The EVGA 1600w T2. I don't think there are any power supplys in the 1200-1400 range (By EVGA or Corsair) that reach the Titanium rating. There are some other ones (Thermaltake comes to mind) but if you read the reviews, you'll forget them as even an option.
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining rig GPU hardware recommendations please? on: February 20, 2018, 09:18:43 PM
Definetly better then any 1200 though. You never want to use more then 85% of the rated power or the efficiency starts swirling down the drain.
163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining rig GPU hardware recommendations please? on: February 20, 2018, 09:16:55 PM
The EVGA has a little more power, but only has 9 VGA ports vs 10 vga/cpu ports, (that the ax1500i has) and more importantly, the sata/perf section of the Corsair supplies 180w (should do 2 or 3 risers depending on voltage) but the EVGA only has 120w in that section (even 2 risers could be pushing it if you have anything else hooked up in there or if the cards are higher powered)

Yeah, I just researched this yesterday. The Corsair Ax1200i is the better deal down the road. It's more efficient, folks say the power delivery is more precise, if you were to want to tune in power levels the software has more options, and here's the dealmaker for me:The AX has 8 VGA ports, while the HX only has 6. When your trying to figure out where to plug in the last couple risers you'll be really happy you have those. It looks like the 1070 is more profitable then the 1070i, but I'm not really the person to give more advice on those two specific brand models. A handy tool even if you don't mine there is the Nicehash profitability calculator. Instead of getting caught up too much on exact numbers (Unless your going to mine there), I like to use it just to compare profitability between different cards. (ie: hey this one uses less power and makes an extra 20 cents a day!)

My take on the power supplies is that 2 years down the road a used server psu will have little value, where a premium titanium unit will. And over those 2 years, it may not totally pay for itself, but it will offset the price difference between the two, and at the end of the day you end up with something you are able to resell. I look at it like a store of value. Kinda like a nice GPU in that sense, and if you DID end up using it for the whole 10 years of the warranty period, then you will of saved money on electric. Also, when your electric costs are lower (titanium psu's, 220v circuits, eventually some grid tie solar panels, etc) Then the profitability of your GPUs, or ASICS, is insulated from becoming unprofitable for longer, saving you money down the road. Also, I had a cheap-o 1200w power supply that damaged a miner, and I thought the miner just died, so I hooked it up to another one, and fried that one too. After that I vowed to never skimp in the power supply department. Alot of this may just come down to personal preference, but thats just my 2 satoshis.

Given the current air travel environment, wouldn't baggage charges reduce the chance for any profit?
Road trip!
167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1070's or 1080ti's? on: February 20, 2018, 05:47:55 PM
Several AIB 1070s require 8+6 or 8+8 VGA connectors.  So if you're looking for single 8-pin cards, do your due diligence and research and make sure the 1070 you're buying only has a single 8-pin.
Yeah, the ones I was looking at use the 8 pin and 6 pin, but from what other more experienced folks tell me, as long as it's not over 150w going thru the cable (the riser can do up to 75 of the total for the card) that you can use one of the modular plug cables that have the 8 pin, with 6 pin branched off (so you don't have to waste more then one VGA plug on the psu per card). Good call, I should of been more specific.
168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: hotel mining on: February 20, 2018, 05:27:38 PM
Here's my twist on this quite imaginative idea. So you use an 8 GPU rig that is approaching not being profitable(if you had to pay for power). Instead of staying at hotels/motels stay at Airbnb houses. Message the owner before renting their place to confirm the internet is good, and wired, and tell them "I need the internet for work, it is critical that it works, or I will be forced to find a new place. I build custom computers for people. I have a system I built that I will need to do testing on. I also need to confirm that there will be a spot to plug in my system near where the internet is located. Thanks." Then your not stealing anything. Also, usually nobody comes into your Airbnb for the week so there shouldn't be random maids running about the place, and you should be able to just lock your doors and not worry.
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 1070's or 1080ti's? on: February 20, 2018, 04:56:59 PM
I'm looking at building a second rig at the moment. The first one I built is with 1080ti's, but from what I'm seeing it looks like the best at the moment is the 1070. Looks to make as much or more the nhe 1070ti for less money. It looks like each one can be powered by one VGA cable to the power supply, where the 1080ti's I have require 2 8 pin plugs, which costs more for power supplys, and then the plug to mate the power supplys together etc. Looks like a Corsair or EVGA 1600 watt power supply will do 8 1070s, @150 watts apiece, which is nice and easy from my point of view. I'm going to get one of the 12 card motherboards, and do 8 1070's, then maybe (eventually) get a second power supply (1200 watt) to power 4 AMD cards on the same motherboard. Good luck to you!
170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New merit give away thread. For alt coin mining. on: February 20, 2018, 04:41:43 PM
Here's one I just contributed to this morning: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2985340.0
What a great idea to distribute merit. I tried to give one out the other day, which I thought I'd be able to because I got one, but I guess it doesn't work that way, so it's great that someone with the ability is actually doing something to help people with newer accounts. Thank you!
171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining rig GPU hardware recommendations please? on: February 20, 2018, 02:38:51 PM
Hi there. I'm sure there are more experienced people here, but here's a few things I learned first with Asics, then building my first rig and scopeing out the parts for the second one. For the power supplies, I like the Titanium ones the most. I know they're expensive, but they save 2-4% on the electric bill. You want to use no more then 80% of their capacity for the best efficiency, so I'd go with either The Corsair 1500i, or new 1600i (They have the most VGA ports) or you could go with the EVGA 1600w t2, it's a fine power supply also. Watch every day at multiple websites and you should be able to get one of those for $400, but they will sell out quick. The great thing is, you can turn around and sell them on Ebay used for $500, and both brands have a 10 year warranty, so they should serve you through a few builds. For the video cards, my only suggestions are that cards that can be powered by one VGA cable are easier to deal with, and the brands to look for are EVGA, Asus, MSI, and Zotac. For risers, the ones that have 3 power inputs are the ones to look for, because you will want to power some with the 6 pin, and others with the Molex (don't use the Sata connector) Also get the ribbon cable riser cable for the big VGA port on the motherboard, this ones like a bonus because you don't have to power a riser. For suppliers, Amazon as you mentioned, Newegg (They accept payment in BTC), or Ebay (Great for finding that 5th and 6th card for your rig that matches the first four) Keep your mind open on buying parts though, you never know who may have a great deal. I've seen Titanium power supplies at great prices from Bestbuy, OfficeMax, and others as well. Hope this was helpful, and good luck to you!
172  Economy / Services / Re: Need help setting up your mine? on: February 20, 2018, 03:24:45 AM
As a matter of fact, I do. I run an Innosillicon A4 Dominator. It's been a great miner for me. I rent it out for a pretty good rate sometimes, at Mining Rig Rentals (I have a perfect score so I have the price jacked up high, but it still gets rented out about 25% of the time)  and the rest of the time lately it's been pointed at Nicehash, as it seems to make more there then at a Litecoin pool for some reason. I'd like to grab one of those A4+ at some point to replace it, but I can't complain, it's been a consistent earner.
173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Question on GPU rig build on: February 20, 2018, 03:16:05 AM
Great, the MSI 1070 card I'm looking at is 150w apiece so they'll be fine with one cable each, and with one of those 1600w Corsair power supplies with 10 vga ports I can use 8 of them for those cards and call it George. Sweet.
174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Question on GPU rig build on: February 20, 2018, 12:29:31 AM
Hello. Was wondering something, perhaps someone can answer my question. So, on Nvidia 1070 cards I've seen, there is a plug with 6 pins and one with 8 pins. The plugs from a nice modular power supply (Corsair or EVGA) have an 8 pin and a 6 pin branched off on the end of the cable. Can just one cable power one 1070 using the 8, and 6 pin connector from one modular cable? Or does each card have to eat up 2 of the modular plugs on the power supply side (and use 2 seperate cables)? Thank you for the help, I appreciate it!
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: DeepOnion mining pools on: February 14, 2018, 08:43:42 PM
The Baikal Giant+ is the top miner for X13. Unfortunately, they go for $3000 on Ebay, and there's usually only one up there at any given time, and it's usually in Hungry, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brazil, etc. They mine about 3 Onions a day, so it might be a better idea to buy Onions rather then the miner, unless you want to mine other stuff too, or after your done accumulating Onions. It is a good miner overall, and the value has only increased in time.
176  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: DragonMint 16TH/S halongmining.com on: February 07, 2018, 03:08:52 PM
I've got my popcorn out, anxiously watching to see if anyone actually gets their miners. It wouldn't be the first time a miner manufacturer acted...well weird. If they are real, what a shakeup to the industry. I'll take 3 please. (You go first tho!) Seriously, though, you would think there would be some Youtube videos out there with a test model running. They'd definetly sell more that way, but maybe they already sold more then they're comfortable with. All we can do is watch and wait I guess.
177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING DeepOnion is a SCAM, proof inside! on: February 03, 2018, 04:11:11 PM
May be it's a scam, may be not. Too early to make an evaluation.
But I'm very sorry I didn't partecipate to its airdrop this summer...

You are all mostly brain damaged little retards.. hoping for free "coins".
Too early to tell dumb fucking pajeets ? LOL

Know what makes a scam a fucking scam ?

HOW IT WORKS.

I hope you stupid fucking losers get decimated financially.. you deserve it for being immoral and / or idiots.

PS:
Did it occur to you stupid morons out there why Satoshi did not *PREMINE* 80 million coins then stake them ?

Did he make fraudulent claims and hire scammers to do "tasks" and orchestrate puppet accounts ?

You stupid fucking losers think anything is legit.. *if you make money off it.
I cut my damn cock off with a rusty saw before i had *ANYTHING* to do with crypto now.
ALL OF YOU.. are scammy assholes noobs and retards.

This was a joke in 2013.
Now ? It's lower than lower than low.
It's inception faggotry to epic levels.
It's a vortex are scammy ass greedy faggorty where anything goes.
As long as the crowd of dipshits piling in keep pushing the pyramid scheme coins price higher and higher.

I'm not making this shit up either.. all you have to do is look at this topic.
You will see precisely what i just said.
Idiots.
Many of these *NOOBS* said they make a small profit so it can't be scam.
The one lead scammy dickhead who i suspect is a lead dev or something with the scam coin created a topic proclaiming it was a success and the nay sayers were put in their place..
Why ?
Because he said the fucking price went up  Cheesy

By the way i still find it hard to believe that *TORCOIN* was -exposed- as a scam and then how exactly at the same time this coin was launched with the same damn bullshit claims.
Coincidence ? I think fucking not.

Scam or not who gives a fuck you are all losers and deserve what ever you get.. suffer pricks.  Grin
You ARE pajeets because you rolled in creating a million (literally) accounts then spouted off about shit you don't know about (crypto) so you could make dust by shitting in the street.
You all collectively took a fat shit all over crypto and the result is country after country banning this shit.

..and more to come Wink

You are just a bunch of stupid little brats.
This guy called everyone a bunch of names, so we should definetly take advice from him. He seems like a very nice, understanding, guy who cares about the plight of his fellow man.
178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: NiceHash hacked? on: February 01, 2018, 04:03:26 PM
Yeah, I'm not really happy with 10%, but it is better then nothing (for now). I have most of my miners pointed elsewhere after the hack, except the algo switching ones which I have set to mine there if prices are up, and to failover to other pools when they are down. If they had given me the whole amount owed, I'd of bought a Nicehash shirt (and a new GPU to be pointed there). I'm reserving judgement at the moment, but definetly not feeling too happy or loyal at the moment.

Hi there,

What's the advantage over the S9?  The Avalon 821 is slower, around the same power consumption/TH, and is quiet a bit more expensive than the S9 even when you factor in a 2-3 week earlier ship date.

Can someone fill me in?  Thanks!
Also for me, I can fit 2 1200 watt units on each circuit in my shop but 2 S9's would use too much power to be on the same circuit. That could  be a major consideration for some people. Also (with the 741's anyways) they are quieter, put off less heat, are extremely reliable, and hash above what they are rated at (My 741 hashes at 7.7, but is rated for 7.3). Pure speed isn't always the only thing that is important.
180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The great Lightning scam on: January 26, 2018, 11:59:59 PM
Note how the mods buried this by moving it to alt coin

Lol

Another reason to call BTC SHITcoin
Well people started talking about coins other then Bitcoin, so what do you expect? You seem disappointed that people might miss reading your negative views. If you don't like Bitcoin it shouldn't matter to you. I don't like Papa Johns. So I don't go there. I could care less about finding foodie forums and talking bad about the place. It really doesn't matter to me. I just choose someplace else to get my pizza. If other people like it, that's great for them. Me, I'm more of a NY style pizza fan, so that's what I buy. I suggest you go invest in some Bcash if it makes you happy.
