Just buy them all.

I'm not even going to lie, I LOVE testing new gear out. Because 95% of the time I don't like anyways or it doesn't work and I just return it after testing it.

Depends on how many watts your rigs are. if they're 6-700w sure. if they're >1kw draw each definitely not.
4 rigs @1100 watts each = 4400 watts

220v @ 30 amps = 6600 watts

80% of 6600 watts = 5280 watts

5280 > 4400, so I should be good, right?

Duh. I was looking at the previous post about 15 and 20A, missed your 30A pdu addition. So yep, you'd be good.

Report income? What's that?  Huh

Juuuuuust kidding.  Wink

I got the v1 D8P board.

In the other thread people were saying you guys are having RAM issues with these they don't like just your standard modules? I never ordered the brand everyone was suggesting, so guess if that's the case these won't get set up any time soon.

Looking to power (4) rigs in my basement.  Each one pulls about 1100 watts.  Already have ATX power supplies that will take 240v or 120v.  Was trying to figure out how to get enough 15 or 20 amp 120v circuits.  But, I think going 240v is the answer.

I read through this writeup - thanks philipma1957
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2192299.msg22020934#msg22020934

I would buy / install:

30a 240v circuit with L6-30R plug
PDU rated for 30 amps
appropriate power cords

I think I have just enough space on my service panel to do this.  Don't have room for more than two new breakers.

Is this a good plan?

Depends on how many watts your rigs are. if they're 6-700w sure. if they're >1kw draw each definitely not.

Either hire an electrician or wire it yourself if you know what you're doing. If you're going 220v and only have 2 breakers open you can only have 1 line - 220v is 2 hots and a ground so will take both those breaker slots.
Right, but 1 line at 220v with a PDU should easily power all that gear, right?

168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: A word of caution to fellow miners regarding selling on Amazon. on: January 09, 2018, 08:11:58 AM
Damn man that really blows - I have a side business selling a few high end items on Amazon and in the beginning I was doing the shipping myself and that A-Z bullshit they have really fucks us (the sellers) because I never won a single case from assholes like that. Since then I ship everything to Amazon and if there's a "missing item" or lost item dispute it falls on Amazon and not me. It's such bullshit and I took a few really heavy blows but that's the only way to get around it as a seller.

Best of luck man.

sweet jesus! how fast is your internet, and who's your provider?

also, where did you get the money for this, and how much was it?

You don't need fast internet for mining - I had a 3mb Time Warner line doing 10 1080 TI rigs with no latency issues at all. Now remoting into them... that's was a different issue
170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Process for adding multiple GPUs? on: January 09, 2018, 12:13:25 AM
Some people have luck plugging them all in but I always have issues, riser, cable whatever so I just do it 1 by 1, install, reboot. First one I install in the x16 slot then the next x16, then the next, then after all x16's are filled up I move to the first x1 or whatever slot.

@ citronick what's your opinion on moving a couple dozen from BTC into ETH

Thinking about diversifying my portfolio a little bit but not sure if I want to eat the fees or just keep it all BTC.

Currently, my Gemini account is 30% BTC, 30% ETH and 40% USD$
I have also Binance and Bittrex trading accounts... for about 12 more alts.
Diversity is key to growing wealth.

The Citronick System:

Every Monday - I see if BTC or ETH is high enough so that I can sell. If NO - do nothing.

Every Friday - I see if BTC or ETH  is low enough so that I can buy. If NO - do nothing.

At the moment, BTC dipped below 15,900$ support -- so I will buy.

ETH is strong at 1225$ ATH and the rally since weekend show a lot of accumulation --- so I will sell.

RINSE and REPEAT.

Well here's my other dilemma - I just don't feel safe depositing a lot of bitcoins in any exchange. I am already shitting bricks with just 3 BTC that I have in Poloniex. I probably wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I deposited 10% or 25% of my holdings with all the new tax and IRS bullshit going on I just feel I'm better off keeping it all off the books.

Just had really bad dealings with Paypal 10-15 years ago just as an example freezing 50k and didn't release for 6 months! Coinbase also stole around 100k from me and banned my account a few years ago. Not trying to deal with shit like that.

Pretty much just ranting at this point so I'll stop.

Side note I was able to scrape up 6 1070 TI's - 4 1080 TI FE's - 4 1080 TI Hybrids - and 4 1080's - never used 1080's but just said screw it why not. Slots need to be filled. Still on the hunt for more but I'm not trying to pay crazy reseller prices

Genesis Mining does all vertical so I dunno. those mother fuckers are killing it. can't say much else

And everyday noobs come here on the mining section saying they will invest thousands of dollars into mining, idiots. I hope they see your thread and forget mining, mining is a waste of time and there are far too many problems to deal with.

Just keep bumping the thread up Smiley

Make it a sticky.

Are there even any stickys on this forum? Do they even have mods here? lol

176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Afterburner settings : 1080ti and 1070ti on: January 08, 2018, 12:03:29 AM
I can't set my 70 Ti's that high on 200+ clock I get memory error issues every 30min or so and the miner restarts, sometimes with only 1-4 GPU's working till it gives me the error again or I taskkill and restart the miner. I'm stable now at 120+ Core and will work my way up to see when it happens, but I'm ok at 120 for now.
177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Happy New Years! Seventh alt coin thread! on: January 08, 2018, 12:00:18 AM
I'm getting super jelly, to use an old South Park phrase, seeing all this Onda porn. As soon I as I get mine (and find some GPUs for it - looks like everyone is out of everything once again) I'll use my current clamp meter to determine which of the wires on the molex, sata, cpu, etc. connectors are actually in use; I seem to recall that being a question back in the 6th altcoin thread.

that would be cool.

thought i read someone had found the sata and molex connectors only used the 12v and ground lines (he disconnected the others) but i cant remember what board, and he didnt mention the cpu/atx lines. be useful info to know if i change to a server psu with pico adapter for my b250 d8p v1 board.

Yes, I read the same thing which is why I thought it might be useful to find out just how much is being used by which connectors/wires. I will almost certainly be populating my Onda D1800 (this is the 8 port one with the "Untel Celery" CPU) with much less ambitious cards than our fearless OP; likely all RX 570 on one and all GTX 1060 (3GB) on the other.

been too lazy to test . I have new boards on Monday maybe I will.

I got my DHL make sure you're home Monday to sign notification last week as well... I'm giddy with anticipation. I'm sure you're not, but I've never played with these boards yet, so I'm super excited Phil Smiley

That miner life! I feel your pain man. But guess what, bet you'll never have that problem again! Smiley

I remember my old IT guy would always ask my guys when they had computer issues "Is the cord plugged in all the way? Ok, unplug it from both ends, then plug it back in." would be his first question. It was funny to us but I guess it's a real problem lol.

Can someone who has paid BTC for NewEgg purchases help me out possibly?

I just tried to do this for the first time but got stuck at this point:

- I want to pay from either my Bittrex wallet as I sold off a few alts in order to pay this invoice (I assume this is possible).

- After choosing Bitcoin payment option on NewEgg, the bitpay window pops up wit hteh QR code (on the scan tab) for a phone scan.  Since I want to pay with exchange wallet, I click on the Copy tab and the exact amount of BTC appears, along with a URL that starts with bitcoin... https//bitpay.com.... followed by a string of numbers that doesnt look long enough to be a BTC address.

- The instruction say to copy that full URL into your wallet's send screen, but I don't think this will work in the BTC address field send screen on Bittrex, will it?  Doesnt that need to be a standard BTC address only?

Am i missing something or can you not send payment from an exchange wallet like this?

Does Newegg accept BTC payments? Newegg.ca didn't give me this option during my last purchase last month

Yeah, newegg.com absolutely does.  I did a bit more reading and it seems likely that you need to open a bitpay account/wallet in order to use that option but any advice from Phil or others who have used it would still be appreciated.

cant help here  I dont pay newegg with btc.

This happen to me just last week when I tried to pay my January hosting bill at GND.
After talking to GND.... the solution was to install Bitpay app on your mobile (I use a Samsung Note 8 ).
I never did have to do that - looks like Bitpay changed their internal process and forcing everyone to use their app.
Fund your Bitpay wallet (treat it like a mobile wallet) and use their builtin QR scanner to pay.
Good luck.

Trying to pay Newegg from an exchange wallet has been VERY PROBLEMATICAL all along - the last couple months Bitpay has been having major issues even working with THEIR OWN SPECIFIED "works well" wallet options.

2 of my last 3 Newegg purchases have been BORKED BY BITPAY, the last one is still "in process" of resolution.

I'm about to change suppliers, if Bitpay RIPS ME OFF AGAIN ON REFUND of the current issue, as it was 100% CAUSED BY THEIR ISSUES I HAVE ALREADY NOTIFIED THEM OF AND THEY INSIST ON BLOWING OFF.

At this point, I don't trust "Bitpay" as far as I can throw them.
Newegg was a LOT better off before they switched to using this INCOMPETANT excuse for a payment processor.

Does anyone know if "Bitpay" is owned by Paypal?
 It would explain a TON.

Damn Quint that sucks bro - Last night I was just about to try to use some BTC to purchase but they are out of stock of every single nvidia card, so glad I didn't with the new horror story .

First extraction fan just went in - waiting on the roofer for 2 more of these bad boys to go in - 1100 CFM each - you want to talk about negative pressure producing - these are BEASTS.

The grey one is only 8" and 750 CFM, I'll probably use it to boost one of the passive intake vents
