Hi, they are actually a very different project as they have their own blockchain which entails a whole other set of circumstances. While Mysterium Network MYST tokens are currently ERC20 and the plan is to have the smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain, we are not exclusively tied to Ethereum and could choose to move to another blockchain if necessary in the future.

The team is working very hard to provide a top quality tool that will allow privacy on demand to all internet users.

Appreciate your answer. Related to Ethereum and smart contracts, how do you provide privacy?

You are welcome, thank you for being a part of our community.

You can check out our whitepaper for a detailed description of Ethereum smart contracts, identity service and payments.

https://mysterium.network/whitepaper.pdf

6.3. Identity Service
There are interconnected software agents (we call one instance of this an identity agent)
representing digital identities. Each identity agent acts on behalf of a person controlling the
identity. This software agent is a functional part of the application (a Mysterium network node)
used to connect to the Mysterium network to provide or consume VPN services. Each agent has
access to a digital identity represented by the agent's ability to electronically prove service by
signing and decrypting all communications using a private key associated with the identity. A
node may have access to more than one identity. The identity is created by generating public
and private keys. The identity is identified by a unique identifier derived from a public key by
using the last 20 bytes of a keccak256 hash of the public key. This identity can be made publicly
known to other network users by announcing its existence through invoking an identity
registration smart contract on the Ethereum blockchain. The contract must be supplied with an
identifier and a public key of identity as an argument. After the identity contract is successfully
executed the public key of identity is appended to the Ethereum blockchain by miners. At this
point the appended identity becomes a Registered Identity. All Mysterium nodes in the network
follow the blockchain and read transactions of the newly registered identities and maintain a
local copy of the database of all Registered Identities using data gathered from transactions.
Nodes can use a local copy of the Registered Identities database to lookup public keys
associated with other identities. This database is used by nodes to check if the communications
received from other nodes comes from valid registered identities and are properly signed.

6.3.1. Registered Identity Value
Mysterium nodes must attach a predefined amount of value (MYST) to successfully invoke the
identity registration contract and have the identity registered. The amount of value will be
adjusted periodically automatically to reflect the value of MYST in fiat currencies. This forfeiture
of value (MYST) has a purpose of making identity something of value. By attaching cost to
identity we make it unattractive to abandon. Also, because it is expensive to produce identities
in large quantities the system limits exposure to several types of trust exploitation. We see
Registered Identities as something to be reused to users’ own benefit. By reusing an identity for
payments users will have their payments history and balances made public, and their identities
made more predictable and thus trustworthy for service providers. We will discuss risk and trust
relationship further when describing payments.

Governments can also host free VPNs like they do with TOR nodes. In the end, it will be the reputation of VPN providers that will determine if we will trust them as reliable gateways for our traffic or not.

That is correct and that is part of the reason why we will be implementing Paid Identity and reputation systems. Other factors that will affect reputation are speed, reliability, uptime, etc.

How do you rent unused network traffic???How install and run windows version of Mysterium VPN client?

Hi, in order to rent your unused network traffic you need to host a Mysterium node. We are currently on TestNet and when the MYST token has been implemented with the payments system you will be able to earn MYST for hosting your 3rd party node.

The VPN Block Chain coin project is still a good development prospects, MYST development progress is too slow, investors have voted with their feet, prices have fallen to the bottom. Expect the project team to enhance the marketing convenience later.

Falling prices of crypto coins/tokens are the norm in a bear market. We are still in a bear market. Just wait for the Mysterium team to finish the development and you will see how the market will value it. All good things take time to develop.

Hi, thank you for your support and belief in our project. The team is working very hard to provide a top quality tool that will allow privacy on demand to all internet users. Our Window VPN client release date will be revealed very soon and for mobile the Android version will arrive in October. The team is also making good progress on proof of concept for MYST payments system and Paid Identity for nodes.

when is mainnet expected? how can users can the network support at the moment? and what would be the subscription cost for now? is the traffic encrypted? would gas costs and ethereum scalability issues hinder the network performance in any way?

Read FAQ section to understand there is no mainnet planned to launch. This VPN dapp on the blockchain tech I hope by browsing this section you would get a lot info about this project.

Hi, actually I think you may have seen an old link to our MVP last year. That section of our FAQ has been updated to the current information that shows you how you can set up a Mysterium Network VPN node. There are several guides and tutorials that clearly explain the process and you can also join us on Telegram for technical support and troubleshooting as well.

Hi, you can check out our Roadmap for timeline and details on milestones. You can check out the stats and details to our TestNet and run your own Mysterium node as well. Right now you can use the VPN client for Mac for free until the payments system has implemented the MYST token for smart contract transactions. Yes, the traffic is encrypted as it is a VPN connection using the OpenVPN protocol (additional technologies and protocols are being investigated and worked on for future implementation for added security like multi hops, relays and splitting of requests). There will be gas costs for transactions. Although MYST is an ERC20 token we are not exclusively tied to the Ethereum network and if there are scaling issues that cannot be resolved in the future we can move to another blockchain that would meet the needs of the decentralized network.

The technology of the Myst team in the distributed VPN block chain project is still good. The project team should strengthen community building and allow more interested people to participate.

Hi, thank you for your interest in our project. Our new Senior Marketing team member will start this month and we will also be releasing our VPN client for Windows very soon. The development has been going very well as can be seen in our GitHub code. Our MYST token also recently got listed on the LATOKEN decentralized exchange.

MYST project team lost the direction of the project, the progress of the project seems very bad, ICO after a full development of more than a year, no real VPN products come out, this makes investors a little disappointed.

Hi, that is completely incorrect. Please educate yourself and do some research before making misinformed statements. We have one of the most active GitHubs in all of crypto, an advanced version of our macOS VPN client and 3rd party nodes on TestNet with Windows VPN client coming next month and for mobile Android in October. Our Roadmap and progress updates are clear and can be found in all of our social media. There are many people that have been using our VPN for free for months now and they have reported great results as you can see the documentation in our Medium posts.

This happen when someone not following the any project closely although there is some delay. I also think that is good thing they are still making progress to achieve their goals and provide this wonderful product into this ecosystem.

Thank your for noticing our progress and for your support. As you mention we our working hard to provide a top quality privacy tool and will provide privacy on demand to all internet users.

MYST was a top 100 token last year around this time.

The price is ridiculously low. Especially when you look at recent developments, new staff and still growing strong with 7 more open jobs to come. Including a full-time marketing employee!

In the last year they have given a lot to the development of this project but Robert said we will see a whole new side of them in the coming six months. The going to focus on partners who are making dapp's and need a private decentralized backdoor to the internet. In addition, they are well established with not even 1 serious competitive is doing the same: VPN based on Blockchain. This is a billion dollar market and growing!

The only reason why this token is no longer in the top 50 today is because Bittrex delisted a lot of tokens at the time, including MYST. which was annoying because almost all there volume was being made there. The delisting was because those tokens did not yet have a working product so Bittrex decided to delist by themself... But now the do have a working product that is almost finished and running in beta for testers.

I just bought some more on Liqui and that was super simple, easy to use and fast exchange. Also without annoying registrations where you need to give all your address details etc. Fits completely with the philosophy of MYST interested ;-)

Just saying, spend a few dollars on a now 19 cents price token that came from 4 dollar.. Decreased by 20x times but as a company they growing so strong and kept on going!
