what`s wrong with BC? why ist there such a price drop?

Look at the market, all big coins are tanking, BTC itself can't revitalize to reach 400, XC is crashing badly down to 30-40k (it never was down there since spring), DRK doesn't look much better. Nothing is wrong with BC, but alot seems wrong in the whole cryptoworld and BC is doing rather well so far in this depression.

Cool, finally a DRK paying multipool. Any ETA?

Hi vertoe,

the Beta will start by the end of next week at the latest. We are working hard to make it happen in the next few days.

Best wishes
crazyjack

Sounds good, I will give some MH for your beta. Keep us updated

What is so great about BC? And why are the Chinese getting behind this coin?

You are a little bit lazy. Here you have an answer from our reddit by btclaw http://www.reddit.com/r/blackcoin/comments/2eyyi1/what_makes_blackcoin_or_any_altcoin_better_or/

Speed. Bitcoin is slow, taking at least 10 minutes per block and sometimes, much, much longer. Blackcoin has blocks in less than a minute. Blackcoins speed makes it more practical to use and preferred for applications like BlackHalo.
Proof of Stake. Bitcoin is difficult to mine. More and more computing power goes to mine it, causing a high cost of mining and high carbon footprint. Blackcoin is Proof of Stake and not "mined". You will earn 1% annual interest by staking Blackcoin, which also helps secure its network. That also makes Blackcoin a good altcoin "savings bond".
Security. Bitcoin is vulnerable to attacks by those who control 51% of the mining power. This potential is already possible due to mining pools. Blackcoin is not susceptible to this attack because it is not mined. Proof of Stake 2.0 is far more secure, requiring someone with 51% of the coins to make a similar attack, and coin age issues addressed by Proof of Stake 2.0 dilute the effectiveness of such an attack as well. I like asdffsdf's points on how that someone who purchased 51% of the existing Blackcoins has far less incentive to ruin the network.
Other Issues. I enjoy Blackcoin's community and active developers. Blackwave Labs, for example, created BlackBit, an open source and improved version of VeriBit that allows Blackcoin to be used where Bitcoin is used. I'm looking forward to BlackHalo and using my bc to use for the required escrows (thanks dzimbeck!). I also use Coinkite, the first major exchange/point of sale service that picked up Blackcoin. Blackcoin was the first coin to use the multipool concept for mining other coins and paying the miners in Blackcoin, creating constant buy pressure.
I don't see Bitcoin being able to fix its major flaws. I see Blackcoin as Bitcoin 2.0.

We could need more info-memes explaining this to the lazy, short attention guys. Unfortunately I am no graphics designer.

You are right; we need a nice infographic about this.

Also worth noting:
- PeerCoin is kind of slow too (blocktime).  And it's not pure PoS apparently?
- The PoW used by Bitcoin, Litecoin, Dogecoin, and perhaps Peercoin, is pretty wasteful.  The mathematical puzzles that miners solve are just for the purposes of 'racing' to get the next Bitcoin (or whatever).  But the 'waste' is necessary in PoW, because otherwise people would just make thousands of agents to say "I'm here, give me a coin."

In fact the PoW is necessary in PoW to complete transactions with creating continous blocks. PoS does that with minting instead of mining and hence needs less power and basically nothing more than a few wallets online somewhere in the world. The positive site effects is the included inflation thats considered to be healthy in fiat currencies too.

Hey all, anyone watching QTL? They have a great idea I think Blackcoin should do...( I know we have a lot of irons in the fire but not sure about this one )
Quatloo-Trader : They made a bot for trading cross sites, arbitrage, automated, ping pong, scalping, etc. etc..
Just owning the coin = free use (which) = buy support = dilution = liquidity
Easy to see this is a game changer.

Black coin already wants to take over litecoin as a trading pair so integrating a trading bot would be a perfect fit. Requiring 10 or 50,000 balance to use means buy support = dilution = liquidity = everything a good crypto needs!

Someone Please tell me we already have this in the works!?!

Should be no problem - if you have a trading bot. That's however the problem, I know no bot that works properly - and of course they cost money, so you have to pay before you can try.

BC is above 10k on bter

Looks like a few large buys have pushed price to 11k on BTER.
well, the guys who keep the price down on the other 3 exchanges took (of course) care of it within shortest time.
Somebody seems to be working really hard to keep it below 9k for days now, on BTER someone posted a sell order more than 2k below the next highest when it went above 11600.... couldn't be more obvious.

still nice to see 80+ BTC volume on BTER, can't remember that i saw that exchange actually move the price, even if only for a short time frame.

Thats the same when the price was dumped to 8k on mintpal the same day as BC pairs went to bittrex. One single sale of 39btc 1500 satoshi below lowest sell order.

Can the blackcoin music video link to this thread and blkfeed?

That's a good idea. We need to get the description on the video updated so that it assist with directing visitors to the correct locations. When Jabulon get's back from France, we'll get this addressed.

Ok thats good.

My entry point in to crypto was finding bitcointalk. I'd never used Reddit before. But as CoinGecko use Reddit stats to measure community activity, and people use CoinGecko, I had to use Reddit.

So we have all these information sources. Can I get my aunt/uncle on to bitcointalk? Not a chance. Even my kids don't use forums.

It is our responsibility as a community to do our best to share the information as best we can. There is no right or wrong way, but let's try to be as efficient as possible. If we see something somewhere, that is not somewhere else, just repost the link. It's not perfect, but it will do the job.

More importantly, the BlackCoin Music Video is drawing new people to BlackCoin and through Google, they are finding old threads.

Here is my post on BLKFeed regarding the issue:

http://www.blkfeed.com/topic/182/important-tidy-up-loose-ends-old-bitcointalk-blackcoin-thread

There's enough of us using these platforms to help gel them together. The more entry points to updated information we have, the wider our reach. Given that BlackCoin is now 6 months old it is expected that information can become a little fragmented over that time.

So, let's share information, between platforms and not let a single potential investor escape!

Can the blackcoin music video link to this thread and blkfeed?

Actually no.
We just do not keep OUR (== community) eyes anymore on the pump and dump/trolling shithole the whole Altcoin section here on BTCTalk has developed into.
200 clones, shitcoins and outright scams per month battling for a top spot on that bloody [ANN] subforum... what a joke.

Get over to blkfeed.com or our subreddit if you are interested in BC, very active community and way, way better places to be Smiley

Problem is, this is still the first forum for people to look at. Even worse, the old BC ann thread (that has no link to the new one) is still #2 on Google.

we asked the bitcointalk mods several times to allow us a link to the new thread and other resources on the first and last page, afaik it was simply ignored every time.

You also cannot force people to post or even read in this crap forum anymore... with all the stuff going on a linear thread is simply nonsense. Of course we would be up to 2000 pages in no time again if everybody was using this thread _only_, especially if we did sort of live mintpal price reporting like many do, but for what?

btw, no one who sees google results will believe that a serious coin has no home but a single thread on a 3rd part forum ;-)

The first Time I heard about blackcoin was on a youtube video, so I  goggled it to find out what it was . As a result I found the old thread which seemed dead . That... plus the way the price was falling made me think for a while that this was dead coin.

Right, that's what I said earlier already too, when the old thread was closed. The old thread had many trolls, but it had weight and high search rankings. Thousand of sites link to bitcointalk.org which gives this forum a high ranking in google. Coins that are debated on this domain get attention.

That this is a 3rd party plattform doesn't matter at all. What matters is the attention the plattform gets. A Facebook page with 1000 posts has more attention than a small forum with 1000 postings because facebook has better reach, a twitter hashtag with 100000 tweets is more "a thing" than a single forum with the same postings. Also, look at pages of old alt-shit-coins. They all promise "the future" and "super secure, super fast, the best currency for 21th century" but what people, outsiders, say about it is important and if there is a community that gets new members constantly.

I know, that bitcointalk.org doesnt allow to link to the new thread, but that would just even more mean, that this thread has to be filled and linked to beat the old thread from search rankings.

may i please have the irc link i want to know more about staking i've read about it but cant comprehend what it means

Staking means, you get coins for having your wallet sending youself some of the coins you own. That process, called minting, generates blocks without someone having to mine them, therefore POS coins are energy saving and more secure than POW coins, because POW needs constant mining to keep the blockchain going and a high hashrate well distributed, so no one can practically do a 51% attack. For 51% attach on POS coins, one would have to optain much more than 51% of all coins while in POW she only needs 51% of all hashrates.
As this POS process generates coins without doing much for it (only having to keep your wallet online), it includes an inflation, which is considered healthy for a currency if the inflation stays within 1-3% pa.

it is far better to invest in anoncoins.
invest in a pos coin with no anon now is very risky  but it is better you make your own decision
Funny, there is not a single anon coin that did not take as much or even more of a beating than BC recently...
The whole anon thing was a nice hype but people start to realize that none of them is even close to get it working _properly_, regardless of what they announced.

In terms of real world use all the anon coins are 100% undetectable in comparison to BC though.

Also, no one ever could explain to me, what sense all this anonymizing has. I mean only few guys who really might need it are silkroad or cp dealers or guys doing big ammounts of money laundry. Normal people are anon enough with any cryptocoin since the pseudo-anonymity of cryptos requires a certain amount of investigation into the transactions to map the money to a certain person. And those that are criminal and want to cloak in cryptos can still do it quite easily by just transfering their money over 2-3 currencies using different addresses/exchange accounts. No one really needs anoncoins for that.

The only thing missing is BC/Fiat!

Ask Cryptsy? They have Doge and RDD/USD at least...
