15961  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Digital Currency Aims to Unite Every Money System on Earth on: September 17, 2014, 05:56:57 AM
it's not about the 'digital currency'. it's about the platform. stellar/ripple have really good tech, and is really useful for moving value on the internet.  here's a primer:  https://ripple.com/ripple_primer.pdf

both ripple and stellar (a ripple fork) is NOT about its built in currency. having only a small amount of that, like 100 XRP/STR is enough for an average user to last him a life time of transactions in using those platforms.
15962  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Chinese VC investor Charles Xue Weiboed: Bitcoin on: September 17, 2014, 05:35:00 AM
Hmmm no wonder ripple just took off past litecoin  in market cap.  been watching ripple accumulate market value the last week or two.

What are they planning to do with ripple???

probably they plan to use the platform.  as a platform, the tech is really good.  https://ripple.com/ripple_primer.pdf

15963  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: stellar going up on: September 17, 2014, 04:57:39 AM
Forget about stellar.Stellar is just a clone of ripple. Why people like Stellar than ripple?

because at ripple:  cool dev/founder got out, money grabbing spooks came in.

15967  Economy / Speculation / Re: when will btc be 1000 dollars again? on: September 17, 2014, 02:08:05 AM
think one second before answering. We all hope it will be 1000 next Month but how is this likely to happen? Let's take into account all possibilities... even the negative ones. We don't need to be pessimistic but even not stupidly optimistic. At present situation, is btc going to do a big rise again any time soon? Or is it likely to go down?

not likely.  it's gonna trend down lower.
15968  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The Best Digital Currency on: September 17, 2014, 02:03:59 AM
I think ripple will have something to say about it...

ripple is an excellent platform for crypto. but XRP being the best crypto-currency?  don't think so.
15969  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's going on with the "older" coins? on: September 17, 2014, 01:04:58 AM
Is it correct in assuming if you own nxt or dogeparty you also have a part of any asset issued through the respective protocols?

no.  you have to buy them with nxt or xdp.
15970  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency = Cults? on: September 16, 2014, 07:57:46 PM
I see three major cults.

1) Bitcoin
2) Dogecoin
3) Proof-of-Stake (most members are invested in all of these projects: NXT, NEM, BitsharesX, Qora, Crypti, NODE or at least in three out of six in various proportions)

Wanna-be cults, but not quite there yet:

a) Monero
b) and I guess that's it... feel free to propose your vision Smiley

the shibes are cool and nice tho.

15971  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CNN Mentions Bitcoin on their Twitter feed on: September 16, 2014, 07:40:16 PM
Bullish as fuck... that is all... lol

that chart says otherwise.
15972  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CNN Mentions Bitcoin on their Twitter feed on: September 16, 2014, 07:24:20 PM
CNN has been losing ground in the news world for years now so my guess is this is a desperate attempt to snag viewers out of bitcoinland and not much else. However, if doing so forces them to roll the BTC ticker in the faces of what's left of their audience then so be it. Grin

rofl.  doubt it.  'bitcoinland' ain't that big of an audience to snag.

and if they really wanted bitcoinland, they should make more than a cnn money ticker thing.  they could do a whole lot of 'news', articles and stories from bitcoin/crypto.

edit:  but if you're in cynical mode, it's more cos i think cnn is accumulating btc.
15973  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Dogeparty, Counterparty for the Dogecoin blockchain! (official) on: September 16, 2014, 07:16:38 PM
@wendell,

please fix wallet.dogeparty.io, it keeps syncing for 2+ days and doesn't show the right balance. It's not professional to keep it stuck like that for days.

this project has so much potential.  but i think their team could be biting off more than they can chew.  but i'm still hopeful.
15974  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Dogeparty, Counterparty for the Dogecoin blockchain! (official) on: September 16, 2014, 07:13:26 PM
strange why no one did it already for litecoin, which is probably the first idea which comes to mind. the second is DOGE, for sure

Litecoin and Peercoin communities - and developers - have done so little for their coins, I would not be surprised to see them both out of top 10 coin marketcap in near future.

imo, litecoin will stay, but i agree with peercoin.. namecoin's going down too i think.

I was not thinking in terms of LTC and PPC dropping from top 10 because their marketcap went down but marketcap of some other coins (a dozen actualy) might go up much.

wendell, please improve both communications and effort to educate the people, especially the dogecoin community. a whitepaper, faqs, write ups and videos would help a ton.

i noticed most in the dogecoin community don't really know anything about dogeparty.  time to change that.

With all due respect tokeweed, we'll do what we can, but I don't really think it is going to be part of our agenda to proselytize Dogecoin users for the time being. We are not doing this as a pump and have no expectation of gains from XDP. We have been pretty up front about the fact that Humint issued Dogeparty primarily because we needed it for a few projects which we are now steeped in developing.

That is to say, for the time being at least, we have our hands full. Porting all of the Counterparty tools to Dogecoin was, as predicted by everyone but me, not as trivial as it sounded. We simply don't have the resources to exert much more effort in this direction. If you guys want to see more activity around it, by all means make that happen. We will help you and promote your efforts in whatever way that you can.

Now, we are looking for more developers to help us with core stuff; if we can free up some cycles there it would give us more time to consider how we can make the big picture more accessible. If anyone here is interested, please take a look at our GitHub https://github.com/Dogeparty and get back to me.

point taken.  but there are well meaning people here that would like to help in their own way too.  a white paper about your project is not only necessary, but also very useful for a crypto-nerd like me who likes talking and educating people about crypto.

i am not demanding anything, but education is key.  that's all i'm saying.

There is 50% chance that the blackcoin market will go up, and 50% chance that it will go down.

50/50?  kinda like AK vs QQ pf right?  Cheesy

i'm sure you're used to playing for stacks with those odds, unless you're a different BrianM.  Cheesy
15980  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [VIA] ★ Viacoin ★ ~ the future of digital currency ~ ★ on: September 16, 2014, 01:51:05 AM
Everyone tweet btc38 we need new money flowing in!

this.  dogecoin/dogeparty could have the edge over viacoin/clearinghouse due to the simple fact that china has access to dogecoin but not to viacoin.  i think dogeparty is really underrated.

Doge anything is retarded.   VIA is on another level.

say what you want, but..

and doge is not the enemy.

Doesn't DOGE still plan for an unlimited number of coins? It means, the coin is highly inflationary. The market cap is huge because of the coin population.

not showing the market cap or value per coin.  it's the volume that matters.
