161  Economy / Economics / Re: Inflation soaring in US and other countries gives good prospect to bitcoin on: September 17, 2021, 12:18:27 AM
I was aware that after all the money printing and giveaways during the COVID was just delaying the payment of the crisis ´till a moment in which the economy could possibly take better care of it. However, it was certain that the true cost of the crisis was not being paid. But here is the bill: Soaring inflation, happily accepted by governments in Europe and mainly in US: 5% YoY in August.

This is bad news for most, however it is good news for bitcoin that benefits from inflation and loose financial policies. Keep hodling!

Yeah definitely.

This is exactly the situation that bitcoin has built for. With a limited supply and no association to the fiat economy, it is certainly the perfect hedge against fiat inflation/debasement.

A lot of people still think that gold will be the standard for store of values going forward. Gold bugs have generated negative real returns for the past 4 decades or so - and BTC is clearly the better alternative.
162  Economy / Gambling / Re: Dinabot *** Instant exchanger for Stake and Primedice on: September 16, 2021, 11:45:32 PM
I like the site design a lot better than the old site! Good job on the web dev.

I think that the thing that is most risky for you guys is that if PD and Stake introduces a native exchange service - and I think that it is very likely given that they are essentially under the same ownership, and ideologically PD and Stake are extensions of each other.

You should still diversify to a lot more other casinos imho. Even if you market this as mainly a Stake/PD service.
163  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: G A M B L E R S ❗❗ What are your thoughts on this? on: September 16, 2021, 10:55:15 AM
It really depends on whether Casino B takes a cut or not.

If it's pure PvP and there is no house edge, then only if you are a fool would you take the offer of Casino A.

But at the same time, a lot of gamblers are irrational at heart and won't necessarily go for the option that gives them the highest monetary return - they will go with the most convenient option, which is generally going to be option A.
164  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Concern about the the problem of online underaged gamblers. on: September 16, 2021, 10:16:39 AM
On the notification panel of my android device and that of many other devices of people in my locale that i have come across, I noticed too many pop up ads about one gambling site or the other, which with a click, you will find yourself in the interface of an online casino or betting site asking for you to sign up and get huge bonuses, I also observed that when using the chrome browser on my cell phone to surf some websites on the internet, I am forcefully redirected to some gambling and betting websites that opens up on the tab as well.

I'm concerned for the underaged and how easy these things have become so exposed to them. I did a little research as to the statistics of underaged gamblers for last year, and according to an article, "39% of 11-16-year olds have bet their own money" as at when published in October 2020.

https://www.roulettesites.org/blog/responsible-gambling/underage-gambling.php

Just like pornographic sites, I don't think online gambling sites and casino's can fully checkmate underaged users that sign up, and as a result, unfortunately i see the number of underaged gamblers worldwide to increase significantly by October this year.

What are your thoughts?, What are the possible solutions to the problem of the rising number of online underaged gamblers?

I guess it depends on what the definition of "bet" is in this circumstance.

If it is described very loosely then 39% is certainly within the realms of possibility. But I doubt that 39% of all teenagers have actually bet money in the casino, for example.

I do think that the gambling sector should be heavily regulated, but not to the point where it is inaccessible to anyone due to draconian KYC standards.
165  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Arizona has legalized fantasy sports betting! on: September 16, 2021, 09:43:53 AM
Yeah, really good news.

Really a shame that DK had to deal with this regulatory garbage for such a long time and it's a deserved break I think.

It doesn't matter what state, people need to be able to choose for themselves and weigh up the options against each other with their free will. Makes no sense to keep that choice away from them imho.
166  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Crypto, taxes and regulations? on: September 10, 2021, 08:30:55 AM
If businesses start to accept it as a form of payment, and people start getting paid with crypto, how are they going to tax it or regulate it?

Most countries I believe has a self assessment system whereby you are liable to report any of your taxable events.

If you are asking how they will be able to enforce it, I can think of a few ways:

a) If you are using a centralized payment processor, they probably obtain info from them.
b) If you get tipped off to authorities by others who suspect you're not fulfilling your tax liabilities, you could get some undercover tax agent visits.
c) You could get audited.
167  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Ukrainian Parliament Passes Law Legalizing Cryptocurrency on: September 10, 2021, 08:04:28 AM
I personally don't see this as a huge piece of news at all, or even relevant.

All these legalizations really don't count as much if there is no adoption. Besides, using bitcoin was never illegal to begin with and there was no way of enforcing a ban even if it was.

Just goes to show how much the media can hype things up I guess for absolutely no reason just to create attention grabbing headlines.
168  Economy / Economics / Re: BTC is helping out Cubans and Venezuelans on: September 10, 2021, 04:16:05 AM
...

For OPSEC reasons I don't (personally) want to go in to this topic too heavily myself, but this is already happening.

I have known about Venezuelans for years using BTC (and Dash) as a partial substitute for their worthless currency and hard-to-get US dollar fiat.  Apparently these efforts have been quite helpful to those in Venezuela in a position to use cryptos to make their lives better.

Now Cuban-Americans are sending BTC to embattled Cuba.  I do not know the amounts though.

These really ARE excellent use-cases in which BTC is helping to add value to the lives of those under oppression.  This is clearly a good thing.

Always good to hear actual, first hand accounts of bitcoin being useful in the grander scheme of things.

I think that the speculative aspects of bitcoin has really taken away from the underlying reason that bitcoin exists in the first place, which is to bank the unbanked.

Sometimes it's good to refocus and look at the tangible results that we have achieved. And this is certainly one of them.
169  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Roulette Strategy on: September 10, 2021, 01:10:08 AM
Hi guys, I have seen this roulette strategy and I would like to know your opinions before trying it in the online casino.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KiOldswj57A

Ask yourself this - is it really possible to make $300k a month sitting around and betting on roulette?

If your answer is yes, then why aren't more people doing this?

This guy is clearly pushing his own referral link and misleading others to play on this site. I would strongly suggest that you stay away - if you follow his strategy there will only be one outcome, and that is you losing all your funds.
170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Solana breakout on: September 09, 2021, 11:08:42 PM
Honestly I don't think that this is sustainable.

Solana has a great platform but at the end of the day what this is catalyzed by is really the NFT hype which will eventually die out.

I simply don't see how this sort of valuation is justified when everything is so primitive compared to the likes of ETH. I understand that transaction costs are a lot lower but that doesn't mean that it's more scalable per se than ETH.
171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin 7-09-2021 flash sell-off who is responsible? on: September 09, 2021, 04:48:22 AM
I personally find the accusations that there was some sort of whale manipulation a bit ridiculous.

This is not even a crash as far as I'm concerned. A 10% adjustment is completely normal when it comes to the day-to-day fluctuations of the bitcoin markets.

We can likely attribute this to just normal market fluctuation, with the unfortunate circumstance that a certain exchange also went offline for a brief moment during that time. Calling everything manipulation is a futile exercise.
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NFTs with intrinsic value, is it possible on: September 09, 2021, 04:28:02 AM
Sure, they could be backed by some physical collectible and have its intrinsic value derived from there.

But at the end of the day the value is still derived from the physical object itself and not the NFT.

You could argue that most NFTs already have intrinsic value given their scarcity and the fact that people seem to desire them. It honestly depends on what your definition of "intrinsic value" truly is - for some, it is a strict definition regarding cash flow generation, but for others it can be a lot broader.
173  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Metaverse x Gambling on: September 09, 2021, 04:01:24 AM

Yeah, I see plenty of gamblers trying out NFT games because it's currently fresh.

But I'm not sure about the long term prospects after this initial phase of "freshness".

People will still likely prefer to play the traditional games, and those who prefer NFT games will simply be in another category altogether. I doubt there will be a significant overlap between the two groups.

The long term is in jeopardy because the current NFT games that have the fastest ROI are having some huge problems after few weeks of starting the game. Because their rewards are always drained and the players are multiplying this is one of the problems that they've been facing right now especially those games that focus on play to earn without having daily quests or any activities to make their players have some fun without focusing on the earning features. As soon as they run out of rewards, they close the earning features like what we see right now on Cryptoblade. No one really knows if they come back again.

I completely agree.

This is the problem with these new technologies that have just entered the space.

It's clear that they have a lot of potential and can completely change the landscape of the gambling industry, but no one knows exactly how or when. Right now the long term outlook for these things is still quite uncertain I think, but I do think that metaverses have the potential to disrupt and casinos who innovate first will reap the rewards.
174  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Setting up a gambling business on: September 09, 2021, 01:08:58 AM
Am beginning to pick interest in gambling but I don't have any computer code knowledge but will love to operate a gambling site and will like to get some advice from the members of this forum, I have the capital to run the business until it starts making profits.

You should probably acquire at least some knowledge when it comes to coding before you start with this venture.

That way, you can be at least somewhat sure that you're not getting scammed by the developers that you hire, they're not billing you for more than necessary, and worse yet, they're not installing any backdoors in order to extract funds from your business once it's up and running.

And seriously make sure that you are sufficiently capitalized and not short on funds BEFORE you start this venture.
175  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do not make curiosity to people around you while you are playing gambling. on: September 09, 2021, 12:07:00 AM
This may be one of the reasons why people start playing gambling, curious about what people do, about how are they feeling, about how if winning much money from gambling. Well, sometimes, the environment gives a really big impact on someone to do something, including doing gambling.
In this case, gambling is something that is very interesting, moreover if they promote on an advertisement, with the very big winning, jackpot, bonus, and also rewards.
Of course, it will attract many people to be curious and start gambling. But in fact, they will never tell you about the risks and disadvantages.
And actually, if you are a good personal that always ready with the risks, that can manage yourself and funds in gambling, then a good learner, it may be not a very bad idea because you can learn from gambling and learning by doing to get some winnings.
but in fact, if you are only following and being addicted, this is bad.

Exactly.

That's another reason why you shouldn't be sharing only your wins to friends & family.

They could get the wrong idea and think that gambling is a failsafe way to make money and take matters into their own hands in trying to turn a profit, when in reality they haven't seen the losses as well.

Just keep it down low and deeply private - you can't really go wrong with doing that.
176  Economy / Gambling / Re: Tothemoon.casino: List of Crypto Casino’s with Live MoonTravel/BTC Calc. 🚀🌕 on: September 08, 2021, 04:14:35 AM
Great initiative. Fun and exciting - I like it.

Just one small thing. When I open your site it takes quite a while for the bitcoin price to load and for a while the bitcoin/moon index shows up as "NaN".

Is that something that everyone else is experiencing or just something on my side? Every other site seems to work fine for me this evening.
177  Economy / Gambling / Re: New Crypto Casino with a built in MIXER and token bridges!!! on: September 08, 2021, 03:40:04 AM
Love the site design, but the logo looks a lot like Monero?

Not sure if that is intended but perhaps you want to change it just a tad to make sure that people don't get the wrong idea.

I like the idea of a mixer that is integrated into a casino and I think that privacy centric players will certainly be using this service. But I'm not sure what the wider appeal is. It's very niche and you'll likely find it hard to harness growth from other areas.
178  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Metaverse x Gambling on: September 07, 2021, 11:28:28 PM
I don't think it's particularly unique in comparison to the popular P2Es of today, because most of them have difficult mechanics and have undergone significant development. But I believe this will be popular; gamblers will try it out because NFT games are very popular right now, and the majority of them are successful and this is a meta breaker, could find some interesting mechanics or gameplay here.

179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is ethereum taking the crown from Bitcoin as ehtereum reaches $4000 on: September 07, 2021, 10:57:20 PM
If you have been following the market lately ethereum has been showing some sign of bullish nature even when Bitcoin was struggling around 47k what can we expect as ethereum finally reaches $4,000 is ethereum taking over the market from Bitcoin what are your opinions on the present cryptocurrency market condition?

Nope.

Bitcoin serves the purpose of being a store of value and that's that. ETH has other functionalities.

It's futile trying to just compare them on the basis of market cap. But I don't think that a flippening is going to happen any time soon - perhaps after eth2.0 comes out but even then the first mover advantage of bitcoin and its sheer adoption figures is still significant.
180  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin betting on the 2024 US Presidential Election | Biden+Harris Vs ?? ?? on: September 07, 2021, 10:25:02 PM
Unlikely to be a Biden-Harris in 2024, isn't Joe Biden around 90 years old already? So what's a more exciting game would probably predicting who's going to be the next candidate besides the current regime.

Joe Biden is not going to go for re-election in 2024. In all probability, it is going to be Kamala Harris. Even in 2020, there were rumors of some sort of a deal between Biden and Kamala. The latter would support former's candidature in 2020, and in return Biden will endorse Kamala in 2024. But getting elected as the POTUS is going to be tough for Kamala. Biden was able to attract moderate vote, but Kamal won't be able to do that due to her radical leftist policies. But changing demography gives her some sort of advantage.

For sure.

I don't think that there is any chance that Biden would run again - he is simply too senile at this point.

Kamala is clearly positioned to be the next president if you think about it. Just as Biden rubbed off of Obama's popularity, Kamala is going to be seen as more competent simply because of her involvement in the Biden administration.
