161  Economy / Exchanges / Re: All my savings on BKEX are gone. on: February 02, 2024, 03:58:26 PM
Sorry to hear that you lost your investments in BKEX.

This is the reason why we ought to do proper research before investing and using some exchange platforms. Although, sometimes our research may even fail us, so, it's a lesson to be learned.

The BKEX itself has been alleged to be involved in wash trading, fake volume, and so on. And honestly, what's way worse than losing your savings would be believing in companies that claim they can retire them back.

I hope the lessons have been learnt though .. be very careful when choosing exchange platforms.
162  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why a large Bitcoin transaction does consume more space on the Blockchain on: February 02, 2024, 03:36:17 PM
Hello,

to my knowledge a large Bitcoin transaction does consume more "space" on the blockchain than a small BTC transaction.

Why that?

Thanks!

PS
I do know that hasing is used, e.g. to verify the integrity of a file.
Ok... You've asked an interesting question. You should have just searched it though cause the answers I'm about to give and others have given are all the same with what Google and other search engines would give you.

But regardless, Large transactions consume more space on the Blockchain cause it has more inputs and outputs than a small Bitcoin transaction. These inputs and outputs are simply the records of where Bitcoin comes from and where it is going. So, the more these records are, the more the data that needs to be stored on the Blockchain.

And then for transaction fees, it is simply the amount of Bitcoin paid as a fee for a transaction. Always from the sender to the miner confirming the transaction. It is calculated like this;

Transaction fees = Bitcoin/byte of data.

The higher the transaction size, of course, the higher the transaction  fee
163  Economy / Economics / A course worth studying ? on: January 31, 2024, 03:44:52 PM
So, I watched a video recently where the guest speaker said, that if he gets the opportunity to advise teens in high school he would tell them not to study economics, and it made me scared because I'm studying economics. So, it was like... ' Did I make the wrong choice or something? '. Moving further in the video, I realized that what he was saying and explaining had already been said by my economics lecturer before.

"Economics is a day-to-day practice and is an easy endeavor made difficult for study reasons", he usually said. Watching the video to the end, I asked myself, "If I had the opportunity to go back in time would I pick another course to study? " And the answer was ..." No". And if I have the opportunity to advise any high school student about courses to choose... I'd say "Economics". The more people learn about even basic economics, the better the economy of countries.

So, if you had the opportunity to advise people about courses to choose In University, what would it be and why?
164  Economy / Economics / Business/Entrepreneurship. on: January 31, 2024, 02:45:27 PM
A wise man once said "Entrepreneurs are problem solvers" usually looking for new ways and solutions to both existing and newly discovered problems. So, the word innovation and entrepreneurship work hand in hand and cannot be put separately

Although the words business and Entrepreneurship have been used interchangeably they aren't the same. While Entrepreneurship has to do with the indulgence and bringing up of something new despite the risk, while, business has to do with capital and profit straight up. Here, you buy other people's products and sell them at a higher price.
Both have risks, but that of Entrepreneurship spells out risk itself. Even though I can't shake off the fact that entrepreneurship is simply capitalizing on People's problems to make a profit, I can say that entrepreneurship has positively helped a lot of people.

So, if you had the opportunity to invest your money into something would it be to start up something regardless of the amount of risks that come with it, or would you rather open a business or make a simple investment into assets?

165  Economy / Economics / Re: Coping with Risk. on: January 31, 2024, 02:05:06 PM
We know that regardless of the prospect of any business or investment, understanding the risk involved in the business is an integral part of the consideration one should consider before venturing into the business and when it comes to bitcoin investment, it's very basic yo know that the major risk associated with it are just a few of the ones below which could either be issue relating to hacking, lost or misplaced seed phrase or possibly sending your crypto holding to the wrong address considering it irreversible nature.

In our normal business we have risk also that are damn much which could range from fire outbreak, stealing, bad market, spoilage and lots of other factor that makes starting a physical business very risky and to have high possibility of yielding great loss.

so my question is, which is more risky?

A). Running a physical business that has a whole lot of risk associated with it or

B) running an online investment with high risk of hack that could result in you loosing all your asset.

The more the risk, the more the return. Running away from risks won't make you richer or more prosperous... Running towards it, however, would increase the likelihood to.

Both are really great opportunities you should take advantage of. The risks that comes with physical business however aren't as much as that of online investments. Even if I'm a business personnel, I've always hated the idea and phenomenon of marketing, so online has always had my attention. It also has more risks though, but if I'm to answer your question... Then straight up, it's going to be online investments
166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Silly and scary questions, and what would you do if that were you. on: January 30, 2024, 02:36:17 PM
Sorry, I don't get why they are asking for your wallet address if it requires your public key and seed phrases to gain access to your assets. Can this please be explained?

And, if I was in this situation and they really wanted my wallet address then I'll give it to them, and tell them to send a nice amount of bitcoin to my wallet  Grin.

But please, if I'm wrong please, I'd like to know how wallet a dress would pose such a risk.
167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Paying with Bitcoin. on: January 30, 2024, 02:18:50 PM

So, after reading a thread and realizing that paying with Bitcoin would mean that you'd be paying with future returns, I went on to research the topic of paying for goods and services with Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is decentralized meaning that it can be transferred to anyone without the interference of intermediate/ central authorities. This also implies that buying goods and services would be faster and easier if more people owned and accepted Bitcoin. If Bitcoin was adopted and accepted as a means of exchange in many countries then there would be a huge improvement in various and global economies.
It'll enable more people to access financial services and knowledge, reduce the rate at which bank charges are being paid, values gotten by sellers will increase rapidly, anonymity and many others. Apart from the loss on the buyers's part, Bitcoin has lots of disadvantages which would be challenges and pose lots of unhealthy risks if adopted.

After doing my research, I came to realize that this may probably be influenced by personal choices. Because looking at it thoroughly, some people would pay for items using things like Gold, Land, and other assets. But in the eyes of a money literate, that may be totally wrong.
So, I would love to ask and get this confusion over with. Is it ok for you to purchase items with Bitcoin? If yes or no, please state your reasons so we can all learn from it.

Thank you
168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin an opportunity like land on: January 30, 2024, 01:30:19 PM
This might not be applicable everywhere but in my Country Nigeria i can attest to it.

Land price is ever growing and its supply is gradually reducing(limited supply) which has helped pushed the price more, unlike some fixed assets which depreciates in value with time.

Lands in the time of old was barely of any value. Something man just met and didn't know how valuable it is. In the past, couple of decades ago the prices of land were cheap due to its abundant supply in my country but now to buy a land is not something one can just wake up and do. Its very expensive especially in developed areas and even the rural areas increased the prices because demands is getting higher than supply. A land that could be bought for #5000($3.8 ) is been sold in millions of naira (>$2000).

This phase of growth to me could be likened to Bitcoin, while Land is in the physical realm Bitcoin occupies the digital. During Bitcoin inception its price was zero, many didn't consider its value but as times goes on the world started seeing its importance and many smart individual are holding already. It reminds of grandparents who kept their lands for years and later sold to school their kids abroad or improve the status of their family.

Now the price of land is so high that it would be difficult to get some acres by an average family but not Bitcoin. Since its divisible one can buy as little as a dollar and enjoy the privilege of fore fathers in getting their land at a relatively low cost.

Land was an opportunity for the past century and still till date, Bitcoin is one of ours. We were fortunate to be around the era where it can be bought by anyone. So try to take advantage of it.

Land owners who didn't enjoy their investment paved a great foundation for their children.
Bitcoin supply is limited like land and would continue to grow in price as inflation continues to affect the world.

In my country, especially in products gotten from lands like agricultural products, the law of gravity doesn't apply. As it rises yearly, the increase continues.

Buy now and don't start waiting for huge dip before entering. Trust me you would miss out.
There are people that sold their lands around 5 years ago and are regretting not keeping till date.
In the case of having a land, i believe leasing is better.

Its better for your regret to be not buying more than for it been not buying at all.

How's the price of land in your country?
Have you ever thought been in the time where land was cheap and bought alot?
Are you boarding the train(cheap) of Bitcoin holders or you want to wait for private jets? Grin
Always had a thing for land / Real estate, so I can say both are really good investments options.

1. I'm from Nigeria so the price of land is basically the same as yours.

2. Yes, I have. If I had the knowledge I have now about land and Bitcoin at the time they were cheap, I would definitely bought alot.

3. Definitely boarding the train, I don't want to be amongst those who would regret in the next 5 years to come.

169  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paying house rent with bitcoin is it appropriate? on: January 29, 2024, 02:17:40 PM
Glancing through the article https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-rent-agreement-argentina-landlord-tenant one would conclude adoption is striving in Argentina. Paying for a house with bitcoin sounds to me a mistake or lack of financial knowledge. Bitcoin is better than Fiat. Bitcoin increases in value and fiat faces inflation. Why then would one spend Bitcoin instead of fiat on a house rent which may expire in few years? Accommodating the Bitcoin can birth the person more money to pay his next house rent. But fiat wouldn't add any interest in the bank. Moreover, the house owner will not hold the Bitcoin.

Then it should be the same with buying things with Bitcoin as a whole.
Your thread made me realize something. Bitcoin has always been seen as an alternative, yeah, but then paying with Bitcoin for anything at all would be sacrificing future income/ interests also. So, it'll be better to convert the BTC into fiat before spending it. Then when the price pumps you won't lose your returns.

Thank you for the thread, didn't realize this till I read through. If this is so then, there's no need to fight for the adoption of BTC in my country cause even if it is adopted I won't want to pay with Bitcoin. I'd still pay with the legal currency. So, apart from the fact that the economy would improve after a while, there's no great need for the adoption of BTC, or is there?

172  Economy / Economics / Passion for skills. on: January 20, 2024, 10:41:35 AM
Hey people.

So just for fun and a little bit of insights for people who aren't into any skills yet, I created this thread. It can also serve as a means of motivation for those who haven't started learning any skills yet.

So, we all know how important skills are not only on an individual basis but also on that of the economy, and many of us without doubt are either in the process of learning or already earning from skills. Needless to say, many global brands started as a result of skills learned and used to benefit people. The creators of Adidas,  puma, Coca-Cola, Microsoft, and even sports professionals, etc all learned and practiced their skills more than enough to become the best of the best.

So, my question is very simple. What skills are you currently learning or have learned and are earning from, and what is the reason why you picked it?
173  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: The leaders of tomorrow. on: January 20, 2024, 10:20:08 AM
What were your reactions?   Cheesy. I believe that moment you were probably worried about the future of this country.

The leaders of tomorrow, are children who can't take care of themselves. They're going to graduate from the university at about 18- 19 years old and then literal children would be in the labour force. How is this country going to not only survive but improve if the leaders of tomorrow are immature children who can't make proper decisions?
I can never be worried because a person is young and is in an exalted position, it shows that the person started taking responsibilities at a very young age and its a very good thing. Like the saying goes, "Age is only a number", whoever is matured enough mentally can climb any height possible without limitation. Maturity is now a thing of the mind, unlike when it was thought to be accompanied with just age, although there's some level of maturity that accumulates as someone gets older, but it shouldn't be a  deterring factor for a younger person's progress.

The old people that you thought are matured enough to lead the country well have failed us and Led us astray. If the younger generation can set it straight, the assumed matured one can retire, so that the new generation can lead well. we are tired of these old fools who doesn't have our interest at heart. The younger ones should be given an opportunity to utilize their talents and help this country move ahead.
Bro...if you read this post very well... I already stated the fact that some of these children, for real, actually deserve to be where they are. Age wasn't the headline of the topic...but the immaturity that comes with their little age.

Can we even settle down and think about how the rate of examination malpractice is rampant nowadays, A lot of these uni students are moving faster than they should only to enter uni and focus on the wrong things. If this continues...the future of Nigeria will be rich people..terrible economy...party country...and scam based country.
174  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: All professions are important on: January 12, 2024, 12:47:56 PM

Now and days alot of youth have the mindset that hand work are for the poor, which is wrong. Most even go further downgrading some professions. I will try and make this brief. For instance

•Yah really wealthy and there's is no carpenters, just tell me how yah home will be furnished.

•Imagine say you get funds and you wan build house or construct any business building. And no labourer (architectures) tell me how you wan con tey do am

•I save one of the best and most common for last farmers, just imagine all those farmers nor con dey tell me how you go tey feed Etc
Also same things also goes on with the other professions I didn't mentioned

Because now and days wetting most of our naija youth know nau yahoo Yahoo (fraud) most of them duh take am as hand work seff. Which is bad just imagine everybody focus on fraud and neglect the rest hand works and professions Omo life go hard the more ehhn even though funds dey wetting u wan con use am do.

So anything yah doing as long you know yah doing or learning the right thing always Try and do it well, because in the future you will then know the value of the foundations you lay now.

Come to think of it, don't you think the parents who are forcing their children into top professions like medical field, law and so on are also to be blamed. They instill the myth of "money when you start working into their children and she their children loose interest the start looking got alternative ways to bring home money for their parents. Everything problem in the society has a cause that was just as little as a matchstick on fire.

If these children were to follow their dreams from the start, maybe most of them would not go for the fraudulent and less honorable things to do with themselves. Every profession is extremely important. Parents should tell their children things like this before waec or from a little age and let's see what happens next.
175  Economy / Economics / Re: How to stay poor! on: January 12, 2024, 12:38:24 PM
Say that to women to get a better replies. Tongue

They will says:
1. Well, that's my life why you need to judge me, mind your own business.
2. Men always like pretty girl, I want to become a pretty girl, that's why my maintenance costs e.g. skincare, nice outfit, nice car are high.
3. You only live once, no one know how long you will life, just enjoy your life.
etc.
Err... So basically you're just trying to say women have more tendencies of becoming poor than men do  ?
Whatever good you do for yourself is an investment. Please, let us know the difference between investments and spending on unnecessary things. Those who invest in themselves always gain huge interests return.

And to be honest, I think the number one thing that actually makes a person to remain poor is the inability to give. Let that money go and bring you more wealth, keeping it with you won't get you any blessings. Not saying you should be a philanthropist or anything, but deciding not to give out when necessary would cause you huge losses.
176  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Why some newbies dey quick lose interest for the forum?? on: January 10, 2024, 10:15:55 AM
My brothers and sisters for this kajad cabal I greet una and happy new year to all of us. I say make I table this matter for here and if say person don discuss this mata, my apologies as I no see any of such nature before I bring this one up.
Wetin make me dey ask this question nah say after observation, I discover how some newbies wey register here, after them don drop some posts and e happen say one of the posts receive backlash, you go see say gradually, that user go start to dey scarce for here  and before you know e go twy before you see them.
So I wan know from us, wetin we feel say be the reason wey dem dey lose interest like that? Abi nah say some no fit stand criticism or here too hard or wetin? Abeg make we discuss.
To me , the major reasons would be;

Finding some topics overwhelming. They're newbies, they don't know much and sometimes it feels like trying to write a comment would make them look like they're writing basic things that most people already know.

Secondly, would be finding it difficult to fit writing on the forum into their probably busy life. When I started out on the forum, I would sometimes spend 2-3 hours writing only about 2 posts and it made me always tired. Like even the ones that I would have written would still be basic stuff.

Thirdly, it's always difficult as a newbie to get merits, cause even when they write something smart, when you just look to the left and see it was written by a newbie, most would just tag it as something that wouldn't make that much sense.

They may be many other reasons, but if you're a newbie reading this then, you should know that all these things is just a phase. I use to be like that and I honestly almost gave up on the forum, then I realized that i'm not that weak, I just needed to study harder and know more. If others can do it, then I can definitely do it and do more and so can you.

So, don't give up. Fighting ...
177  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nah lack of common sense or greed?? on: January 10, 2024, 10:01:20 AM
I say make I bring this mata come here make we discuss. I wan hear our different opinions on how we fit stop this menace. We no be strangers to the dangers wey tanker wey dey carry fuel come get accident dey cause. The issue of bad roads nah another thing to consider and also, sometimes carelessness of the driver becos him go dey drive like say nah sports car him dey use.

But where the gbese dey nah on how people go dey rush to go collect fuel wey dey spill, not minding the possible danger to life wey if small spark happen, dem fit roast.
Recent incidence wey happen for Ondo state of how tanker wey dey carry fuel get accident and people go rush to pack fuel, e no end well as 15 people kpai for the ensuing explosion wey take place not too long after..

Some go say na due to the fuel scarcity nai make them rush, others go say dis na opportunity to take get money after them sell am, but my question be say how we fit stop out loved ones from this sort of risky movement? You feel say our government dey partly to blame or nah just lack of common sense dey worry us so??

But wait oo, if you mah sef get oil business and you dey transport oil like that, common sense no go tell you say the road suppose good first ? This kind thing, no be to help fix the road or if na national road complain to the legit governmental body make them fix am?  Everybody get fault for the death of those people oo. Government weh no gree do their duties , owner of business weh no do him SWOT analysis well and people weh see opportunity no know say na death dey call them.

Naija normally, like to dey do this kind thing. Even when some supermarkets go catch fire weh people go dey run, na there you go see Naija dey enter dey carry free things.

As to keeping my family and relatives safe,na only prayer oo, cause me sef no know watin I wan tell them. " No enter place weh get fire or no go fetch oil from spilling truck"  shebi dem suppose already know all this one. Na only God fit save us for this country ooo
178  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Why don't you own Bitcoin ? on: January 10, 2024, 09:47:05 AM
What is the reason you still don't own Bitcoin?

I don't want to be the kind of person who preaches Bitcoin or forces anybody into getting it but, we're all advocates here so...

Most times, when people are asked this question even before you hear things like "It's cause of the risks" or " I don't know how to trade" or "What if I lose my money", you'd hear something like " I don't even have the money". Don't worry, I'm not going into getting a job or doing campaigns on the forum here. I'm going into digital skills.

You may have heard of a lot of ways of making money, and digital skills aren't all that new to most of us. If no one has told you yet, my guy, please go and learn skills. Not just anyhow skills, learn digital skills. That's literally the future of the world.

We started off in hunting, then moved to agriculture, to industrialization and now the world is gradually evolving into a digital one. When people complain that they got fired from work, I start to wonder, no one would actually fire or replace a person who is evolving and developing themselves every day, learning more and more skills every day. You have to be at the top of the chain to survive.

Back to Bitcoin, money gotten from digital skills can be easily invested. This is literally the biggest investment you can make for yourself. Invest in digital skills this year and watch yourself develop every day.

Remember and always remember, make you no gree for anybody this year ooo Cheesy
179  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Making haste while sunshine on Bitcoin on: January 10, 2024, 09:15:47 AM
'Make haste while the sunshine', thank you for the advice OP. Procrastination is really a success killer and always leads to regrets. 2023, many of us, especially me, couldn't do/ achieve a lot of the things we wanted to, because of procrastination. And realizing that a whole 365 days went by and you just laid in bed, ate, and watched movies although, all cause of the illusion of taking care of yourself is a real heartbreak. So, 2024 we go harder, and may we all conquer procrastination and inconsistency.
180  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / The leaders of tomorrow. on: January 09, 2024, 12:57:36 PM
Have any one of you ever stumbled upon a child and for whatever reason and asked them how old they were and they replied " 14, 15, or 16" Then thinking they're still in secondary school, ask them, which class? and they're like " I'm in the university".

To be honest, some of these children actually deserve to be where they are. They are smart and responsible, but even regardless of age a lot of them are extremely immature and childish. The age for university admission used to be 18 years old, but now some schools just let anyhow children into uni, and this is mostly carried out by private universities.

Do you think NYSC can help these children? since some of its importance is teaching the youths resilience, independence, and patriotism.

Another thing I've noticed is that a lot of parents don't let their children be independent or let them make decisions for themselves, then they grow up and become liabilities where at this point the parents start blaming them and comparing them to other people's children. This is very bad. Your child isn't going to be with you forever, no matter the age, when your child enters uni you should start letting them do things for themselves.  Let them fail, make mistakes, learn from those mistakes, and get up. You can't protect your child forever oo.

Let's make this country better with these tiny efforts.

Thank you.
