Cannot download the wallet. When u fix it?
What can't you download?  I just downloaded it via the Mega link...

I have been sick this week (it has been very cold here), so quiet and a little slow.  But still work hard behind the scene.  There have been some nice graphics work posted on forum.bitparticle.com that I will try to incorporate into next release of wallet.  I also have put in the auto-sum in transaction history.  Right now going through to clean up API and lock down internal core code for separation to make sure apps go through API.

Multi-sig seems the way to go, at least when it comes to "coins".

So does this mean that there could be many P2P networks that support OT protocol, and the user can choose to connect to different ones?  Or BitMessage will sort of be the de facto OT P2P network?

Kind of like how there is Bitcoin the protocol and Bitcoin the coin that operates on its port.  There will be the OT protocol and the "core" OT network that our users can connect to?

I kind of feel like OT is going to be the next seminal moment in internet history...

New screenshots and update on the beta soon.  Wink

No need for anyone to fix anything, just have to understand the rules.

For 'stuck sent transactions' just run your wallet from the command line with the --salvagewallet command.  It takes a while but it recovers all the sent transaction that failed because they are made up of too big...and by big I mean made up of too many incoming transactions not the actual amount of PRT sent.  Next time send less in a single transaction.  This is a common issue with Quark for miners that were on the P2Pool since they got many many many micro incoming amounts so I would expect the same with Particle.

Maybe a button for this thing or stuff like that in some "Maintenance" or "Control panel" tab of a wallet?

If this is going to be widely spread, remember how many non geek people stare at you when you mention "Command line"
It's like: "WHAAAT???"
Need to be careful with this though.  Some of these functions can be dangerous if you don't know what you are doing.  If its built into wallet some people will have tendency to just click on everything without understanding what they are doing...

Usually the issue when you have lots of micro transactions is that there is a limit to the number of inputs to a transaction, so you may get told you are trying to send too large a sum, and have to break it up into smaller sends...this is unavoidable with blockchain, but there is UI feedback for this situation and while an inconvenience it is generally easy to work with.

But as far as control panel...maybe we build UI but require a special command line argument to enable or something.  Make it not too easy to force people to think...
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Has anyone integrated an alt-chain with Open Transactions yet? on: January 29, 2014, 08:20:54 PM
There are only two ways to use a blockchain-based currency in OT:

1. Trust an issuer to hold the coins, and then he issues the corresponding units inside OT. Markm's OT server is doing this now. This is the same as if he was holding gold, or dollars, etc.

2. Eliminate the issuer by putting the coins into a multi-sig voting pool. We are working on this now and should have the code ready soon. Note that this will only work with blockchains that support multi-sig.

Can miners be issuers?  Or mining pools would act as issuers?  Or is this more like, somebody sets up an issuer that acts like a local exchanger, you send your mined coins to them, and they send you the OT tradeable units.  You are trusting them to be your reserve bank.

With #2, once you do this, can you then trade and perform transactions with the coins in the voting pool, or do you still need to convert them into tradeable units?

Also for #2, does this require a bitcoin-based blockchain, or does it only require a multi-signature interface that you could have a different type of blockchain behind?

Last question for now - so is there one OTX P2P network, that everyone using OTX will connect to?  To facilitate trades between assets I might define, and assets somebody else might define.

Sorry if too many questions.  But OT is very interesting to me and I have some ideas for something I want to build.
173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Has anyone integrated an alt-chain with Open Transactions yet? on: January 29, 2014, 08:22:56 AM
Just wondering if there are any alts out there that have been integrated with Open Transactions?  As I understand it, OTX is a protocol.  I have not downloaded the code to try it out yet, but is there a core reference OTX p2p network, that you then interface with via the protocol.  Or do protocol implementers essentially run their own network?

Presumably at some point in the future, one would be able to connect to an (or "the"?) OTX network and exchange alt-chain 1 for alt-chain 2 or any other supported virtual financial asset or vehicle.

Are there example of anyone who has done this yet?  Or is it still uncharted territory?

Unobtanium is fantastic, I love it.  Paper wallet looks really really nice.  But why price only .0042.  That does not add up when halving is coming soon.  So many sell order.  Maybe price drop to 30's and I buy more.

Hi CoinMarket.io, just wanted to say thank you for adding Particle, and you have scored an awesome domain name.

My biggest concern is also the fact this will have to be open source for 2 reasons. One because it will have qt elements, GPL requires you to open source. And 2, community won't accept a wallet that is not open source.

So in my opinion we need a solution for this. I have no idea what, but the main selling point will be up for grabs for any established currency...
The wallet itself does not actually use any pre-existing code.  It simply consumes the RPC interface.  It consumes other open source libraries, but there is nothing in it that technically requires it to be open sourced (well, there are some QT icons in it right now, but they will be replaced).

But, non-technically, the community will indeed demand open source software anyway so it will need to be released at some point.

Draw out the beta period over enough time to build a barrier to entry by getting app store and a set of apps built.  Build apps that are desirable that themselves are not open source or are some way exclusive to PRT.
something to think about...
about open source, copyrights and patents
Well, I already own some patents but I don't really believe in them.  At the moment the PRT wallet only _links_ to other libraries, which poses its own license questions.  Not all are GPL, some have other licenses with varying terms.  In any event, the idea with the Particle wallet wasn't intended to build a commercial/centrally-controlled product... but it does present the interesting challenge of how to balance being open source vs. protecting market position.  Bulding out the ecosystem to critical mass will help to build a barrier.

Like I said - there will be a thread posted tonight detailing the info and plans. If you wish to support it after reading it - donate, if not - not.

This is what I am proposing as well.
Getting organized. Creating a dedicated fund for marketing purposes.
Having one/two people in charge

I don't see many people wanting to get in charge of things.

That's why I proposed this in the first place. Enough of child play, our competition is serious Smiley

P.S. I  apologize if anyone here got offended by the tone of my latest posts. I simply want this coin to succeed, and all I am doing is offering help.
Please direct your efforts through the official planning thread so everybody is on the same page and consistent.

We do not necessarily need more chiefs, we need the crowd to participate in the official threads and the cream of the crowd ideas will rise to the top naturally.

We do not need funds to get started.  If you want to build a fund that is all well and good, but the priority right now is to determine the core messaging and brand values that can then be fed to a designer and professional copywriter to draw on.

Just to be perfectly clear:

The idea of getting organized was already put forth both in this thread and elsewhere and the official location for coordinating marketing planning has already been created and is located here:

http://forum.bitparticle.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=258

And of course ssshhh has now created the thread for sourcing graphic designer resources.
