Gotta do your own research but I would recommend crypto currency reddit, 4chan biz section, crypto currency trader as some good
places to find news about any particular alt coin.
Honestly google is your best friend. If you really believe in a coin, youd have to research its white paper, and do technical analysis
on its price chart history

Thanks! This is helpful to me too.
165  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Google Authenticator or Authy on: October 15, 2017, 11:02:42 PM
Google Authenticator so my data is not on Authy servers

Authy can be a security risk IMO
166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best ICO for October on: October 14, 2017, 06:26:20 PM
I would say Notary Platform check it out in my signature.
167  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Decentralized or centralized exchange? on: October 14, 2017, 06:19:56 PM
None I guess

Not sure what will happen to our funds if OpenLedger goes down that is used by decentralized exchange BitShares.

In the case of centralized exchanges, you can read about Mt. Gox and BTC-e crack down.

I do have small amounts on exchange to buy stuff but I move it to cold storage even if it is small stuff. Hope this answers your questions.
168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SegWit2x seriously losing support? on: October 13, 2017, 09:55:25 PM
This is what happens when people go behind close doors on decentralized stuff.

All of sudden you want to control bitcoin? Chinese miners are unstoppable so good luck. I support the developers who been working on Bitcoin when no one even know it existed.
169  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Good time to get into crypto? on: October 13, 2017, 12:18:21 AM
Mining may not be profitable but getting into crypto is never too late I guess.
170  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello, looking for investment opportunity on: October 12, 2017, 11:56:36 PM
Stick to Bitcoin or Ether. I recently came across few good ones. One is EOS (1 year ICO) and Notary Platform (about 30 days ICO).
171  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Your scammed experience? on: October 12, 2017, 11:49:17 PM
I have seen many people get scammed by especially by google ads. Use ad-blocker with chrome like uBlock Origin. Scan your computer with two anti-virus or internet security suites . Use cold storage if possible. Stay away from exchanges (read about Mt Gox and BTC-e bust).

You can get started with how-to on coindesk dot com
172  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: An introduction to forks on: October 12, 2017, 11:40:19 PM
Thank you this is very helpful. If you could then please add how it affects Bitcoin price and how it is creating value for those who want to fork like BCH.
173  Other / Off-topic / Re: Hackers Exploiting Microsoft Servers to Mine Monero - Makes $63,000 In 3 Months on: October 12, 2017, 11:28:59 PM
This is interesting. I guess they choose Monero as it would require less resources vs BTC or ETH
174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: btcgold price? on: October 12, 2017, 11:05:15 PM
I think it will be less than $1000 and it will depend on which exchanges list it. But who does it serve and who even wants it?

Would you buy it if it is cheaper? Can it create it a value like bitcoin did or surpass it?
175  Economy / Exchanges / Re: BuyBitcoins.com - 50,000 bitcoins for sale at 15 BTC/USD on: October 12, 2017, 10:42:23 PM
Damn I first thought it is a spam then i saw the date! There is no going back now and I didn't even know about bitcoin until recently.

This raises the question how did you guys heard about it back then!?!
176  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Easiest Step-by-Step Guide on: October 12, 2017, 10:37:50 PM
Guide looks legit. You can also use shapeshift.io to exchange tokens instead of exchange.
177  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SCAMMED BY WALLETEXPRESS.NET on: October 12, 2017, 10:32:54 PM
I am sorry for your loss.

Use simple ad-block. With chrome you can you use uBlock but make sure to white list Bitcointalk. Google has infected so many people's computers with malware etc by advertising malicious ads. So many people land on scam websites just because they don't see small ad in the first links by google. never click them or get rid of by them trusted ad blocker.
178  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to sweep a paper wallet into an Electrum wallet using a cold storage setup on: October 12, 2017, 10:28:26 PM
Yes, follow the process described above and then move ALL the funds from paper wallet to wallet created by Electrum.
179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What if another altcoin surpasses BTC in value? on: October 12, 2017, 03:30:19 AM
Not gonna happen over night and people will see it coming if it is going to happen. Yeah you should diversify if not already.
180  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The first platform support Segwit2x fork on: October 12, 2017, 03:26:59 AM
This is going to be interesting. In the end if there is no EAD like they have it for BCH then either BTC legacy or new BTC will survive but not both. I think in that time frame the price of bitcoin will fluctuate a lot. Good luck
