161  Other / Meta / Re: Any 50 BTC donor still active here? on: December 13, 2023, 02:35:09 PM
I heard you can buy the "Smart1985" VIP account for $2,000 since the domain email linked to his account is up for that very price. The account was compromised during 2015 and was used for a scam unfortunately. Not sure what happened after other than it looks like it was abandoned completely and has not been used since then. I guess one day it'll be taken control of again probably by someone who buys the domain.

Some people like Pirateat40 were arrested too by the way. 500K BTC Crypto exit scam. Its insane to think how some are in jail, like him.

Btc_Bear/JusticeForYou is hacked I think and the idiots running the account are also scamming with it. The email is btc_bear@gmx.com it cannot be recreated anymore. It is a shame that a well respected account gets taken control of by morons who want to make a quick buck.
162  Other / Meta / Re: BitcoinTalk Founder 13 years and counting of inactivity here on BitcoinTalk on: December 13, 2023, 02:28:34 PM

Since it's been 13 years since BitcoinTalk Founder Satoshi was last active on BitcoinTalk, I have some questions; Do you think he's still around and holding Bitcoin? What do you think about Satoshi Nakamoto right now? Do you believe he's still involved or has Bitcoin? What's your opinion on the mystery around Satoshi's identity and role in crypto? Do you think it's important for Satoshi to stay anonymous for the crypto market's stability? In case Satoshi came back from no where and reveal his identity what to you think will be the impact to crypto space?

1. I'm very sure he's still holding Bitcoin. That would absolutely suck to be him if he did not.

2. I believe that he's just vanished into the night. Looking at this stuff and what we have to say. I'm quite surprised even with his full name and stuff we still cannot find him. Especially seeing as how big Crypto is, surely there's gotta be some leads.

3. I'm unsure if it's important for him to stay anonymous.

4. If he came back I feel like it would be huge big news, maybe crypto hype?

5. I feel like he used a GMX.com email purposefully so someone could recreate it years later. Seeing how in the Bitcointalk database his email literally is "satoshin@gmx.invalid" he knew about the risks of using GMX.
163  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: A scammer selling Bitcoin for $1000 on: December 13, 2023, 01:04:58 PM
$1,000 for one Bitcoin? LOL? What a joke. This dude is obviously trying to fraud and his scam bs should be taken down immediately.
if you are thinking about his scam threads being deleted, sad to say that will most likely not happen. looking at his trust profile, it looks like the user is a known scammer and has been tagged by users and there is also an active flag against him. let's just hope people will be smart enough to now deal with accounts that have a blaring red warning on their account.

I can't believe these type of threads aren't going to be taken down. I find that mind blowing. Hopefully no one falls for his stupid and obvious scheme.
well, the forum does not moderate scams and it is up to the forum community to warn other poeple/members to not make any kind of transaction with scammers, but sadly there are still people falling for scams in the forum despite how obvious the scam is and the account that they are dealing with being is of negative tags from forum members.

What a complete clown. Also, I've done some digging and it seems more than obvious that he is using fresh alternate accounts to oppose his anti trust flag.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=trust;u=980573

If you click ANY of the accounts that oppose him they're all beginner accounts with no posts.

Welcome @hopenotlate you have been on this forum for a long time. You have achieved three batches for a long time. Your getting these three achievements is quite an achievement and you are at the DT2 rank. There are very few users in this forum who are old users in the past, achieving DT2 rank in this bitcoin forum is very patient. I pray for you that you go further.

To think that this is 10 years worth is crazy. Honestly surprised that he isn't ranked higher up on whatever website that is.
165  Economy / Reputation / Re: Recently woke up asking for a loan on: December 12, 2023, 11:52:38 PM
Any account recently waking up and asking for a loan after a long period of inactivity IS suspicious. However, not everyone is going to be a scammer or a hacker or a compromised account. Some people do seek out to these forums for loans but many fellow account thieves in the Bitcointalk community also tend to hack these notable accounts in an attempt to steal money from hardworking innocent people here which SUCKS. Personally unless I knew this person in real life or can verify that they are the original owner through other mean I would advise not loaning them.

Since you've been around in the Bitcointalk Community for over 10 years, some questions I would like to ask.

What was the craziest event you've witnessed here at Bitcointalk?

What are some people you look up to?

Has the forum changed in any major aspect ever since you joined? And what do you think the forum will be like in the future?
168  Economy / Reputation / Re: My 10 Year ( and some days) Bitcointalk Anniversary on: December 12, 2023, 11:01:51 AM
10 years is a long time at Bitcointalk. Congratulations on this milestone!
169  Other / Beginners & Help / Quite interesting - How long would it take for the average user to achieve Hero? on: December 12, 2023, 04:45:42 AM
I've been pondering this question for a little now since I would like to contribute to the forums and provide interesting topics as well as explore the website and eventually rank up here.

How long would it take for someone who contributes often to get to this "Hero rank?"

How about average users who don't often contribute? How long would it take for them to achieve the role? Any estimates?
170  Other / Meta / Re: Lists of non merit sources that got to 5000 merits on: December 12, 2023, 03:08:38 AM
I heard something that merits deplete. Do they actually? And how often do they like "decay" or "deplete"? Anyone know a set rate?

172  Other / Off-topic / Over 14 entire YEARS of Bitcointalk history - This is quite interesting! on: December 11, 2023, 04:41:23 AM
Hey, as you all may have known Bitcointalk literally has been around here for over a full decade! That's crazy. With that, there's quite alot of history here. I've been exploring all of these ancient threads through small lists that people make. It's interesting to see how all of these old scam accusation threads were dealing with thousands of bitcoin, which are now millions of dollars, tens of millions, hundreds of millions even. Makes you wonder what happened to the money, and what the people involved with the situations back then think of it now.

Now, for the question of this thread. What was the craziest event you have seen here at Bitcointalk or BTC in general? You can link a thread, or describe an event, etc. This can be from before you joined the community too

Edit: Maybe this should have been moved to Meta, looks more appropriate to be there. Anyone know how to do that?
173  Other / Off-topic / Re: Im new here on: December 11, 2023, 04:27:02 AM
They tricked me in a scam that I saw on YouTube to double your bitcoins, and silly me, I sent $35k in BTC, as expected I received nothing, I went very crazy I was about to commit suicide, but my ex boyfriend had a contact who he is a kind of "hacker" and he was able to follow the transaction to the final wallet, and luckily that wallet had carried out several scams and was able to contact other victims and among all of them he was able to collect information, he obtained the name of the person and went to denounce her with all her data, and after weeks I received my money.

That's really what he told me he did, although I don't care much about the only thing I know that he got my money back. Now I think he is dedicated to something like that, I have his contact, but I will never contact him again because I have already learned my lesson. And this is my horrible story.

You are TRULY lucky. In my opinion just stay with him he literally helped you get back $35k through what was a genuinely hopeless situation to most people
174  Other / Meta / Re: [Question] What Areas are lacking in the forum? on: December 11, 2023, 04:21:33 AM
I'm still quite new and this answer doesn't directly come from Bitcointalk's community so I may be wrong with my answer, but even then it's still good to find a grasp of what commonly happens whenever a forums section pops up.

Going generally off other experiences on forums and game communities it's always the Languages sections and niche sections only a certain group of users on the website would be interested in that are often the most lacking, in terms of activity and community. I know that Bitcointalk has these Language sections but I never stepped foot in these communities so this answer may be very easily wrong, especially seeing how huge Bitcointalk's community is.

Fun Fact: It's always the 'General' 'Marketplace' or 'Off-Topic' subforums in communities that seem to ALWAYS thrive. People always want to talk about the [topic/game/website], people want to make money through the use of marketplace and people always love to talk about things unrelated to the [topic/game/website], so they use off topic. And so far I'm quite right about the marketplace section here. Bitcointalk does have tons of sections here and I've barely explored them all so sadly I can't give out an accurate answer even though I want to. Hope this has made you learn something though

If we're talking about the issues as a whole I honestly don't like how they would rather ban trolls but not scammers. Like what? Why not just ban both.. Scamming is farr infinitely worse than just some harmless trolls trying to get a reaction out of people.

Ah, I don't know him at all but I read his thread. Based on his 6508 merit it looks like he was pretty established here in this community.  I hope the best for him and hope his personal issues get resolved asap.

177  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: ⚠️ Freewallet: the scam project that threatens thousands of customers on: December 10, 2023, 08:53:53 PM
Hey. Thanks for making a compilation of cases proving FreeWallet is a scam and a fraud. These bozos need to get taken down already.

Another case I would mention here is
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5248998.msg63277585#msg63277585

FreeWallet robbed this dude out of 5 BTC, which is now worth alot more than it was back in 2020.

Now get this. Three and a half years later the FreeWallet team RESPONDS to the post in an attempt to make their support look good. Whether they time these slow replies because they knew the user would have long quit by then (Users last online was July 2020) or if they wanted to make their Customer Support team look good by responding to something that was three and a half years old I'm unsure, so I just assume both. HORRIBLE service. I don't understand how they've lasted so long while frauding people out of so much money.

Also, Elon was ONLY refunded because he was Elon. Elon had the power to crush down FreeWallet's reputation and sue their company and FreeWallet is obviously never going to be prepared for something like that. So of course, they let his funds go and back to Elon.
178  Other / Meta / Re: Merit earned on deleted or short posts on: December 10, 2023, 05:50:55 AM
That's a pretty interesting yet random topic to think about. Is there an archive of these deleted posts? I know that there is some sort of archive for edited posts but not sure if they also contain deleted posts.
179  Economy / Reputation / Re: Should Ratimov aka Symmetrick be in DT1? on: December 10, 2023, 05:39:02 AM

I wouldn’t call the “red tag for switching hands” much of a reason considering any user can give positive or negative reputation. However, I would call the “This user's email address was changed recently” pop up suspicious combined with the other evidence.

Try to explain to me the reason for my actions in changing my password and email. I just foresee the scope of your imagination, and maybe one will make sense. But you would be very mistaken to think that the account changed ownership due to a password change. There can be many reasons.
But as for the negative tag left by a DT member, this is a pretty serious comment, and you probably don’t know the meaning of these ratings if you say that anyone can leave such a tag. The difference between any person and a person from DT is big.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5191802.0

Normally I don't see the act of changing your email suspicious at all but combined with the accusations here it does add up as some form of evidence, although not exactly a strong form of evidence, still noteworthy to point out. Especially seeing that his password hasn't changed either or else the pop up would've shown. Even then someone could just be like "he used a personal password specifically for bitcointalk and gave it to the buyer".

As for the person who gave him the reputation being a DT Member, that I was unaware of. I read the thread you linked and it was actually pretty helpful since I finally got to see what "DT" was after seeing it used literally everywhere on the forum. I knew they were like some sort of group of trusted people who were highly respected in the community that expose scammers and those type of stuff. But I never knew what the term "DT" meant or what else they did. I thought the person giving out the reputation was a normal user up until you pointed this out. This is because I haven't used this forum actively enough to know everyone yet. Since he is a DT member then he definitely must've reviewed the evidence and thoroughly investigated the situation out. So in the end, maybe it is a good point to keep in afterall along with his other points.
180  Economy / Reputation / Re: Should Ratimov aka Symmetrick be in DT1? on: December 09, 2023, 10:43:40 PM
Heads-up about Ratimov / Symmetrick's situation:

- His account was recently red tagged for switching hands.
- The number of those which trust him decreases week after week. At same time, the number of those distrusting him grows week after week. At the moment 38 users trust him, while 55 distrust him.
- YOSHIE, _BlackStar, Shamm, KingsDen, Silence Scream, Wapfika and Jossque stopped trusting him andJollyGood distrusted him. Thank you for your involvement!
- He is still trusted by a substantial number of 38 users from which only 19 are recently active: Zilon, Julien_Olynpic, sky999, bubbalex, madnessteat, Snork1979, FontSeli, ajanwalker, Gianluca95, rby, nimogsm, my luck, FutureBitcoin, dimonstration, whyrqa, CarnagexD, imhoneer, Best_Change, KTChampions.
