161  Economy / Gambling / Re: BITDICE - 🎲🎲🎲 ICO ANNOUNCE 15 AUG 2017! JOIN THE TRANSFORMATION! 🎰🎰🎰 on: September 03, 2017, 10:04:09 PM
Adding altcoins would definitely help you reach a wider audience.
Quoting my post because I'm not sure whether you've noticed it or not.

Didn't you notice that bitdice has some altcoins already like doge, eth and ltc? If you noticed it already so what altcoins you want to suggest to be added on bitdice? IMO, those three available altcoins is more than enough for a gambling site.

Yep, BitDice already has plenty of alts and I believe support for IOTA may be coming soon as well. If there is big enough demand for a coin, it is possible it could be listed in the future, but most people tend to use BTC for gambling.
162  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: To Gamble or To Invest? on: September 03, 2017, 09:44:34 PM
hi guys, i bought 1BTC today and i am wondering to gamble or to invest the 1btc?

if to gamble

best site to gamble with a really nice provably fair..

and if to invest.

best investment program wherein no scam.

thank you for your opinions guys

cheers

Gambling and investing is almost the same, because both are requires risk. With gambling, there's a chance of gaining limitless amount in just a short time if you're lucky. But, it risky to bet with high amount of money because you might also lose a lot of money. On the other hand, the risk in investing is lesser because it requires knowledge, skills, time and money.

But then gambling is mostly dependent on luck for EV- games. In dice what you roll is important and not know skillfully you roll in a unbiased situation. However in trading timing and knowledge is important. It needs better skills to execute and is more challenging than gambling. In trading people can make money using their brains while in gambling EV- games it is purely the luck and not any skills.
Exactly! Gambling has nothing to do with skills or earnings. It is just a game which fools people very well. They think that gambling can give them huge profits. Investing gives us high long term profits while gambling can convert you into a beggar within few minutes.

People who feel that they can make good money from gambling are the fools as it will never give you guaranteed profits which is always possible with investing so make your own research and either invest in offline or online world from where you can feel that you can make good money out of it.

Yep, there is no such thing as guaranteed profits with gambling, hence why it is a gamble. You can profit in the short term but eventually the house edge will catch up with you.

When you invest, the house edge is on your side.

Thanks for the answer Smiley

I'm exploring the site now.  Texas Hold 'em would bring crazy traffic,  although casinos don't typically make much money from it.

Yep, poker is definitely a popular game that can bring good traffic. It is actually already on the ICO road map for Q4'18 at moment according to the ICO website.
164  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How does freeze option works in electrum ? on: September 03, 2017, 06:25:12 PM
Is there any time interval for which we can freeze, say for one year. The main poinnt is i want to hold my bitcoins for a long period and want to freeze then for 1 year so that i myself cannot do anything with them

You wouldn't be able to do this with electrum. I believe you may be able to do this with locktime, which you can read more about here:
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Timelock
nLockTime itself won't freeze the coins so that you can't do anything with them. It basically means that the transaction is not valid till a certain block or unix time. However, nodes will not keep these transactions in their mempool till the block or time ha passed. This pretty much defeats its purpose since you can still spend the coins.

You can still use it but you will have to script a transaction with nLockTime till the time and sign it but you will have to delete the private key of the address where you are sending from. If you broadcast it after the time, the transaction will be accepted and you can spend it. Its very very risky and I will highly recommend that no one do this.

Oh, gotcha. Thanks for the clarification. That indeed sounds very risky and not worth pursuing.

The best bet then is probably to just store the coins in a cold/paper wallet and store it away somewhere safe such as a safety deposit box or similar where it is not easily accessible which would help control impulse spending if that is what you are worried about.
165  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: How to delete Electrum (Linux - noob) on: September 03, 2017, 06:22:09 PM
I don't know if that works for me, because like I said I wasn't able to do the full installstion .

I use "python electrum"....

Yep, sounds like you aren't using an installed copy and you are just running it from the directory it was downloaded to.

You should be able to just remove the directory that it is stored in and it will remove it. Your wallets and configurations are stored in ~/.electrum/ so you would also have to remove that directory should you wish to remove everything. It is usually safer to leave wallet files in case you ever need them in the future though.
166  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: non derterministic wallet on: September 03, 2017, 06:18:44 PM
Hello,

I create an Electrum wallet there is 1 year ago. It worked really good but one day the wallet just change in "non deterministic wallet" It means I can't give or receive any bitcoins. My bitcoins are stuck in the wallet...

Do you know how to put the wallet in "deterministic" mode ?

Thank you and have a nice day :p

ComiCaz (From France)

(My wallet is on a Mac computer)

A "non deterministic wallet" means you likely imported private keys and aren't using addresses derived from a seed. You will need to create a new deterministic Electrum wallet with a seed and then send the funds from your old wallet into the newly created one.

You mentioned you couldn't send or receive bitcoins? Are you receiving some sort of error? There really isn't anything that should be preventing you from using a  "non deterministic wallet" as it is simply another type of wallet.

How does Bitdice plan on ensuring integrity/fairness of games?  It seems this would be difficult for an online casino.

This is done through provably fair implementations of casino games. BitDice's own games are all provably fair and the fairness can be verified. You can check the Help section on the site for all the full details on how this works.
168  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: electrum download link on official site - error on: September 03, 2017, 06:21:50 AM
The best place to report this is probably on Github at https://github.com/spesmilo/electrum/issues

I did see a recent issue were some people were having issues on OSX with 2.9.3 so it is possible it was reverted until that was addressed, but not sure.

After raising 10Millions this ICO is going to end or it will continue till another week because already dev mentioned he is looking for only 10 millions for all the further developments but BitDice is one best site till now paying to members without any problem.

$10M is minimum funds cap for this ICO definitely this will keep continue to raise more funds till the end of this countdown nothing mentioned about hard cap. No doubt Bitdice is one of the best available gambling casino so that's the reason to support this ICO because they have very big community.

There is actually a hard cap as well which is set at $25M . This is reflected in the FAQ on the main ICO page.

Where will the coins I receive be stored? On bitdice as CSNO tokens?

They are going to be ERC20 tokens so you can store them in any ERC20 compatible wallet including myetherwallet, etc.

Hello, dev!
On casino site I found only Endorphina slots.
Have you planned to add another providers, like Microgaming, Netent, Yggdrasil, Mercur?

Actually, the site has GameArt slots as well right now. But yes, according to the ICO timeline, it is already planned to add another slot vendor in Q4'17.

The total raised says 9.1m but the figures for totals show that just the btc and eth values equal that much.. not including ltc doge and iota ?

I calculate the current total invested to be about 9.5M. Almost there!!

CurrencyInvestedPriceTotals
BTC1009.876$4,575$4,620,185
LTC3461.051$62.087$214,886
ETH11960.57$379.42$4,538,078
DOGE30803341$0.001922$59,188
IOTA120319$0.848978$102,148
Total$9,534,486

Yep, the USD values of each coin isn't updated in real time. The ICO should go on regardless at this point as it is already close enough to the goal.
173  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Computer/Electrum Security on: August 29, 2017, 05:37:37 PM
if you are serious about security of your puter:
1) Do NOT use windows, use linux only. If you absolutely need windows set up a dual boot and never do anything confidential on windows
2) Learn to use partition encryption and use it to store anything confidential on all of your devices.
3) Never install any dubious software on your puter (including browser extensions)
4) Never access confidential info on an unsecure device (like any smartphone)

Nice advice so windows isn't advisable for those people who want to have a better security. So I've got a lot of things to learn first thanks for this.

Windows can be secure if you do it right, but can be more difficult to properly secure. It is also a bigger target for attackers as many more people are using it so more malware is written to be compatible with Windows.
174  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Bitcoin Cash from Electrum on: August 29, 2017, 04:01:17 PM
Guys, i am now getting in the process to claim my BCC, but since i have Electrum, this is turning out to be very difficult for me.

this is what i found:
i need to transfer my BTC from my Electrum wallet A to an ELectrum wallet B, to be safe that any BCC wallet doesnt have access to my BTC.

Now, if i try to send it as a payment, electrum will charge me a stupid amount for the lowest fee setting. i am trying to do a test send receive from wallet A to wallet B, of a few euros (5 for example), and electrum will charge me 11 euros to do the transaction.

I ve read somewhere that supposedly, if i export from one wallet (A) and import to another (B), that will save me some fees. but in electrum i only see a Sweep function instead of import. also, when i click export, it generates a .csv file with a lot of addresses and keys (if i understand correctly). which one of those do i put into the sweep window? After sweeping, will i have control of all my BTC? I still cant understand if that sweep function will get me into a technical headache later. after this, i’ve read, i should be using the electrum wallet B and the BCC software (wallet A isnt necessary any more).

as you have guessed, i have no experience whatsoever with these transactions. i could just install that electron cash and just put the wallet A seed in and be over with it, but i’d rather not, because i prefer being a bit safer.

again, any help is appreciated.

You will need to send the funds from wallet A to wallet B without doing any sort of import. If you import, you end up with the same keys in the new wallet which won't protect your coins and therefore would be no different then leaving them in the original wallet.

Unfortunately, the fees are really high right now so it could be expensive to send the funds especially if you have a lot of small inputs.

The 10% deposit bonuses is ending in about one day so I'd recommend checking it out now if you haven't yet so that you are eligible for the bonus.
176  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It is not worth it, right? on: August 27, 2017, 11:51:38 PM
If you want to play luck games with a house edge against you and make money longterm it's of course not worth, but if you can afford to lose the money and spent a nice time while gambling it's definetely worth for me.
In gambling playing with the house edge ofcourse you will lose the game. Because gambling is just for entertainment for fun and not for an instant rich or will be benfits of. It is not worth it in gambling if you put your whole funds just play to entertain you.

Yeah in the long run you will likely lose due to the house edge but there is always the chance for a win in the short term.

It is much better to treat it as a form of entertainment and not try to get rich quick though. It is too easy to fall into the trap of risking higher and higher amounts until you lose it all if you are only concerned about winning.
177  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Ever regretted not gambling? on: August 27, 2017, 11:49:38 PM
Yes i have regretted just yesterday, i wanted to bet on mayweather, but in that moment i didnt have money for risk and bet Sad
I have predicted that mayweather can win Cheesy

Right, it was a good match after all. Just like you, I wasn't able to bet due to money problems but I do not regret it. I never ever had a regretful moment when it comes to gambling, I do not occasionally play and I only play for fun. Gambling and betting games are really fun and exciting but if I used big amount of money in it and then lose it. I don't think I can move on with that.

I have a specific amount whenever I play and I see to it that only the allotted amount will be used.
I know deep inside that Mayweather will win it easy and just like what we have witness he dominated the fight, however I did not think it was a great bet because the odds are really too low for Mayweather to win. I Change my mind in the last second and did not put my bet, what I did is I just enjoy the game and forget about a should be win bet.

Yeah, there really wasn't much value there for Mayweather due to the odds. That is why I went with McGregor and hoped he would win even though it was a long shot. Was pretty close though.

It is easy to regret not placing a bet after you know the result though. Hindsight is 20/20 Tongue

There is no Facebook campaign.

Hello! i am a newbie. But i have account Twitter >1000 follower. so can i join your Twitter campaign?

Yeah, as long as you meet the requirements of the Twitter rules, I don't see any restrictions to the rank of your Bitcointalk account.
179  Economy / Gambling / Re: Bitsler withdrawal pending for more than 48 hours on: August 27, 2017, 11:31:49 PM
Yeah, this issue will affect many different sites due to the network fees being so high lately. The average recommended fee is nearly 400 sat/byte right now for fast confirms. I'd also recommend trying the ViaBTC accelerator that was previously mentioned as it usually helps speed up confirmation time.

Hopefully segwit adoption helps brings these fees down as this is making Bitcoin very expensive to use.

180  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano S supports Segwit on: August 27, 2017, 11:25:49 PM
Wow, nice to see that Ledger is already pushing out Segwit support already. Hopefully we'll see support added to other wallets such as Electrum soon as well. The network fees are still crazy high so hopefully once enough people get migrated to segwit addresses, it can help lower these fees.
