161  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Any Withdrawal From BTC to Cash WITHOUT BANK????? on: October 21, 2014, 11:38:38 PM
Bitcoin ATM

Arent they only for selling fiat and not buying it?
Most of them will only sell you bitcoin and will not buy it from you, however there is a small number of BTC ATMs that will also purchase bitcoin. One of the first ones that did this was the ATM in Vancouver
162  Economy / Reputation / Re: Do you think BiPolarBob is crazy ?? *share your deals you did with him before* on: October 21, 2014, 11:37:27 PM
Though i wanted to mention that vouchers, codes and so on are a risky thing to buy. Accepting those things as payment or paying for them is risky as long as you cant really trust the seller. The reason is that the real buyer of those codes can, at some point in time, claim that his codes were stolen. If that happens you lose. Those claims can be done months after selling so you should be cautious in general with vouchers. Sometimes the one youre buying from bought those codes from a provider and doesnt know what will happen too. Im not saying anything about Bob, only in general. Because thats a point that wasnt mentioned the first pages of this thread that i have read.
This is very true, however I think that using VPN/VPS services by/from him is even more risky. This is especially true for a VPN.

When you use a VPN you allow the provider to potentially be able to see all of your traffic and potentially be able to monitor any unencrypted data (or even potentially encrypted data if he uses a vulnerability like POODLE). Another issue is that he asked users to provide him with a password (and many people are very lax with their password policy and will reuse passwords, this will potentially allow him to have passwords to many users' various accounts (either bitcointalk.org or other accounts - as he can see what websites you are visiting)
163  Economy / Economics / Re: Was Titanic Sunk To Kick Start The Private Federal Reserve Debt Slavery System? on: September 26, 2014, 05:02:16 AM
This is extremely far-fetched isn't? Think about it, this is at the same level or above the level of inside 9/11 job. I still claim whoever trully believes any of that is as delusional as it gets. Sure, there are hiden agendas, but you are overstretching it by a mile with these ridiculous conspiracy theories on there.
I agree. To say the least this is extremely far fetched. If you ignore the fact that someone would not want to murder thousands of people to start the federal reserve, there are plenty or arguments as to why this would not work in the first place
164  Economy / Economics / Re: Ideas to raise the value of BTC or LTC on: September 26, 2014, 05:00:30 AM
Paypal is accepting BTC for some transactions. If those sellers keep the BTC and use the BTC to pay other people, it is very positive.
When people use bitcoin to pay for things via PP, the bitcoin will not actually go to the seller. The bitcoin will go to bitpay, who will sell it and give fiat to PP. The buyer will have the same buyer protections as if they were using fiat based PP

The way this could increase the price of bitcoin is if more people were to buy bitcoin because they now have additional places to spend it
165  Economy / Economics / Re: Easiest way to make BTC? on: September 26, 2014, 04:56:59 AM
Okay, im new in this and i've been reading for a while, i've read this whole thread and decided to start posting, and from what i've gathered, there is 0 ways to make BTC outside investing with your own money... show how u guys pretend that there will be big adoption? Most people i've talked to about bitcoin, says im stupid for putting my money into this.
This is not true. As it has been posted many times, you can earn bitcoin via posting in a signature campaign. This is actually quite profitable for several users
166  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The world badly needs an independent Scotland on: September 16, 2014, 05:15:59 AM
Rubbish, you can have an independent country and have your own currency, it's just that the central banks do absolutely everything to stamp out that sort of thinking because that would directly interfere with their control over people.
This is technically true, however there are less economic opportunities with a smaller economy. Also the central banks are merely executing the laws as written by various governments, and carrying out their requests.
167  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Teen in Pennsylvania sentenced to two years for deep-throating Jesus on: September 16, 2014, 05:13:39 AM
He should be sentenced to some community service and home confinement for fair amount of time at most a relatively short stay in jail if you ask me.  This is pretty disturbing to think a judge would even consider allowing such a long jail sentence and that DA should be worried about losing his job for having such horrible judgment on the matter.

I'm ashamed to admit how hard I laughed at the pics because that is a gross act in so many ways.  But there is no way a person should go to jail for that long over something like this, that is the real crime..
I don't understand why you think he should be punished at all for this. It has been reported that he did this in protest against the church as he does not agree with the people of the christian religion.
168  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Western Union - sending limits? on: September 01, 2014, 06:38:59 PM
One other question. Sometimes when you pick up cash, the WU operator will ask for your address and phone number. Do I need to give the address that is on my Driver's License? This is a bit invasive if I want to stay semi anonymous when picking up cash.
I believe they will check your ID so either way they will have that address.

Any money transmitter will need to verify this information. You are correct, it is invasive.
169  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitstamp changed its SEPA recipient bank on: September 01, 2014, 06:37:24 PM
Just got my SEPA transfer returned to sender, when trying to deposit to Bitstamp.

It turns they changed their bank from UNICREDIT BANKA SLOVENIJA D.D. to Raiffeisen Banka d.d. and I didn't notice it (the account numbers look not that different), sending to the address saved from the previous transfers.

Lost €30 on return surcharges and rate deviations made by Unicredit.  Angry
I noticed that they changed their bank account a few months ago. I personally always confirm the deposit information/instructions prior to sending payment in case something like this were to change. (I also check for any mass/simi-mass reporting of them having problems with withdrawals - just in case).
170  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Would this benefit trading? on: September 01, 2014, 06:35:28 PM
With my experience and opinion, better to trade with PC, more visible than smartphone. Anyways it's also good application for trading, but prefer to use PC.
I agree. Trading with your phone is not the best way to do it. Your phone is only good at keeping 50% of your attention but if you are going to be trading you need to devote 100% of your attention to this task.
171  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Should trading bots be banned? on: September 01, 2014, 06:30:01 PM
Some people find them annoying and the main reason for that is because they do get misused but I don't see why they should be banned just because a small minority misuse them, it's seems they can and do play a positive roll and maybe taking that away could leave us with negative effects.
I don't understand how anyone would even know that someone is using a bot on an exchange, other then the exchange operator. I would also think that human traders would have an advantage over bots as they could potentially spot how they react to certain conditions and would know what they would do in the future if they have enough influence on the market.

179  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: All of Satoshi's bitcoins will belong to NY after 5 years of inactivity on: August 07, 2014, 04:42:19 PM
What a confusing title.  I'm thinking the OP is confused thinking they will take Bitcoin from whomever they want which is not possible.  Maybe if you playing in their overly regulated system you will have the potential of losing your money but only if you hold your money there.

You're right in that they probably can't take your bitcoin, short of you giving them your private key, possibly under duress. BUT, if you don't turn over bitcoins when requested, they CAN send you to jail for violating their laws.
The would be an oxymoron. The reason assets are turned over to the states is because of inactivity (it is plausible that the owner forgot about them - opening up a greater chance for fraud on those assets). If the government is able to find the person who owns the private keys, then the "account" would no longer be "inactive"
180  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Recover Bitcoins stolen from Coinbase on: August 07, 2014, 04:33:23 PM
Your coins are your responsibility. Not leaving a significant amount in the hands of a third party is a pretty basic thing.
+1

It is your own fault for giving your coins to coinbase in the first place. This is the nature of bitcoin.
