161  Other / Politics & Society / Re: MTGOX sued by COINLAB for $75 million on: May 18, 2013, 06:50:46 PM
A good way to look at is is for every dollar spent on a Bitcoin, they can now loan out $9 less because they have a 1:9 lending ratio limit. Therefore it is in the banking system's best interests to either control or destroy Bitcoin and or cryptocurrency as a whole.
What does this have to do with it?  If global citizen A buys a dollar's worth of bitcoin from global citizen B, the number of dollars in the world hasn't changed.  Your statement here would only be true if it were a member of the global banking system that was purchasing bitcoins from a non member.

It subverts value from the carrier the fed controls to the carrier they don't. It cuts the immediate puppet strings they're wielding, though they can still elicit control by more circuitous means, as tecshare points out. It's still a wrench in their works, and the hammer has begun to fall...bam, double tool metaphor.
162  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: When will Butterfly Labs (BFL) run out of money? on: May 13, 2013, 06:46:30 PM
In before all the BFL devices shipped thus far are just frankensteined Avalons.
163  Economy / Goods / Re: almost free electricity ($0.0223 per KWh) ALMOST FREE! on: May 09, 2013, 05:41:27 PM
Are you certain there isn't a delivery charge on top of demand and usage charges? That's how all my power bills have worked. The rate per kwh out the door is the sum of usage, demand, and delivery charges, and typically delivery dwarfs the other two.

yea, I was schooled in this if you read back in the thread.  The original title for the thread was "get electricty for $0.01 per kwh".  So yes, the distribution is HUGE and included.  Sort of like your avatar.

I read it, but I have always encountered electric rates as a combination of three rates; usage (base rate per kwh), demand (increase in rates based on time-of-day usage), and delivery (applies to all usage). Beyond this, there are taxes. If you are getting $0.0223/kwh out the door, that is phenomenally cheap. Just make sure that is your actual rate out the door.

On a side note, I hope your equipment is well insured. Some fucktard is burning that place down within the year. Growing dope well involves a lot of power, a lot of water, and a nice mix of propane burners.

That is all sorts of fucked. Tsk tsk, coinlab...and that's coming from a man that despises gox. Court is for pussies. If they were real men, they'd challenge them to a game of Magic.

Seriously though...terrifying. It's only gonna take one overzealous judge to put us all in rebel territory.
166  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Should I cancel my BFL 4/2/2013 Order? on: April 30, 2013, 10:58:36 PM
So much fail in the above post, I don't even know where to start.

I have an idea Tehfiend, if you are so offended, why not ask for a refund?

So much douchebag in the above post, I don't even know where to start.
167  Economy / Goods / Re: WTB: Fishing Gear (rods, reels, tackle, etc) on: April 30, 2013, 12:07:16 AM
I'll be posting what i have this weekend. Large collection of various fishing equipment.

Did you get your list cobbled together?
168  Economy / Goods / Re: AR 15 Lowers on: April 26, 2013, 06:12:35 PM
Out of curiousity, how many of these letters have you seen?

Tactical Machining posted theirs.  So there's one.

Well I'll be damned. I've never encountered one before, but I've never purchased any boutique blanks.
169  Economy / Goods / Re: AR 15 Lowers on: April 26, 2013, 05:42:34 PM
There is no way that the BATFE is going to agree that bolting one half to the other half constitutes 20% or more of the process of manufacturing a lower.

That much is true...that's why I want to see plans. 80% receivers still require machining, which bolting definitely is not. That said, I have no idea how you could implement a bolted lower. More info, OP!
170  Economy / Goods / Re: AR 15 Lowers on: April 26, 2013, 05:24:38 PM
Yes, it's known that an 80% receiver is able to be sold with no licensing or shipping restrictions, and can be machined by the person who purchased it, for a completely legal firearm.

You're saying that this method is similar. It is nothing more than 2 blocks of aluminum (almost like the 80%), and requires some assembly before it can be used (just like the 80%).

Generally manufacturers of 80% lowers have a letter from BATF stating that they looked at their plans and a prototype and have approved it as an 80%.

Where's OP's BATF letter?

Out of curiousity, how many of these letters have you seen?
171  Economy / Goods / Re: Solar panel systems for BTC / LTC --- interest levels? on: April 26, 2013, 03:36:02 AM
the ROI on that kinda stuff is pretty high, if you brought this out when GPU mining first started it would be worthwhile, but now with the advent of ASICs which run off low watts, its not all that valuable of a service.

The amount of electricity it generates doesn't change based on what it's running. Watts are watts, be they ASIC or GPU or FPGA.

I'm not in Australia, but I think it is a great idea.

Look at the first google result for 'AR receiver blanks'.

Do you know if there are pistol blanks available too? I don't need an AR but it would be cool to make a pistol.

BTW: Where have you been? I haven't seen you post for a looong time.

Was living in a cabin in the woods in Texas for a while, foraging for all sorts of food and mushrooms, ripping huge gar and catfish out of the brazos, and shooting feral pigs. There were a lot of guns and Lone Star. Tecshare dragged me back in by telling me how volatile things were...needless to say, some safe wallets were dusted off for this playground.

I smell coffee and donuts.

BAFTE compliant in most of the US, my man.

fly rods and reels (if you've got a #5 or so pack fly rod that breaks down shorter than 24", you can have your way with me!)
hand tied flies

A man after my own heart.

I got a Sage #5 VXP I could cut into 24" pieces for the right coin.  I'll throw in the duct tape and super glue to put it back together, gratis.  Of course I'll probably be struck down by the fishing gods and never catch a fish again in my life.

What are you looking for, fly wise?  A mixed collection, or specific patterns?  I might be tempted to break out my tying trunk.  It's been a loooong time since I spun that magic.

Tight lines,

Fuse

Nice!

I've got a good story about Sage..was camping on the San Gabriel river yanking out little rainbows, took a dose and was tripping my balls off by the time sunset hit. The bats came out and I was just standing in the middle of the river casting downstream with thousands of bats swooping past me eating the hatch, and every time I would cast, they'd all lift up to go after my fly. It was pretty mind blowing until disaster struck. I ended up snapping the top 6" or so off of a bamboo Sage two piece on a fucking bat mid-cast. Was utterly dismayed for a moment, then realized that my $500 rod wasn't gone forever, it has a lifetime warranty. Brought it to the Sage store, paid $30, handed them my broken, decade old rod and two weeks later, picked up my replacement - that year's bamboo two-piece. Sage is rad.

I tie my own flies as well, but you know how it is...it's a lot of work for something that's just gonna end up in a tree or a fish. I was more just looking for variety pack that I can let friends use or throw in overgrowth instead of my fancy tackle. The ladyfriend is killing me inside every time I take her fly fishing. Figured someone maybe had their grandpa's collection gathering dust or something. Smiley

Sign me up as for two, pending some pics for us. What kind of manufacturing tolerances will there be from spec? Finished? Anodized?
178  Economy / Goods / Re: Come in and Trade Ammo or Talk about Guns! on: April 26, 2013, 12:43:18 AM
have a ton of S&B 115gr FMJ 9mm rounds
How much for the 9mm? I've been a bit short for awhile. Was going to buy a bunch more, but then sandyhook and gun laws shifted the prices into high gear and accelerated all the way to full retard. Might be willing to pay ~$0.40/rd or whatever the equivalent is in BTC/LTC. And whatever shipping would cost.

What brand is "S&B"?

Sellier and Bellot. It's a Slovakian company...cleanest burning ammo I've ever cycled. Springfield uses it for their proof of function/repository casings. I've put about 2000 rounds of it through my XDM without a single FTF/FTE, and I typically only clean it after 500-1000 rounds. I've used a lot of S&B long gun ammo and I love it. http://www.sellier-bellot.cz/

How much are you looking for? I took a peek at prices on auctions ending today, and all I can say is holy shit. People are buying once fired brass for twenty goddamn cents a piece. My plinking spots are liking fucking goldmines! I didn't reload when shit was appropriately priced! That said, people are frantically paying $0.50+/rd for shitty brands like wolf and american eagle and federal all day...http://www.gunbroker.com/Ammunition/BI.aspx. I should have stocked up more!
179  Economy / Goods / WTB: Fishing Gear (rods, reels, tackle, etc) on: April 25, 2013, 07:34:03 PM
You heard right! Mushroom season is running behind this year, so I'm fishing up a storm while I wait for the foraging to pick up. I try to fish every day, so I go through a lot of gear...Lemme know what you've got lying around and I'll make you an offer.

I am buying pretty much anything you'd use in freshwater, mainly gamefish, but I'm not averse to panfishing gear (think bass, walleye, northern pike, muskellunge, trout, blue/yellow/channel cats, alligator gar, etc.) I'm also very interested in snagging any antique rods, reels and tackle - especially tackle - you may have gathering dust in your basement. Turn your garbage into that cash money, homies!

Looking for:
quality baitcasting reels
rods of mid to high quality, any length, size, and cut (currently really looking for a 2 or 3pc med-heavy around 7.5')
fly rods and reels (if you've got a #5 or so pack fly rod that breaks down shorter than 24", you can have your way with me!)
plastics
Rapalas
spinnerbaits
panfish lures
hand tied flies
topwater poppers and frogs
trot and jug-line tackle
throw nets
Vexilar
snagless/drag weights

I'm way interested...been growing a single cut of Cascade over the past five years or so, and it's yielding such a ridiculous amount now, plus it's beautiful. Time to expand!
