161  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: Do Nigeria Politicians Use Bitcoin to move funds: Ex Gov Yahaya Bello's case on: April 21, 2024, 10:48:43 PM
It has been flying all over the news that the ex governor of Kogi State was accused of an alleged 80.2bn Naira which is equivalent to $64 million, that's a whole lot of money and I remembered what if some of these leaders moving huge are using the Blockchain and still clamp down on us? What do you think?
Do you have substantive backing to your alleged speculations or don't you know this can be seen or used by bitcoin haters to drag bitcoin saying it's a means through which illegal transactions and money are been laundry through. Anyway, if there was any thing of such then the EFCC would have without delay raise an alarm through the press. On that note, I'll like to tell you that those politicians have sources through which they launder these money they steal and not through bitcoin Blockchain.
162  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: La Liga (Spanish League) Prediction Thread 2023/24 on: April 21, 2024, 09:59:00 PM
I'm sure everyone is waiting for Real Madrid vs Barcelona. It will be an interesting El Clasico. On one side we have Real Madrid, who eliminated Manchester City in the semifinals of the Champions League. On the other side, we have Barcelona, who lost their place in the semifinals by eliminating Paris Saint Germain in the Champions League. Both teams have had a completely different week. Both teams have a very different mood. But derby matches always have a different atmosphere. Real Madrid will undoubtedly use their home advantage. I think they are the favorites in this match.
To predict the final result of an El Clasico match, we can't just look at the 2 or 3 matches that Madrid or Barca have gone through, the El Clasico tension is very high and both teams have big ambitions to beat each other

currently the El Clasico match is underway and We see the current score is 1-1, but as hosts Madrid's chances of winning are more certain than Barcelona's

In this match, Barcelona used a pretty good formation, but the strategy that Xavi used was not that special, he moved De Jong to the wing midfielder while he placed Gundongan as a central midfielder
Seriously, I wasn't expecting Real Madrid to experience the kind of difficulty they're currently facing in their game against Barcelona but unfortunately for them, that their reality at the moment. Barcelona was able to score inside the first six minutes of the game through Andreas Christensen to take a surprise lead before Real Madrid drew level when Vinicius Jr converted from the spot.
Real Madrid has been the better team regardless and if they continue to press for a win in the game, they're very likely to get a winner in the game.
Eventually Madrid got a win against Barcelona after much pressure was rekindled into the game. Barcelona isn't a small side that Madrid should at ease secure a win over them in the manner you are putting. Moreover, this is a team that are just recovering from an intensed champions league battle fatigue against Manchester City so you don't expect them to start the game tonight with an offensive approach. The crux of it all at the end is that Madrid did secured 3 points in this El'classico by Winning 3-2 and that's what count.
163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why bitcoin transactions fees gone high and will be be increasing day by day? on: April 21, 2024, 08:27:38 PM
Op the cause  is congestion in the recent halving block. A lot of persons tried as much as possible just to make sure that their transaction is added and confirmed In block #840,000 which is the most recent halving block. Therefore there was a great deal of competition for block space on the network causing fees to rise. However unfortunately a couple of users still paid those fees.
Currently the fees are still very high but according to most speculations it would probably return to normal within a couple of weeks or even less. If you observe closely you will even notice that fees are actually gradually going back to normal.

Yesterday I tried executing a transaction  worth $25 for a an urgent request, couldn't believe it when I saw the tx fees for it was $21 as charged. I had to abandon it and go for another alternative to satisfy that request. I checked again today and discovered the fees  has dropped, so yea, it's possible it won't even get up to a week or more before the fees drops to normal. Peradventure the fees doesn't normalize within the shortest time then it should be understood that there may be miners manipulation involved to rake profits to their side using the halving as a wash-up excuse.

Check this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_external_debt

United states is number one, China is number ten, Russia is number twenty nine, and Germany is number eight. It means you're wrong if you think strong economy countries aren't in debt.

Debt isn't always bad for filthy rich people or countries, watch Robert Kiyosaki how he use debt to make more money and protect his wealth.
No country that has all it needs to survive which is why all the countries of the world from all continents go into economic relaions through their foreign policy. But despite this relations a nation's level of importance and respect around the world from other countries in the international scene is greatly influenced by how strong and powerful it's economy is. But that doesn't mean that been a strong economy make sit immune to debt as there's no country without debt it's servicing. Debt isn't bad as some of us may think.
165  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How does the game of luck in gambling really works? on: April 20, 2024, 04:52:05 PM

I don't really believe this dude because such grace has not even worked for me although some of my physical trader friends sometimes says they have more customers anytime I comes around their trading centres and they love having me around.
what a weird grace, I said weird cause I don't know why I should be carry a grace or a luck that doesn't work for me but it's prefers to work for others I come across or come in contact with. Or maybe, it could be you're usually just at the right place where good things want to happen at the right time,  more like a coincidence which I think can happen. As for that your lucky friend that won money while you went visiting, it was just his lucky day and it happened still that you went to visit him, because there's no way anyone should be carry such luck or grace as you called it and it doesn't work also for the carrier. These are all coincidence.
They really happen by chance gambling depends on luck but luck is not always the same. Luck in gambling can be a combination of chance short term fluctuations and a positive mindset gamblers often adopt superstitions and rituals to attract luck. Wearing lucky charms using certain betting patterns or following certain routines before playing can create a sense of control over luck.
oh yes, I know people go such length to attract luck of winning in gamble to their hands and it's a situation I am at square with knowing fully that superstitious gamblers exist. However, for a luck that doesn't work out in favour of the luck carrier in the case of op is just what am referring to as been weird. I'll like a situation where my luck works for me more often as it works for others so I can be making my own winning earning profits from it and not just making losses.

167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have you stopped using bitcoin for small transactions completely ? on: April 19, 2024, 09:33:52 PM
Small transactions on bitcoin does not make any sense now at all. Like to make a $20 amount transaction, one has to pay about same amount, $20 in fees. This does not make any sense. Have you stopped using bitcoin for small transactions completely because of this reason ?
Despite how much of a bitcoin enthusiast that I am, I hate to say this but this is one of the limitations of bitcoin,  at this it doesn't accommodate or supoort for use by small/ medium scale or nano business  owners for transactions. A grocery store owner for instance can't make use of bitcoin right now for sales because fees could be slightly lower or higher than the amount needed for transaction.

168  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Invest small money and get big money avoid them. on: April 18, 2024, 11:10:52 PM
Greetings my fellow Naija people.

I don't know why some people are still falling into the traps of those people that will call you for phone or meet you one on one and introduce fake decentralized investment, that if you invest #100,000 you will get #200,000 within a week. Someone came to share with me that there is a BTC investment one of his neighbor introduced to him, that when he invest on it through him , my friend will get double profit from it but the minimum anyone can start with is #500,000 above, that the numbers of people they want in that BTC investment is almost complete, that he came to seek advice from me if such decentralized investment is real. But I told my friend to run alway from them, that those guys are scammers and they don't have any knowledge about BTC investment. Did I give him a good advice ? What is your advice to such person.
You see in this life aside from greed being in an ignorant position is the worst position any man could find himself. Your friend try use him head despite how him no get BTC knowledge him still sa make him ask person like you wey know the way. All this scammers prey on our ignorance, na make wen we get some of this unfamiliar calls about unsolicited business and investments, make we dey calm down get patient ask persons wey dey around us, no rush am, better thing them no the rush person to do am.

170  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: April 16, 2024, 11:01:51 PM
Whatever happened in the second leg today was a super surprise in my opinion. Barcelona and Atletico Madrid both failed to maintain their lead and they both failed to win the match and both failed to qualify for the semi-finals. I really didn't expect all this to happen, this clearly does not match what was said the previous day.

Barcelona, who had to play with 10 players from the first half, was completely unable to stop PSG players' attacks throughout the match. PSG utilized this well and in the end PSG really made their dominance clear by coming back and turning things around to 4-6. Atletico Madrid also had to accept the bitter reality, the final aggregate of 5-4 which made Dortmund qualify for the semi-finals. This is ridiculous.

Yeah the match between Barcelona vs PSG really surprised us even though in the first leg we saw Barcelona playing aggressive but in the second leg PSG managed to dominate the match and get rid of Barcelona. In other matches also Dortmund won the match, I don't know if this is just luck because Dortmund scored the 3rd and 4th goals in 3 minutes and they lead with 1 goal aggregate. Well tomorrow the Champions League still has 2 other matches what I believe is more fierce than today's match, in the first leg each team drew this means that the match in the second leg will determine who will go to the semi -finals. I can see Manchester City is a favorite team but there is no guarantee they will win.
The results of tonight's champions league games marvels particular the Barcelona vs PSG game. The red card that led to a one man down to Barcelona was a big blow in their strive to qualify. It was immediately that red card incident in the 29th mins  that PSG took over possession and dominated the game winning it  by a  1:4 scores.

Dortmund victory tonight was borne out of luck but was out of their persistence and determination addition to playing as a home team against their visitors who started the game by playing defensively instead of coming out to attack and enjoy the game. It was after ATM conceded the first goal that they came out to play by easing their defensive tactics which later led to a second goal from maatsen. A huge mistake ATM did was starting the game by sitting back at their defence line while Dortmund were doing the playing, and it was after the 2goals that ATM had to come out and that alone distabilized them that even after getting their first goal making it a 2:2 aggregate they couldn't defend the goal leading to an extra 2 goals concession. Dortmund deserve the victory they got and it wasn't out of luck. We hope to see more shocking results tomorrow from the two games, Bayern Munich vs Arsenal, and Manchester City vs Real Madrid.
171  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An interesting story and experience of a gambler on: April 16, 2024, 08:43:42 PM
Sorry for the disappointment, it's a never happy ever after real life story and I think the guy in question is a gambling freak, as in, he's a gambling addict judging by how he couldn't control himself to holdback and enjoy his money after closing his account he still went on creating another new account and got himself wasted. Fuck him for making the story not to end in favour of a gambler at least for ones.
Common man, you sound too harsh on the guy as if you have some personal beef with him. This can indeed happen to anyone.

In my estimation, the guy got carried away. It is possible that he had so much time on his hand that all he did was gamble. You know loneliness can also make someone find comfort in gambling and it doesn't mean that the person is a gambling freak. I know that when it is done without moderation it could result in gambling addiction.
Smiles! Not at all, there's no hard feelings not to mention a beef. And it's true this can happen to anyone it's just that we pray it doesn't happen to us using this experience as a reminder that gambling should be treat with a sense of maturity and discipline. Boredom could be so frustrating that loneliness that comes with it can make you want to take comfort even in uncomfortable phenomenon. I think we gamblers should also make it a culture to find other productive activities to engage into or even spending time with families and colleagues to avoid exposing ourselves to such disastrous losses.
172  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Boring Market Right Now. What You Got? on: April 15, 2024, 11:56:47 PM

The market seems pretty volatile now for the first time in a while as BTC and ETH struggle to find stable price footing.
Bitcoin is no stablecoin so you don't expect stability in a volatile coin, if you're watching out for stability you can hold your money in USDT and some other stablecoins. What you call volatility in bitcoin is just a speck of the iceberg, give altcoins a trial with your money and see what real volatility looks like. What I mean is bitcoin is less volatile compared with altcoins.

Quote
Lucky for me, I got out before it all started but right now I've gotta admit that it feels a little boring just sitting on the sidelines and not making any real moves. That said, I still have good reason not to delve back into the open market just yet. Instead, I want to try something else in the meantime. Anything else. I'd appreciate suggestions on open lucrative staking options you know, contests, and maybe competitions (that don't involve trading).
you got out at a period when other investors are piling in more portfolios into their already existing holdings because unlike you, they have the vision ahead for what is coming. It's still a good position in the current bitcoin price, so, I'll advise you buy back and hold for the coming bull run and get your mind off from all this irrelevant price fall distractions else you be left out when your mates start reaping the profits in this year's circle. Think about it!
173  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: An interesting story and experience of a gambler on: April 15, 2024, 11:31:16 PM
I thought that this was one of those stories with a happy ending. I thought it was going to end with a sentence like, "yeah, I got back at those casinos for all the losses I have ever experienced by closing my account and quitting gambling forever." Unfortunately, I am disappointed not because it didn't end that way but in his moment of vulnerability which for me is the time when he was experiencing a winning streak, he had no friend or confidante to talk some sense into him to slow down. Well, his losses has slowed him down. There is a lesson to learn and he has learned it the hardway.

174  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Patience can help alot on: April 14, 2024, 09:31:01 PM
I always say this countless times that it's easier to for a gambler to stop when winning than when he is actually on a losing spree and any gambler who has the patience and ability to find the pause button when the loses are coming then that person have truly worked on him or herself because not many gamblers know how to control that burning urge to continue chasing after those loses till you become wrecked.
You've got a point, but I stand on the contrary POV.
I feel it's a lot more difficult to stop when you're on a winning streak, because it's not everyday you find yourself in that lane, so when you eventually do, you wouldn't have the urge to stop, because you'll eventually see that day as your lucky day.
Orpichukwu,  I stand with you on your stance because it's true it's not everyday we experience winnings and for that when it eventually sets in almost every gambler in that disposition will want to maximize the winning opportunities as they keep recurring. As gambler's we all gamble in the hopes to win our bets, why then will the wins arrive and that's when I quit and leave the tables. It's easier to quit will in losing streaks than when winning keep coming, and not in the other way round as  Su-asa had pictured it.
175  Economy / Economics / Re: Counting the cost of a ww3. on: April 14, 2024, 07:08:13 PM
The the Russia - Ukraine war is one war that the global economy is on what I will call the borderline of recovery from and here is another conflict in the Middle East  region somewhat a major supplier of energy to the world. if this conflict should escalate with other major countries (which I chose not to mention) getting involved the global economy might be hit with worse recession than we are currently facing.
The present situation can force people to consider investing more in bitcoins because of some benefits like them being able to move around with their investment more easily. It can lead to higher demand of bitcoins which will exceed supply, thus driving the price upwards.
we don't know if this is what may happen but for a war outbreak affecting all nations directly or indirectly, what people will be thinking of is how they can be able to provide the essentials for themselves, things like foodsand this will force many small investors to sell so to have money to afford food instead of the opposite as you have said it. Investors that can take advantage of bitcoin under the condition of war are  government and top organisations getting to make transactionals deals with allies at ease and quick but about leading to excess supply am not quite sure.

More devasting would be for those importing nations mostly those of  Africa, against this backdrop and in extension this can also have a significant effect on the price of bitcoin not performing high as investors have been predicting in anticipation to it's halving circle of a bull run as some actors are forecasting of an indeterminate impending ww3.
177  Other / Politics & Society / Re: I disagree that each person has the right to choose their own path in life. on: April 13, 2024, 09:36:16 PM
Parents from time immemorial has constantly want their children to be like them or go similar path in life and this is in the belief that the child will find prowess easily in life just as they the parents had done. But as the popular saying, you can force the horse to the river but can't force it to drink. Many of these children later in life  follow their own dreams as they grow to become adult.

Parents should be inclined enough to understand that forcing a child to live their own dreams other than the child own dream is similar to taking away a child's' natural right to freedom of self-determination as a human.

180  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: April 11, 2024, 07:03:45 PM
Buying of Bitcoin now it is the best time that you can buy a Bitcoin and the invest it for long time because when we entered halving I think that the price of bitcoin will skyrocket in value, so let us know that Bitcoin does not have a particular time you can purchase it and the key for long time it is when you have the opportunity to invest in Bitcoin is when you will purchase it and the serve it for long-term investment or short-term investment depending the level of your capitals and how you want this duration of your investment to last so buying a bitcoin does not have a time Factor you can decide to buy anytime you feel like

If we consider the future of Bitcoin we will not even allowed any current price of Bitcoin now to determine the goal of our accumulation that's why I still wonder why most people always expect the Bitcoin price to fall to a particular level before they could start accumulating because to me I see every price level of Bitcoin as an opportunity to keep investing because I'm not looking at the present condition but instead I'm being propelled by what the future holds for it because let's take for instance in the next 10 to 13 years the price of Bitcoin rise to $500k or above would you still consider the current price level now before buying?, so actually this is how I see the potential of Bitcoin that's why I'm not always concern about the current price.
When you have so much believe in the future of  a project the current market value won't be of a concern to you as to when and at what time you would have to be investing in it. Secondly, not all investors want to stay with the investment for a long time of 10-15yrs and it could be a 3-4yrs for them, that's why they only pay attention to the dip before they buy which for me I still view it as a strategy for them maximizing time base on the years they have set for to take profit.

Mate,  I don't completely agree with you on this. However, let the clarity be made for what should be called short term and long term Bitcoin investment, in terms of duration. Holding a Bitcoin investment is at the minimum of 4years that is one halving circle where Bitcoin normally hits above it's previous ATH. Hence, any Bitcoin investment below 4 year shouldn't and can never be called a long term Bitcoin investment just as you included 3years in your expression, every long term Bitcoin investment should be from 4years  which is a whole a a whole circle and above which is another way of differentiating long term from short term Bitcoin investment, they shouldn't be seen as a long term Bitcoin investor or a hodler and I can not comfortably call them Short term investos but will preferably call such sets of people traders.@jayjuanGee I hope am correct?
It is correct that any long term plan in bitcoin investment most be at least 4 years due to the halving circle for the investor to make profit from the bullrun, nevertheless, when I said 3-4 years long term bitcoin investment and you're disputing it that's because you are not considering the fact that there are investors that will be starting their investment after one year of the previous bullrun giving them three years left to DCA till the next halving and bullrun. 3 years is viable enough for a consistent DCAing investor to accumulate a considerable amount of bitcoin if he's doing $50 each week for 3 years to a next bullrun.  That was the angle I was thinking from that I had to say from 3-4 years could be considered a long-term investment. I should believe you now understand.
