15962  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICOX][EXCHANGE] Dappvestment - Introducing ICO X Anti Fraud/Scam ICO on: June 18, 2018, 08:52:44 PM
I think it is not easy to pull off a scam that is even more massive than Bitconnect. That scam has been insane. I remember how the price dropped like a rock within seconds towards zero.

I never said it was more massive than Bitconnect - the fact that the contribution tracker on their website has been stuck at 28% for weeks, and they are now coming out with a previously unmentioned airdrop suggests they are struggling to find suckers to throw away their money. All I said was that is is more obviously a scam than Bitconnect, and I stand by that statement.

BNB has pretty much single handedly been keeping my portfolio static for the last few weeks. It's like no one told it that we are in a bear market - it just keeps going up.
15964  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Media tries a little too hard to... on: June 18, 2018, 07:14:23 PM
The article is about a report that was commissioned by dozens of the world's biggest banks. Of course it's going to say Bitcoin is worthless/a scam/a ponzi/a bubble/whatever. They are protecting theiriwn self interests.

I can Google for 100 articles written by flat Earthers that say NASA is a scam. Doesn't make it true.
15965  Other / Archival / Re: My journey on bitcointalk. From newbie 0 merit to 260 merits on: June 18, 2018, 05:42:34 AM
This thread doesn't belong in Meta. Either Reputation or Off-topic would be better places for it.
15966  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Do you own a shitcoin? lol Find out. on: June 18, 2018, 05:35:03 AM
Seems like this thread, instead of talking and laughing about what should be a fun project, is just going to be people getting angry and shilling their bags.

A shame, really.
15967  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Get rewarded for holding this Eth based Token on: June 17, 2018, 07:27:55 PM
It doesn't make a difference if you earn through a dividend or just price increase. They're all the same at the end of the day. What matters is if there will actually be a real use for the token and a subsequent demand for it.

Absolutely this. I've read through their website and it seems this token serves no purpose whatsoever. It's full of complete nonsense statements like "SMART-PYRAMID SMART-MEME SMART-COIN". It seems like it was created solely for trading, and who in their right mind is going to trade a coin which makes them lose 10% of their stack with every trade? This is at best worthless, but more likely some convoluted scam attempt.
15968  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Simple Bitcoin Question on: June 17, 2018, 04:03:16 PM
Which streets are you hanging around on to hear such nonsense?
I agree that bitcoin and altcoins need to decouple, and more fiat pairings will achieve that, but bitcoin and bitcoin adoption is only becoming more commonplace and widespread.
15969  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETHEREUM CLASSIC HITS COINBASE.. what's next??? on: June 17, 2018, 09:40:27 AM
It might. Or it might dump as a lot of holders all sell at once.

Let's not forget what happened when Bitcoin Trash was listed on Coinbase - they were accused of insider trading, they froze all orders, the price dumped, and everyone was left bagholding it.
15970  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin and astrology !!! on: June 17, 2018, 09:35:08 AM
Astrology has been so completely debunked so many times it is not worth even discussing this nonsense. Please move this thread to Off-topic.
15971  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcoin Talk Promo Video on: June 17, 2018, 09:27:46 AM
I don't think we need any promotional videos to gather a large number of communities. We have a lot of members and still, we are facing difficulty in dealing with a substantial amount of spammer every day. If you are going to persist that kind of promotion make sure that the content is all about the discussion in bitcoin and not about earning a pennies just by spamming lol. Cheesy

I would agree with this. People that want to learn/discuss/talk about crypto will find this forum themselves. Mass advertising will only serve to bring in more spammers and shitposters who hear about bounties and want to make a quick buck.
15972  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware wallet 2.0 - Making them for the smartphones as a mobile case. on: June 17, 2018, 05:00:21 AM
Anybody seen with one (and you would be seen because it'd be on your phone) would be a prime target for robbery. The fact of the matter is if you're being held at gunpoint, it doesn't matter how secure the wallet you're holding is.

Relevant XKCD (Do I even need to link it? I'm sure you all know what it is before even clicking on it.)

Absolutely agree with RGBKey here. The implication of a hardware wallet is that you have a significant amount of crypto that you would be uncomfortable storing in a software wallet. Therefore, using this in public is just advertising yourself to thieves.
15973  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BitcoinCash exploits children to promote their shitcoin on: June 16, 2018, 08:07:18 PM
Bribing starving children with scraps of food to shamelessly parade themselves in front of a camera to promote some worthless altcoin.

People that truly want to help others do just that - they get on with it and help. They don't use suffering as a PR tool. This has to be a new low for crypto.
15974  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do u do with your Bitcoin forks? on: June 16, 2018, 07:56:56 PM
just be careful when sweeping or importing your private keys and always make sure to transfer your Bitcoin to a new generated Bitcoin address before doing it just for the safety your coins.

Yeah, this is really important. Most (all?) forks are just scammers trying to make some quick money by dumping their supply, but some forks are aimed at getting people to input their keys or seeds in to some phishing site so they can steal your coins.

15975  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware wallet 2.0 - Making them for the smartphones as a mobile case. on: June 16, 2018, 07:28:56 PM
Am I just missing the point here? I use hardware wallets for long-term storage of large amounts of crypto - the last thing I want is to be carrying them around with me and expose them to the risk of theft or loss. For transactions on the go, I can just store a small amount of crypto in a mobile wallet.
15976  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do u do with your Bitcoin forks? on: June 16, 2018, 07:14:36 PM
Claim them and sell them as soon as possible for more Bitcoin. There is no point holding any of these forks - all they do is fall in value. With the exception of one brief mega pump-and-dump of Bitcoin Trash, all these coins have only decreased from their initial value as people realise they are just a way for the creators to make some quick money.
15977  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Do you own a shitcoin? lol Find out. on: June 16, 2018, 07:08:42 PM
Lots of people seem to be taking this far too seriously. And lots of people seem a bit upset that they are holding shitcoins Grin
15978  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is resilient, ignore the Wall Street moguls on: June 16, 2018, 02:49:15 PM
Everyone will work to protect their own self-interests. Everyone from Warren Buffet saying crypto is a scam and old style investments are the only good option, to idiots shilling their heavy bags of shitcoins, everyone is selfishly trying to persuade you so they come out on top. Time to think for yourselves.
15979  Economy / Reputation / Re: Vod trolling me with red tag! on: June 15, 2018, 03:12:35 PM
In addition to "delusions of grandeur" and "querulous paranoia", I think we can safely add "anterograde amnesia" to the list of things digaran should be asking his doctor to test him for.
15980  Economy / Reputation / Re: Vod trolling me with red tag! on: June 14, 2018, 09:09:28 PM
Do you have a single shred of evidence of me being a scammer? are you going to base your accusation on trust feedbacks left on me by some ordinary people? you seem to put a lot of faith and trust into trust system, you are willingly blinding yourself to the truth, you want to believe whatever DT members say and do is the right thing to say and do, so much of a narrow minded individual you are.

I'll take that as a "no" to having any evidence then.

Here's the evidence you are a scammer: You tried to charge people for a service you couldn't provide. That's pretty much textbook scamming.
