161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin a Scam - No more on: May 16, 2018, 03:39:07 PM
#consensus2018

The narrative has changed. It used to be “Is Bitcoin a scam?” now it’s “ how high do you think the price will go”.
Institutional money is on its way people.

Matthew Goetz from 'Block Tower Capital' stated in front of a capacity crowd at Consensus;
"Bitcoin to 60k in 2018"

Goldman Sachs are already well and truly in the space.

I'm not excited to be hearing only about the price of bitcoin either. I would love to see people discussing how bitcoin and blockchain can help decentralize current obsolete industries
162  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin ATMs on: May 15, 2018, 12:22:08 PM
How do botcoin ATMs work?

I don't know about botcoin, but bitcoin ATMs let you put your cash in it and deposit funds into your bitcoin online wallet, depending on which wallet service they cooperate with. It's easy and straightforward process
163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚛️ [ANN] Bitcoin Atom - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Atomic Swap Powered ⚛️ on: May 15, 2018, 12:20:54 PM
Guys, I'd like to join the project and buy some BCA, is the project alive?

it is more than alive. YOu can also check their github, constant activity can be tracked there Smiley you will find many doubters, but same goes for bitcoin and ethereum, don't you worry about it

Being alive would not mean that it will survive in the future.
Most of bitcoin forks are close to die.
Is Bitcoin Atom just another fork, or having something new?

I agree, so sad that every fork ends and ends very quickly, I don't know why it's not supported more from people.
Idk what you ppl are talking about.... BCA is well alive. go to telegram chat and check there.
https://t.me/bitcoinatom

also the price is showing the momentum as it has been growing recently from below $1 to almost $2. I guess it's caused by fomo as GUI AS wallet launch should be very near
164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why so many Bitcoin users have fear of governments? on: May 14, 2018, 09:36:56 AM
I can't escape to notice that many users here on forum have terrible rebbelious fear of governments. Like government is some evil devil that will destroy Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. But is this realy so, do such claims have any reasonable ground at all?

To my opinion the cause for something like that is again ignorance. I think that regulation that is mentioned in many countries is often mixed with centralization which is something that is not natural to Bitcoin because it's functioning totaly different than fiat currencies. Also some warnings to people that Bitcoin is volatile and risky investment that come from national banks are often interpretated as hostile behaviour towards Bitcoin and attempts to make people not to use it.

Is there any hope that Bitcoin users and governments will find the common language and help Bitcoin together to be more accepted in economy, especialy by businesses and to become more "legal" everywhere?

exactly. Some users are from the countries where you need to fear the governments for obvious reasons and the tendency is to ban everything that makes sense for the economy.
165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin is the vehicle, we run it on: May 14, 2018, 09:36:00 AM
A lot of posts are about bitcoin (eg bitcoin for illegal transactions ... bitcoins change lives ... bitcoin destroys the world ... bitcoin poison and so on) but basically it's all humans that move .. bitcoin is the tool. Good bad how the tool is how the man who runs. is it worth blaming bitcoin. What is your opinion?

exactly. cash is also allowed and it's up to individuals how we use it. It's not only how we use it but also how the community shapes the technology for the years to come
166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Meta Mask wallet security on: May 14, 2018, 09:34:21 AM
I use Meta Mask wallet. But I wonder, is it possibble to be attacted by hackers any way? My MEW wallet was stolen, that's why this question is problem for me.

your new couldn't be stolen on its own. mew only gives you access to your address by using the private key. So you had to give away your private key in order to get hacked
167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: High school dropout who invested in bitcoin is now a millionaire at 18 on: May 14, 2018, 09:29:51 AM
these are the get rich stories that attract all those noobs that want to wake up tomorrow also seeing millions on their bank accounts. While it's nice to see that, also kind of annoying
168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you still support Ethereum? on: May 13, 2018, 05:34:20 PM
I can't name any other coin/token, which failed more times than ETH. It's not about loving or hating it, it's all about people losing money, because of situations which can be avoided. I would care less if these ETH based projects were not asking money from the masses, but that's not the case. And believe me when I'm saying that Ethereum has some powerful lobbyists. Otherwise its price would be probably 1/5 from the current one.

Didn't we had enough of this?

I don't understand what you mean. How did the Eth fail? How they failed more than any other projects? It's a network that is actually being used by people, comparing to majority of projects that never even kicked off...
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best airdrops May 2018 on: May 13, 2018, 05:33:14 PM
good luck with the airdrops. Usually they're absolutely useless, but if you're lucky you can make some serious money thakns to free coin, I guess it's worth some efforts and research.
170  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sudden Price Drop! What's going on with the Market? on: May 11, 2018, 11:57:00 AM
Few days back I was this close to buying BTC when it was around 10k, but halted for some reasons. Now I see the price is around 8.6k and I wonder why the sudden downwards trend! I see no major news out there (or maybe the statements of mr. buffet and gates?). What could be the reason and how dip the price can go?

it's always like that, 10% price fall is just daily routine in crypto world, that is so volatile and therefore vulnerable to fud. I doubt you will find more simple minded unexperienced investors elsewhere than in crypto
171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Huge potential earnings in bitcoin, still not interesting for others on: May 11, 2018, 11:55:21 AM
As i began my journey through the world of cryptocurrency, it comes to my mind why other people are just ignoring the opportunities that bitcoin gives..

Can you give me some reasons why it's not that interesting for others?

bitcoin has been around just for few years while fiat money has been here since ages. You need to give time to people to get used to the idea of cryptocurrencies and learn how to use them.
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin in 2017, but 2018 is the year of Ethereum on: May 10, 2018, 09:14:47 AM
The Crypto correction of early 2018 saw Bitcoin fall a bit from its pedestal of nearly $20,000, yet this year Ethereum’s sharding progress show dApps will solve major scaling hurdles this year, and by default then, 2018 is the year of Ethereum.

If Bitcoin is like crypto gold, a choice digital asset, crypto is moving ever closer to utility coin and smart contact transactions which means Ethereum is the crypto platinum.

Ethereum, the second-largest by market value, was up 2.5 percent over the past 24 hours at $933.24. However in spite of Ethereum being at forefront of the smart contract movement for blockchain smart contract platforms, its founder also has some ideals.

When Ethereum founder Vitalik Buterin tweeted recently that he’s boycotting this year’s Consensus conference after CoinDesk since CoinDesk has been linked to fraudulent projects, it shows (unlike Coinbase) that some of the young people at the forefront of Crypto still have ethics and ideals that young decentralization advocates can relate to.

Sharding Could Remove Blockchain’s Speed Bottleneck
Bitcoin is limited to ~3–7 transactions per second, Ethereum to 7–15, but not forever. The sharding proof of concept means the blockchain is starting to evolve faster and the scalability bandwidth issues could be solved before 2020.

Ethereum
Some call “sharding” the biggest breakthrough since the invention of smart contracts. You can read the proof of concept here. Different kinds of levels of nodes can improve efficiency.

Ethereum sharding chain cross-linking.
It doesn’t really matter what the price of these things are, it matters what the blockchain becomes.

The primary goal of implementing sharding is massive scalability improvement.
Bitcoin is the DOS, Ethereum is the Windows
If Bitcoin is the “DOS” of blockchain, Ethereum could be the “windows OS”. There’s some chance that Ethereum fails as a first-mover smart contract platform and another one succeeds that’s more technically sound, scalable and secure. It’s too soon to say which one might rival Ethereum, but there is some competition.

Blockchain has meant that thousands of new companies are sprouting up with highly innovative business models and even ICOs being regulated and facing rating systems, ICOs are still doing well in 2018 compared to 2017. While Bitcoin and crypto investing has been systematically suppressed by states, criticized by bankers investors, crypto has become in 2018 entirely a mainstream proposition.

Bitcoin is the Yin, Ethereum is the Yang
If Blockchain is the yin, the negative potential of what blockchain could become, Ethereum is the yang, the positive development of smart contracts that could change fundamentally how the web works and how transactions and trust evolve.

Ethereum sees itself as a global infrastructure computing paradigm that’s open-source, decentralized and can build on a trust that could prevent fraud, censorship or third-party interference.

It’s hard to imagine Ethereum’s price not ending 2018 on an all-time high given the important work it is doing. In early January Ethereum hit an all-time high price of $1,417.38, before dropping to well below half that price in the Bitcoin correction (not a bubble).

Sharding will likely evolve from very simple levels of parallelization, to then gradually be developed until Visa levels scaling. VisaNet handles an average of 150 million transactions every day and is capable of handling more than 24,000 transactions per second.

“Visa-scale transaction levels” or beyond may be necessary for Ethereum as the crypto platinum to reach its full potential and impact the lives of global citizens at large. In time it takes for this to occur, most central banks will have created converted their fiat money systems to fiat-blockchain digital money. While Japan enjoys features of Bitcoin transactions that is offered in retail and services there at an accelerating rate, Ethereum as a dominant smart contract platform would be much more transformative globally.

ethereum are proving they work hard in order to sort scaling issues. Once it's sorted, they will be stronger than ever, which should be highly reflected on prices and market cap
173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Research: 14% of young Japanese people invest in cryptocurrencies on: May 10, 2018, 09:13:58 AM
very good! this is what happens when proper regulation is set and people are confident enough to invest in crypto. Now just let's wait for other countries to do the same so the price of bitcoin can grow Smiley
174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: paging bulls on: May 09, 2018, 11:10:13 AM
Having hit seven-day lows below $9,000 this morning, bitcoin (BTC) is looking decidedly weak.

The cryptocurrency fell to $8,980 on Bitfinex a few hours ago and was last seen changing hands at $9,080 - down 1.13 percent from the previous day's close (as per UTC) of $9,184.

The downwards move does not come as a surprise, however, with the bear flag breakdown witnessed yesterday opening the doors for a fall to $8,865.

Now, unless the bulls can make a defense of support at $9,055 (seen in chart below), the cryptocurrency risks once more falling below $8,000.

it's fascinating to see these analysis changing every day, people claiming one thing then immediately another. I guess it's very hard to do day trading, I'm so glad I'm not involved in that hassle Smiley
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⚛️ [ANN] Bitcoin Atom - Fork 1:1 of Bitcoin - Atomic Swap Powered ⚛️ on: May 04, 2018, 08:04:00 AM
Bitcoin Atom [BCA] got listed on Stocks.Exchange!

stocks.exchange/trade/BCA/BTC

Great news! I've been using stocks exchange seamlessly since few months now, good choice Smiley
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Trading by technical analysis or just intuition? on: April 22, 2018, 12:13:15 PM
In such a bearish market, are you making your trading moves by technical analysis or just follow your heart and believe some coin will start to bounce back hardly or something else?

seems it's turning to bullish market again Smiley I usually just invest in long term so I don't have to be too anxious looking at charts and biting my nails on price dips. It's more relaxing this way Smiley
177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH worth buying now or wait? on: April 22, 2018, 12:12:16 PM
I have been waiting to buy ETH for last 6 months. Is it good time to buy ETH or shall I wait more?

you should have bought when it fell deep. Now it's growing and it's very likely to keep growing for long time, perhaps reaching its new peaks after the end of 2017.
178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH next to BTC? on: April 22, 2018, 12:11:23 PM
I just created this thread to gather opinions ..
Ethereum is next to BTC?

I'm not sure what you mean, but ethereum is getting closer to bitcoin, which is only natural in my opinion. Bitcoin is great though and is here to stay no matter what
179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Maybe I give up earning money from ICO on: April 22, 2018, 12:10:36 PM
I know I have responsibility for my money. It's my choice and I don't hate anybody, I just hate myself

if you can't take loss, you should forget about investing in ICOs. Also depends on how good research you're able to make. I invested in some ICOs and am expecting to see the long term outcome...
180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin dominance is it the END ? on: April 22, 2018, 12:09:40 PM
https://prnt.sc/j8ij29
as we can see the bitcoin dominance is getting lower and lower and  i think on long term ethereum will end the dominance

I agree with you. It can be either ethereum or possibly some other network, the time will tell. But Bitcoin will always has its value as the first ever cyrptocurrency at all Smiley
