out.
1590  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Earth Day - Mintcoin Day on: April 22, 2014, 06:11:43 PM
Today is Earth Day. Today is Mintcoin Day.

We are really proud to announce today a series of event to celebrate our common goal toward sustainable developement and environmental awaress.

Today we are releasing the Mintcoin Fund website — mintcoinfund.org. Mintcoin Fund is an initiative for setting up, organising and financing sustainable projects. It also gives you the list of almost 50 merchants ready to embrace a sustainable cryptocurrency by accepting it as a mean of payment.

The first project nominated by the Mintcoin Fund is the Redwood Reforestation Project (a.k.a. “Sonoma County”). It is a part of the California Forest Improvement Program devoted to reforest California.

This is far from the only announcement for today! We are also releasing mintbay.net, an auction platform ŕ la ebay which accepts mintcoin as a currency. Also worthy of note is mintwoot.com, this time for buying products.

Would you like to know a bit more about mintcoin? Check out the main site, mintcoin.cc (pending a major overhaul soon), and get some mints for free at earncryptocoins.com/mintcoin, or Twitter (@FreeMintCoin). And also get the first Mintcoin's newsletter.

More things to come soon, including one that people expected for a loooong time.

Today it is EarthDay. Today it is MintcoinDay. Steady, sustainable.

Amazing developments! Happy Earth Day! Everybody show their support https://www.thunderclap.it/projects/10998-sonoma-county-redwood-reforest

Well, I just finished up a Mintcoin News Letter and deposited it into my DropBox account. Have a look and let me know what you all think. If you like it and have upcoming news that the community and new people will want to hear, send me a PM and I'll put it into the next News Letter. I'll hopefully be able to do one every week.

Excellent update. It is great to see what is going on behind the scenes and to know there are a lot of people working very hard on this coin. Thank you, Beaverslayer!

I mean if you wanna fork it don't change the protocol name lol

LOL I posted the same exact thing on the FLT twitter. "To aspiring coin devs: If you aim to create an innovative protocol, don't just change the name of an existing one- https://t.co/f4EaONYN9U"

right LOL, BRB creating new coin with proof of miner, and proof of steak (no typo)

I posted a similar thing on the original thread. Looks like they were nice enough to change it to PoT on this thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=579688.new#new
1593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BlackCoin (BC) | PoS | No premine | No IPO on: April 22, 2014, 01:19:22 AM
I LOVE BLACKCOIN! Anyway, If I were you, I would look into AsiaCoin too!

BlackCoin is the WEST and AsiaCoin is the EAST!

I've told myself not to touch any country coin again lol

It's not a country coin. It's a CONTINENT COIN and has no premine or IPO just like BlackCoin!

Black coin is not the West

Black coin is the World

+1 We are the champions, heading for $ 100.00 Grin

I agree that BlackCoin is the champion! AsiaCoin will also follow. If BlackCoin becomes worth $100 each then AsiaCoin will be worth roughly $25 each.

Sorry but it will not. I am a clairvoyant Roll Eyes. Stop buying trash and buy something that has a future, if you do not want to buy blackcoin, please go away from here, Man!!! you are free for to buy all scammcoin and shitcoins on this planet, let the BC for us. Grin

Another ignorant poster. I hold BlackCoins! I just see that there is a huge potential for BlackCoin to work with AsiaCoin, which is definitely not part of "scammcoin and shitcoins on this planet". AsiaCoin launched the same way as BlackCoin did and it has huge potential with Asia buyers. Asia has so many countries!

Even if you are a BC holder, don't go around promoting the other coins you hold on the BC thread. I learned that the hard way and have pretty much been shunned from this community. It is fair though, this is the BC thread.

i was thinking about the upcoming mintcoin foundation and the android wallet. what do you guys think of the following idea.

as soon as the foundation and the android wallet are up and running we select a known organization a lot of Mintcoin members would like to donate some coins to like e.g. PETA or WWF or something else. Instead of asking them whether they want to accept Mintcoin for the donation we already collect some donations worth maybe couple of hundreds of euros. Then an official Mintcoin donation letter/email to Peta/WWF/? "Hey guys, our foundation likes your work. We already have couple of millions Mintcoins waiting for you. all you have to do is tell us your Mintcoin wallet address. It would be nice if you could also post this address at your site so other people could donate it directly to you. You get the address by downloading this official Mintcoin app at the Play store. Any android device is sufficient. As soon as you receive the money you can of course directly convert it to USD/EUR and so on. Or you just keep it for a while and watch it getting more and more according to our protocol". Then something like, hey please answer within 1-2 months otherwise we donate that money to another organization.

I think that might be a nice incentive for them to accept Mintcoin as a way for a donation.

As always I'm curious what you guys think about it.

P.S. mr. beaverslayer, i've just donated my promised 300k to the bounty address above. please update! Roll Eyes

I agree, people will be much more likely to accept Mintcoin for donations if there is already a significant amount of mintcoins ready to be donated to them as soon as they accept.

I really hope that noob dumping 18btc of FLT for WC has managed to do so. It shakes confidence that someone so naive and fickle could hold so much and have the ability to affect the market.

The fact that there are so many people rushing over to WC thinking it is going to follow the exact same trajectory as BC is depressing to say the least. Has a direct copy-and-paste coin ever managed to match the market cap of its parent coin?

It's funny how people get so upset about a small premine on a coin. I don't think most people understand how expensive it actually is for a development team to release a coin. It's like people expect the developers to just spend thousands of dollars on the development, servers, PR, release, and support of a coin, and expect absolutely nothing in return. A developer of BlackCoin, rat0, stated he only received around 40K USD worth of donations for developing BlackCoin. This figure doesn't take into consideration the time and money he invested into BlackCoin. 40K USD is about as much as a lower middle-class individual makes per year in the US. It is not exactly a lot of money.

I could be wrong, but I think he stated that back when the coin was worth under 10k satoshi. If so, and if he didn't sell the BC he was donated back when it was that price (not to mention the BC he likely mined- I can't imagine a dev not mining their own coin on release), then that 40k USD of donations is now... maybe 200k USD?

OK guys and girls.

I just made few fixes and compiled windows wallet for us as well. Its version is set to 1.8.1, so you can tell the difference from 1.8.0.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/fodu0f7y7w2uopl/Mintcoin%201.8.1.zip

New wallet properly sorts all transactions by date as a default. It used to sort them by status. That is why orphan blocks always appeared on top.
New wallet has option to go to Mintcoin homepage under Help menu. Now you can quickly reach Mintcoin FAQ  Cheesy .
Locking and unlocking moved to under settings menu. Unlocking for minting only not working yet. I will sort it out when i get more time.
This wallet also has latest git pull merges from others.

Cheers!

Awesome! Thank you, Kergekoin!

no, but I am helping out the group that is working round the clock with development for marketing and other stuff that's not related to the development of the coin.

Wanst their a wsj article and a yahoo finance article comming up?

FLT, due to Proof-of-Transaction, deserves to be featured/mentioned on coindesk, if it hasn't already. IMHO.

Mintcoin Earthday Thunderclap Campaign

I was wondering if there is any interest in supporting a Mintcoin Earthday Thunderclap campaign?  I'm willing to donate a Million Mintcoins toward making it happen or about .13 btc . Anyone else interested in this?

I can donate 200,000 Mint. I would donate 400,000 Mint but I donated 200,000+ to the coinkite thingy and since I donated it straight from Mintpal, I'm pretty sure when it was refunded Mintpal was given 200,000+ Mint instead of me Undecided

I agree! I will be taking bites towards and out of that 2.2 BTC sell "wall" today.

Albeit very small bites, as I am but a small fish.

Edit: nvm. somebody beat me to it.
