Someone must know something about these cards.  newegg is sold out already. Undecided

Person may bought it with desperation after missing out on the RX 4 & 5 series cards.  lol
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: PCIe riser and GPU on single 6-Pin line? on: June 26, 2017, 11:01:49 PM
He is right I had all the main PSU powering the PCIe while server PSU power the 2 GPUs.  I notice the main PSU still draws under 400w even though it is powering the all the PCIe risers.

My setup is this
single 1080ti and all 4 PCIe risers on main that consume around 350w it should have been around 600w if those risers are doing highload work.
three 1080ti on the server PSU and the consumption peak around 700w.

another thing i found out if you don't connect the PCIe risers to server PSU.  its easy to turn on both PSU without timing.  you can turn on the server PSU first before main PSU. this leaves me thinking that the PCIe risers all it does power GPUs to connect and recognize while the PCIe 6 pin and 8 pin on the GPU gets use while on the load.

It says that each 1070 requires 150w that would be 900w and what about the power consumption of the other components? You don't wanna reach the max and blow out the psu with all your gpu's with it right? Yeah get those cables if you are planning to go forward with that psu but my recommendation is getting a 1200w minimum or two 750 if you can like link them together (not sure how you do that but I've seen people doing it) and get a platinum or gold efficiency. You don't wanna go cheap on the psu but buy expensive 1070.

The MSI Gaming model of the 1070 is reported to have a TDP of 230 watts (that is the only 1070 model with 2 power connectors that I am aware of).
The second 8 pin PCI-E power to them is NOT optional.

MANY 1070 cards have a TDP that is quite a bit higher than 150 watts.

Even though I never run my 1070s at higher than 150.  I have a 1070 starts 180w and still run them under 130w.

Hello I want to try 6 gtx 1070's ftw

I am using a EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G1 psu right now
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438019

I have two 1070 cards so far, each card takes 2 x 8 pin plugs. if I use one separate cable for each psu vga port to gpu I will only be able to run max 3 cards? Is there some other way to run them? is there a cable splitter that I can run 1 vga split to two 8 pin to gpu

my psu has

6- vga 8 pin ports

2- cpu 8 pin ports

3- sata 6 pin ports

2- perif 6 pin ports

2- cpu 6 pin ports

thanks

not sure if you can leave one free but it should be one 8-pin and extra as optional.  8-pin provides 150w each and the 1070 is 150w max unless you free electricity and unlimited warranty.  you should never run 1070s at 122% tdp 24/7 mining.  most miners run 1070s at 120w having 2nd 8-pin does nothing.

@Marvell1 Thanks, I feel safer knowing that.
@dbc23 I have no knowledge on trading, mining is a better option for me. If it goes wrong I still can sell the hardware and minimize losses.

Tbh i thought the same few months ago.  then i finally combine mining with trading to maximize profits.  mining alone isnt too good.

How are you guys finding these 1600w PSUs in stock?  I had to go with dual 1000w setup.  I put 3 1080ti per 1000w setup at 60% TDP.
