The installer cannot be ran in Windows 8 because of Windows SmartScreen, which cannot be fully disabled.
You can select "More info" in the SmartScreen and run the installer.

It is bug, accepted-counter is not incremented. Really the shares accepted at the Pool. Thank you, will be fixed in next release.

Cant compile here.. "coin" lacks all files under "properties".. but i am using VS2010 here - yet that shouldnt pose a problem. Any idea what may cause that?
It is possible to build under VS2010. Please contact me at support@ufasoft.com

If you don't believe that the data can be compressed due to its being of encrypted data, try compressing the blocks you already have downloaded as a proof of concept. Though I may have read my data wrong on the exact amount of space saved by which type of coin, it's still a significant amount of space saved by simple compression. Just look at the results for yourself. That's all I'm asking.
Let me explain: One block is incomressible. But if we download 100 000 blocks, they will have much duplicated data, so entire database is compressible. Coin.exe does "Database normalization", if removes duplicated data during saving of blocks. So we can compress blockchain download only when downloading entire blockchain as single file. But P2P clients should update their databases block-by-block. In this case updates are not compressible.

|
That would be true if the block data weren't mostly plain text. However, even using NTFS compression on the data causes the downloaded blocks to compress to less than 1/3 of their original size. It's when it's utilizing characters outside of plain text that compression becomes difficult. Block data of Bitcoin protocol is not a Plain Text. It is Binary. Mining protocol is text JSON-RPC, but for mining we already have Stratum protocol to lower Internet Traffic.

If i try to install a previous version of coin, will that help or cause a problem?
No, prev version will not help. The bug already fixed in source code. Will be released in 2 days

Does the address go with the wallet? Because the transaction I am waiting to receive came after the block it is stuck on.
Yes. The only thing necessary to control your bitcoins is a set of private keys (addresses are generated from them). You can even use both Ufasoft and Standard client with the same addresses parallely . When you send money from one program, this transaction automatically applied to wallet in another program.
|
|
|
Any idea on when it will be released? I cannot receive some BTC that i sent to my wallet.
Before December 20. Anyway you can export the wallet to Standard-Client format and manage your money.

Hey, a small request for an extremely handy feature addition here. Maybe you could implement a packet compression algorithm like gz to send and receive blocks much quicker. I've been stuck at about 264 days for a few Block data are uncompressible because composed of pubkeys/hash-values. They have very high level of information entropy

Using version .37 in win 7 x64 and i use it for BTC and NMC. However, all of sudden the client stopped downloading blocks yesterday at block 211803. The NMC blocks are downloading fine. I have rescanned and packed the
I confirm it. Our blockexplorer stopped on the same block: http://ufasoft.com/coin/blockexplorer/BitcoinSome non-standard data appeared in the next block. The bug will be fixed in the upcoming 0.38. Thank you

So as you can see, BFL did, in fact, commission a developer to create software for the BFL devices. It didn't really work out as well as they hoped, but by that time ckolivas et al had already added support to cgminer, so it wasn't really a big issue. If it were, BFL would have figured out a solution, either by paying another developer or finishing EasyMiner. ckolivas, Luke-jr, etc... put support in their programs for BFL because they were popular devices, not because BFL demanded or expected it. It was already there by the time BFL decided to switch the focus away from Ufasoft.
Ufasoft miner's support of BFL will be improved when I will have physical access to some device. Remote debugging and performance profiling is slow and difficult process. BTW: I have ordered a Jalapeno ASIC device, so hoping to add its support too.

how does this compare to Cgminer or BFGminer nowadays?
CGMiner's usability and performance is better. But this miner has simpler code and good for experiments.

is it me or we are talking about different things ... from OP I can download only ufasoft_coin_0.36.exe which IS an installer.
Yes, it is Installer. But you can unpack it by 7-Zip as usual archive. And then run coin-miner.exe (some DLLs required in the same directory)

Everything running smooth, Thank you!
Really a few serious bugs already found. 0.36 will be ready in 24h.
