161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Is it really a scam exchange? on: November 07, 2018, 12:47:21 PM
Oh really so all exchange manipulate volume and prices of all coins listed on their exchange?  Even the big ones like Binance and bittrex? Well if this is true, then we all have to be very careful and don't leave tokens on exchanges wallet,  just deposit, trade and withdraw immediately to your mew..

This has always been valid regardless whether the platform you're using is manipulating the price or not. You shouldn't use an exchange for anything but trading because you don't control your private keys.
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: About claiming BCD Fork on: November 07, 2018, 11:22:59 AM
I liked this second alternative. Have you ever used it?

But I need the forked coin wallet for that, right? I will not receive bitcoin, but the forked coin.

BTCD.io has a list of wallets that support BitcoinDiamond. I've never heard about most of them except for Atomic wallet, Bitpie, and Mobi. If you're not comfortable storing your funds in closed source wallets, you could use a reputable exchange instead but a personal wallet is always a better solution.

As for the service, I gave you, it's very reputable so If you're fine with the fees they're taking, I highly suggest it. You could also check their bitcointalk thread to see what people think about it.
163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Base. Where to find? on: November 06, 2018, 02:09:37 PM
It's still not clear of what you're trying to achieve here. If you have a project or an ICO to launch and looking for investors then there is no better way to advertise your idea than bitcointalk.

Or you could make ads on news sites and blockexplorer where they have a lot of traffic, but It may cost you a lot of money and I doubt that's what you want for now.
164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Succeed placing xpub to generate unlimited receiving address. But how to pay? on: November 06, 2018, 10:41:52 AM
I'm going to assume that you have used bitcoind for this purpose? If so, you could use this command so whenever a user makes a withdrawal request, Its executed:

Code:
sendtoaddress <bitcoinaddress> <amount>
165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: About claiming BCD Fork on: November 06, 2018, 09:52:24 AM
You could use bitcoin fork claimer. Unless you know what you're doing, I don't recommend using it because It's technical to a certain level.

Alternatively, you could always use dig.walleting.services but they'll take 10% as a fee for the amount you have.
166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Port 8333 on: November 06, 2018, 08:23:40 AM
It's not necessary to open the ports to be a full node, but in that case, you'll have fewer connections.

I don't think it's that dangerous to open them though otherwise, no one would've done it. The only thing I can think of is the ability to run the software remotely but If you don't keep the funds in your full node, you should be fine and also, try to avoid Windows.
167  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / ZelCore generated wallet on: November 05, 2018, 08:22:34 PM
I'm not a cryptographer, I don't know how wallets like Electrum etc. does it but since I've checked ZelCore FAQ page, I came across this:

Quote
When you create an account using your nickname and password, ZelCore takes this password and create a salted hash from it.

ZelCore then adds your nickname to that and creates another salted hash from that value. This value (SHA256 hash) is the encryption key.

The encryption key is used to encrypt both contacts.json and wallet.dat files with AES-256-CTR algorithm.

And I might be a little bit paranoid, but is this a secure and safe way to generate a wallet?
168  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: It's time to sell on: November 05, 2018, 06:31:39 PM
The situation as a whole is not very sad, because now I observe that a very good wave of interest is beginning now, you understand that now the course of BCH is starting to rise, last year it was about the same.

I don't know why would anyone use that coin, to be honest with you.

It's basically bitcoin with a bigger block size, that's it. Bitcoin is the gold, Litecoin is the silver but what is BCH? The only reason why it has value is that It's backed by Bitmain and Roger ver who both have a lot of resources of power and they are trying to take over bitcoin by manipulating the market so they make more people buy it.

And apparently, a lot of people didn't get my meaning when I said that you should sell, I'm even doubting that they read the whole post in the first place.
169  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: HTC Exodus - The first major blockchain smartphone on: November 05, 2018, 05:07:48 PM
I can't find any info whether they're planning to open source this or not. If they won't, don't you guys think this would be useless?

Regardless of how secure this is, I'm pretty sure It could be hacked. So when that happens and the whole thing is closed source, how is it possible to tell whether this came from HTC or somewhere else? Just because HTC is a reputable company doesn't mean we should blindly trust them.
170  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What if all masternodes go down same time? on: November 04, 2018, 12:28:50 PM
The network will go down. Master nodes are what's securing the network and getting the transactions confirmed, If they're down, transactions won't go through anymore. Think of it like the miners for coins that uses POW instead of POS.
171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the best mobile multicoins wallet for neophytes? on: November 04, 2018, 11:12:17 AM
If you want something good, you'll have to go with closed source projects and these are wallets that are looking for profit for most of the time so you'll always find some kind of buy/sell feature or advertisement for ICOs etc. With that being said, Coinomi is taking the lead right now.
172  Economy / Exchanges / Re: LocalCoin Visa Debit Card (Canada's First VISA Debit Card) on: November 03, 2018, 02:38:38 PM
Is it supposed to be for Canadians only? because I can clearly see a drop menu which allows selecting countries. Also, why does it ask for an address for the shipping after I select virtual cards?

Aside from that, it looks promising and I guess not being obliged to pass a KYC verification comes with a price that I'm personally fine paying it as long as I could keep my privacy.
173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Is it really a scam exchange? on: November 03, 2018, 11:36:36 AM
After searching a little bit, I found some people saying the same thing about Hotbit having phantom transaction and manipulating the trading volume etc.

I'm not sure If one could label an exchange as a scam for manipulating the price because from the way I see it, that's what all exchanges are doing right now. Just because CEO's haven't spoken about it before doesn't mean It's not real.
174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: myetherwallet.com cloudflare warning on: November 03, 2018, 08:22:40 AM
Myetherwallet is having a lot of issues and also phishing attacks are targeting that specific domain name. I suggest going with MyCrypto, It's basically the same website with a lot of improvements and brought by MEW developers as well so there should be no trust issues here.
175  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trade ETH from Trezor on: November 02, 2018, 03:54:05 PM
That's what always happens. You're just not seeing it because it's happening directly from your Trezor, so they send the coins to the right address for you.

Why don't you want to send them to ShapeShift's address?

Is it possible?

Bitcoin, Litecoin etc. have a tab for "exchange" like the screenshot below:

But for Ethereum, you'll be redirected to MyCrypto or Myetherwallet because the web interface doesn't have ether in the first place, so where I'm supposed to exchange?
176  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Trade ETH from Trezor on: November 02, 2018, 03:35:43 PM
Does anyone know If there is a way to trade your ether for something else using ShapeShift without having to send them to another wallet? this feature seems to be working for BTC, LTC etc. but whenever you choose Ethereum inside the Trezor, It will refer you to myetherwallet or mycrypto so there is no way to do the exchange in the wallet itself.
177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any centralized coin that accepts it is centralized? on: November 02, 2018, 08:10:52 AM
I honestly think that Ripple is the most open about it, If you visit their website you'll clearly see that they claim to deal with banks etc. so they're not really hiding it.

A coin usually won't be open about this kind of info because everyone knows that crypto enthusiasts are more interested in decentralization, privacy, safety etc.

The only type of centralized coins that would work are the ones created by the governments and that would only work with people who don't trust the current cryptosystem, mostly the elders.

178  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: which is the best Hardware wallets? on: November 01, 2018, 04:56:51 PM
You can never go wrong with Trezor or Ledger nano S. They've been here for years, they showed that they can be trusted and they can keep their products updated all time.

Move your wallets from that pen drive. If someone finds it and operate a brute-force attack, he could get the password and extract the coins from there. Having multiple backups will just increase your chances of having your funds stolen.

If your hardware wallet got stolen, however, someone typing the PIN code wrongly multiple times will lead into the device been wiped so your funds will remain safe and the hacker won't get anything and then you could restore your coins using your initial seed that should be safely hidden.

If you ever choose to go with the Trezor, make sure to go with the Trezor T because It's their last product and has much more updates.
179  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Sending ERC20 tokens to multiple address in a single transaction on: November 01, 2018, 01:48:47 PM
I don't think wallets could do this since this is not a feature available for Ethereum in the first place, unlike Bitcoin. If you want to do batch transaction then yes, Multisender is basically the best solution you could go with unless you think you can make your own smart contract. If you don't know how to use it, check this video.
180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Reputable Airdrop alert sites? on: November 01, 2018, 12:47:07 PM
The only website I currently know is airdropalert.com but I don't like it. When it comes to the user experience it's not really that good, It's slow and it looks like they are trying so hard to make their website profitable by putting ads and referral links everywhere.

If someone knows any other sites that have basically more details regarding details including what exchanges they are being traded on, the worth of the airdrop in USD, the time estimation for the task to complete etc. please share.
