161  Economy / Trading Discussion / Buying on 1 exchange and selling on another on: December 15, 2013, 03:10:57 PM
Hi I have a quick question,

Will you ever make much profit from buying bitcoin on 1 exchange and selling on another. I wouldn't want to be selling on Mt Gox as I understand there has been problems with USD withdrawls.

Thankyou for your help

What do you think of bex.io
164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Setting up a Crypto Currency Exchange on: December 15, 2013, 12:39:09 AM
If we were to have our own exchange it could be (maybe I'm too hopeful) a turning point in the exchange of alt coins and crypto currencies.
165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Setting up a Crypto Currency Exchange on: December 15, 2013, 12:35:27 AM
You'll have one in about 2 months Smiley

Thanks for the optimism.

I have found bex.io. Does it look dodgy to you or does it look ok?

We need a decentralized exchange, the question is how could it work?

Exactly
167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Setting up a Crypto Currency Exchange on: December 14, 2013, 11:51:34 PM
It would be much easier to act as gateway to (and maybe from) Ripple and make markets in there yourself than to code a whole exchange. Take a look at DividendRippler for inspiration. This would give your customers access (if you make a market or find people who make them for you) to even cashing out USD or buying your beloved DOGEcoins with BTC. So wow!

Thanks very much.
168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Setting up a Crypto Currency Exchange on: December 14, 2013, 11:17:30 PM
the real question is what is it going to cost?

That is another question!
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Setting up a Crypto Currency Exchange on: December 14, 2013, 11:02:43 PM
I don't want to sound stupid, but how doable do you think would this be?

Setting up a crypto currency exchange platform like bter or bitstamp or btc-e. The main different would be that it uses a lot more currencies to appeal to a lot more people as I have heard people wanting currency exchanges on different websites eg. Dogecoin

What do you think?
How difficult would it be? Would it be doable?

Thanks

Do I buy it now or wait for the price to drop a little?

I'm thinking of buying now...it was around $41 but now it's at $29... I'm pretty sure it'll at least go back to $41 sometime soon. Mt. Gox is about to open up their platform for people to trade LTC too. And I'm sure Coinbase will open up their service for Litecoin too, maybe not soon but definitely sometime since the creator of Litecoin works at Coinbase. I can exchange one bitcoin for a bunch of LTC right, I think i'll do that today or tomorrow.

Invest into Diamond - DMD  Grin Litecoin is hard to get such a high price

PS: I own several hundred Litecoin already

You're the 2nd person to mention DMD in this thread... can you tell me more about it or show me where to get info? I think I want to invest in LTC and one or 2 other atl coins too. Namecoin sounds pretty interesting.

Your saying about MT GOX and coinbase adding LTC soon, how soon do you reckon?

Thanks

Mt gox -- maybe soon, i'll have to find the source of where I heard this.

Coinbase -- no idea. I think for now they are focused on bitcoin and making it simple for the common person to use, and this is something bitcoin desperately needs. I think they are gonna wait on litecoin to not confuse people

It needs some merchants behind it. It will keep rising as Bitcoin rises and people jump onto the 'next best currency'.

This pretty much. I can't see it getting anywhere close to Bitcoin in value without any merchants accepting it. I've heard almost nothing about Litecoin in the media, and even when I have it's only a tiny passing reference.

And that is exactly why I want to invest. If you keep hearing about it, it's likely you missed the boat and missed out on crazy insane returns. Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency the world has ever seen and the media/public is barely able to understand it as it is. Litecoin and alt coins is a whole another level of confusion. Even people who know how to buy bitcoin might not know how to buy alt coins. When that changes wouldn't the prices rise a lot? And about merchant adoption, litecoin is basically a copy of bitcoin, as bitcoin paves the way for cryptocurrency adoption and builds the infrastructure, it won't be any issue to start accepting litecoin as well. But since right now it at such an early stage is the main reason I would want to invest in it.

I definitely don't want to miss the boat for litecoin

Which ones are these? Peercoin and Namecoin?

Nah, take a gamble on one of the cheaper ones. Feathercoin, WorldCoin, Megacoin etc. Do some research and see which one has something that the others can't or don't offer.

Lots of people are talking about quarkcoin and dodgecoin, but am I missing something? What is so special about it?
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Litecoin ever see prices reach $1000? on: December 14, 2013, 09:56:53 PM
Do I buy it now or wait for the price to drop a little?

Buying at the correction is good idea, but buying in front of the collapse is not. So, answer is not easy. I hope it will not collapse. Smiley

This is the key question, if we all knew this we would be millionaires!

I'd buy now. Price has been pretty steady overall.

Thanks, there are sooooo many different types of coins.

What time frames are you talking about for litecoin?

Like where will it be by April 2014?
Where will bitcoin be by this time?
177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will Litecoin ever see prices reach $1000? on: December 14, 2013, 09:03:53 PM
Let's be honest here, most of us missed the Bitcoin boat... it's unlikely it'll go through another insane exponential growth like it has in the past 2 years. But who knows, one can only hope. Sad

But does anyone here think Litecoin will have its own exponential growth? Is anyone investing in litecoin? Apparently it's gaining popularity in China and there will be a bigger volume of mining in the coming months.

I'm sort of thinking the same thing, I can either buy bitcoin or litecoin and I think I am going to go for litecoin.

I'm very hopeful but I would like to hear others opinions.
178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best place to buy Quarkcoin on: December 14, 2013, 02:59:29 PM
Cryptsy is great when everything works, sometimes their servers are slow and coins miss for some time. Everything has alway been corrected rather fast though in my experience. Otherwise you can try bter.com, a chinese exchange that deals with QRK and is good, also btc-38 is expected to add QRK very soon.

what does others think about bter.com
179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best place to buy Quarkcoin on: December 14, 2013, 02:40:34 PM
Did you try online exchanges like Cryptsy, you can trade your Bitcoins for Quarks over there.

Would you recommend them as a good website?
180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Best place to buy Quarkcoin on: December 14, 2013, 02:12:30 PM
Hi there,

Where do you think is the best place to buy Quarkcoin?  Where is easiest, quickest and safest?

I can either buy them with USD or BTC

Thanks very much
