161  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Moveco.in - All your Bitcoin/Altcoin addresses in one place on: December 11, 2013, 08:07:38 PM
Good idea, and great design! It's kind of like a Bitcoin version of https://addy.co -- like Addy, you should build pages for individual address links with transactions, QR codes, and donation buttons to make it even easier to share.
162  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: SpareCoins: Chrome Extension Wallet to make small transactions super easy on: December 11, 2013, 06:33:15 PM
Hey guys,

We just built a Chrome Extension Bitcoin Wallet (open sourced of course). The point was to make sending small amounts of Bitcoin much easier, because you always see random addresses scattered here and there. Opening up your Desktop client takes ages and even using a hosted wallet is too many steps if you just want to send 0.001 BTC for example.

This encrypts/stores your private keys in Chrome Storage, the decrypt key is a SHA256 digest of your password. We use Blockchain.info to propagate transactions and get transaction history on your addresses.

Would you love know what you guys think and will happily take feature requests.

This is cool, thanks for sharing! Is there a reason you chose Blockchain.info over Coinbase for transactions? Blockchain charges 0.0005 BTC/transaction, whereas Coinbase is free for transactions > 0.001 BTC.

Please remove my reservation, thank you.
And sorry to those who are eager to take an episode, the holidays haven't been of help to my free time.
Could I take over fraggerboy's episode (32)? I can finish it within a week.
164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi's Source Code on: December 09, 2013, 06:42:44 PM
Does anyone know where I can find the original Bitcoin source code that was released by Satoshi?
There are a couple of links in the old thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=68121.0

I'm not sure if the posted code is as early stage as you're looking for, but it is mentioned that it corresponds to before the genesis block.
165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Google could create the best Crypto coin on: December 09, 2013, 06:33:07 PM
Google is the only company that could create the best Crypto Coin that will be used and backed by all governments.

They have the tech, they always build new things, and they always do everything better than other companies.

The future of virtual coins will be from Google.

What about Google Coin it sounds great.
Google already made an internal coin that they've been playing with the last couple of weeks -- within days, someone had written a script to steal other employees' coins. At some point one person had 95% of all the coins.

Is this really the stability you're looking for?

Yeah, I think I have to wait until my ATI card arrives. Hopefully the mailman will bring it today  Undecided
Have you tried cudaminer? It seems to work far better than any alternative for Nvidia cards.

E37 hasn't been renewed, right? I'd like to reserve it if possible.

It has been renewed.  Undecided
Oh sorry about that, didn't see

This sell off is wierd! Big buy order at 850, price goes down to 829, stops, new buy orders fills inn from ~875. Again a big buy order at 850, sell off stops at 829, rinse and repeat for like 6-7 times.

using bitcoinwisdom.com.
There is some thought that Mt. Gox is trying to profit from an artificial crash: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=360140.0

Probably best to hold tight or try to buy low from other exchanges.

170  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining different coins simultaneously on: December 06, 2013, 07:52:16 PM
It's generally inferior to mine multiple coins simultaneously, as one will always be more profitable than the other and so it'd just be better to mine that one exclusively. However, you can use an auto-switching pool like https://hashco.ws to mine whatever's most profitable at the moment, while being paid out in Bitcoin.
171  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where do the "lost" Bitcoins go on: December 06, 2013, 12:24:09 AM
I'm guessing there's no way to know how many have been "lost"?
If that's true, then couldn't anyone claim loosing a large number of coins to inflate prices?
The only coins that affect prices are the ones being actively traded (the effective "supply"). Coins that are not in circulation (either in "lost" wallets or just being held) do not really have a significant effect.

Edit: The coins not in circulation don't affect supply (and therefore price) until they are brought back in. Although it's possible that the risk of these coins coming back can decrease prices slightly, I doubt traders are thinking about that fact right now, so its effects are probably negligible.

I guess so, but with there being a finite number of BTC, wouldn't the "value" increase regardless of whether the coins are in circulation or not?

Although, if there's no way prove the actual "loss", then you are right. And, as the prices rise and interest in BitCoin increases, the number of "lost" coins relative to the amount mined should (theoretically) decrease. Thus, reducing their [the "lost" coins] impact on market even further.
I could be completely wrong heh, so please correct me if I am  Tongue
I think in a perfectly efficient market, you're right -- knowing if coins are lost or just being held would affect the price since it impacts overall supply. However, traders right now don't seem to be considering these factors at all; they instead care most about making a profit which results in the huge price rollercoasters that happen each day. Eventually, the lost coins may start to matter -- but not for a while!
