1581  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Procoininvest.com - Ponzi scheme on: March 18, 2023, 08:03:49 AM
Your investment will increase by 600 percent in an hour? I suppose that anyone, even those without a high school education, can spot this kind of fraud...

I don't even understand for whom such unrealistic interest rates are calculated so that someone can believe it and invest their money. The fraud is so obvious that I doubt that anyone will believe in such an unrealistic profit and part with their money.

Enjoy- https://youtu.be/thMP0ZpGlDw

This never ceases to amaze.

The number of scams out there will never go down simply because the number of people that fall for them must be high enough for them to recycle the same profit making fake promises to gullible people. I hope people manage to wise up and start avoiding going anywhere near websites that claim to have unbelievable ROI otherwise they will lose the funds they sent to the scammers.

That website gave me flashbacks of the first time someone approached me about bitconnect and sent me the company link. The piss poor grammar is baffling to me..it’s like they aren’t even trying. The return charts are a joke of course etc etc.

Sadly, the VAST majority of people are clueless and remain clueless. I’m an FA, so I see this ignorance all day every day. I get asked about crypto a lot..most own utter shitcoins (knowing absolutely nothing about them) and never once has a single client even known what a hot wallet or hardware wallet is. They sure as shit don’t understand cold storage, forks etc. I recommend Trezor like crazy but I’m willing to bet maybe 25% of them actually heed my advice. I sent a spare ledger wallet to a buddy I worked with (a fellow FA) maybe 3 years ago. Explained how corrupt Coinbase is etc. He texted me when FTX went down and said “this is why you told me to use ledger right, but isn’t Coinbase safer than FTX”. Once again I explained..still hasn’t moved his coins.  People in large part are extremely lazy and immune to good advice.

So sadly, these obvious scams have plenty of scamming opportunities to look forward to.

Looks like 2 of you just took huge hits. Purdue beat by a #16 seed. BRUTAL!!! It's such a crazy year though, none of the teams are dominant. Still anyone's game at this point as points should go up each round. It's all going to depend on who gets the most teams in the Final Four IMO.

Yeap thats me 🙋‍♂️ Purdue was considered the best team most of this year I think weren’t they?  This is what you get when you make picks based on your heart not your head..I think Matt Painter coached for 2 years when I was at SIU, awesome coach. What in the f was this. Wasn’t this the second time or maybe 3rd that a 1 lost to a 16? SMH. You’re right the field is very even which is awesome, bud a 1 losing to a 16 shouldn’t happen. Fack.

@OG…I’ll run this again next year and remind you to get in. And yes, for ESPN there’s now 0 perfect brackets out of 20 million.

2nd time in history.  16 seeds were 1-150 in history and Virginia a couple years ago lost to a 16 seed for the first time.  Purdue lost last year to st Peter's  who was a 15 seed.  Weak sauce.  Funny thing is they had the tallest guy in college at 7'4" and  FD had the smallest team in the country.  Their biggest guy was 6'6" and edey (7 foot dude) got 1 shot attempt in the last 12 minutes.  Painter is getting fired...no doubt.

So just learned Painter actually played PG for Purdue for 4 seasons, while Bruce Webber was an assistant to Keady. They both came to SIU and absolutely killed it. Painter was an assistant under Bruce till he left for IL, his one year as my schools coach he was MVC coach of the year, and had us ranked #15 in the nation, which is huge of course for a mid major. Wheelz you prob remember those Saluki teams, we were stacked back then and the MVC had creighton (& Kyle korver) and Wichita state, so was a really good conference . When he left it all fell apart. The guy can coach and recruit, he’s 413-197 career at Purdue, last two seasons being his best w 29 wins. He’s likely not going anywhere anytime soon IMO…but yeah today was his worst loss ever that’s for sure.

1584  Economy / Reputation / Re: How wide reaching can the consequences of Chipmixer money laundering be? on: March 17, 2023, 05:25:39 PM
The FBI isn’t going to come after signature wearers. They don’t have the time or resources first off. Secondly, those who advertised for CM didn’t have access to internal protocols, so how could they have known. The FBI went after the major promoters of bitconnect, but didn’t attempt to contact anyone underneath them promoting the obvious ponzi. They want those in charge, who were in the know.

In the collectibles world here on the forum there’s been an attempt to contact the FBI and other regulatory bodies over essentially theft by a coin maker that is likely well over a million dollars  ..we’ve been turned away and sent on a wild goose chase left and right to try and get some legal body to just listen to what’s going on. If it’s that hard to get someone to investigate a million dollars + in fraud, does anyone really think they’ll go after CM signature wearers who weren’t aware they were promoting an illegal business.

According to news outlets, German authorities seized servers and crypto worth $46 million. US authorities have accused Chipmixer of laundering over $3 billion since 2017. If international authorities will try to seize all funds related to Chipmixer as they are deemed to be illicit, then it is possible that an attempt could be made by authorities to retrieve all the funds that have been paid out as signature campaign fees as they have effectively promoted/advertised the service.
They should first go after Google for receiving money for scam advertising (which happens on a large scale, every single day).

This could end up being very messy for a lot of members in the forum that participated in their signature campaigns if the FBI and US justice department decide to force forum members to repay all the money they received from Chipmixer as signature campaign income.
Eh... seems like a waste of time. Not everyone is from the US, and I don't think mixers by themselves are illegal.

The paper on ChipMixer by the DoJ implies that their crimes were:

1. money laundering;
2. operating an unlicensed money-transmitting business;
3. identity theft.

Would CM be hunted if they specifically analyzed the coins received before mixing them? Like, imagine them contacting Chain analysis and asking if the coins a user sent came from a DNM, and if so, prompting the user for his KYC documents... (crime 1)

Would they be hunted if they disallowed US customers and enforced that by also taking KYC documents (thus not being an "unlicensed money-transmitting business" in the US?) (crime 2)

And last, if ChipMixer didn't register his PayPal accounts with bought/stolen documents? (crime 3)

https://www.justice.gov/opa/press-release/file/1574581/download

I Remember when bitconnect ads were all over YouTube…the most obvious ponzi in a long time.  Problem is google is more powerful than the FBI, as the US allows for massive corps to fund political campaigns all they want , which means politicians are mostly just bought puppets, who can (and do) tell the FBI to leave certain companies alone. It’s the biggest joke in the US governmental system that this is still allowed.
1585  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Dose drugs have an advantage on human being. on: March 17, 2023, 04:43:46 PM
If a dose of the drug isn't recommended and suggested by your doctor, you shouldn't take it. Don't get advice from people that are not medical professionals. I've seen cases of too much does that they've taken drugs that weren't recommended and yet, they took the advice of nonmedical people and as result, they're the ones that suffered from taking doge of those unrecommended drugs.
Use of it inappropriately does have side effects and even the correct usage of it so, it's more harmful if the use was inappropriate. Those reasonings that their takers are saying are just being said to justify their addiction on it, nothing less, nothing more.

This is flat out wrong. Doctors are often biased, uneducated, scared due to potential legal ramifications for recommending some “drugs” etc.  Some doctors are flat out morons. My last two doctors are very pro-marijuana but my moms doctor is anti-marijuana because he’s uneducated and misinformed. This is why people often get opinions from multiple doctors.

I own one titan BTC with priv key afixed to the coin. Read some of you guys so understood it was a scam.
Does this also affect non 2FA coin or did the guy just scammed all customers?

Last check ive made 1 year ago show the coin was funded with 1 BTC.

As far as I know there are no know issues (so far!) with private-key coins.
I'd also recommend you download an address tracker software, so you can have your public keys checked by just looking in your app.

For iOS: https://satpile.com/
Android: https://samouraiwallet.com/sentinel

Ty, really appreciate

I saw that BTCcollector19 redeemed a priv key coin loaded with 0.01 BTC not so far ago.

Sorry  for this question but never heard of address tracking sofware. I guess it work with the coin id number and i don't have any access to it right now (and a least not before a big couple of month)

If it were me, I’m redeeming any I own. I know some people don’t like that I’m saying this as it’s devaluing the coins (not necessarily me alone but as a collective of those who recommend doing the same thing). I don’t think any of us trust Tim at this point (why the hell should we), so me personally I’m not trusting that he doesn’t have copies of the private keys. I’m especially encouraging this if you’ve got a higher amount such as 1BTC. Once you peel them, they will still have collector value/premium, plus you ensure you own that bitcoin and not have to hope that the shady creator doesn’t rug pull. Just my two Satoshis.

If Tim is as evil as ppl says, then it makes no sense to rob 2FA and not the whole bag. My guess is PK stickers were made by a subcontractor (as the physical coin too). The guy then put the stickers on the coins then sold them. Tim have no access to PK for non 2FA coins!!!
Quite confident with that.

Anyway, i have the code available on the certificate (7 or 8 digits) but not the public key (and site is down)!

Earlier today you were asking if Titan PK coins were affected and seemed to have little knowledge of the whole situation, now you’re confident about knowing how some of his procedures took place..Interesting.

Truth is you have no real idea what Tim has access to or not PK wise outside of the 2FA coins. Tim encouraged people to buy 2FA coins, despite it always being a bad idea and not properly executed,un- like Casascius 2FA items which don’t require Mike Caldwell or his website to be redeemed, nor did he store all 2FA keys in a bank vault (like Tim did). Tim has poorly managed his website and locked people out of their btc value on 2FA coins several times over the years. Most recently his sites 2FA redemption tool was down for a couple years, then all of a sudden he moves the coins and comes up with a convoluted doxxing process to redeem them..which was not what he originally promised and promoted.

I didn’t say Tim was evil, I said he was shady, which is a fact. Tim has been pulling this nonsense for years..and I’ve posted plenty of proof of this. Have you read his websites TOS before when it was available ? I have, and it’s shady. Why did Tim outsource business to Russia and Russian programmers..I can’t think of any legitimate reasons for doing so but I can think of illicit reasons in doing so. Cheap programmers can be found in nations like India and other countries that you might have legal recourse if your partners screw you in any way..that’s not happening in Russia. Titanbitcoin.com seems to be down atm (I’m on mobile so perhaps it’s accessible via desktop and will try tomorrow), so anyone trying to redeem their coins can’t even visit the website to even try to. Titanbtc.com is up and running, with a link to titanbitcoin.com for “more information”, that doesn’t work..and there’s not a single mention of how to redeem 2FA coins and or the issue with them. So if you weren’t aware of the situation you’re probably trying to contact Tim directly, who won’t respond. He apparently has the bitcoin from the 2FA coins now, but is making it as difficult as possible to redeem ..this all isn’t shady?  I beg to differ. Why in the Fuck would you trust anything Tim has created ..he’s given zero reason to do so. I could go on.

Ive just asked kindly for a brief summary of the situation. It takes then 20 minutes to discover that only 2FA is impacted not PK coins. I do not need to check further to assess the situation which is obviously quite common : a ripp off.
Maybe ive been screwed. Will not be the 1st or last time. I do not really care, i knew before i bought the coin that it was a tricky situation (not your key, not your bitcoin).

Anyway, Tim bought silver coins he designed himself   from a local mint then contract a company for the stickers. So what?
Do you really think he bought all the equipement necessary to mint coin and create PK? Then spent time to learn how to use all those costly machines?
For such small batch of coin sold at low price, his business would not have been profitable and he would probably starved to death before selling even one coin.

This is common practice in industry to hire subconstractors for hardware then assemble the parts alltogether and sold the whole at a decent price.
That's why i am confident.

Many thanks for this thread and all the kind people who replied. (asfar as i know, no such equivalent to bitcointalk in France). Sorry for my wrong wording

There’s a French part of BitcoinTalk, check the homepage.

I never said Tim minted the coins, or created his holograms ..of course he didn’t. He also didn’t design the coins- proof- https://youtu.be/qV7I-TZIjKc . But he most likely did create the private keys and worked on Assembly ..at least I would sure as shit hope he did, otherwise they are even more risky than they already are as we have no idea who did create the keys.. Tim sold a lot of coins (more so than people realize or he’s ever admitted), and likely had a high end printer /pc setup to facilitate the funding..just like Casascius, kialara, crypto imperator, lealana, satori, btcc, polymerbit, cold keys (scam), bigtimespaghetti, etc etc all did.  Key generation and hologram placement is the main thing these makers do , along with many also doing design. No mints print keys and assemble coins..none. MinerJones and OGNasty are two forum members who have created keys for other coin companies like Genesis and Nattymind (or something close to that), for example, but this is always clearly stated and made known to buyers.

One common thing between scam coins ..there’s typically no mention of how and who created the keys. Titan I don’t believe has ever stated this information..I could be wrong ..but yet another red flag. Again, I’ve read his TOS…it didn’t leave me feeling confident, and clearly established to try and curtail potential litigation.

No offense, but your claims are purely conjecture, and misinformed.

@BBC as wheelz stated the problem is there’s just not that much available out there to try and go get, and there’s definitely no one as close to as good as Rodgers available, even at 40.

David Montgomery signed by the Detroit Lions late last night.  As a Bears fan, Im actually really happy about this. I think he’s criminally overrated.  There’s a lot of solid RBs available right now and apparently the Bears are considering trading for Ekeler. He’d be a great upgrade but not sure if his contract would be reasonable.

The rpa action between fields and Ekler would be deadly.  I'm not big on large contracts for rbs but this one would make sense for the Bears.  Short passes and the run game for the Bears would be elite between those 2.  Good veteran presence in the locker room too.  Wonder what chargers would want back in a trade.

At this point I think there’s too many solid running backs on the free-agent market that you’ll be able to sign for much less than what you’d have to give up to the Chargers, plus what you’d have to spend signing him after trading for him, as you’re of course not going to spend capital to get him for him to only walk away 1-2 years later (not sure exactly what his current contract looks like).

Derrick Henry might also be available, and despite what most people think, he’s actually got a lot less wear and tear than many assume as he sat behind Murray for a few years so he was eased in to begin his career.

Damien Harris is available, would love for the Bears to swoop him up.

Seems like just yesterday I was emailing you for the first time about the 2015 Silver Editions..crazy how fast time flies! Best of luck with this silent auction, I’m sure it’ll do quite well. Just make sure you’re investing what you can afford to lose as well as that you’re not taking money away from your retirement investment portfolio. That should always come first and foremost. Keep in mind bitcoin is inherently NOT an investment, it’s a digital currency that solved double spending and a host of other issues with previous payment systems as well as digital cash.

Can’t wait for the games to start tomorrow! I have been meaning to install a TV in my office at home but have been lazy so this was good motivation to get me to finally set it up.

Rooting for Purdue personally. Their coach Matt Painter was the coach for Southern Illinois University when I went to school there (during our run of 6 straight tournament bids as well as 2 sweet sixteen appearances) so I’ve been rooting for him ever since. One hell of a coach!

You two have said your peace, now please let’s move on. If you want to continue to discuss your issues with each other, please do so privately via DM.  More and more victims of Titan mint continue to find this thread and its important that we keep everything completely on topic. You guys have gone through all this multiple times now..please guys.

@everyone.. I think a good course of action at this point is to draw up a summary of what happened, and where everything currently stands. I will add this to the OP so that when new people come in, they can easily find out what’s going on without having to go through 20+ pages. If anyone is willing to assist with this, that of course would be very helpful!
1594  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A costly gambling mistake on: March 15, 2023, 04:37:05 PM
The most popular mistake that newbies make with online casinos is avoiding the rules and regulations, not all online casinos will put up a warning sign on their first page and say 👇

"New users are welcome, please read our rules and regulation before making your first deposits"

You have to look for the website FAQ and go through it first, I have seen some newbies that avoid doing this has they ended up shooting themselves in the foot.

Some even start spreading FUD on the forum about these gambling platforms that did them wrong, not knowing that they are the ones at fault, they are guilty because they don't read the rules and regulations.

Yeah I’ve noticed a good bit of this going on as well. Of course reading the FAQs is an important rule for anyone joining an online casino, but do some basic google searching as well. Check and see how the reputation of the Casino is. If there’s issues and nonsense for newbies to have to deal with, then you’ll most likely see that all over google on forums and what not talking about it. Problem is people are lazy and rarely take the time to do things like this.

Hey everyone...I just joined as I tried checking the Titanbtc.com website this morning and noticed it was down for the first time since I bought my Titans...found this thread while googling around and my heart sank.

So it looks like I'm another victim of this cluster...

What is the latest? Is there anything anyone can do? I saw a link to FBI and another one to https://www.fincen.gov/contact - is there anything else we can do to try and figure out this mess? Has anyone begun the process for a class action lawsuit? I have yet to peel the holo off my coins...is that something I should be doing?

Thnx to anyone who responds!

I would recommend reading the last few pages of this thread.. I mean if I were you I’d probably read through the whole thread (skip through the drama posts), but the last few pages are what’s most important to know right now.

One of the main reasons I created this thread was to warn others outside of BitcoinTalk whom I figured would be eventually searching for information via google once they found out that they were unable to redeem their coins.  I’m glad you were able to find it..was it easy to find or did it take some time? I was thinking of rewording the thread title to try and make it easier to find.

I'm curious what country you live in?  Here in the United States it was a mess like everywhere else.  I was scared of loosing my job and of course the economy took a major hit and continues to do so.  I actually just picked up my mother from the hospital who has Covid and she feels absolutely awful.  Praying to god that I didn't catch it from here..I stayed as far away as possible..but we shall see how hard or easy it is to catch as I wore a mask, washed my hands and used hand sanitizer.
1598  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Bitcoin cannot be a Bank? on: March 15, 2023, 12:46:49 AM
Ehh I mean it just depends on how you look at it.  Bitcoin technically would only be a "bank" if it was simply an asset, or means of currency that a bank used.  At that point, that means that a company of workers is behind the bank, and they will certainly charge fees, be able to freeze accounts etc.

Now I know this is not what he means, but that's what banking is.  Banking is lending, accounts etc..and that's not what bitcoin is..it's simply a digital currency/asset.

I guess there might be a such thing as "street gambling" here in the United States, but it's certainly not a known thing.  In fact public transportation like buses and subway systems specifically state "no gambling" on the rules and these are always posted on the side of the bus or train or whatever, all over the place.  They certainly do this because yes it is dangerous and certainly something I'd avoid at all costs.  Too many ways to gamble now that don't involve all that risk.

@ChiBitCTy. Aaron Rodgers will not go to the Las Vegas Raiders? I always speculated that Las Vegas would be his next team after the Raiders traded for Davante Adams. They might need that type of partnership to bring them to the post season.

Also, it appears Lamar trade to the 49ers speculation is growing. This does not imply that it will be an effortless negotiation, however.

Then you have Lamar Jackson. The Baltimore Ravens placed the non-exclusive franchise tag on the former NFL MVP, giving them the right to match any offer from an interested team.

Kawakami believes the 49ers are (or were) intrigued by the possibility. At the very least, they probably haven't dismissed the idea, and the writer doesn't believe they should.

"I checked around myself on Wednesday and was told that the 49ers are looking at everything, as always," Kawakami wrote.

He notes that the 49ers were not included in a list of organizations seemingly ruled out of a potential Jackson sweepstakes—teams like the Carolina Panthers, Atlanta Falcons, Washington Commanders, and Miami Dolphins.

Honestly I'm not a huge fan of Lamar Jackson.  I don't think he has the depth of skill to handle Shanahan's system.  He can have two, maybe three reads tops and then he's off running.  QBs of Jackson's style (historically speaking) aren't durable enough to last a whole season, and the speed of one's legs don't often compensate for the lack of ability to read defenses and progressions.  I'm entitled to my opinion.

As for trading for a veteran; I wouldn't doubt if Shanahan feels Trey Lance burning a hole in his pocket.  If it were me I wouldn't go for Jackson or Rodgers at this point, I might still want to see what other options come about or simply wait to see if Lance fulfils his draft-day promises.

The Raiders signed Jimmy Garapollo earlier today, so they will definitely not be going after Aaron Rodgers now. The Jets still make too much sense for Rodgers. They’ve got a much better team than the Packers, so he’s improving his situation sizably in my opinion, not sure what the hold up is at this point. I still expect this deal to get done.

I can’t see Lamar going to the Niners. They’ve already got two QBs on the roster they’ve either invested a lot in or have seen a lot from..doesn’t make sense to me.

I figured that Jimmy G would end up in Vegas, it just makes sense for both him and McDaniels given their history together, and Garoppolo's experience within McDaniels' system.  Despite his fragility, I think that Garoppolo will be a significant upgrade over Derek Carr.

Yeah Jimmy G made sense for the Raiders, but I'd still have tried my hardest to get Rodgers, who's 10x better.  Jimmy G is a very solid game manger, but he's just that..a game manger. He's never going to be the reason you win a Championship...Rodgers would/could be.  Just my 2.

Welp the jets just landed lazard and Rodgers publicly said if he goes to the jets he wants them to pick up lazard so I'd say that's a done deal.

My giants scooped up Darren waller for a 3rd round pick.  Just hope the dude can stay on the field.  If so that would be a huge plus in their passing game but that's a huge if.

Love how football season just keeps going.  Up next month draft mania lol.

I saw that with the Giants, congrats, that's a huge pickup.  I can't believe the Raiders let him go.  What a bunch of fools.  They have ZERO change at winning shit now IMO..they needed both Waller and Adams to catch balls.  Now they can double up on Adams easier.

Yeah it's only a matter of time before Rodgers signs with the Jets.  I think he's on Pat McAfee show tomorrow and I can see him wanting to wait to announce it there, or announce that's the plan but the Packers are holding things up on their end.  Either way I think it would be hilarious if he makes the Jets go get all his guys and what not then decides against playing lol.  Regardless happy to FINALLY not have a super star HOF QB on the Packers kicking my Bears asses year after year.
