161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is crypto politcs bad for the Blockchain industry? on: February 15, 2019, 06:53:47 PM
The problem I see here is not the forks themselves, everyone can propose his own ideas and projects and let people decide, the problem is the way they promote their projects. They don't talk about the good they can do but, instead of that, they attack other projects or even bitcoin. If you are not into crypto and you look at this from outside you don't see smart people proposing ideas but an egomaniacs war where everyone spreads dirt in every direction. If you see this from outside you will turn back and run away.
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will the era change from ICO (Initial Coin Offering) to STO (Security Token O) on: February 15, 2019, 12:38:01 PM
It's undeniable that there is a growing interest in STOs right now, the fact that many of these tokens offer dividends attracts many people, they think that if the token lose its value, at least they can receive those dividends although, if the project turns out to be a failure they will not receive anything. However, calling your token a STO doesn't make it a STO, there are some requirements that not every project will be able to fulfill and if we talk about exchanges, there will not be many exchanges where it will be possible to trade these tokens. Thinking in the long term, I think things will move towards a hybrid model, projects that will be offering two tokens, one utility token and one security token.
163  Economy / Economics / Re: JPMorgan Launches JPM Coin, World’s First Bank to Launch Cryptocurrency on: February 14, 2019, 04:31:34 PM
Their “do not smoke” strategy hasn't worked, so they have decided to sell their own cigarettes. I always thought they were spreading FUD over bitcoin in an attempt to push down the price and buy cheap, now it seems they had other motivations.
164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Poll. Will the market go upside or downside in short term? on: February 14, 2019, 10:32:47 AM
I don't expect any big movement in the short term, I know some people are optimistic because now an ETF approval seems more possible, but that hypothetical approval will not happen anytime soon, so I think things will stay calm for a while.
165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is the large variety of Altcoins hurting the market? on: February 13, 2019, 11:45:27 PM
You could make the argument that if all of the capital in crypto only had to be spread across 50 coins that that would make each of those coins extremely more valuable.

A few years ago there were less than 50 coins and these coins were less valuable than they are now. If there are so many coins now it's because the interest in crypto has grown, it's normal. The quantity of coins is not a problem, scam coins are.
166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BAT (Basic Attn coin) and Brave browser on: February 13, 2019, 10:34:31 PM
If I'm not wrong, they pay you BAT tokens when you watch any ad on the Brave browser. It seems an interesting concept. I don't know if they are already doing that or if it's still only a concept.

No,  it is not limited only in concept anymore, the concept is now live. People can earn BAT tokens by using the brave browser, not only by watching ads. It seems a great idea to make crypto reach to everyone. Though only a few people know about it, so, BAT team and we should spread this offer widely to make crypto popular to everyone. I know about a project, which is giving token if users search in google through their website. So, we really needed this type of service to catch people's eye on crypto!

That's true, although if you can't withdraw your tokens to your wallet, as some people are telling here, this will be useless. No one will be interested if they only can use their tokens to send tips. I would not make any promotion until the withdrawal function is activated.
167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What if the bull run started and ended in one night? on: February 13, 2019, 03:11:04 PM
This is not a bull run, this would be a pump and dump, and in the terms you are suggesting in your scenario it's impossible for that to happen.
168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Generational change – the most powerful Bitcoin price catalyst on: February 12, 2019, 08:31:32 PM
If you think about it, many of them will have a bitcoin wallet before having a card or a bank account. It's not only that it will be easier for them to learn how bitcoin works, they will not need to adapt to the new since the new will be normal to them.

170  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Stellar 25$ airdrop on: February 12, 2019, 04:04:04 PM
Did they send you a link in that email? For me, this is the most important question since, in theory, there is no need to attach any link in that mail. If there is a link in that email, you better don't trust it.
171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Australia looks at Initial Coin Offerings positively on: February 12, 2019, 09:05:58 AM
They are coming late, after all what happened last year ICOs are in decadence, I don't see any good future for ICOs right now.
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What happens to your tokens when you're gone one day? on: February 11, 2019, 12:11:14 PM
In my family there are no problems with this, and everyone knows where they are and how to use cryptocurrency

This is the most important part in this question. The biggest problem is not leaving a paper with some keys in a will, but if the people who will receive that will and those keys will know what they have to do with them and if they will know how to avoid being hacked, phishing, or what they will need to do if they have to swap a token.
173  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What happens to coins that peeged their ICO to Ethereum? on: February 11, 2019, 11:34:25 AM
If these tokens keep their ETH value and the USD price of ETH rises, it's obvious that the USD price of these tokens will raise too. Regarding if these tokens would reach their ICO price again it would depend on how much they have lost, but it will be difficult without a proper development of the project.
174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Everyone agrees that bitcoin rise will help the all crypto currencies to rise? on: February 09, 2019, 10:37:49 PM
If you are referring to their value in USD, the answer is yes. The price of most altcoins is calculated by their value in BTC and the price of BTC itself. For example, if one coin is worth 0.001 BTC and BTC is worth $3000, that coin's price is $3. If the same coin is worth 0.001 BTC and BTC is worth $4000, that coin's price is $4.
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 10% Of Ethereum DApps Are Used On Any Given Day on: February 09, 2019, 10:36:08 AM
The vast majority is simply useless or didnt manage to gain attraction of the community.

The question is, how many people within the community is interested in using Dapps? Dapps developers should focus on attracting and onboarding users who are not familiar with cryptocurrencies but could be interested in using their Dapps.
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Bullish trend has commence! on: February 08, 2019, 09:07:23 PM
In every bear market there are always days like this, it's normal, but what is happening today doesn't mean anything, you can't draw conclusions from today's rise.
177  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What causes tokens been dumped after a successful ICO. on: February 08, 2019, 04:26:01 PM
It's widely known that the biggest dumpers are presale and private investors who get big discounts in ICOs. In your example, you are talking about one investor who gets a 25% bonus, which is relatively low considering that there are ICOs where early investors can get 50% or higher bonuses. They can easily sell their tokens, get profit and buy again at a much lower price.
178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: my metamask wallet has been hacked on: February 08, 2019, 12:19:01 PM
If you are using metamask you need to make sure you are using the real metamask wallet since there are some fake wallets and extensions that can steal your coins and tokens, maybe this is what happened to OP.
179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Progressing adoption on: February 07, 2019, 11:50:43 PM
The ball is in users court. What incentive did merchants have when they started to accept credit or debit cards? They even lose money when they are paid via credit cards, but they knew there were a lot of customers who wished to pay with their cards, so they had to implement them as a payment method. The same will happen with bitcoin. When there are a lot of customers who wish to pay with their bitcoins they will accept it as a mean of payment.
180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Please let's halt the Madness of Everyday New Cryptocurrency Release on: February 07, 2019, 08:51:27 PM
I see no problem with people creating new coins or launching new projects. If these coins or projects are worthless nobody will pay attention to them, it's that easy. On the other hand, there is no way to prevent people from creating new tokens or coins, and this is a good thing, anyone can create the coin or token he wishes, but not everybody can create something with value.
