161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Changing my Thoughts And Behaviors. on: January 29, 2022, 07:30:03 AM
Sure, Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies can be viewed from the perspective of philosophy, hence the current cypherpunks. But personally I wouldn't go on that extreme. Bitcoin and decentralization is a brilliant solution to the problems we have in our society and especially in our monetary and financial system. However just because some people are not like-minded in a particular matter like Bitcoin it doesn't mean the discussion should not be interesting. Quite the opposite I'd say - it is more interesting to learn why they don't like it and what are their perspectives. After you understand them, try to challenge their beliefs. Most people do not agree with the idea of cryptocurrencies because they don't even have a basic understanding of them.
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hoddle or day trading on: January 23, 2022, 08:59:07 PM
I have some altcoins I bought at the ICO stage which did x pricee movement and now are dead while others are still at a stable price but I will like to make some profits at this time should I continue holding or start trading them to make instant profits what will be your advice in this situation.

I am not a financial advisor so I cannot give you an advice,  but what I can do is tell you what I would if I were in your situation.

First of all I would do a proper assessment of my financial situation and of my spending needs.

If the amount I can cash out from my ICO investments is significant relative to my income I'd definitely take profits at least partially.

To decide what I do with the rest I'd do a well-documented research of the projects - everything from vision, tokenomics, developers, management team, marketing, etc.
163  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Retail users out? on: January 23, 2022, 08:50:25 PM
Indeed, Bitcoin seems to reward hodlers aka long - term investors, but so do the equity markets or any asset that has strong fundamentals. Equity markets thrive thanks to the raising productivity growth while Bitcoin keeps conquering bear markets thanks to its characteristics that make it a goods store-of-value and not only.

*Note that the Bitcoin holders are rewarded much handsomely because of the novelty of the asset class. The perceived risk is higher, but so it is the reward.
164  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My take on the market on: January 23, 2022, 07:46:31 PM
This is a quality post, but I think it belongs to the economics or trading section of the forum.

To comment a bit on it: The raise of interest rates will surely affect the level of spending of people and businesses, but we can't know for sure the magnitude of the impact. After all the productivity growth caused by technology advancement is something we haven't seen before in our history. Just think about the economic value artificial intelligence could unlock, not even talking about space exploration. The sell-off is probably caused by a mixture between the expectation of a serious drop in economic activity once interest rates hike and fear of the on-going health crisis. It is a pity that Bitcoin is not yet considered a hedge against uncertainty. Probably investors need to see a longer track record in the markets.
165  Economy / Economics / Re: How To Profit From MASSIVE Inflation on: January 23, 2022, 06:48:21 PM
I love these types who keep saying "well if you buy a house and create debt, your debt will be very tiny in 30 years whereas your income will be huge due to inflation!", dude do I look like I can buy a house? Like what is wrong with these people?

Housing prices could be fine in the USA and you may get one, but here it costs somewhere between 50k to 350k to buy a house and the minimum wage is like 300 dollars, yes I make more than minimum wage but not like I make 10k per month, I do not make that at all, I barely make twice as much as minimum wage, and that is good but nowhere NEAR enough to buy a house. That is why I am in crypto and it has been helping me slowly grow my capital.

I hear you, man. I would also not be that sure that the debt will be very tiny in 30 years. Once you take out a mortgage (indebt yourself) for 30 years you will have a big debt service burden on yourself. You also expose yourself to the risk of increasing interest rates which will inherently raise the costs of your financing. Sad  So yeah, buying houses on credit and managing them is a game for the wealthy.

I agree that crypto is a good instrument to grow your wealth, but you should also have a more conservative part in your portfolio.
166  Economy / Economics / Re: How To Profit From MASSIVE Inflation on: January 23, 2022, 04:57:58 PM
1) We've got to take into account that central banks are already starting to raise interest rates. This measure cuts down on the amount of credit existent in the economy >> as most house purchases are made using mortgages and they now become more expensive I think we can assume that there will be smaller demand for houses as the debt service burden would be too high for many persons. Sellers won't find buyers so they will have to lower their ask prices >> lower value. However, if the inflation continues at this pace the replacement value (land, materials and work) will raise as well.

2) IMO commodities are a decent be during times of inlation as they are necessary for the economy to thrive. Although raised interest rates will also affect the demand for them, the impact will be smaller as they are necessary for the economy to function properly.
167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Just saying on: January 23, 2022, 11:27:15 AM
Like always there is a lot of gambler's behaviour in the crypto space. Initially this behaviour manifested mainly through trading highly speculative altcoins and participating in "very promising" ICOs. Nowadays we see people pouring millions into funny dressed monkeys that bring no value besides the right to brag ownership over the design. Some would argue that it is art. I am strongly against naming art anything created by human that has a visual form. IMO a creation should attain art status when it has a profound meaning or symbolizes something important. Now what can a monkey with a cigar represent? Maybe the decay of our society or the degenerate nature of a part of the cryptocurrency users.
168  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I invested $100 for 18 years for my new born nephew on: January 23, 2022, 11:15:18 AM
$100 is a big amount if the salaries in your country are so low ($90 for a security guard). That's at least 160 hours of work. Putting that money in Bitcoinfor the long-term is a good call, but you shouldn't place your nephew's education solely on that investment. Also I'd say the $100 would be better spent in education for your brother so he can get a higher paying job. The ROI on education is net superior to any financial investment when you don't have much capital.

But education also depends on your brother's time and willingness to learn and develop.
169  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Good moment to buy btc or eth? on: January 22, 2022, 07:20:31 PM
Hi crew. Hope you are all well in new 2022. Good moment to buy btc or eth?

That's only for you to decide. Understand that you can't possibly know the agendas of all the market participants at any given point in time. What you can do is to analyze the assets you are trying to buy  from a fundamental and/or a technical point of view. Even if you have done your diligence you still are prone to witness black swan events or a sudden change of mind by a multi-billionaire or hedge fund manager.
170  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you have any favorite superstititions when trading crypto on: January 22, 2022, 05:40:28 PM
Just the mere fact of believing in superstitions can affect your trading & investing game. Superstitions are part of a gambler's mindset and not a part of a professional trader's mental skillset.
If you find yourself praying a position will get back into green territory or price will reach your target, that's a sign you don't trust strategy, therefore you haven't backtested or articulated it well enough. In other words it should be like a big placard saying "Get back to the blackboard!"
171  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Russia's Central Bank proposes ban on Cryptocurrency trading and mining on: January 22, 2022, 04:37:56 PM
Russia is a failing country from my perspective. I'm not sure how they can be so bold against NATO. Probably just because they are backed by China. However in terms of economic power Russia is net inferior and its decisions/regulations shouldn't be viewed in any way or form as an example. They are conservators so it is natural to be afraid of something as novel and revolutionary as cryptocurrencies. Nothing to be seen here...
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why do you use stable coins? on: January 16, 2022, 09:28:55 PM
Like other forum members said people use stablecoins for convenience and ease of trade, fee reduction. I agree that stablecoins are inherently risky to store value in.

However, I believe one can minimize the risk by diversifying in a basket of "trusted" stablecoins.

Some people use stablecoins purely to benefit from the higher yields offered by some protocols (lending, liquidity mining, etc.)
173  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Question on: January 16, 2022, 09:16:28 PM
Is Blockfi a secure platform to earn interest on cryptocurrency?

Allegedly they do have systems in place to secure deposits, but still they safety of your funds is not guaranteed and don't forget that you are also exposed to counter-party risk. If they go bankrupt or their lending business model produces loses you might lose a partial amount or even all your holdings.

I suggest you do your own diligence, practice good risk management and diversification.
174  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do people overestimate BTC? on: January 16, 2022, 07:38:54 PM
Zoom out, Bitcoin's price action looks quite healthy on the higher timeframes from a technical perspective. I suggest you create a clear mind image between short-term and long-term price action.
Bitcoin can raise 10-20% in a day. 100k is in the cards for 2022 if you ask me.
175  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: When Bull Market will Start on: January 16, 2022, 06:27:44 PM
This is a crystal ball type of question. I can only give you a personal guess which is probably Bitcoin will reach a new ATH this year based on the steady development of institutional infrastructure around it. Not only that, but I expect increasing retail adoption as well due to the development of more user-friendly and intuitive wallets and even DeFi platforms integrating BTC.

Also I've heard Block (ex Twitter CEO) company is working on some interesting things regarding retail mining distribution. Wink
176  Economy / Services / Re: *** Earn Some Crypto Online *** - NO INVESTMENT on: January 16, 2022, 05:37:08 PM
This "service" is a matter of ethics vs money. As you can see for many people money is more important than doing the right thing.

I trully hope this is not what happens much higher on society hierarchy >> the politics, but deep down I know it does. Fortunately, we still have some people with high integrity in the world that counter-balance.
177  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Reasons why I prefer Bitcoin over any other assets and dips don't panic me.... on: January 16, 2022, 11:20:55 AM
I believe that Bitcoin is a better proposition as a store of value than any other asset we have at disposal. However I think diversification should always be practiced soundly especially in times of economic turmoil like now. We must not forget that the current pandemic situation is pretty much equivalent to a war in terms of social and economic impact.

Remember to be emotionless when budgeting your finances and making investment decisions Wink
178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Btc is boring on: January 15, 2022, 08:44:27 PM
Come on... I like to think that retail traders are not a bunch of degenerate traders looking to trade garbage assets. Bitcoin still has a way higher volatility than traditional assets. As BTC gets in the higher number of digits valuations and hopefully becomes the next widely accepted store-of-value it is expected that the volatility will drop.
179  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: IS it possible to let your BTC work for you ? on: January 15, 2022, 08:35:03 PM
I you're looking for no KYC yield opportunities on Bitcoin, DeFi is the way to go. However the DeFi infrastructure for Bitcoin is quite limited for the time being.
I know that you can earn some yield on your RBTC by lending, however you need to expose yourself to the new inherent risks of using a decentralized application. Also you will have to convert your BTC to RBTC - the 1:1 peg equivalent on the RSK network. There are some technicalities, but if you set some time for learning you will feel much safer when rovering around the web3 world.

Besides Sovryn I'm not aware of any other serious dapp offering decent yield opportunities on BTC.
180  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What do u think about gambling? on: January 15, 2022, 06:10:53 PM
Gambling is a form of entertainment. I like to play sometimes just for that adrenaline rush, which in small doses can actually be beneficial for your organism. However I don't feel gambling is a productive/good way to distract yourself from work or whatever main "stressful" activity you have.

And no, I would never use gambling to try to "make money" because I need it. The math is not on your side. That's all you need to know to make an informed decision about the budget you allocate to this form of entertainment.
