BitBay Community Update 9/10/2017 David has given a wonderful summation of the exotic spending updates that will be present in the next version of the BitBay market client. You can find all this information at: https://www.reddit.com/r/BitBay/comments/6zca3v/plain_english_breakdown_of_upcoming_exotic/Work is 99% complete on our very own BitBay block explorer! This will lay the groundwork for us to begin mobile development down the line. We are proud to announce Bruno Guimarães has accepted the role of Art Director for BitBay. With over 12 years of experience in visual marketing we feel he is more than qualified to take our brand image to the next level! We have also found an exceptionally qualified individual to take over as head of our marketing team, Traceur! Traceur has over 7 years of experience in B2B marketing, from deep market research to brand strategy, and we are privileged to have such a person assist us in getting the word out. Our newly appointed Project Manager, Shorn, has been and will be continue to aid in organizing and coordinating activities between the separate teams. This has streamlined our workflow, and we have been generally performing more effectively as a unit thanks to his contributions. A copywriter has been found, Priscilla, who will assist in making our technical text easily understandable to those who are somewhat new to Blockchain or technology in general, something vitally important as the market expands and average Joes enter the sector. Several minor (but quite inconvenient, speaking from experience) bugs have been fixed in the Mac version of the Market Client, those issues being an abnormally high rate of CPU usage and images not showing up on the marketplace. Now, it performs equally as well as our Windows market client, which is wonderful news! A professional and slick explanatory video about the BitBay platform is in the works (the audio sounds great!). This will be a streamlined and convenient way to introduce new users and investors to BAY, something that we all agree is vitally important moving forward. The next version of BitBay should be coming out relatively quickly. David has had a bit less time as he has had to assist his family during these turbulent times in Florida, but things are more or less still on track. https://bitbay.net/news/148 Warning about BitBay (BAY) cryptocurrency Due to your frequent queries, we would like to inform and warn you that BitBay (BAY) cryptocurrency is not a part of our business and is not affiliated with our exchange and trading platforms (bitbay.net and bitbay.in). Convergence of names is not intentional on our side, and legal steps have been taken in this regard. We advise special caution when investing in BitBay (BAY) cryptocurrency as we can not guarantee it with our reputation. What is the official position Dev Team Maybe rebranding will solve this problem. It should solve this problem as soon as possible. Underestimation may mean death for BAY Legal steps have been taken in this regard - It looks bad. It is uncertainty for new investorsMaybe we should help avoiding confusion by advising special caution when depositing in their exchange as we can not guarantee their exchange with our reputation? Seriously, we can't have any official position to something that is not presented to us yet. If they want a legal battle, we'll just have to wait and see what they present to us.

This latest shit in china tells me more the need for decentralised exchanges and market places is more urgent than ever.
I do think the moderator key needs to be removed so there is no centralised point of attack at all though.
Our tech is a little to perfect for black markets. And neither David nor the team wants to be as associated with that. I can see why short tem investors would like us to go down that route. But the legit markets dwarf black markets, and that is what we are going after. If we were to be known as the new silk road, it would be very hard to conquer the legit markets. So the mod key needs to stay. This has also been discussed earlier here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=890531.msg17782226#msg17782226

I find it funny that Particl is 4.5x the marketcap of BitBay, but they tried to reverse BAY's tech and failed. Why invest $ into the $90mil cap coin when they failed to reverse code the $20mil cap coin's code...? Makes absolutely no sense
Cryptos don't make sense (look at the top20... Hcash... others...) But that's the way it is. Since June,we see the beginning of an early-mass-adoption movement (who here doesn't know someone who entered the market recently, or thinks about it ?). It changes the game: Technology is not the only parameter in the valuation equation: Teams are scrutinized, marketing has a huge impact etc... Crytpomarkets evolved: projects must adapt or die. That said... Bitbay is a great tech. Maybe it just needs a bit of PR, and starting from the community is not a bad thing. What if, WE, the hodlers, start promoting the coin again ? Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, BitcoinTalk signature etc... I think we need :1- 2 officials statements about Bitbay: why is it so good? what is the end user value propostion? --> it can be done by an expert member here and validated by the devs. We need 2 statments: 1 statement will be technical, and one for the average joe (simple). We'll use these as a baseline to write the social media tweets and so. 2a- a short term roadmap for "news" and teasing (don't tease without news...): Next releases 2b- curators for news and articles. Writers on Medium and Steemit for instance, and their links to resteem and upvote. 3- A structured and synchronized communication: --> Same Tweets, same Hashtag (#BAY... why not something else like #NextBigCrypto) --> Same linkedin post for all with hashtag (someone writes one and we copy paste) --> etc etc.. We probably need a specific topic here or a slack channel to coordinate "off-the line" Who is in ? It's time to lift BAY up :-) Good initiative We are producing marketing material atm + will have a short term (1-3 months) marketing strategy done soon. Give us another week, and we should mostly be ready to go. You can then contact shorn on our slack to get what you need + get some pointers on where we think your efforts would make the most difference.

These things go in cycles. Many invest in projects that they know will never become reality because they count on someone pumping it. Then they invest their profit in solid projects.

Is everyone on slack or something? where are the rest of the bitbay community?
Yes. Sorry. We have been pretty busy. I'll try to make it a priority to be more here.

I've mention on the theymos thread on the main alt board about a review of bitbay.
What does that mean?

there is simply no arguing against double deposits it simply makes perfect sense .. especially since it is variable and has a reputation system. Like david says comparing to the fees you will be saving on ebay the odds simply stack up in the favour of dd. He has listed 10% that is nothing it if far greater than that on many purchases especially with the auto added international scam fees and other additions.
this is a waste of time all you need to do is study it and factor in that it is variable and has reputations system and the fees saved.... it just destroys ebays /paypals current model
even this though is not the main feature with bitbay for me.
the rolling peg and all the other possible usecases for bitbay core are huge.
the speed of development seems slow because david is not good at overselling his product like all other projects that almost have you believe they have these big plans ready to go when in reality they are not even 10% there and probably will never get to 50% ever. However if david is actually still saying the peg, api and all other road map features will be done by end of year. This is still a huge leap past 99% of shit ico dreams and talk bullshit worth 100's Millions.
I feel (could be wrong) we are still be pushed lower for those whales to accumulate more. This is good for me because I am kicking myself less for not buying more when it was sub 500 I am gradually stacking more.
I still feel a masternode or tiered pos system based on amount held and duration held is key. The peg will null that I guess so have to just wait for that.
I can not wait for the day I see a huge green candle for bitbay it will be one of the most freaky REAL green candles we will ever see.
Double deposit is really THE shit, arbitrated escrow I find really silly and useless. Nobody except the 2 parties can know who's wrong. The double deposit simply makes stealing disappear, it prevents it. I think it's really too bad this project didn't have a decent marketing seeing for how long it has been existing up till now, but at the same time I'm glad, because otherwise I would have never been able to buy it at such an undervalued price. The idea of masternode or staking with duration integrated would be so awesome Maybe you could also add that people with frozen coins receive even more, thus encouraging more holding and more freezing among buyers. We don't need masternodes to keep coins away from the exchanges. The double deposit will do that job nicely once the market gains tracktion What do you mean by that? How will double deposit help in that? When you post a contract for something you want to sell, you also deposit. Say you are selling a $100 item. Then you deposit $100. How long does it take on average before an item is sold? 20 days? (Remember some items are never sold) Let's say 20 days for now. So that's 20 days that $100 are locked in deposit. Then someone buys it and puts up their $100 deposit. How long does it take to ship the item? 2-3 days domestic? Up to 30 days international? Lets say 10 days on average. And remember the sellers deposit is also locked up during shipping. So that's sellers $100 locked up for 30 days + buyers $100 locked up for 10 days. A total of $100 locked up for 40 days. That means an average turnover of $1000 a day in our market will create a demand for Bay in the value of $40 000. A ratio of 1 to 40!

hello bitbay community But here seems to be a contradiction ? traders wants volume and price swings and investors wants volume too because that attracts interest etc and price is more likely go higher in the end with ups and downs of course. So how will this work with this price stability mechanism? thanks Welcome to BitBay Bamsterdam I see David has answered most of your questions, so I will focus on the one he forgot. Consumers and merchants want stable prices. The volatility you find in crypto is one of the biggest obstacles for adoption. We will allow price to move, but reduce the volatility. That way consumers and merchants can start using Bay, and thus push price up.Also, some investors want to have part of their portofolio less volatile. For the traders we have a very interesting alternative: frozen coins. They can be moved, but with a delay. We are discussing how much of a delay right now, but expect it to be 1-3 months. Those coins are therefor not suitable to use for shopping, and will likely have a lower value than liquid coins. For a trader that can be heaven. Buy cheap frozen coins, wait for them to become liquid, and cash in.

Should I invest here? I'm a newbie
Ask that question in the thread of any coin, and you will always get yes as an answer. That said, I think BitBay is the best investment you can find in crypto. It has the most secure and advanced wallet you'll find in any coin. Lots of features that no other coin has. And it is extremly undervalued.

Any solution to the identically named BitBay exchange, other than hope for its immanent demise?
Going for the immanent demise Seriously, there isn't much we can do about it except working on SEO. And SEO work has started as you can see from our community updates.

You do have a point Cryptohunter. We are rather busy atm, but I will do a little research on the subject when I get the time. Would have to be some sort of sidechain solution though. We don't want to get in Ethereums situation with a blockchain that grows 1 GB each day. Pm me any relevant links, and I'll look at it when I can.

BAY looking superb @ 860 sats.2017 revaluation consolidating into a hard packed level more than 8 times its speculative trading price over the last 2 years. The power of a super-dedicated, trustless escrow-based trading facility who's sole objective is to facilitate goods exchanges of any kind, anywhere, anytime with greater reliability than eBay and 1% of the cost will be huge. One of the reasons I like this asset is because its monetary model is so complimentary to its functional model. In particular: • it has its own blockchain which means that the monetary base genuinely derives its value from the trading and is not airgapped*. Therefore it's worth investing in, unlike Ethereum tokens • the monetary model (rolling peg) compliments the commercial model by presenting traders with a stable exchange rate while the goods exchange takes place • goods trading is inherently integrated with the monetary base in a way that securities trading isn't. For example, in times of old, barter took place in the shadow of some notional value denomination so that traders could determine if they were being over or under sold. (e.g. if they knew the price of a fur in gold and also knew the price of an acre of land, they could barter the fur for the land but still use a notional monetary value to facilitate price discovery: Nº of furs for acres of land). That is Bitbay's market: goods bartering with a price discovery mechanism. The rolling peg is the genius ingredient because it decouples the conflicting priorities of a stable denomination for the goods exchange and a volatile risk asset that enables non-trading participants to support the value of the denominating currency by investing in it directly. * Why can't this be done simply with a token on the Ethereum blockchain ? • because if you're riding the back of a whale and that whale sinks, you sink with it. You therefore can't use an Ethereum token as a monetary base for an escrow-based goods trading platform because of exposure to 3rd markets and consequent loss of price discovery. As an example, look at Populous: its fundamentals have only improved in the last two weeks, yet its price vs BTC or USD has almost halved simply because of its exposure to its monetary base • because Ether tokens are airgapped from the mining process. Cryptocurrency (as a monetary base) only works because there is a feedback mechanism from the monetary/commercial function to the mining hashpower. If goods trades take place on the BAY platform, hashpower pressure will build under the market peg. That will force the peg to roll at some imminent point. That in turn will encourage more goods trades as people's property is seen to increase in value. That in turn encourages mining. (e.g BAY will rise to 'most profitable' on coinwarz.com as the market pre-empts the peg movement) • because mined currencies are genuinely decentralised and therefore far off the horizon of regulatory surveillance. (It's much easier to regulate a legal entity that creates 100 million tokens out of the blue and holds them as a corporate asset than it is to justify regulating a decentralised, mined blockchain). Bitbay blockchain is therefore consistent with its commercial function In other words: Bay is looking bootiful, both monetarily and functionally. The more time goes on, the more it is emerging as having carved out a perfect balance between goods markets, an associated monetary base and a genuinely competitive digital asset in decentralised worldwide trading market. Exellent post toknormal! So good to see someone that knows what he is talking about posting here. For those of you that get confused by the mentioning of mining, staking is also commonly refered to as mining. But just to be clear, BitBay is a POS coin. More specifically POS3.

Hi guys. This is my first message. And BitBay is my first investment in cryptocurrencies also. I have fully synchronized the Halo wallet. But I'm still keeping my BAYs on Bittrex. I'm afraid of a collapse on my PC, a system failure on Halo.exe etc. Bad things happen to me very often and I don't want to lose my precious BAYs, nobody does. Anyway, how can i backup my wallet? And I would be glad if you give me some other advices about securing my BAYs. Thank you. Keep up the good work!
You should never keep much money on an exchange. A long history of exchanges being hacked speaks against it. You can use the client or the Qt wallet. I recommend the client. Make several backups of your keys and remember a backup kept in your home does not help you if your house burns down. For Qt wallet you need to backup a file called "wallet.dat" For the client you need to backup "key1.private" and "key2.private" (the client is multisig. Much safer, but requires you to have both keys in order to transact) You might also want to join our slack. A lot of noob questions are answered there every day. http://bitbay.market/wp-login.php?action=slack-invitation
