Dividends will go out tomorrow! It will be around BTC185 Smiley

The 185 will be distributed to all shareholders or only on BTC-TC?
162  Economy / Securities / Re: Starting a new FPGA mining farm/contract! Cognitive on [GLBSE] on: December 06, 2012, 02:44:37 PM
I got an update from Nefario via email today. Three more users are accounted for, totaling 33 more shares.

I'm going to try calling him again tomorrow morning, because we still don't know who nearly half of the assets belong to...

Best,
Garrett

Unless this is another stall tactic, there has to be something wrong with the GLBSE database for this to be happening.  The pace that he is going it seems like he is manually going through the database instead of just performing a query.

That was pretty good.

Dear Miss Alvarez,

I was very pleased to read that you have lost your ill-conceived Supreme Court appeal seeking to destroy long established First Amendment protections for any citizens unfortunate enough to live under your oppressive jurisdiction.

Perhaps you should have taken your Oath of Office seriously and re-examined your poor understanding of the spirit and letter of the US Constitution, instead of wasting tax money on a fruitless quest to lick the jackboots of our nascent police state.

I honestly can't believe anyone with such terrible judgement and ignorance of the law could earn a legal degree, much less rise to an office of prominence!

You, Anita Alvarez, are a superb example of how race and gender based affirmative action are doing a disservice to our country by allowing eminently unqualified individuals such as yourself to occupy positions where your manifest incompetence becomes not only a waste of time and money, but threatens our very freedoms and liberties.

The McLean County State’s Attorney, Jason Chambers, made no such ridiculous mistake and thus will not suffer your humiliating embarrassment.  Of course Mr. Chambers is a white male who was required to work for his job qualifications, unlike you, a Hispanic female affirmative action baby of dubious intelligence and demonstrated hostility toward freedom of speech.

Good day Miss!

-iCEBREAKER

You were doing pretty well until the red. This turned what would've been a sharp but warranted criticism of a violation of free speech into a bitter, bigoted cheap shot.

White males who can score well on the LSAT are just as capable of trampling on people's rights and unjustly increasing the power of the police state.

The garbage in red also makes it easier for people to dismiss any sort of libertarian arguments as the work of bigots/racists.

gigavps, Why do you think Nafario only gave G1GAVPS a partial list?

I've seen three reasons there is only a partial list.

  • The asset holder did not make a claim on glbse.com after nefario put up the claims process.
  • The asset holder has received a double payment so nefario is holding that persons information hostage until the coins are returned.
  • The asset holder is not on the list for some explainable reason.

I have talked with at least 10 people who have fallen in to the third bullet point there. It's not good.

I can confirm this.  I have an asset with another asset issuer, I have not received any double payments and I have entered in my information.  I received the 2 bitcoins I had on GLBSE before it was shut down and received those bitcoins during the first round of coins being sent out.

Just as Nefario improperly sent out double payments, it is likely he can't code correctly to see who owes what.  Unless his database is still intact.  Since no one but him will verify the database it is impossible to say.
166  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: My name is Nafario, the owner of GBLSE.c0m, and why do you think I do these. on: December 05, 2012, 06:28:26 AM
How about making a jamesmccarthy.whatever just like the one for Trendon Shavers.
167  Economy / Securities / Re: GLBSE is offline We will update our users on Saturday. on: December 04, 2012, 06:48:38 PM
To pull off a scam you have to have mark (see point b above), who has something worth stealing (see point a above), and you have to get away with it (see point c above).   The scammer trifecta.  Bitcoin will continue to attract bolder and bolder scammers, conmen, ponzi operators, and hucksters until a, b, or c are no longer true (or less true).

Are you suggesting that investors who used GLBSE were dimwitted, or is the topic moving faster than I can follow?

I agree to your point though. Since there will always be marks who has something worth stealing, (c) needs to change. There is very little deterrence as it stands.

Have the shareholders who are siding with Nefario been exposed yet? Do we know their rationale? Do we know why the "contingency plan" failed, or had been designed so badly in the first place?

It sucks, any advice?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NsOyvVVgYDg

It is simple.  Wait for weakness in their relationship and then jump.  At some point their relationship will hit a rough patch and she might ask you for advise.  In the mean time go practice with other girls because it is not good to be stuck on 1 person.

No. I'm just pointing out your spin and the failed mathematics within it. That's all.

Assume there is no pot tax. Then Americans continue paying the same tax they do now, except the money doesn't go to drug enforcement infrastructure, but other more productive programs. Or, in the absence of drug enforcement infrastructure, Americans pay less in taxes. Or, in the absence of drug enforcement infrastructure, plus a pot tax, tax revenue is increased and the savings plus the tax go to other programs or deficit reduction. Granted, some people are out jobs, but they can possibly be put to use doing things which produce well being, rather maintain a non-productive process.

Here, I underlined the points where you are thinking rationally in an irrational system.  If the system was rational then these drugs would never have been illegal in the beginning.

The guy on the right would be too fat to chase an attacker and the guy on the left would loose his pants because they are so baggy.

Thus the high-powered rifles and scopes. No need to chase, when you can take your time and aim.

Ha, unless the fat one shoots his foot off.  That is bad gun safety he is practicing with his finger on the trigger.

That's just pure, unadulterated stupidity, is what it is.

What is? Proper firearm safety?

I also read in the NY Times today that McAfee has started to release tweets while he hides.

accountability - enforced by videotape... is a good thing for all of us.

Agreed. But "freedom of the press" is a bit tenuous when it's your average man-on-the-street doing the filming. I would think "unreasonable search and seizure" or something similar would cover it but that would probably set a precedent for blocking something the govt doesn't want stopped.

Quote
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The idea is that anyone can be a journalist.  People do not need a license to be a journalist and journalism as a profession is not regulated.  This is the purpose of the amendment.  Anyone with the ability to transmit information can be a journalist.  Anyone can record another person on public property.  The laws in some areas that limited the recording of the law enforcement officers was restricted because it was claimed that it interfered with the duties of the officers.

There are plenty of videos on Youtube that show people recording police and getting arrested for doing that.  It is not because they interfere with the duties of an officer, but because the police department is trying to limit possible evidence for lawsuits on excessive use of force.
172  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: The Case against Bitcoin OZ on: December 03, 2012, 05:51:37 AM
Bitcoin Oz deserves a scammer tag for misrepresenting him as a "Marketing Executive" of coinabul. If I went on #bitcoin-otc, changed my name to a well known member of this forum that didn't have enforce on, said in the channel that I'm that person, then I'd have got a scammer tag even if I didn't actually conduct any trades.

Didn't some guy once get a scammer tag for playing a prank in #bitcoin-otc?

I find this interesting:

...
There should be repurcussions for lapses in judgement.
...

Also, there is a reason the SEC requires financial disclosures for publicly traded securities.  There is no way to prove a business is reporting their information faithfully unless auditors or other 3rd parties are looking through the information.
173  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Indiana State Police Chief: Legalize and Tax Pot on: December 01, 2012, 07:21:17 AM
The government makes more money by having drugs illegal for human consumption rather than taxing it so it can be used medically or recreationally.  Government departments get more power within the government the larger the budget they have.  It does not matter if the government taxes people that want to smoke pot, it already taxes EVERYONE in the United States to not use pot.

This year the federal and state government spent about $40 billion to keep people from not using drugs.  This does not include the cost of incarcerating people or the revenue governments have collected by asset forfeiture.

That is about $133 per American each year to keep other Americans from using drugs (this does not include the interest on the borrowed money to pay for this budget).  If you can get a tax for Americans to use drugs legally that will double that amount then you might have a shot of legalizing drugs that are currently illegal.

The question is, "How many Americans used cannabis at least once a year?

I can not find any reliable statistics, but it is known that ~20% of the population smokes cigarettes.  So lets assume that only 10% of Americans use cannabis at least once a year.  This means that those 10% of users need to make up the revenue that is lost from the other 90% of taxpayers that do not use cannabis and would never pay a tax on cannabis.  Each of those cannibis users would need to pay at least $1,330 each year in taxes to make up for the lost departmental budgets.

Kind of a silly spin, don't you think? Assume there is no pot tax. Then Americans continue paying the same tax they do now, except the money doesn't go to drug enforcement infrastructure, but other more productive programs. Or, in the absence of drug enforcement infrastructure, Americans pay less in taxes. Or, in the absence of drug enforcement infrastructure, plus a pot tax, tax revenue is increased and the savings plus the tax go to other programs or deficit reduction. Granted, some people are out jobs, but they can possibly be put to use doing things which produce well being, rather maintain a non-productive process.

You are thinking too rationally and on the side of tax payers.  You are assuming those people out of jobs (DEA, judges, ect) have no power with their monstrous budgets.  This is the way government beuracracies work.  Those with the largest budgets get more power and they don't want to give up that power.
174  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Supreme Court rules taping police is a 1st Amendment right on: December 01, 2012, 07:18:16 AM
I don't see how this is a first amendment issue (unless it was actually the publishing and not the recording that was at issue).

Of course, it absolutely should be allowed. Which probably means that there was a door the court didn't want to open by finding in favor for the *real* reason.

Freedom of the press.

I'm English so technically those Americans of you out there stole land from me in the revolution and you owe me some moolah. Send me your bitcoins. I work with a guy of Indian descent so I'll make sure to split it with him and we should all be square. Any Vikings out there contact me directly and we can discuss negotiations over all that raping and pillaging.

I see you are still screwing the Irish.

Tree-cops is a reference to the hallucinations a stimulant abuser suffers after a long binge. IE they see imaginary cops in the trees or made out of swaying tree branches.

I see.
I guess that's one reason to have these two around.
