Hope this will be better than NODE .....

They'd have to try really hard to make this an even bigger mess. No offense but that thing really was nothing but a mess.

android app can not open camera when you use "QR"--"scan"

Thank you very much for your quick participation in the Beta testing.
Please pay attention to the introduction on where to report bugs and onto "Phase D: Report bugs" on how to report a bug, thanks.

@cyberhacker, basically, can we get you to list your android version and phone model on github?  https://github.com/NewEconomyMovement/NEMAndroidApp/issues

don't forget to put your nem address in the bottom :-)

Maybe people who wanna test should also join slack or telegram (check jabos signature for links).
163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT plus and negative on: February 11, 2016, 07:29:43 AM
It's all about adoption. You can have killer features all you want. If noone uses them you might as well not have them. Without widespread adoption any alt - no matter what features it has - will stagnate or fail alltogether at some point.
This is the crux of pretty much the entire altcoin scene and I haven't seen any project geaining adoption on any significant level so far.  I'm happy to be corrected on that though Smiley

How exactly does that voting system work though ?
It's funny that once can give 3 votes at once Smiley

I'm sorry to interrup the discussion but is there any technical documentation where i can read up on the second password feature and how exactly it works ?

https://blog.crypti.me/an-introduction-to-our-multi-signature-implementation/

Thanks. I was under the impression that it was an additional feature besides multi-sig.

Maybe we should get in contact with VALVE, as far as i know they're open minded for new technologies after i had a smalltalk with Gabe Newell at Gamescom in 2011.
We could give it a try.

Yeah that would be awesome but I doubt VALVE would partner up. If anything they'd introduce their own alternative currency. I actually think they have some sort of tokens but I don't know what exaclty you can do with those. You can't buy games with them though.

If anyone has contacts though - please reach out Smiley

I invested in NEM back at the creation, but have never claimed my share, and still have my secret token. How can I redeem my NEM?
You basically lost it as it expired close to one year ago.
Surely there must be some way to redeem it and my amount is still sitting in the pool somewhere. When I invested originally I never saw it advertised as time-restricted or anything. You can check my name on the original list.

There is no way to redeem it because none of those systems ar in place anymore. There was a portal setup for that. If we let 1 redeem we open the floodgates.
Also I don't think anyone still has "the original list". I deleted all my copies of everything related to redemption with a huge smile on my face knowing that it was finally over.

ok i´m there  and i have my private key but i don´t know my NEM adress ?

i only want to use my NEM wallet since for 5 months...

No need for your address. Just import your key and it'll know your adress.

173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: February 07, 2016, 11:32:33 AM
Hallo,

For anyone wondern...He's just having trouble with NCC. No new problem either.

Article on ZDnet japan talking about Namespaces & Lightwallet:
http://japan.zdnet.com/article/35077470/

this should gain momentum soon.

I think they got the path wrong. Shouldn't it be ":" to declare assets and not another "." ?
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: February 05, 2016, 07:26:12 AM
The price of namespace is really terrible. 50K is not 30 dollars.
If I buy now, and one day 1 XEM = 1 euro , I will have to live with the thought that I spent 50K euros, or 500K, if one XEM is 100, then I spent 5 Million euros.  Smiley

That argument doesn't make any sense. Ask the guy that bought that pizza with bitcoins. If you don't wanna risk it then don't buy a namespace. Also you didn't pay 1 EUR per XEM for the XEMs you payed for that namespace with right ? So you didn't pay 50k EUR.
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: February 05, 2016, 07:18:14 AM
i saw somebody is asking this:

"sorry. I am confused.

if mosaic is going to create customized assets.

then what will ppl do with mosaic assets? any built-in exchange to help buy/sell or distribute them? like nxt or bts did in their system?"

It is a token. You can do a lot with a token. Like ticketing, loyalty points etc

You can request your token to be traded in an exchange.

AE has taken a back seat. In any case there is too much scam in an AE and thus should be avoided.

How scam is prevented in mosaics? How are mosaics different from nxt assets in scam point of view? Both are decentralized systems and scammers can do what they want with them. Correct me if I'm wrong, but i'm not seeing big difference.

Scaming is harder because there is no marketplace. No buy/sell-orders. Which imho has more downsides than upsides but I'd rather see it implemented in an improved manner later than right now and it's just the same as in NXT and all the other AEs that are basically copies of NXTs.

Even if there was a marketplace scaming would be harder because of namespaces. They are unique. So no more NEMStake with the id 1241254215151 and then another NEMStake with the id 5436262467427247. Noone reads those ids (as proven by all the people that got scamed with that one) and they shouldn't have to.
Once you're established as a trustworthy person you have a well known namespace.

Let's stick with a NXT example.

James could have jl777 as a namespace. 90% of people would trust all assets that belong to that namespace with their life.
There could be jl777.projects:supernet, jl777.projects:pangea and what not.
Noone would be able to scam anyone with similar assets like jl7777.projects:pangea because people can see that the namespace-paths aren't the same (and they can without looking up some id that noone can remember). I mean you can still have a bad day and not see that 4th 7 but it's imho still a big improvement over having to look-up ids because you can't trust the name anyway.

I'm sure NXTs AE has improved a lot since i last checked it out so I'm not trying to trash it. Just taking it as a reference as it's prob the most well known one.

How are projects being developed on the private chain going to influence the value (and then price) of XEM? Could somebody elaborate on this? How are the two chains linked and is there an immediate way in which value added to private chain will translate to value added to XEM?

THX! After having been very harsh on this project, I must say I'm impressed with the behind the scenes work towards real world integration - I am forced to reconsider my previous position. Congratulations to the team so far.

same question here.

but it applys to ripple as well.

I've only been here a few days and am no authority on anything XEM

However I remember something about smart contracts (once implemented) traversing the private mijin chain and the public NEM chain.
There is more generally the cross-pollination of development between the networks, and their potential synergy. Where necessary or suitable the private and public chains may communicate.

This is my understanding.
Please correct me if wrong.

Sounds pretty accurate to me.
There's also the thing that mijin isn't going to be free. So any company that can live with the downsides of a public blockchain can have mijin for free by simply using NEM. The APIs are 100% identical so if they tested mijin (i understand there are a bunch of trials running right now, i think i saw the number 50 a few pages back) they can resue all their previous code.

I have an original stake in a wallet with the keys, but I've never managed to get the client working on my Mac or PC. Is there a way to access them without having to install the Client? Not sure what to do with the files downloaded from Github. As you can tell I don't really know what I'm doing, but would like to access the coins.

Try the lightwallet. Can't do much wrong there http://bob.nem.ninja/lightwallet-standalone-1.7-cdn-nginx1.8.zip .

You can also try http://bob.nem.ninja:7777 but it's recommended to run it locally for security reasons. bob is a node run by a dev though so you should be fine there.

Thanks, seem to have Lighwallet running, and I've read the tutorial on the site, am I meant to choose one of the hosts or use the custom node? Not sure what the different host names represent.

I guess it's best for you to choose one of the listed hosts. Try to stick with the same host because local storage (which is where your wallet will be stored) works on a per domain basis. So if you switch host you're gonna have to re-create the wallet (which isn't a big deal so long as you have the priv-key and/or password handy).

Question:
How do you register a new Namespace if you are a Mac user ?
I'm asking that as I'm not sure if you need the lightWallet version to do that (not available for Mac), Am I right ?
I'm having troubles to do that with the latest 0.6.73 version installed.
I can see the Namespaces and Mosaics menu available, but the 2 "New Namespace" and "New Mosaic" Buttons are not working. And my Client is synchronised.
Could be a silly question, but I didn't find any explanation on the NEM guide and FAQ on the official website.

hi , same question here. those two buttons are not working.

always latecomer for mac user

I fired up & fully synced a wallet (which was fast btw) and noticed that too but i didnt transfer 50k+ funds to that wallet yet.
Perhaps the buttons come to life when you have enough XEM? if not then they're not working

The namespace features aren't implemented in NCC yet. Only in the lightwallet. Those buttens are mere placeholders.
