15881  Other / Serious discussion / Re: It's hard to know who to believe. on: October 01, 2019, 01:44:20 PM
Hence, Parallel targets of solar energy are desirable.

I don't totally agree with this

The storage technology for renewable energy is both required and immature (it's very immature considering how old the energy storage field is), if significant proportions of energy production is to be changed to renewable sources. It's the ideal, but until then, renewables are best used to smooth out peaks in demand, as that supply profile matches what the tech is actually capable of in the actual real world
You are absolutely right that Storage isn't mature enough to allow renewable sources to cater to base load requirements on their own. That is why we still need Coal/Gas fired plants. Yet, I meant it in a developing country context that why these parallel targets are necessary.

This is an on-going debate in India. Power equipment manufacturers have their order-books spread thin as Govt. has slowed down funding for conventional power plants owing to their climate change commitments. I believe USA under Trump pulled out of the agreement to safeguard mining, automobile jobs. Its much tougher for India to do so.

The problem with India and China is the sheer concentration of humanity here. The detrimental health effects are proving to be a huge healthcare cost in Indian cities. Indian planners have to balance between the need for additional power against the environmental/healthcare costs of going ballastic on conventional power plants.
Like I said earlier, Indian plants are more polluting compared to the well-managed power plants that Jet Cash is mentioning. The coal quality is low with a higher sulphur content, lower calorific value resulting in higher ash content. Compared to western/ European plants, few have Desulpharization or Catalyitc converters to take care of SOX/ NOX (Which as Carlton pointed out have severe immediate health effects). Investments in this direction have just started and that too is big business. Hope you can see why parallel renewable targets are important for a country like India.

I didn't refer to the use of solar panels, but the replacement of productive arable land with solar farms.
That reply was more towards Fish as he pointed out carbon footprint of manufacturing solar panels and batteries, and then you said, "I agree that batteries"..Well.. Roll Eyes LOL..You are right about the need for a middle path here. (Better management of conventional plants). I am not on the Climate change denial side which I guess even you are not, though it seemed to me that you are because of "Solar isn't renewable".

We probably disagree on the reasons and the ways to mitigate that. (Let me know if am judging this correctly.)
For the dilemma on science, when it is not known who is right, maybe we could look at the motivations. Those who deny climate change typically belong to the established coal, petroleum, automobile industries. It is but natural that they don't want anything to eat into their substantial profits. I feel that the renewable supporters (not the renewables industry) are the under-dogs here.

We have sufficient non-arable land to cover with Solar panels that will not lead to the affects that you are concerned about. In India, there are plans to install solar panels along railway tracks. There has already been efforts to use Water Canals for this purpose. Even train coaches with solar panels installed on roofs to cater to Lighting usage. So, Allow me to say that for incremental improvements, space is not the constraint.

Then again, most city-based pollution comes from automobiles. Consumer level actions like Roof-installed solar panels, battery vehicles can go a long way in reducing pollution in cities. Isn't that a desirable action? If someone denies it by saying that CO2 isn't that bad, which side should I err towards?

I bolded the most important line in the entire thread.

This is the cause of all the pollution/global warming and the solution is simple showers and oral sex . A world wide reduction in population caused by lots of oral sex.

Once we shrink the worlds population to 4 billion a lot of the other problems leave us.

Of course we all know it won’t happen this way. What will happen is massive flooding and death over the next 50 years.
15882  Other / Meta / Re: [SCAM PREVENTION]Remove self-moderation for topics within the marketplace! on: October 01, 2019, 01:11:48 PM

I think the reasons cited for self moderation in those boards is a lot like the informal logical fallacy "overextend outrage". Overextend outrage is a form of poor statistical thinking where one or more statistically rare cases are implied to be the norm or the trend (without evidence). While that is not the full description/definition and this isn't a perfect match it is close. The number of unmoderated threads far outweigh the self moderated threads and instances of trolling are fairly rare. The number of self moderated threads started by scammers is much higher than the number of trolling incidents in those boards. Basically I just dont buy that argument

This I agree with.
Self moderation is an anachronism and should be completely removed from the forum.

So not being able to delete posts like the one below is what you want?

“Fuck you die you mofo.  Btw his address is available via a pm”

Posted by a newbie with nothing to lose.

A self mod when properly used is a good tool.
I self mod almost every single thread I make.
And if I do delete a post I quote the post. Unless it is a post like the fake one in quotes above.

If you look at most threads I do I don’t have to self mod or delete much . I like to think it is because people know i will mod it fairly.

So I have an almost new white Trezor One hardware wallet for sale - Its been sitting around for almost a year as I purchased it at the same time as the Trezor Model T thinking I'd use both. Never ended up happening and its just been collecting dust. Make me an offer in crypto and we'll see what we can do to make a deal.

Yes I've sold something here at BCT successfully, please check my feedback.

Sealed or opened?

Both mikeywith and wndsnb have good points.

USA fed laws
State laws
City laws

All vary.

New Jersey and Massachusetts are very good.

Both can use mining gear a leverage tool to create a larger solar array.

You can do a mixed gear setup we did this. We now earn about .6 btc and 7 ltc a month.

We will add a s17 pro every once in a while from profits. Which is how we can justify buying them.

I understand the value of getting cheap power with cheap old gear. But sliding in a good piece here and there is okay.  If you are not fully free or have limited free power. Say 10 s9s are using the max power you can do for free.  Eventually you need to get an s17 from the s9 profits. When you do it lower the s9s to a slower speed and add in the hash from the s17.  You increase your hash rate. Wait for more time and add in  another s17.  Do feed all the profits to new s17s hold some of the coin cash some of the coin.

A ratio of

new gear
Held coins
Cashed coins.  Maybe .33+.33+.34=1.0
15885  Other / Meta / Re: Possible root cause of permanent bans because of plagiarism made years ago on: September 30, 2019, 01:37:12 AM
People hope to use plagiarism to achieve financial gain.
Is it really that difficult to write 2 or 3 sentences on your own on a topic that interests you without cheating!?
No, its not, but plagiarism helps save minutes off the time it takes to write a post, and these several minutes extrapolated over many posts can add up. This adds up even more when someone is intending on spending all his available time writing posts (he is earning all his income from posting).

You have a legit point if a person has 10 accounts and does ten signature campaigns.

To me I would love a signature holiday 60 days it would allow us to determine how many are posting to earn a living. We could track the drop in traffic and maybe alter signature campaigns for the better.
15886  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is mining gear efficiency a strong reason for difficulty increment? on: September 30, 2019, 01:12:09 AM
That is because you are looking at the mining as a mining setup.
It is not it is a tool to create a 1300000 million solar array. In NJ , USA I get to use 300,000 in mining gear to create a solar array worth 4x the price of the mining gear. Which is rolled into the price of the array and gets tax credits because it was what created the power demand in that site.

I know that what it earns in two years is really not anywhere as important as the solar array which would not be put into play without the mining gear.

I used 448k as earnings for sake of simplicity.

Also this is a very specific example of how over paying for gear creates a good deal (large solar array)

A lot of companies are doing clever moves with gear and making money outside the box of using the gear to mine with.
15887  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is mining gear efficiency a strong reason for difficulty increment? on: September 29, 2019, 10:14:52 PM
Here goes  Lakewood City in NJ has special economic incentives.  So sales taxes = 3% not 7%  300,000 in inprovements  costs 309,000 not 321,000
NJ has special tax incentives for solar investment  1,600,000 investment in solar  will get back 800,000 in incentives.  2019 is last year for this plan
USA feds has 30% tax credit so 1,600,000  will get back   480,000

so  800,000 +   480,000 = 1,280,000 in credits.  so 1,600,000- 1,280,000  = 320,000 real cost for setup
An empty warehouse  using little or no power  but has a 3 acre roof  has room for 1500 x 400 watt panels  that is 600,000 watts  cost is  1,300,000 but power company does not allow you to use it  since you are not pulling the power.   Buy 100 s17pros now for 300,000

it creates a 100 x 2225 = 222,500 power demand
roll that into the  1,300,000 in panels  = 1,600,000   oct  nov dec power bills allow you around 36,000 in power cost
1,636,000 is cost of solar plus gear  incentives bring you to 356,000  real cost.  and you have roughly   600,000/5 =  120,000 watts 24/7/365

run the s17 pros on low power  144000 watts 24/7/365
this means  you are getting  100 x x 40t =4ph for 24kwatts a day 24/7/365     for a net cost of 16,588 in yearly power past what you generate.
and 356,000 real cost out of pocket.

4ph earns 614 usd a day.  or 224,256 a year.   in 2 years  you have  448,000 back.
and a fully paid off 600,000 watt solar array which is much more valuable then the miners.

14 lines.  of what you need to make buying the s17s at 3000 right now worth it.
15888  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is mining gear efficiency a strong reason for difficulty increment? on: September 29, 2019, 06:01:05 PM
There are so many varying taxes laws country to country state to state city to city  that  I could write 20 pages on justifying why  a guy should buy  100000 in s17s at 3000 each.  I am running to a party in 10 minutes I will get back to this and give and example of how laws in Lakewood NJ USA would work for a 3,000,000 build using 100,000 in s17's.
15889  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is mining gear efficiency a strong reason for difficulty increment? on: September 29, 2019, 03:26:14 PM
Think a 80,000 foot building wired and hooked up to run 12 megawatts  all done back in 2017.  before sept of 2017  and this guy made serious coin on the sept-dec runup.

let him have  3 cent power.

Last spring  he jumped on s17's which were  well under 1800   usd he put them in  filled the 12 megawatts  for only  1800 x 5000 = 9,000,000

he now has 1800 x 53 = 95,400 th or  95.4ph  running since april or may.  I do not know hwo this guy is but I am certain  there are setups like this.

They are far ahead of the curve.
15890  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is mining gear efficiency a strong reason for difficulty increment? on: September 29, 2019, 02:03:34 PM
Worldwide mining is more and more industrial.

Worldwide power is about 2-5 cents a kwatts for good industrial rates.

So base  big farms  on 2-5 cent numbers.

Add in building
add in wires
add in internet.
add in  cooling
add in cost of gear.

say  that is 2 cents for big guys.

so  4-7 cents  is what you need to make on  your gear per kwatt.

there is always pressure to the 4-7 cent earning range.

And of course  on the other side  speculators traders ya da ya da ya da.

plus  less coins enter the market.

In  dec 2017  diff was 1.4 and coins were 20000    best gear = 100 watts a th
in sept 2019  diff is 12.7 and coins are 8000         best gear = 37 watts a th

If I am an established big miner

I have 1 new cost that would be new gear.

my building = done
my wires = done

so if I get 3 cent power on   the s17 pro  it cost   2.225 x 24 = 54 kwatts x 3 cent = 1.62 a day  it makes 53 x  0.00001920 = 0.0010176 btc or 8.24 -1.62 =

6.62 a day  this guy  drags  the profit down for anyone that can't match him.

his building is in place
his cooling is in place
his wires are setup.

If my small farm in clifton was all s17 pro  I would have 2.5ph vs 1.0ph.  I make money with  my 1.0ph  but I would make 2.5x  what I make now.

These whale farms drag price down.  At least my guess is that.
15891  Other / Meta / Re: How often do you send PM's? on: September 27, 2019, 07:29:59 PM
I get what most are saying about wanting to keep everything out in the open. I was mostly curious as to how often someone might try and clear up a disagreement or misunderstanding in PM before posting it. Even then I'm not saying that just because you tried to clear it up first doesn't mean you can't still proceed to post about it.
PMs are better regarding small grievances that can be easily resolved without much debate.
Topics should hold open discussion if external parties' influence is necessary (i.e. both are vehemently supporting opposing sides)
This was very well put, I found myself struggling to make with the good words for the explaining.

I agree that open discussion is nice in a thread about anything on topic. I don't even mind when you see 2 users go back and forth in a thread as long as it's relevant and still moving the topic forward. I've heard about some people not liking when they receive a PM, but I've never cared. It was kinda nice the first few times someone reached out for something, usually I could just direct them somewhere. Scammers have tried a few times, but it never really bothered me as I could just delete it and move on; similar to tagging and moving on in a thread.

I had to laugh in my haste I found myself not using the PM function and instead posting. It was a good reminder though to a benefit of the PM in that situation. Not everyone checks back to threads they've replied in. This isn't the same scenario but a similar situation where maybe the user wouldn't have seen the reply.
Or like a few hours ago when I PM'ed someone answering/clarifying something he pointed out in another thread (which doesn't fit the point of the thread).

Fuck that is a lot of pms.
If I had to guess I would say you have an entire page from me if not more. Some newbies are hard to teach. Good as time as any to say thanks again for all the help, and for replying to PM's.

Almost forgot. When I mentioned trust changes. For me specifically, it was letting a change to my trust list that affected a users position and my reasoning for that change. I have considered a PM for 1 or 2 users who I 99% want on my trust list, but that I disagree with only a few of their ratings. I haven't sent that PM yet or tried to engage in that discussion, mostly because I got busy this last while.

If there is a beef with me and someone I don't use pm's  I post in the open.

Yeah bitmain apw3 = good  97% maybe more still work.  1 dead one  and at least 40 good ones.

An my mine has a low voltage issue  we tend  to stay at 223-229 volts ,but the three phase  transformer does drop  down to 185-191 volts one or two times a month.  that is very hard on the gear.  Causes drop outs  but all my s9's and l3+ units come back on line when power comes up to 224.

I have been  looking into a solution  I found some volatge units that are good at the 3000 watts level.  got 4 of them  to protect the more expensive miners.

Running

an s17  2225 watts

an inno 39 2200 watts

an inno 50  3100 watts

and a t17     2100 watts   these buck boost regulators   are this one

https://www.amazon.com/Norstar-DAVR-5000110-transformer-Automatic-Regulator/dp/B07169Z3XX

and 3 of these

http://www.poshouse.com/item.asp?PID=37538&FID=1236&level=1

note I got a very good price on these units  well under 300 each.  they are far better built then the norstar davr-5000

I had more then four hundred pages of PMS sent to my main account. I have sent more then 375  pages of replies. Buysolar and I are driving back to howell nj from clifton nj or I would check to see the exact amounts .  Over the years I helped scores of newbires get started to mine .

Just got home and checked.
Why more then I realized.
They sent me 657 pages of input.
And it is 498 pages of replies.

13140 pms in

9600 pms out.

22740 pms over the last 7 years.
3200+ each year.
About 9 a day total in and out.

Fuck that is a lot of pms.

He mentioned these are used psu’s 1800 watt.

It could be last user beat on them harder then he does.

It they are three years old and were pushed for years they will show signs of age.
15895  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Newbie question about mining on: September 26, 2019, 12:40:07 AM
1st read the 1st time/small miner reference. That will answer a lot of basic questions.

re: "free power"
Do be aware that all large miners are both VERY HOT and LOUD. For all intents and purposes they are very large heaters that convert all power fed into them into heat out. Only difference is that yes, depending your exact circumstances they will be very loud and hot heaters that pay you more that the electric costs. (in your case free). Considering that most of the new big miners take in over 2kw and many over 3kw think of them as giant space heaters.  Can you deal with the heat?

As for sound: Earsplitting is a good way to put it. Some do have a lower power mode that cuts it down but still are loud. Think a loud blow dryer or vacuum cleaner loud.

If he could find a whatsminer m10 set to low speed it will use 1200-1300 watts and mine at 20th

20 x 0.00002 x 30  btc   is one month of mining. I guess about 100 to 120 usd.

It will be okay for noise not terrible.
15896  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: NovaBlock, The Most Profitable Mining Pool on: September 25, 2019, 06:49:39 PM
I stayed with viabtc  because  it offers other coins  ie LTC  I am mining LTC as I type along with btc.

I have

860th in clifton
114th scattered in state of washington local solar array and my garage  74th of that will go to cilfton thurs the 26th
28th  idle   will setup for clifton tommorrow

1.2 gh idle ltc will bring to clifton tommorroe
9.6 gh mining ltc in clifton

If I mine here I would make an extra 360 usd for the one month, but I would still need to run the other pools and I would need to reprogram 60 miners in clifton to move here.  It is not worth  360 to do it.  I offered the zero fee offer to 3 people.  All of whom declined it.  Who knows maybe one day I will mine here  but not for now.

I did not understand the essence of forex brokers before. But now my dad has become actively involved in this and I see that it is not in vain. Quick deposit and withdrawal of funds, which is very convenient. The main thing is to choose the [url = https : // paxforex . com ]forex  broker [ / url ] for yourself and study the necessary trades, constantly stay in this area and develop. To easily and quickly perform the necessary operations, much depends on your platform.

don't post links in my thread.

To op you are not stupid. You are untrained. You need to be in the altcoin section. As that software is all alt coin.

As for varied hashrates for different al-gore-rhythms (al invented the internet) yes that is a fact.  The different coins have multiple mining rates.  There is a lot of info on my gpu threads in altcoin section of the forum.
