162  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: WTF Avalon? Ship the Chips! on: August 06, 2013, 02:47:57 AM
did you misspeak ?  Hard to believe that people who have been on here so long and witnessed countless scam after scam after scam and still you will send non refundable non traceable anon btc for things months away and think nothing might go wrong ?  It's one thing to say the risk was low and justify why you believed so but to say "nothing can go wrong" with sending 100,000s or even 1,000,000s just boggles my mind.  Then you get hero members scolding everyone "make sure you escrow". ROFL

I wrote "nothing can go wrong" compared to other things like miner production. Normally this should be clear... except one wants to find a reason to argue. And Avalon going scammy is not the first thing you think about when investing since nothing more had to be done than ordering more of the same chips in the foundry and ship them to the customer. So no, i did not speak about the potential risk that yifu decides to cut future gains only for a short term win. Would you do this really at his place?
I spoke about the things that have to happen until the chips are here. The chips are proven to work, there were many created before already and so Avalon knows quite good how long it takes to get them. There are no construction problems or similar at avalon. And TSMC is a real pro foundry, they will create when they say they will.

Let me say you this... i once invested in another bitcoin venture and it turned out very well. So well i live from it easily now. All your rants about the stupid people that use bitcoins instead paypal that can be charged back... its fine for me. Use paypal if you wish. But others might see the advantages in bitcoin and they might invest and win. Its not said that every investment will be the super win of course, thats how it goes. But that doesnt mean that i wont fight ok?

I'm not trolling or arguing with you but I'm sorry when you send BTC the number one concern should be will you get what you are paying for and if anyone it's hero members who should remind others about that.  If Avalon folds up will you be covering anyones loses since you state you are doing so well?  Probably not, so Avalon took a free ride on the back of your good reputation.  I see plenty of advantages in bitcoin but this deal is not an "investment" it's just buying mining gear much like people were buying video cards before.  I wish everyone luck but I think anyone who is talking about this like it's some sort of "investment" is way off.  Even you say "might win" and winning is for lotteries not investments.  ASICminer USB has been reduced in price by 75% already.  True fiat costs of these ASIC chips is very low and eventually the sales price for them must reach that low point where electricity will be 75%-90% of your bitcoin production costs because as long as electricity isn't higher they will be profitable to make sell and run.  That's a very long road ahead and there will be lots and lots of companies running with the BTC until the market gets there.  Be careful when "investing".

If we use your definition, buying shares of a company is not an investment.
163  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: August 06, 2013, 12:22:25 AM
If anyone had been there... They'd know that was taken out of context.  I was referring to the Oct delivery date and I'm not "cutting in line."  I just have my spot reserved from the time I contacted Dave.

That *is* cutting in line.
164  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: @Yifu/Bitsyncom please dont hold back the chip shipment because of b3 miners... on: August 05, 2013, 12:11:02 PM
Please stop flaming the group buyers. without them, there'd be absolutely no opportunity for entry-level investment

If you're against group buys.. go raise the cash to place your own complete order... and if.. in the likely chance that you can't... well.. there's always BFL... think your chances are better over there?

the group buyers gave us an opportunity, it was still always up to the individual to assess the risks of the chips being late or undelivered. And as has been said... it was a proven chip that's been produced before.. it had a definitive deadline... there were no signs that they were about to fall off the planet like this... there were issues with sample chip delivery.. but inevitably they still reached the developers who needed them... so things kept moving forward... willing to bet anyone claiming to have seen this coming would've been the same people complaining that they missed out on all the DIY Asic opportunities had all gone to plan.

/end rant
165  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: YES, you can get a REFUND from BFL on: August 05, 2013, 02:47:09 AM

IMHO, this is the bottom line:

BFL needs PayPal. If you want your money back, complain to PayPal and don't give up.

^^ THIS

BFL's power has come from its superior appearance to the new and upcoming miners, who don't know any better than to search google for mining hardware, and where do they end up? BFL. No legitimate manufacturer has a highly ranked pretty front-page taking small unit orders via credit card like BFL do.

Get their paypal account frozen, cut off the supply, kill the company.

At the start BFL may have received many bitcoin payments... but these days nobody who has bitcoin would send it to BFL, they're getting their money from paypal from newcomers hearing about bitcoin and want to have a punt at mining - who in turn are getting scammed and thus spreading a perception that bitcoin is a scam. Personally I don't care to get my money back - but I do care to kill BFL - they have to be stopped.

167  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy] Avalon ASIC Chips (SebastianJu) Batch 6 ordered (Closed) on: August 05, 2013, 12:23:59 AM
So then why does your update still list sensei having 0 chips?
168  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy] Avalon ASIC Chips (SebastianJu) Batch 6 ordered (Closed) on: August 05, 2013, 12:08:37 AM
So you know, the email info@top-info.org is controlled by me and i sent the shipping cost options to those buyers that have targets different from burnin. Let me know the type of shipment you want so i have more details and can calculate.

Can you PM me cost of shipping to sensei? (have you fixed that up yet? - as one of my targets is supposed to be sensei)
169  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: WTF Avalon? Ship the Chips! on: August 05, 2013, 12:01:47 AM
You all keep using BTC as a payment system you'll keep getting burned.  What kind of a brain deficiency does it take to send multiple 100K of non refundable, non traceable, anonymous crypto currency, and of all places to China and hope it will all be ok.
ROFL
BTC is a poor online payment system and especially so for anything delayed because eventually any operation will become if not an outright fraud then a basically a not what you ordered or when you wanted it since there will always come a point where 95% of BTC received is more profitable to fuck around with then the 5% profit margin of any business.

Why are you here then?
170  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] - GROUP BUY of BITFURY Chips + DRILLBIT SYSTEM mining assembly on: August 03, 2013, 02:41:00 AM
In good faith, I'll reserve 2 chips to start the ball rolling. (email sent)

Chips / Payment / Sender
2 / 0.48543689 / 13qhmF5E9Y1LokzcUxbuqLCmcqa4XnWkZt

You specified a conversion rate, but not the number of decimal places.
So I have assumed 8 digits, as is usually the bitcoin standard.

I formally request refund to occur automatically under the following circumstances:
- The group buy is not fulfilled in time for an October delivery
- It is November and assembly has not begun.

When/if this project shows signs of progressing I will increase my order.
If I find myself in Sydney I would like to take you up on the offer to meet up over lunch Smiley
171  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: August 03, 2013, 12:31:31 AM
I don't think they are purpousefuly delaying chips. I think it's just their incompetence that has been shown time and time again.

Perhaps, but what better than delaying 1st gen chips so that dissatisfied miners want/need 2nd gen chips. Although you can be 100% sure I won't be buying Avalon chips in the future.

Yes, Avalon has moved onto my DO NOT BUY FROM EVER AGAIN list right along with BFL...

Yup, Avalon chips are a thing of the past now

BFL = Criminals
Avalon = Unreliable
KnC = Use Extreme Caution (has been sighted in a photo with BFL Josh)
Bitfury = Too early to tell
ASICMiner = Expensive but Reliable

so right now, ASICMiner is the only safe supplier.. in my mind
172  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: August 02, 2013, 11:50:24 PM
Maybe I did not get the full gist your other post Dave, but it seems you saying that it will be 20 days until all boards (100TH, full kits, partial kits, and singles) for Aug. delivery are finished at the pcb house, correct?
Then you will be able to in 9 days fulfill and ship all these orders some 400 of each roughly? Color me impressed if you can actually achieve it. I guess I just thought you were slightly ahead of this timeline.

Please correct me if I have misunderstood somewhere.

Fab quotes 20 days for the full production process.  This process starts with sourcing components, building PCBs, making solder masks, setting up the assembly machines, then finally placing components and reflowing them.

So we are on that last step now...

OK so I think I was a bit off then. Smiley   Did they give you guys any expectations about how fast this last step will be then?

The fact Dave is happy to tell us about production phases, without even the slightest trace of 'covering my assness' - fills me with confidence - this is the one company that gives me a "good vibe"
173  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: WTF Avalon? Ship the Chips! on: August 02, 2013, 10:55:16 AM
It feels like every time I open my mail I find something like rates go up, mandatory health insurance goes up, new tax levies to pay, bank fees due, retirement funds lose money. And every time I read the news some CEO is being paid out, some politician creating outrageous laws or feeding off some charity fund.

I'm like many of you, I saw promise in bitcoin because I'd become so sick of constantly getting fucking screwed by bank and government
bitcoin created hope to escape.. now here we are, we're completely sick of constantly getting fucking screwed by asic manufacturers

they may as well be our government, as developing and manufacturing an asic is beyond the reach of an individual, it takes more than brains alone, it takes money and connections...

/end of rant #firstworldproblems
174  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: @Yifu/Bitsyncom please dont hold back the chip shipment because of b3 miners... on: August 02, 2013, 06:26:40 AM
zefir's second batch now is 15 weeks and 1 day old. Thats 5 weeks later than promised! And i found bfl's 100 days chip delivery funny...

My first batch is 12 weeks old tomorrow too. Not as bad as zefir's buyers but come on...

Chip delays are getting ridiculous. The fact that early orders haven't even shipped yet is puzzling. The items are already packaged even. It's becoming clear that they are artificially delaying the chips, but why?

All I can think of is the reseller theory.. A reseller gets the early batches.. the supplier holds back to help the reseller achieve margin - since there's no competition

But.. that would be idiotic.. so it can't be... I mean.. I can't think of any reason that actually benefits them at all, besides their own mining operations - but as a manufacturer they'll never have trouble keeping up with the difficulty anyway... and continued business is surely more profitable than mining?

I mean essentially.. they could've just shipped the chips and concreted themselves a reputation as the go-to guys, and people would've ordered crazy qty's from them even despite other ASIC's becoming more powerful, simply because of security/assurance. But instead, they've delayed and now they're thrown into the "don't buy from" basket along with so many others - the next ASIC company to ship will destroy Avalon permanently.

Not to jump in anyones shit but if you have millions of USD worth of late orders..skip the conference. FFS.

Surprised Josh showed up at the conference.  Thought someone might throw a creme pie, tomotoes, or obscenities at him at some point, but he just stood there in his white shirt with a stoic look on his face as if nothing happened.

Or an appropriately sized brick
177  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] - GROUP BUY of BITFURY Chips + DRILLBIT SYSTEM mining assembly on: August 02, 2013, 04:31:16 AM
So I just finished reading everything properly...

Have I correctly interpreted that a "DrillBit Thumb" is going to power 2 bitfury chips and cost approximately $100 USD?
And begin assembly in October... thus shipping around what.. November?
178  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: WTF Avalon? Ship the Chips! on: August 02, 2013, 03:25:38 AM
Avalon,

Don't BFL us bro!

Sincerely,
Troubled customer
179  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy] Avalon ASIC Chips (SebastianJu) Batch 6 ordered (Closed) on: August 01, 2013, 11:33:21 PM
Is that all batches? because I asked to have a few sent to sensei in batch2 but you list him as getting nothing...?
180  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] US/North American Bitfury sales now open ***full prototype pics*** on: August 01, 2013, 10:01:58 PM
Can anyone who's done it tell us what a manual CC transaction entails?

I'm an international customer - so I'd feel a lot better about a 24/7 automated system than potentially playing phone tag with someone from the states
