1581  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you remember when Twitch banned gambling? Now they allow nudity! on: December 16, 2023, 09:42:29 AM
What a plot twist, is this also a live streaming of nudity?
Maybe there’s a big money for this compare to gambling and maybe this is more accepted by the regulation than to gambling. It’s hard to tell why they will allow this but if the regulations approve this then something is going on for sure. Let’s see if Twitch will stay longer without allowing any gambling streaming because for sure they are already losing a lot of money since they implemented this one.

This is a high level of hypocrisy, banning gambling that you can watch and ignore and allowing nudity that can entice and even hypnotize the viewer. I quite disagree with members that thinks that gambling is more harmful than nudity, because I've educated my underaged son who asked me questions about gambling. So if he starts to see nudity at his age, how do I start to educate him about homones at his tender age?

I guess nudity can bring more traffic than gambling, if it's so then it'll be choosing the one that's more profitable to them, although it still beats me because gambling is also very profitable. We'll just watch and see how it plays out in the near future.
1582  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Unknown fact our profitable colleagues won't tell us on: December 16, 2023, 08:35:41 AM
In trading no matter how skilled a trader is, he will most times lose some of his trades because no one has a crystal balls.
You nailed it here. Even an experience trader will at some points have bad trades. What matters the most is their risk management strategy. The balance between the risk reward ratio and the win rate should also never be ignored. A trader can have a very high risk reward ratio yet the win rate is shitty, or could have a very good win rate, yet the risk reward ratio is not good enough. In this case, he will just be giving the exchange lots of trading fees while the equity in the account just keeps going down.

I can agree that what really matters in this case when trading is an individual risk management strategy, because despite how you make your analysis, it can still go against your strategy. To an extent I still liken trading to gambling, because all the best efforts can yield you nothing, while minimal analysis can be profitable. I agree with OP that no one has a crystal ball to determine how trades will really go at the end of the day, so every trader will have to find a risk management strategy that suits them.
1583  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How do you withdraw your cryptocurrency from an exchange to a bank account on: December 16, 2023, 07:33:57 AM
Today i went to 5 banks to ask if they would be any problem withdrawing my crypto from an exchange to the bank. I let them know, i will have all the evidence they will need. they seemed very hostile to the topic of crypto. one bank went as far to tell me to not buy crypto.
I came across a lovely lady Today in the bank and she honestly let me know that i should not withdraw my crypto and deposit it to the bank because the bank will freeze the account even if you have evidence, because they do not know how to deal with the asset. I am from the United kingdom and would like to know the safest way to withdraw my crypto and put it in a bank

thank you for your comments

The central bank in my country has banned banks from facilitating crypto transactions, but the ban has not affected our cryptocurrency transactions. We rely on p2p and exchanges for our crypto to fiat transactions, we can do direct p2p were you send coins into are a recipient's wallet and he sends fiat as agreed into your bank account. We also do p2p transactions on exchanges like Binance, where we transact with exchange Marchants, pay him coins through the exchange and the Marchant pays agreed amount of fiat into your bank account.

Bitcoin is decentralized and if works in Nigeria, then definitely it'll work in the UK. So if the banks are frustrating your crypto transactions then you can try the method that I mentioned above.
1584  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Trend or long term projects? on: December 15, 2023, 09:41:25 PM
Crypto is mostly unexpected and we don't know which token will give us high profit. sometimes we expect a big pump in the token and we believe that this project has a lot of potential but this token performance remains low throughout bull and bear season just like DOT and Cardano while some coins we often called them scam and spam pumped hard like ORDI, Pepe, Floki. It's all about trend when trend end then no one want to buy these coins.

What is your suggestions about profit from altcoins. Should we rely on only buying long term projects or we should invest according to trend despite of looking that trends coin will have no value in future?

I don't follow coins that are trending because they are not suitable for the long term, but it's like gambling, it's better for me to buy long term coins even though my portfolio doesn't increase that significantly compared to coins that are trending, it can increase up to 1000x but it can also make our money disappear. Just invest in coins that are long term and have a good future because we also invest with the expectation that sometimes investments do not make a profit or loss but also maintain our own wealth. Do you agree with my opinion?

I quite agree with your opinion because with long term investments you're sure that when their bull run comes, you'll make enough profit that'll be worth the waiting.  Personally I like to minimize my risk, that is why I like to go for crypto coins that I'm sure that they'll not fade like some hyped coins, it's better for me to invest in Bitcoin and top altcoins, than trend tokens. Buying new altcoins are like staking money in casino games, you'll accept whatever outcome, whether win or lose, whereas in Bitcoin and top altcoins, it's a sure that you'll gain in the long run.
1585  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did we forget about the lighning network? on: December 15, 2023, 06:03:26 PM
Just a breif: The Lightning Network was literally the technology needed to enable Bitcoin to be adopted as legal tender at nation-state level. It is integral in Bitcoins evolution as a monetary asset from a store of value to both a medium exchange and unit of account. It is a game-changer homies and if it can get even more adoption, it can create further waves in many nations, especially those with truly decimated centralized national Fiat currencies. So why did we forget about it so soon and its not been talked about much in the forum.

This is a thread that has all the lightning network threads all together. Let's go through it nd enjoy the ride - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5345664.0

In order for a technology to become a part of our daily life, it needs to be simple and easy to understand. Lightning network is a complex bit of technology and a lot of people are still unsure how to use it. There are many flaws and bugs in it as well.

LN is useful but the developers need to Dig deeper to find out why people are not using it! LN has a long long way to go.

I've never used lightening network before, despite how they said that it cuts off high transaction fees and that it's very fast. Truth is that people who are more knowledgeable than me have not endorsed it, that is what made me lazy to try it for transactions. Just as you have noted if a technology is complex to use, then it can discourage people from attempting to use it, the way that I heard about it's complexity is a discouragement for me to try to use it.

I really hope that it's developers will look into it and see how they can make it to be less complex in usage, because I believe that lightening network can boost the adoption of Bitcoin.
1586  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why do we spam on: December 15, 2023, 03:46:21 PM
Spamming is not done by only forum members in signature campaign but also newbies who want to comment on topics that they have no idea on, because they want to be noticed. It is better that you don't comment on discussion that you have no idea on and let go of it. Sometimes it is better read than post.

Spamming is also done to farm merits, but the one that baffles me most are those members with different alts that spam, if they can't make quality post with those alts, it means that they are not qualified to have an alt, so they should only stick to one account to bring out the best in them.

There is really no genuine reason to spam in the forum, because we have numerous boards, therefore if a member can not actively perticipate in a topic, what the member has to do is try another topic or board. We have boards in the forum that discusses topics that are unrelated to crypto matters, so if a member is not knowledgeable about cryptocurrency, at least there must be a board in the forum that the member can relate to while waiting for a topic in Bitcoin or altcoins that they can make quality posts. So spamming in this forum that has thousands of topics to choose from is very unfair.
1587  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Fear for Fintech banks on: December 15, 2023, 11:53:42 AM
Me I de liken dis Fintech banks to di exchanges wey we de run our crypto transactions, na place to conveniently do our transactions, after dat na to transfer money put inside our traditional bank account. Di rumors of dem shutting down fit no be true, because na so wicked people de take carry fake news to spoil other people businesses. But the point be say so far say dem no get branches like normal banks wey you fit enter do physical transactions or make complaints, if anything happen to your money na OYO be your case. Dem de very convenient just like exchanges and I de reason say dem fit also go down like some exchanges, so as e no de advisable to leave your coins for exchanges, e no too de advisable to leave better money for inside Fintech banks.
1588  Economy / Economics / Re: It's not just money it's something else my Cousin try to Monaco but got refused on: December 15, 2023, 11:05:39 AM
They didnt Even explaining to Him properly why he just wamted to go and live Nice place for his retirement so we realised it's not just money it's status and connection but Also got be something else ... becouse those who are not legit ones can Even Open bank accounts and living nice there but why they refused honest person got me thinking it's not Even about money just something else what play here importance

When people are refused residency, immigration officials will tell the person the reason for the denial. Even if they refuse to give him the details, he has the right the request information about the grounds for this denial. I don't think money is the only criterion for granting residency in a foreign land, other issues such as criminal records, health status and even your country of origin are also considered. With the increase in criminal activities such as mass killings, attacks on schools and other security challenges, most European countries have become stringent in issuing residency.

But if you are legitimately in the country and you have the right to have a bank account, you could report to your country's embassy or seek the services of a financial expert or legal practitioner.

I would have loved if OP had shared more information like the country of origin of his cousin and his country of residence, that should have given us more insight into why he was denied entry into Monaco, and refused account opening. Except it's an issue of corrupt officials in the immigration that wants to be bribed, then there must be perhaps something that he didn't tell you, because I don't see any reason why a person will meet immigration requirements and still be denied.

Immigration can have a good reason to deny an immigrant entry into their state or country, it could be because of criminal record, health or relationship with migrant country. Financial status can be one of the requirements for entry, but I believe that if an applicant doesn't meet the other requirements, then he might be denied entry.
1589  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have you seen gambling advertisements on TV? Opinion. on: December 15, 2023, 10:17:19 AM
Gambling ads are not regulated in my country, you can see gambling sites ads on YouTube, social media and local TV channels. This is not good for the kids but there is nothing that people that have no say in the country can do about it and most people that wish gambling ads to be regulated fall into that category.

Tell your kids the truth. Let them know how gambling can dangerous, especially for kids but everyone though. Use life occurrences of people that gambling affected negatively as examples. Children do listen.

Gambling ads are not regulated in my country too, you'll see celebrities advertising different spots bets on tv, billboards and social media sites. As a matter of fact, the rate at which sports bet and lotto shops are springing up in every corners of the country is very alarming. You'll see the young and old trooping in to make bets, and these has become a norm that we're compelled to accept. Out if curiosity my young son was asking me what they sale in this shop that a lot of people enters and comes out from morning till night? It was a popular lotto shop annex, I had to tell him the truth of what people do in lotto shops and most importantly educated him on the harzards of gambling and addiction, after the lecture he promised me that he'll never enter a place like that. So in essence it's to educate our underaged children and dependants on the dangers of gambling ads that they see everytime.
1590  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Best exchange to start trading? on: December 15, 2023, 09:38:38 AM
What coins are you buying? Majot exchange list only good projects on Binance and Kucoin, but if you also trading other unknown coins these are usually present on mexc exchange. Id like to use this they dont need to engage with KYC and Ive been using that eversince. Well for major coins its alwsys Binance on the top of the list as it have huge volume and very user friendly exchange.

My start off point is always Binance, because there you can get a list of good and reliable coins, I'm not so comfortable with any coins that's not on it. There are other reliable exchanges like kucoin, that you also talked about, so he can start his research of finding a suitable exchange from the two. I'll also take your advice on trading unknown coins in an exchange like mexc, this is because I only do top altcoins.
1591  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Government job or private job? on: December 15, 2023, 07:31:11 AM

Which one do you prefer if you are given an offer?

Government jobs guarantees security, you're more relaxed and comfortable in the workplace, you're not given too much workload, you don't get to work during weekends and holidays, when you retire you're sure of a gratuity that can sustain you in old age. On the other hand there's no job security in most private companies, you can easily be fired at anything and probably be paid three months salary as compensation, or as agreed in your employment letter, you can be given the job of three people to do because the company wants to minimize expenditure, except for established companies most of them don't pay gratuities, we have more casual workers in private companies.

Taking all there advantages into consideration, most private companies pays better than government jobs, but in the long run most government jobs have better retirement packages than private companies. Government jobs makes it's workers to feel relaxed and not innovative, while private jobs, are demanding and they'll want you to be more productive. I'll choose private job over government job because I can improve myself better at a private job than a government job, and with my skills I can switch jobs to where I'll get a better pay package.
1592  Other / Off-topic / Re: Simple advice, don't get carried away by people success stories. on: December 15, 2023, 06:17:32 AM
my advice to everyone out there is that we should all be cautious of what we do from the things we hear because sometimes what profits the next man can actually turn out to be a disappointment to you.

We can take the celebrities as an example in this case, many of us are seing them in proxy and wish to be like them, which I don't see anything bad in having their kind of acheivements and success, but these same people couldn't be the same we can accept to go by their kind of lifestyle in real life, we may not like so many things we may later discover about them the more we are getting closer to them, we should rather pick up the good and leave the rest with them.

People get carried away when they see their favorite celebrities advertising a project, they'll eventually dive in and invest their hard earned money without carrying out their own personal research first to understand more about the product. I can only take advice from a celebrity if they're specifically talking about their area of expertise or talents, otherwise I'll have to research every advise or advert that they do or give, especially were it involves money, because they're most likely paid to do a job.

When it comes to family and friends, if they're giving me advice on areas that they're not specialized in, I'll discreetly carry my own research before engaging my time or money.  Because most times they also heard the information from unverified sources, and they share as they're told.

1593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cardano, XRP and LINK "massive giveaway" scams on: December 15, 2023, 05:30:04 AM
This sounds funny to me since I don't fall for giveaways on social media but this is a serious matter. I've seen some AI videos myself and I agree that there are still ways to recognize that it's fake so imagine if they become more refined in the coming years. YT and other platforms with video sharing should be quick to address this.

This are very worrisome developments and many people will fall for these A1 cloning scam, when the images and voices seems so real, it'll take a tech savvy person or someone who has been enlightened about what has been happening not to fall for the scams. Normally I'll easily fall for these scams when I see a person that is concerned with a perticular project talking about it and I'll tend to believe everything said by the person, this is why I'm very grateful for threads like this that enlightens an average person like me. Best thing to do is to keep ignoring them or like OP, inform others so they don't fall for these scams, lastly is to be very careful about promises of free rewards on the social media.
1594  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Universities want the Jews to be exterminated because Jews have high IQ levels. on: December 14, 2023, 06:57:24 PM
When the race gets into the part intelligence and the reference you provided is nothing but crocked to prove a fact even though it is not.

Violence exists all over the world and so does in universities and the main reason for that is racism which is not a deniable fact but jews are not the only one who became victims, I don't even think their numbers are anywhere near compared to a black or Asian.

I really don't know if OP narrations can be relied on to say that jews are discriminated on in universities, because I'm hearing it for the very first time. Discrimination and segregation are part of humans who feel that they're more superior than other humans, maybe because of class difference, race or position. I wouldn't be surprised if other nationalities are discriminated in those universities, that is if the allegations are true. Violence exists all over the world and I don't think that it's peculiar to Jews, infact the black race has surfered more injustice than any other race, so it is a berbaric act that needs to be stopped.

I'm thinking the reverse that in this age of technological advancement, that if anyone is found with a high IQ that they'll be celebrated and encouraged to manifest their talents. I sincerely doubt that any sensible university in this modern age will try to discourage, not to talk about exterminating great minds.
1595  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who should quit, and why? on: December 14, 2023, 05:04:38 PM
Hey house someone need a few clips here, don't know if a post of this exact nature has been discussed though.

In a situation where the both spouse are gamblers. Husband gambles, wife gambles, how can both of them manage the situation in terms of finance and family affairs especially when children are now involve so that the time both spends on gambling doesn't affect family moments and affairs in general.

Would it help if  one of the couple quit for the other and if that's the case who should quit for who.

I don't think it has been discussed before, if this happens to us this is going to be a hard question for me as my wife always has the last say when it comes to finances  Cheesy but it's better for us to just alternate playing, even if I want my wife to quit we will quarrel about this so why not just play alternately, she will have a whole week playing, and after a week it's my turn to play.
Of course, the money should be allocated so the rule is no additional funds, both of us should be content with the allocation

If a couple can agree on something then there's no way that it won't work in their family, all they need do is discuss about it and reach an agreement that'll be favorable to both of them. The most important thing in this situation is to have a weekly or monthly budget for gambling, and as you suggested, they can alternate the gambling, one gambles for one week and the other gambles the next week. Even better if they can have the chance and gamble together, but they must be disciplined not to exceed their gambling budget.

The most important aspect for a gambling couple must be that they're gambling for fun only, never as a source of income, because it'll certainly not end well if they experience loses for a whole week or month, who'll take care of their responsibilities.
1596  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Naija board service thread, how una reason am? on: December 14, 2023, 04:16:56 PM
The idea de good because I don see say di forum no be only about Bitcoin, matter, e de accommodate oda discussions wey no concern cryptocurrency. I don even see for some boards wey some members de advertise dem work and people de show interest to patronize dem. Aldo e for good if OP tell us some kinds of businesses wey im feel say we fit run for di forum? Because I believe say na only service businesses na im we fit do for forum, I no know weda buying and selling go de possible, based on say na anonymous forum be dis. How we wan take supply goods wey the identity of di buyer no go reveal?

So if we go get service thread, that wan go good, but I no go too support advert of physical goods, e go just be thread to advertise services wey you fit to share with customers or clients online. The most important aspect go be to get reputable members wey go fit do escrow services for di thread, or become our local trusted Marchant wey we go fit do p2p transactions with, instead of going to exchanges to change our coins to fiat.
1597  Economy / Economics / Re: Gold is up to new ATH, silver is up, BITCOIN IS BACK BABY!!! on: December 14, 2023, 01:15:20 PM
I don't think, investors will quit Bitcoin that is about to moved to another level where investors will begin to see what they have not see since the beginning of this year just to alert their investors, what is coming soon will be massive for Bitcoin investors. Gold and silver has lose many customers to Bitcoin when the price of Bitcoin hit $69,000 last two years for long term and short term holders to used the opportunity to achieved a lot of income that gave other people mind to withdraw their money from gold and silver investment and invest the money in Bitcoin. It is no longer a news that bullish season is very close to those that prepared well to buy Bitcoin when the price was low in the market to enjoy massive reward soon.

No doubt Bitcoin, is on a massive pump road that leads to ATH destination, and with the way price is pumping it's an indication that we should expect a bountiful bull run. So to all Bitcoin believers, despite the relatively high price now, we shouldn't relent in our efforts to continue to accumulate and hold the valued asset, because it'll surely reach and go beyond $100k in bull run proper. From my observation the awareness and adoption of Bitcoin, is now on the increase because of the testament of the recent price pump, people are telling other people to invest in Bitcoin, before bull run.
1598  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A hero or a fool? on: December 14, 2023, 12:04:33 PM
A hero to himself but a fool to others.

This is simply how I see it because of the fact that he cannot control himself hence the Fool and because he did it to himself to save himself, then he is a hero for himself. That's just how I see it and if that's the only way he can, then it's good he did it to help himself.

A weird take on this is he can still play. I mean I would understand if it's online but if it's land based, it's still weird. It's like the ban is not there if he could still play. The Hero turned into a Fool since it's like that lol.

His method might seem foolish to some and heroic to others, but so far it worked for him even if the move might seem foolish, in the end it stopped his gambling addiction, then I guess he is the conquering hero. I once read in a book that result is more important than method, so the end justifies the means, because he was able to use a method that seems foolish to most of us, then eventually got his desired result, I'll have to label him a winner and hero. What if he had chosen a more convenient method like getting help through therapy and in the end he still finds himself in casinos, still losing money? So in conclusion, it's better to use foolish method and get the job done than to use wise method without positive result.
1599  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading is hard!!! on: December 14, 2023, 11:08:50 AM

if they are dumb enough to see trading as ponzi scheme then certainly they didn't understand it and exactly the reason they failed.

the success stories of traders are enticing that is why when they say they are just following certain trading strategy laid out by someone like when two moving averages cross paths, you can sell, and when boom. earn thousands a day.  some of it is true but because every trend is different, a strategy doesn't work all the time.

.

This is truly a misconception by people who are ignorant of how Bitcoin, trading works, they think that you can just put in your money and the next thing is start earning. Others simply see Bitcoin, trading as gambling, where you trade and depends solely on luck to make profit, you'll trade blindly and accept any results, either win or lose. Traders in Bitcoin, knows that trading and gambling shares same risk factor, gambling depends on luck, while trading requires the knowledge of fundamental and technical analysis to predict outcomes, without which it becomes gambling.

Trading in actual sense is hard, no doubt, because despite all the technical know-how and predictions, you can still have loses at the end of the day. But if you have a good knowledge of how the market supply and demand works, how crypto news works, then you can minimize loses.
