161  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't fall for Airdrop Scams on: June 08, 2018, 10:21:04 AM
I participate in some Airdrops, I just think you have to use a bit of common sense when we are signing up to these things.

If something looks too good to be true, or people are asking for sensitive information (passwords, keys etc) then i think we all know its just a blatant scam. Problem is, people who are brand new to crypto who might get sucked into one of these traps, get burned and then automatically assume that everything to do with crypto is a scam- thus giving crypto/BTC a bad name.

We all need to play our part in helping people avoid the pitfalls and scammers.
162  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A small guide about merits on: June 07, 2018, 09:43:24 PM
Excellent post. A real good heads-up for us newbies!

Merit has to be awarded on contribution. Too many people post one sentence posts and expect the rewards straight off!  This is the first time I have even mentioned merit on here other than when Jet Cash asked my opinion of the merit system on his blog. Not trying to be a 'teachers pet' here but I plan on chipping in where I can, looking to see where I can make valid points and posts, and generally help out where i can. I don't think senior members are being awkward by not giving merit- it just has to be earned!  Smiley
163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it my impression or media is biased towards bad news ? on: June 07, 2018, 01:11:28 PM
To quote the age old saying "No news is good news".

It matters little to me what sort of things are peddled in the media, because the vast majority of these people don't even understand what they are wriring about. They are just selling a story.

As long as Bitcoin is being talked about (good or bad) the more people are curious.  Wink
164  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Do you believe in god? on: June 07, 2018, 12:52:48 PM
Do you believe in God? It must be one of the most asked questions for the last 2000 years but one which will ALWAYS offer a variety of answers!  Smiley

Personally, I am Catholic and was born into a religious family, i do believe that Jesus Christ existed as there are just too many records of it that have been preserved throughout time for him not to have existed. That said, do i believe he was the son of God? Nope! Do i believe in God? Nope! Here's why...

Imagine there had been no religion at all before today, then someone all of a sudden pops up and starts shouting "i'm the son of god" or "follow me" etc? They would not be taken seriously and would more than likely dismissed as a magician (for miracles etc) or that they were insane.

Add to that the fact that things years ago were a little different to what they are today! People have evolved, are educated and able to think for themselves better as opposed to 1000's of years ago when religion was force-fed down peoples throats that you will burn in hell if you don't believe.

Science tells us that there is no God, however I believe that if there is a God it will be at such a magnitude that we cannot even comprehend or understand as mere humans beings. The mind boggles when i think of it.

That said, i do love a good debate about it, and always respect anyones faith irrespective of what i believe.

165  Other / Beginners & Help / New here? Please read this and protect yourself at all times on: June 07, 2018, 11:02:49 AM
Good day to you wherever you are from. New here?

I've made this post as I think if you are new to crypto/Bitcoin, its MASSIVELY important to get this message across.

It may seem obvious to some people, but i know people involved with crypto who this has affected directly, and i don't wish it upon ANY of us here...

The simple fact is- PEOPLE ARE ACTIVELY TRYING TO STEAL YOUR MONEY! and we all need to be aware of the basics just so we do not fall victim to scammers, cheats and thieves.

What can you do to protect yourself? I have made a list of BASIC FUNDAMENTALS of protecting yourself if you are new to this space and I would advise you to follow them to be on the safe side, and help to avoid potential heartache.

  • Make a brand new Email account/accounts for everything crypto related. I advise an email like protonmail which i use and it is super encrypted to keep you extra secure.
  • If something seems too good to be true- it probably is!ETH giveaways DO NOT EXIST! As silly as it may seem to some, other people are falling for this everyday and if you are new to crypto which a lot of people are everyday- hence the reason there are more and more of them on a daily basis
  • Be old fashioned- WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN-buy a diary/journal and back up all of your passwords login details down OFFLINE, plus in the event of hard drive failure, this could be your saving grace!
  • Use 2FA (two factor authentication) on anywhere you can that is Crypto related, this is an extra layer of security that will make it harder for people to access your details. Google Authenticator is so easy to set up and its free!

A lot of what I have written here may seem basic, but we have people from all walks of life and backgrounds here, so i think a reminder to everyone won't do any harm.

I will edit this thread if you think there are any fundamentals missing, and appreciate your feedback. Have a great day!  Smiley
166  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Spreadsheet: Scam-Airdrops! on: June 07, 2018, 10:17:58 AM
Awesome work, I won't lie i do participate in some Airdrops, but the amount of blatant scams popping up and the 'ETH giveaways' all over Twitter etc, are going to have a real negative effect on Cryptocurrency across the board.

Kudos to you for making this spreadsheet and protecting newbies from the sharks!
167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Continuity of Power and Influence of the Banks and the Governments on: June 07, 2018, 10:10:09 AM
I just want to ask the opinions of the members of this forum regarding the gradual yet obvious turning of events in the world as regards the development of cryptocurrency vis-à-vis the banks and the governments.

We somehow give a connotation that cryptocurrency is a way out of the influential and powerful ways of the banks and the governments. No wonder why crypto first thrived in the underground--in the deep web for instance--
before it came out into the open and eventually into the mainstream arena.

However, we noticed that the banks and the governments are now getting into the crypto game. There are news that certain banks around the world are opening up for crypto already. And the governments are also accepting yet effectively regulating crypto at the same time, thus controlling it in some significant ways.

Do you guys think that the with the powerful banks and the governments joining in the crypto development, its revolutionary system will somehow get pulled towards the old kind of system we have right now?

I need your wide perspective on this please. Thank you.

Hi guys, although i'm relatively new here I'm not brand new to crypto. What i can see, we have everyone wanting to get involved in Bitcoin- but they are not shouting from the rooftops about it...yet! There is- and will always be- FUD thrown at BTC but in my honest opinion this is manufactured and manipulated at an attempt to drive the price down.

Just look around at things that are happening at the minute, we have Wall street involved, governments buying it, Big exchanges are starting to shift towards welcoming institutional investors. Indeed, Coinbase is to start offering an Institutional suite of product just a few weeks back. These things all point to one thing, and that is the big money is trickling in.

A lot of the FUD is created by the same people who are wanting to buy more- but Wall St and other big investors buy in at their price, not ours.

I sincerely hope we don't get pulled towards the 'old system' but i think its going to be inevitable if the price crashes too low
168  Economy / Speculation / Re: Maximum price that BTC can reach realistically on: June 06, 2018, 05:42:46 PM
Hello everybody! already many times influential people in the crypto world said that bikoin would cost very much! my opinion that bitcoin this year will set a new record for the price! I'm sure that the price until the new year will be around 25,000! taking into account the fact that production is declining, and the stability of transactions is increasing, in the next few years the price of bitcoins will reach 100,000! this figure is not fantastic, but realistic! all world investors keep most of their investment in bitcoin, and the terms of investment set themselves to 2020-2021! I want bitcoin to find its real standing and stop, that's when it will not interfere with the growth of all other coins!

Hey GeorgiyBilyk, I also think its possible and realistic it goes to around $100k (no idea when mind, perhaps the date you quoted because of scarcity) but i cannot see beyond that, it depends on so many factors and possibilities/permutations where things could implode in price or explode in price!
169  Economy / Speculation / Re: Maximum price that BTC can reach realistically on: June 06, 2018, 05:34:09 PM
Can you tell me what can be the maximum price of Gold ? Can you tell me how high the rates of property can go ?
There won't be an answer. Similarly the question you have asked cannot have a definite answer as it belongs the knowledge of future which nobody has.
Anybody can sell it at any price and the lowest of it would be considered as the selling price. If suddenly everybody starts selling it at $1 million and people still buy it then the price of 1 BTC would be $1 million (don't take it seriously though). Only time can tell us the answer to that question.

Hi, i expected someone to reply like this  Grin, I hear what you say about nobody knows what the price of anything is, as this is a Bitcoin forum i thought it was a fair question thats all.

Also, history tells us a lot of how gold prices and property prices have performed against inflation and economic stability, so realistically i think you could easily gauge the price of either of those with better precision vs the price of BTC which is in its infancy and has no real history or story to tell against economics, war, buyer sentiment etc. For me, thats why people may see it is a risky investment.

For the record, i am PRO-Bitcoin by the way, incase my words are taken out of context.  Wink

Hi all, this is something that I have had numerous conversations about and one that not many can agree on. I am fascinated to hear your opinions on...

  • How high can the value of BTC reach at its peak? (and maybe a quick summary why)
  • When is that likely to happen in your honest opinion?

I respect everyone's opinion as i am sure it will differ drastically.

is there anywhere on here specifically related to opportunities/roles/jobs within the cryptosphere? (sorry about the cringey word!  Cheesy )

If anyone could give me any pointers towards any available copywriting work (or something similar) i'd be most grateful.
Yes, refer to these boards:

In addition to those, you can try the following as well:

1. XBTFreelancer
2. WorkingForBitcoins
3. cryptogrind
4. Coinality
5. Jobs4Bitcoins
6. BitGigs
7. Digiwave

Take note: Can't vouch for them (since I haven't used them).

Thank you very much SFR10, i will have a good scour over these areas, appreciate the quick reply too.

Hi guys, I am enjoying my time here on the forum and finding an ever expanding wealth of information here!

If anyone could give me any pointers towards any available copywriting work (or something similar) i'd be most grateful.

Thank you in advance and have a great day.  Smiley
175  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to get referral links from docs.google form airdrops ? on: June 06, 2018, 08:14:30 AM
I have participated in a good few Airdrops and see what you mean about there being no referral link sometimes yet other people/pages are still promoting it.

I could be wrong here, but maybe some of these start-ups ICO's are relying on you to see the (potential) value or use case in their token, and in doing so are hopeful that you would promote them on merit rather than reward? Personally speaking, if i thought something looked great i wouldn't have a problem sharing it if i thought it was worthy of it.

Maybe i'm old fashioned, but i don't think everything should be attached to monetary value?  Undecided

177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is Ripple Going To Reach 10,000$ By 2020? on: June 05, 2018, 11:33:04 PM
I hold a little bit of XRP and i think it'll do well in the future as it eventually replaces the old SWIFT system, however $10,000 is simply not realistic whatsoever. If it went to $100 i'd be very surprised!
178  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question from a newbie here on: June 05, 2018, 09:40:30 PM
Hi, just do your due diligence, check google for trusted reviews, check the team on linked-in, check social media channels and look if any big fish are following/promoting them. Check the grammar and spelling on the website- as pedantic as it may seem, for me that is one of the biggest giveaways of a scam.

A lot of it boils down to trust, if it seems dodgy then most likely it will be.

Hope this helps  Wink
179  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What I Should Know Before i Start Trading Cryptocurrency on: June 05, 2018, 08:01:18 PM
Hi, unfortunately it is not as simple as hodl or sell, i learned the hard way when I first started out and although i got 'rekt' (as they say!) i learned some valuable lessons! Dont make the same mistakes as I- though weirdly, they are a harsh learning curve!  Cry

1. I dived in blindly thinking that everything was going to keep on rising forever- of course its not and i realised that soon enough!
2. I didnt do any research of what projects i was getting into- best way to find out is to DYOR (do your own research) thoroughly
3. NEVER buy at an all time high (ATH) or you will be hit with a harsh reality.
4. Don't FOMO (fear of missing out) into a coin just because its moved 5-10% or see above for what happens  Roll Eyes
5. I dont profess to be a Technical Analysis expert, but basic knowledge of this will give you an inkling of whether the coin is going to move up or down, for example if it has risen lots over the past few days/weeks- expect a retrace. Conversely, if a coin is sitting in an accumulation zone then load up!

These are just a few of my basic tips, there is so much to learn and eventually you will get the hang of it. Until you find and perfect some basic trading fundamentals you are gambling blindly. Please take care and i wish you well.  Wink
