161  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-01-06] Death & Bitcoin: How I Prepared My Family’s Digital Inheritance on: January 18, 2017, 05:48:35 AM
It's good to know this. Bitcoin now can be an important asset like gold or silver. So it is important to include it in the will for the eventual distribution of your assets.
162  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2017-01-14]Nigeria Warned its Citizens About Onecoin and Bitcoin This Week on: January 18, 2017, 05:45:46 AM
What is OneCoin? must be a scamcoin. There are so many scam coins out there, and should be banned. But bitcoin is all different, it has many business and service support.
163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: January 18, 2017, 05:43:24 AM
For second distribution, do we need to "register" our byte address at all? or all the outstanding byte addresses will be used for distributions? I ask this because some (though small number as byteball is new) addresses may be dead addresses (lost, deleted etc).

Yes you need to "register" your address to get blackbytes, but if you only want byteballs you don't need to "register" your address. All byteball addresses will be included in the second distribution and get extra byteballs without "registering". However to get extra blackbytes you need to "register".

To receive new blackbytes, you have to send your bytes to your own address the transition bot tells you. This is a technical necessity and can't be avoided to receive blackbytes. For new bytes you must do nothing, it's only necessary if you want to receive blackbytes! (who would not?  Grin)

Not sure I understand it, if I receive byte and blackbyte in the first round, why I can't be sent the two on the second round? Why I need to "register" my address? If let's say I did not move the byte and blackbyte received.

165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Time to Face Reality in 2017 ... on: January 18, 2017, 05:38:07 AM
Who said bitcoin is not the future? It is the future, except that it will not replace fiat due to that there are limited amount. Bitcoin is the cybergold, which will always keep and potentially increase in value.
166  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Taxes and mining on: January 18, 2017, 05:34:32 AM
In US you have to pay tax on the bitcoin mined. See discussions in the other thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1579981.msg17495312#msg17495312

my understanding is that mined bitcoin is like granted stock vested, you have to pay tax at that time.

169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: BYTEBALL: Totally new consensus algorithm + private untraceable payments on: January 17, 2017, 04:35:30 AM
Exchange bot that allows to exchange BTC to Bytes and vice versa

The exchange is as easy to use as ShapeShift.  No registration required.  To buy Bytes, you start the chat, send Bitcoins, and a few minutes later you receive the Bytes.  Same for selling Bytes.  You can also create a pending order and hope to get a better deal.

The bot is running on testnet now, see the link at https://byteball.org/testnet.html (you'll need a separate wallet for testnet).

The exchange is trustful, it holds customers' funds, even if it is for a short time.  To minimize risks, the exchange runs through TOR, which makes its IP address unknown to the attackers.  Since it operates in chat and doesn't have to accept incoming connections, you can run the exchange bot even in your bedroom, with the added advantage of being behind NAT.

As another measure to minimize its liabilities and the associated risks, the exchange bot discourages pending orders that are too far from the market price by allowing withdrawals only in the opposite currency and by allowing to modify the order's price only when it accelerates its execution.

Full source code and install instructions are at https://github.com/byteball/btc-exchange.

Please test the exchange on testnet by clicking its link at https://byteball.org/testnet.html, any feedback is appreciated.

The exchange is now running on livenet, the link is at https://byteball.org.
Don't trade large amounts, this code is only 1 week old.

Good job. Is there a market for blackbyte / byte or blackbyte / BTC? If not, can users create any two pairs they want, or you have to create them?
170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: IOTA on: January 17, 2017, 04:32:36 AM
I basically ask whether there is a way to have a IOTA-enabled machine running in the corporate LAN, or in a home network behind a NAT router..? How peer-adding needs to be done in that case?

I suppose that is a common scenario, so there should have been discussions about that. Many (I would assume - the majority of) IoT devices will run in a private LAN, being protected by NAT firewall, so botnets cannot infect them. So if we want IOTA wallet to run on them, they need to be able to connect to other nodes outside the LAN, and (the most tricky part) the nodes outside the LAN need to connect to them! With current manual peer-discovery (where the other peer needs real public IP:port to connect) it could be tricky. Opening a static mapping for any single IoT device could be a tiresome task for the net admin. UPNP then? But does IOTA client have a UPNP? Could anyone point me to some discussion or paper about this?
yes, you can run the wallet behind a NAT router http://iotasupport.com/tutorials.shtml

Very kind of you Smiley. But I see not a single page on those tutorials answering my questions above, or even touching that topic (running without static ip is completely different topic). Is there anybody here who is familiar with network administration and can answer my questions/concerns? I suppose there should be one... Undecided

The nodes outside of the lan don't have to connect to you, if you want run a local node/wallet. They only have to know your public ip in order to "allow" your access.
But the nodes you are connecting to have to be public, of course...

Edit: if you want to make your computer public available you have to configure your routers routing tables.

Thanks a lot for the answer! So the two nodes behind different NAT servers have no chance to connect. If I have my PC behind a NAT, and have no access to router to configure it, I have to search for peers running on public machines only...
It looks like people should specify whether whey run public IP or not, when they ask for nodes in nodesharing channel... so there will be less issues.

One more question: lets say I have access to router, so can forward traffic to my PC, but I do not want to forward all the traffic. Which port should I forward, so IOTA wallet can be connected from outside? In other words, which ports IOTA uses? Is it one port or many? TCP or UDP?

Thanks for help. I know if this goes to technical, I'll have to go to Slack... Smiley

I did not try IOTA, but with byteball there's no problem to run within a subnet, behind the NAT. The nodes communicate well and have no issue. Maybe I should try IOTA for that too.
171  Economy / Gambling / Re: 1x฿it.com - Most Competitive Sports฿ook & Casino | ฿est Odds & Wagering Options on: January 17, 2017, 04:24:45 AM
Those are strong accusations and something I find too much to believe. It is very easy to make a new account in this forum, photoshop edit some images and accuse a service of something fraudulent. But this should not be taken lightly and the person making the accusation should make a formal complaint. We should also know who you are. It is very hard to trust an anonymous person because we do not know what the real motives are.

I don't have to prove myself to you. Unless you're the commissioner of the internet or of the gambling commission whom issued their license.

1xbit knows who I am and that's more than enough.

And I clearly stated what my motive was: to get the odds that I was confirmed to have received

It's interesting that you talked about this. I bet a few times there and never notice this kind of issue. I will definitely pay more attentions and take screenshot when I bet. But I'd be surprised if this could be changed, as for site like this reputation is the most important thing. And so far I did not see anything alarming.
172  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Taxes on Bitcoin on: January 17, 2017, 04:10:59 AM
people from all over the world are buying bitcoins and no one is paying taxes at all ,maybe the big whales are paying taxes and even they are waiting for the price hike and and when they buy it and split it in such a way that they do not have to pay taxes a lot .

You probably not in US. In US exchange will report your sales to Internal Revenue Service, it's like selling stocks, you are liable to tax and can't avoid it unfortunately.
173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why some people prefer Bitcoin over fiat ? on: January 17, 2017, 04:08:24 AM
Bitcoin is private, secure, transparent, tamper-proof, easy for international transfers. All these are much better than fiat. Of course I don't think bitcoin will replace fiat due to its limited quantity.
174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin, is it worth spending time collecting it? on: January 17, 2017, 04:06:08 AM
Bitcoin is cyber gold, so absolutely it is worth collecting. Now give up daily job? possibly no. It is like gold, everyone wants to collect, and for long term.

Where the shark , let's pump ..hahaha

TRUMP wasnt supposed to be a steady mover. Its a joke coin and will never see a pump, unless I give it a boost.

He wasn't supposed to win the Presidency either. Continue underestimating..

Completely agree. With virtually no news media support and win, it is a big deal. Trump will lead USA to new victories, ineed make America great again!
