161  Economy / Economics / Re: How can it be possible coping with one source of income on: February 24, 2024, 11:20:10 PM
Perhaps you’ve heard of inflation. It eats the value of your currency notes overtime so much that the purchasing power of an amount of money saved over a period of 7-10 years would lessen and wouldn’t be the same as at the time you saved it.
Perhaps that’s why you’re starting to find it difficult to pay bills and get other things done despite doing just that for the past several years.
Your income was just enough to cater to your bills and expenses. Now, with the constant rise in prices of goods and services, they’re simply not enough.

You also don’t fully know the financial situation of those people you look at and think they’re doing just fine and paying bills with a single income as they also did before. You’ve been assuming.
Comparing yourself and financial situation with others is plain dumb. Their household isn’t your household; along with differences in lifestyle. You need to focus more on yourself and forget about the income levels of other people.
162  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling mistake repeated by the gamblers on: February 24, 2024, 10:19:21 PM
People can spend their money as they want. We live in a world where everyone is accountable for their responsibilities at the end of the day. We can't blame people who try their luck at gambling.

People do spend their money however they want but refuse to be accountable for their actions that brought about consequences. A lot of people that should ordinarily be mature would try to evade being responsible for his own actions. Money spent willingly on gambling and later losing out would be the fault of everyone around except the actual person who did the playing.

We can’t fault anyone who’s old enough and wants to play with their hand earned money. Where the problem lies is when after playing and losing out, such player, perhaps feeling a bit too emotional after losing, lashes out at everyone and everything around being the cause of his losses.
Although players must be mature enough and mostly over the age of 18 to play, a lot of players has failed to become responsible enough.

163  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The shocking rate of women interested in gambling. on: February 24, 2024, 09:54:00 PM
It’s not alarming. Not even surprising to see women participating more in what would have been classified decades ago as a man dominated activity. Your topic head certainly has an alarming tone to it but when going through the topic, I failed to see just how alarmed you are to see women now doing what they want.

You’ve noticed the gradual increase in numbers over the years so it shouldn’t be alarming as it’s barely a new thing; really. Also, with society gradually changing over the years, women are not subjected to the background anymore and are free to indulge in and enjoy any activity they fancy. Little to no societal stigma and no expectations expected from anyone anymore on how to behave.
164  Economy / Economics / Re: If being a graduate is the key to being wealthy, why are there poor graduates? on: February 24, 2024, 09:21:21 AM
Having an education and the certificate that’s comes from it doesn’t guarantee one a job. While your degrees may shows you’re certified and have the necessary educational qualifications for an opening, it still may not be enough for the employer.
Most job applicants applying has the basic educational requirements needed hence the employer may decide to use other methods in his selection process which could lead to weeding out applicants with high grades.

I don’t think anyone ever said being a graduate is the key to being wealthy.
165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether Confirms Extensive Collaboration With DOJ, FBI and Secret Service on: February 24, 2024, 05:36:27 AM
I guess this move was, in a way inevitable and people may have very well predicted a collaboration with some government agencies.
Being a stable coin, it is bound (as it did) to attract crypto enthusiasts who would only be too happy to hold USDT while diversifying their holdings. You wouldn’t have to fret about the value as it’s steady and perhaps due to that reason, it has become popular, widely used and over time, somewhat dependable.
Holding USDT was more or less the same as holding USD on your person. Now with this collaboration, your USDT  could be monitored, blocked and your funds seized.

But does the Fed even need a reason to freeze anyone's wallet nowadays? To me, they don't; they just make a reason and pronounce anything they want illegal, and that's it.

They obviously would need a reason to seize peoples funds.  It may not be a reasonable one nor an outright just one, but they’ll state a reason and wouldn’t care much if you understood or find reasonable, their reasons.
166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is it too advanced to get into Bitcoin now? on: February 24, 2024, 04:32:11 AM
Bitcoin has patiently withstood negative predictions and influence by nay sayers. Seeing as bitcoin looked promising despite all odds, they became interested and wanted to know then if it was too late to have and hold some. By 2019, a decade after the arrival of bitcoin; people, not oblivious to its growth and dominance, again wondered if it was too late to have and hold some. 2024 would also have people who are witness to the growth and the dominance bitcoin has wonder if it’s late to have and hold some.

And the answer has been always been the same . It’s not too late to do so. There are people still watching by the sidelines and would probably ask in a year or two if it’s still too late.
You can not only buy a ticket today, you also decide the amount you want to buy said ticket with. It now rests on you to take the next step.

Just do it!! Nike would probably agree with me on this.  Cheesy
167  Economy / Economics / Re: How many Branches of Economics is there? on: February 24, 2024, 03:47:37 AM
There are several forms of economics and rightfully so as economics is quite broad. Studying economics, one would note the several forms of economics are quite different from each other. Economists over the years has had different views and approaches hence different views, approaches and theories.
Economics is really vast as it examines various means on how scarce resources could be efficiently used in terms of the production of goods and services.

Come to think of it even Bitcoin has branches, have been divided into such as Bitcoin Cash, BSV and such. Its like for example religion, each branch has its followers/believers that caused these hard forks.

Bitcoin doesn’t have any branches or several forms like you mentioned. If it’s not bitcoin, you’re dealing with a completely different coin that has no relation to bitcoin. Why have several forms when the only form is awesome, going on strong and is deeply envied by all the alt coins everywhere.
168  Other / Off-topic / Re: Having a regular/steady income is important as a gambler. on: February 24, 2024, 02:12:45 AM
Good luck keeping that steady income intact when you're a gambler because once you're hooked on gambling and you get addicted, that's the first thing that's going to be affected the most, addiction destroys if not disrupts your concentration which you need when you work and with an unfocused work, you end up performing really bad which could lead you to be terminated or demoted in your work so even if we want to believe that a regular income will help you with your gambling habit, it's not going to be a good thing that will last a long time. If you have a steady income, you're probably better off focusing on that and finding other side work to supplement that income.

You gently imply that just about anyone who enters into the gambling industry later gets hooked and then addicted. Not everyone who ventures into gambles gets hooked and later slides into addiction. There are loads of gamblers today who, for the most part of their gambling history, have been responsible and mature with their gambling habits. These set of gamblers would never get addicted to gambling if they continue to be responsible about it. And as not everyone who gambles gets hooked, working and keeping a job wouldn’t be a chore.

There are lots of gamblers all over that keeps their gambling activity and other aspect of their lives separate. They don’t allow their habits have an overly effect in their lives. They also know just how important having an income is. There are still really responsible people who gamble out there. Don’t let the sea of stories on the news about irresponsible gamblers fool you.
169  Other / Off-topic / Re: Have you won a bet with your last cash? on: February 23, 2024, 04:00:45 PM
Luck definitely doesn’t come all the time and that’s why it’s termed as “luck”. It just doesn’t come whenever it’s wanted.
Personally, I haven’t used and don’t think I’ll ever use my last bucks to play. But I do have a friend that have actually used his last cash on him to play and lick actually came through for him.
Feeling really down and empty, he was moved to use what was literally his last money he had on him to play and as luck would have it, his bets came out and he won a substantial sum of money. Had it been I was that religious, I would have thought some divine intervention happened to him that made him win the amount he did with the small amount of money he used to bet.
170  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How will you feel if it happens to you just like this? on: February 23, 2024, 10:00:04 AM
Obviously, one would feel bad after missing out on some life changing opportunities that would have changed your financial situation for the better. But there’s little you can do after losing out on an opportunity like that. There’s really no need losing any sleep over what may have happened. As it didn’t happen, I would try and not waste any thought on it any more than I have to. Thinking about opportunities that passed us by would only make one miserable and could turn into depression.

There’s no reason to cry over split milk. Always thinking of what may have been isn’t healthy. It’s best to move on and look for another opportunity. Opportunities are abound and it’s left for us to identify and utilize it. There’s no need to remain in the past and feel sorry about an opportunity missed.
171  Economy / Economics / Re: The increase of dollar affecting underdeveloped countries economy on: February 22, 2024, 10:01:18 PM
The dollar does not directly control the appreciation not depreciation of other countries currency. Their economic policies as well as the rate at which good and services produced that could be exported to other countries. That could in turn, determine the strength of their currency against the dollar.
The over reliance on the dollar by these countries also help put them more into the mess they’re already facing. It’s not nearly a global issue as you think it is as this isn’t a new issue.

Work on your economy, have a favorable balance of trade and put in place policies to attract new and favorable investment opportunities. Then watch your economy and currency grow.
172  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who's winning more casinos or gamblers? on: February 22, 2024, 09:35:07 PM
The casino never loses isn’t necessarily true. They’ve been cases of casinos trying to wiggle out from paying out a huge win won by a gambler. If such payments are made, it could have a significant effect on the finances of the casinos hence the move to try and withhold payment.

But I would say the casinos are the biggest beneficiaries as they’re clearly in it to make money. They’re a business themselves and definitely can not afford to run at a loss. They’re in it to make profit and hence, would ensure they get theirs. If it’s not so profitable, why do we see new casinos pop up every now and then?(some with the bad intent to gather enough customer deposits to steal and flee).
173  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The person who can’t control emotions in gambling will never earn money from it on: February 22, 2024, 08:28:30 PM
Many don't just get it, I doubt if they are really into gambling like they say, if you are someone who have power over his emotions tell us how many times you have won when you are gambling, have your control over your emotions make you always win without losing money?

Having a cool head whenever gambling doesn’t automatically guarantee you a win. If not anything, it helps one make better decisions like knowing when to stop playing and to head on home with whatever money you’ve got left.
Having good control over your emotions could also help one make better judgment that could also help the individual win in some instances. Although while it doesn’t necessarily always mean you’ll have a win all the time, having and keeping a level head makes it easier for one to recognize when it’s time to leave.

One who doesn’t control his emotions whenever playing has every tendency to chase his losses which could end up with only more losses. So having a tight grip over your emotions is extremely important and beneficial for any gambler.
174  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A famous influencer lost more than $4000 in just 2 minutes. (2) on: February 22, 2024, 04:05:34 PM
Anything an influencer does online, I would scrutinize it deeply as their words and actions are not to be taken as truth. He lost more than $4000 in 2 minutes; I couldn’t care less about any of that. He may be trying to score points for the casino or he may be trying to do something else. I wouldn’t know and really couldn’t care any less.
He’s an influencer and doesn’t do anything online that he won’t have any profits from. More likely, this “loss” is more of a publicity stunt than anything else and may be done to spread his name(and perhaps that of the casino as well) to a wider audience.

Anything that has to do with an influencer, in my opinion should always be thoroughly checked out and not believed at first glance. Most influencers only work/act in their own best interests.
175  Other / Off-topic / Re: Don’t play gambling with drugs or in half sleep on: February 22, 2024, 11:31:31 AM
It is not necessarily wise to impair your ability to judge or think clearly with the help of drugs or/alcohol when gambling or doing any kind of activity that would require some level of thinking or/concentration.
Doing recreational drugs and gambling are two separate activities that should not be combined together. When high on drugs, your mind doesn’t function as it should and your actions when gambling could lead to more financial losses as you wouldn’t be having rational thoughts.

If you want to get wasted, go for it. But don’t indulge in any other activity while you’re wasted. You most likely, would later regret such actions when you’re back to your normal senses.
176  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Couple won the jackpot but split soon after! on: February 21, 2024, 06:16:24 PM
It is said time and time again that money brings out the best or the worst in all of us. And with this article detailing this story, it’s once again proven to be true.
After reading the article, I’m inclined to side with decision of the new owners. The woman bought the winning ticket with her money and is entitled solely to the win. It’s now left to the woman to decide on how and what to do with the money.
Apparently, she decided to do away with the man for her own reasons. While I don’t think it’s that cool or nice to dump one after suddenly being rich, it’s her choice and decision to do so.

The man has very little to go on to be able to make a case for the money to be split.

179  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you gamble because you don't have sufficient money? on: February 16, 2024, 06:02:40 PM
Games should just be fun, and the money you earn in them should be considered a bonus for that fun.

You should always play very responsibly, winning is really cool and it's always good to have extra money, but this is not a guaranteed job and should not be seen as such.

I like playing plinko, I even play it sometimes, but whether you lose or win, it doesn't matter, the important thing is not to let yourself get addicted.

I know lots of people that would disagree with your opinion. Games are really played for fun but the prospect of winning some money brings people back to play every time. If it’s just for fun, people would lose interest quickly after playing a particular game for a while. For some, the wins are considered a bonus for playing. For others, the wins are primarily their target and the excitement and fun comes in second.

Gambling is not a job, not less a guaranteed one. And gamblers who take up the activity solely for “earning” money would find out soon enough.
180  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: AFCON 2023 on: February 16, 2024, 03:51:36 PM
There is a school of thought that suggests that Nigeria lost the AFCON finals because of their lack of fighting spirit and patriotism to their country. The blame is cast on the management  for prioritizing foreign based players more than home grown players. The Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa also share the opinion. Looking at the team, apart from the goal keeper, Nwabali, I don't think there is any other player that has his football history in the country.

Patriotism to one’s country doesn’t help its players to win games. People would seek to appropriate faults when the desired outcome isn’t met. The players that was fielded played their very best and came out second place in the tournament. Although the desired results wasn’t achieved, second place is not a bad spot to finish.
Also, Ahmed Musa isn’t the captain of the super eagles, William Ekong is. And he carried and managed the lads just fine. A pity they didn’t win the cup.
I bet if they had won the tournament, this “school of thought” that you probably agree with wouldn’t have ever surfaced.
