161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NET]Netcoin Evolution - NOW WITH GRAVITY WELL! on: April 02, 2014, 08:18:20 PM
Now #1 coin to mine on Cryptsy. This coin will be a good hold for when block halving comes in a few days.

It may drop a day before the halving just like last time, be warned! Tongue

This is at such a low point that I doubt anyone would sell that hard. This is a hard rock bottom for this coin. This is one of those old coins I would put in line wiht LTC, BTC and VTC. This is from before the altcoin scamcoin madness of Feb 2014.

Looks like the trend has now reversed. We are down to 160 Satoshi and there are huge sell orders. A big push is in the works to crush this coin to sub 1 Satoshi levels.

I am slowly starting to liquidate out.

So sad a great coin like this that was soaring above 4,000 Satoshi in January could lose all its prestige just because of a brand new "jumping all over the place", "scam/get-rich-quick" looking website with distorted photos of some people who don't dare to share their real name. You guys seriously killed this coin.

Adios

Good ol' days

 Cool

So you are the reason behind the falling doge? Lol you will be selling for a while. Haha
163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is your RIG still running? Profitable? on: April 02, 2014, 07:23:36 PM
Hunt for new altcoins or check altcoin calendars and if the coin is worth it hold and then sell slowly.

Problem is that we need a ton more alt to spread the new 250mh/s miners around, or all coin developers should focus on Scrypt-N only and let Scrypt difficulty, on all altcoins, just skyrocket like Bitcoin did.

When ASICs appeared on Bitcoins everyone moved onto making Scrypt clones of litecoin.

When ASICs appeared for Scrypt we need everyone to move on to Scrypt-N and that doesn't seem to be happening.
164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is your RIG still running? Profitable? on: April 02, 2014, 07:16:12 PM
People mined bitcoin when they were worthless, look at them now. Just because at this very moment it isn't profitable, doesn't mean it wont turn out to be.

K.

Big difference is that bitcoins almost always had an uptrend. Since March 1st things are not rosy there either.
165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Is your RIG still running? Profitable? on: April 02, 2014, 06:46:52 PM
Hello Everyone, I wanted to solicit your opinion on whether I should shut down my RIG.

So I started Jan 1st, spent $1,500 on my 4x7970 RIG.

I started making 0.30 BTC avg. worth $30 minus $5 daily for electricity my net was  $25/day. (mining alt of course)

Well, I never sold any BTC so it was never realized profit, but by March 1st I had made 1.5 BTC.

Then March hit. Gridseeds flooded the (Chinese) market before ever making it to the rest of the world and profits sank for everyone else doing GPU mining. Scrypt-N showed up but coin developers were very slow in making hundreds of clones so those have not become profitable either.

So... profits for me are down to 0.012BTC day, (BTC is in the $440 range) making my profit worth $6 /day minus $5 in electricity and now I'm down to $1/day which is not worth the noise and the space it takes over and certainly more than what I lose on depreciation of the parts. My RIG as is is prbably worth $1,000 or less (it was worth $3,000 in Jan).

So as of tonight it seems like I need to shut down the RIG.

So I'm here asking any one of you who is in the same boat (anyone doing GPU probably is). What are you guys doing? What are you mining? What is your advise for me?

Thanks!

Doge
167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Why DOGECoin will go up 3000% again on: April 02, 2014, 04:56:27 AM
Dogecoin community raised $55,000 for Josh Wise and he will be driving a dogecoin wrapped car at NASCAR at the end of April or early May. So tons of doge were cashed out recently to pay for the car painting and sponsor the driver why explains the recent dro in price which creates a good opportunity of buy a ton with a few BTC. But once he gets on National TV, then doge will get tons of attention. 3,000% jump may be an under estimation. DOGE at 3000 Satoshi doesn't feel over valued. Disclaimer: I own 10,000 doge at the time of this writing.

168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LTCS] Litecoin Scrypt - a scrypt version of Litecoin. Launched! on: April 02, 2014, 04:32:19 AM
Litecoin started Scrypt, wtf is this???

Someone correct me if I'm wrong please:

All these scrypt coins a basically LTC clones.
All Scrypt-N coins are VTC clones.
All SHA-256 are BTC clones.
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty for X11 NVidia miner on: April 01, 2014, 07:24:31 PM

Here is a better solution and saves you your 0.8BTC.

Why dont you sell the POS nVidia cards on eBay and get a couple of monster R9 290s? Better speed for gaming, better scrypt mining and better resale value (AMD Graphics cards FLY off the shelves. Try putting on on Craigslist at the right price, you will get tons of messages).

nVidia has NEVER been faster or better at the same price point compared to AMD, NEVER, neither has Intel, again at the same PRICE POINT. The only thing AMD has continuously failed is the Catalyst drivers which they can never get right.

Radeon R7 265 2GB is the direct competitor to the 750ti You are comparing it to 7950 which is not a very good card for mining plus its 2 years old already. Compare to 280x at least thats 10 months old:

The R7 265 costs $150 gets 445 kh/s and uses 150W
nVidia 750ti also costs $150 gets 300 kh/s and uses 38-60W depending on which model you use

This year was the first time I ever bought Radeon cards. 2 R290x. I bought it because they are better for mineing.

However I somewhat regret it.

It was way more difficult to get them running right and the standard R290x is sort of a cheat package in my opinion because it doesn't runs as advertised ..they have a serious termal problem and their fan is too loud and too noisy and their GPU engine clock turtles down.

Before you say yeah it's the wrong card..should have taken a saphier etc ... true.. but I have an Nvidia690 which has a DUAL GPU and a cage fan too.
It looks very much the same from outside.

The Nvidia runs at max power without turteling down the GPU clock and it is SILENT and just performs 24/7 day in day out. No trouble at all.
And on top of that cbuchners cuda miner just run as it should. No strage and long time trying to figureing out of those cgminer settings.

It took me days to get the right cgminer config (yeah I am useing sgminer too) and it took me days to build a cooling system for those 2 cards in my PC that is working and is silent enough and I still can run the CPU at 100% too.

Ok once all is set up it runs. Just a question how long till the card will burn out.. as I read this is a common problem of those radeon cards.

BUT the real let down still followed: I figured out why I never wanted to buy a radeon card: Blenders cycle render! Yeah I forgot about it.

Simple put Blender is a high end free ware animation tool and their render is fast with Nvidia and cuda but does not work with OpenCl and Radeon

As I understand it it is not becuase they don't want but because of AMD's radeon drivers and OpenCL limitations!

The next generation of Nvidia cards comming out very soon and is a lot more energy efficient and of course increase performance.

It might be very significant for the second half of this year when it comes to mineing. We might see a surprise and a rethinking of Radeon vs Nvidia for that half year..who knows.

I sure will go back to Nvidia. Less problems less noise and can be used for more than just mineing.

280x is the ideal card for mining with 7970 being the close runner up (only because of loew resale value, otherwise hashrate is the same).

290x is not good for mining, the electrical use does not justify, nevermind the cost. 290 maybe ok but not as efficient as 280x for the hashrate.

I have used nVidia and AMD both for a very long time. I have had AMD CPUs and ATI graphic cards since early 90s.

I can tell you I would never use Intel + nVidia combo over AMD + AMD combo for any PC, gaming or mining.

You also mentioned putting two cards in a PC, that will make your cards very loud. Get a $20 box fan and your CARD will get much quiter. The poor thing is HOT. Your fan speeds should not get over 60%, if they do you need better air blowing at it or your ambient temperature is too high. If your room temp is over 85F or you are leaving it outside and outside temp is over 85F, you should simply SHUT OFF THE RIG, period.

170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bounty for X11 NVidia miner on: April 01, 2014, 03:21:53 PM
X11 is becoming a very popular solution for miners and has two very decent coins under its belt already, Darkcoin and Hirocoin. Kudos to Evan Duffield the original creator of X11.

The NVidia miners are somewhat left out though as there is no Cuda miner for X11 yet. I would like to offer a bounty of 20,000 Hirocoin for a working Cuda miner for X11. This offer is open for the next month and will be reviewed on the 26th March if no Cuda miners exists at that point. The bounty is currently worth 0.8BTC and the price is rising sharply.

Let me know if this is something that you are able to do and want to compete for the bounty. Miners will be validated on nvidia cards in the order that they are submitted.

Because:

A) My 750tis mine at 50% hash of my 7950s for 25% of the power.
B) Summer is coming, I'd rather not have my 7950s heating up my apartment.
C) Decentralization, be it individual hash, pool hash, or hardware adoption (remember how AMD prices skyrocketed as a result of mining?) is better than a monopoly.

171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Confession from an infamous scam coin cloner on: April 01, 2014, 02:56:06 PM
The big problem is that we dont have enough clones. We need hundreds if not THOUSANDS of clones, vey similar to each other to cloud and make a mess out of cryptocurrency.

Here are a few example coin names to make FUZZY cloud around bitcoin:

bitcoino
bitconio
bitcoin2, bitcoin3, bitcoinalpha, bitcoinbeta, batcoin,. biticoin, bitacoin, botcoin
.....
bittcoin bittycoin, bitcoim , bitkoin, ....

Once we make all these shit coins, and all new comers start getting into those (not even knowing its not the original bitcoin), buying them, trading and selling, then maybe the community will come together and realize the easy cloning is the biggest threat to cryptocurrency and find a solution to save it.

A cudaminer for Hirocoin would be groovy.

Can my nvidia card on my notebook mine some Hiro ?   Grin Grin

You should never mine with a laptop. You will make 40 cents in 6 months while spending $50 in electricity and at the end your laptop WILL FRY.

I want to see NET at 500 satoshis...

This is the silent but solid money maker. It just crossed over 303. This is not a get rich witch scam coin. Slowly building momentum and crawling up with short term drops when the flaky investors are kicked out.
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Promising Unreleased Coins on: March 24, 2014, 08:46:19 AM
Only NScrypt coins should be released. No point making Litecoin based Scrypt with the 100 MH ASICs out there. Profit is almost down to zero with GPU.

I think that was one of the best exchanges and I was able to withdraw all my coins (didnt have BTC). It was fast and responsive. Loved it while it lasted. But I never understood why it went down like that.

179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / +1 if you think coin developers should only make ASIC resistant (NScrypt) on: March 24, 2014, 08:28:54 AM
This thread is for coin developers to know what the miners want. The ASIC Scrypt miners have pushed the profits so far down on GPU that it is soon going to become a war zone like BTC. GPUs are out of the game. And the game is actually going to die soon with people spending 10,000 on a piece of equipment that will never pay itself off, nevermind making a profit. The new coins are not being introduced as fast as the new hash power is being built so the ASICs have taken over.

type +1 as a reply to this thread if you think coin developers should only make ASIC resistant (NScrypt) coins from now on and GPU miners should all switch. No more Scrypt Litecoin based coins. Let the ASIC owners fight it out and increase the difficulty of all these coins to the moon and their profit to zero.  If you think instead of the pain in the neck vertminer nscrypt, the new standard should be a different one like SHA-2 or something please note that as well/

Just a question to everyone who was affected: what backup mining pool(s) do you have configured in your miners?

Middlecoin
HashCows

Mine is set to mine NET, on www.bitcoop.tk as backup, good returns.
